Kelly was amazing at check in.
Made sure that we are well looked after and even have a small gift for my husband's birthday.
Helped us to book an extra room for our friend arriving at night.
So helpful, cheerful and amazing. We will definitely come back.

Showering was a nightmare not even any soap for the shower and the dispensers on the wall were empty. Then had to put a manky shower mat in the bath and stick it down to stand on. Very budget there was hair in my bed. Even the toilet button was sticky dirty. Never never again. The check in man was great.

Check in staff were helpful, gave us a key to the back door which is nearer to the lifts. Nice touch but lifts were really stinky, had a musky smell not the Rotorua sulfur smell. Rooms were super dated.
Room smelt of mildew, shower head looked really dirty so I had to call the reception to change room. Front desk staff Neah was accommodating but housekeeping supervisor was so rude. Came in the room and asked what the problem is, showed her what we thought was a cockroach in the balcony, only to be ridiculed that it’s a Weta, she picked it up and kept telling me that it will fly away as it’s a weta. She picked it up, it crawled all over her arm and she flicked it off in the air and it just fell to the ground floor, never flew…..
I then showed her the shower head, she said that those are not dirt but it is normal to have that in Rotorua due to the sulfur and that even if she shows me other units it’s going to be the same. She said that other hotels have the exact same problem. She showed me another room but we didn’t change as it had the same smell, style and shower head). I decided to shorten our stay and found something just opposite with no dirt on showerhead-so it’s a lie, scum like marks were not caused by sulfur but laziness. marks will not accumulate if this has been cleaned daily. She even threatened that if I complain about their cleanliness, she will have to fire the lady who cleaned our room.She should be the one fired in my opinion since shes the supervisor.

Great location. Close to the town. We have booked for one night on the way from Wellington to Auckland on 1st of Jan.. hoping to have rest and food on the site. The restaurant and the bar were closed. Had to go to town for the dinner.
Very good property but very poorly maintained. Old carpets old fashioned AC unit in the room, The 4th floor area near lift was leaking. Could see buckets around floor to catch the water. No real vibe. Not sure the what is happening with hospitality industry in NZ. Day by day quality of service is diminishing every where. Have used Copthrone hotels before in NZ. Not up to the reputation.

Couldn't use the body wash and shampoo as the bottles were sealed shut, the toilet was running water so at times didn’t flush and the fridge didn’t work and we had to get it replaced. There were minor rips in the carpet, water marks all over the cabinetry and it was worn down everywhere. Staff were lovely but we will not stay here again.

Room is okay. Not friendly for family with young kids/ infants/toddlers. They don’t even have an oven to heat up the food for kids nor a bread toast and charge hefty money for a night stay. The only staff we interacted was the reception lady and she was okay. tiny and congested bathroom

The room was clean beds super comfy. The pressure in the shower wasn't amazing but I find it hard to find any hotel with good water pressure. The heated pool and spa were great he kids loved it. The breakfast wasn't the best so we only ate down there once but that is also due to fussy kids. Rooms do get a little hot but we just turned the air con on all night. Staff were fantastic though. Would book and stay there again.

We stayed for 2 days in a superior room with a queen bed. The Copthorne hotel is quiet, comfortable, and easy to access, with stunning views out of the window. Especially, the duvet is very soft and smooth. It's good for deep sleep. Thanks.

The rooms were clean and the bed was extremely comfy for lovers of a soft bed but the hotel was a lot more run down than I expected. The carpets were worn and the pool area was in a sorry state. The pool wasn’t that warm and the two hot tubs were tiny.

We had an overall enjoyable stay at the hotel. The room was clean and well-kept, which we really appreciated. That said, a few small upgrades could significantly improve the guest experience. For example, the room still uses a traditional key instead of a key card, which feels a bit outdated for a hotel. Also, while the bathroom was tidy, the shower head was rusty, which gave a less-than-ideal first impression. These are minor details, but updating them would help elevate the overall quality of the stay.

The hotel is old & needs refurbishingor reno works. Clearly many things in the room seem \"ancient\" Unfortunately we even had a breakdown of the wifi service for our room. Also the mode of the wifi access is a bit weird & we had to chase the reception on the wifi breakdown & it finally got settled after almost 15 hrs. For us international travellers perhaps there aren't many visitors like us & we stayed 3 nites. Albeit the room service was reasonably efficient though but not the front desk - reason for this statement is bcoz the front desk's different shifts didn't have a clue on the wifi breakdown which was from 10pm till about following day 3-4pm. I won't stay here again even though NZ is one of my fav countries to visit

When booking the Copthorne I thought I was booking at quite a fancy place, the hotel itself and its rooms are very dated and old! Only hotel I know of still using actual keys! We checked in easily, but upon entering our room found broken glass all over the floor between the beds! The reception team cleaned it up quickly but still could have been bad if we’d stood on it before noticing it. Our room had no microwave, only 2 teaspoons and 3 cups, and 3 mugs, no knives or bowls or plates! The carpet in our room was old and broken and stained. Tv channels available were minimal no additional services available to pay for or book on the tv. At least the beds were soft and snuggly was the only upside. The buffet breakfast was way too expensive at $35 per adult….. considering what food was on offer! Eggs only scrambled or hard boiled no fried eggs when I asked if they did fried eggs staff looked at me like I was crazy or she didn’t speak English, the boiling water was luke warm, the juices and milk empty had to ask for everything. On our 2nd to last day the only elevator was Out of Order thankfully we were only on the 2nd floor but had to lug our bags down the stairs when we left glad we weren’t on the 5th floor. The jacuzzi wasn’t hot enough. The gentleman at reception was very helpful whenever I needed anything so A+ to the staff but wouldn’t stay here again!

Our stay was very good until the morning we were due to check out.
We popped out for coffee around 9am (without checking out) and returned to our room at 9.30 to find the door wide open and the beds stripped and our belongings still in the room with the door wide open.
We were horrified at the lack of concern for our belongings.
We informed the front desk at once and were assured that this should not have happened as we had not checked out and it was only 9.40am.

We are still waiting to hear back from the hotel for an explanation and an apology.

We would think twice before staying here again.

AWESOME staff members, clean comfortable room, my son loved the heated pool and i loved the spa! My partner liked the gym and the bar was a nice added bonus after a long day out and about. Perfect spot to relax yet so close to all the activities we had planned. Would definitely stay here again. Highly reccomend.

I was required two room next to each other but we end up getting another room on the 1st floor and another room on the 4th floor. I was booking two room together but then seem like the reception have no idea give me only 1 room then I have to ask her again for another room and haven’t tell us much about welcome to hotel when we check in. Also we need to be careful the lift door. It suddenly close and take my daughter up by herself and almost close on my arm when I try to get in. We press the botton to keep it open but it wasn’t working. But overall the room are great and the cleaning staffs are friendly.

No parking for in house guests when a function is on
Not maintained, needs a revamp and a good clean up.
Arrived at 2.30pm and staff had to check if it had been cleaned for check in. Manager tried and was lovely.
Elevators always seemed held up by cleaners bringing their trolleys up and down.
Such a shame it’s not as professional as other hotels,
Would not stay again.

24 hr reception but nobody at counter at 5 pmish and no bell to summons someone, after waiting 5 minutes or so I called out.

The room itself was comfortable and reasonably clean. Long hair on floor in the bathroom.

Not sure why some hotels stuff 2 pillows into one pillow protector and try to pass it off as a new one. These are bulky, burst out of their pillow slips and look like exactly what they are. Not a good look in hotels that consider themselves upmarket.

Despite my minor irritations we would stay here again.

Arrived at 1.15pm, said sorry were a bit early, any chance of a check in? I got an abrupt \"No. 2pm is check in\".... I understand there are rules, but a sorry we're still getting the room ready or something similar would have been nice. Extraction fan in the bathroom wasn't working either. Maintenance informed us there were 5 through the hotel waiting to get replaced

Everything was just tired. The decor, the carpets, the paintwork.

The room was comfortable but dated. Bathroom was cramped and shabby. Having said that we’d stay again, the rate was okay, the breakfast limited but ok to start the day. Staff we met were fine, just not many of them. The restaurant is closed for meals, wish we knew beforehand.

This hotel is old and very out of date. The carpet worn; the furnishings are dated. The staff were welcoming, and the place was clean, but it was a bit of shock to see the condition of the hotel. It was adequate but I would not stay there again.
