Decent place to stay that had easy access to Copacabana beaches and day tours throughout the city. Not the most comfortable, but it was fine. You were paying more for the location than the amenities - it's not a hotel you stay at all day, but it's perfectly fine and safe as a home base to go into Rio

Fue sorpresa encontrar que muchos reviews anteriores son un tanto injustos por que han hecho un esfuerzo por remodelar y limpiar. Sin embargo todavía les falta un poco de detalle.

El restaurante con su desayuno deja mucho que desear. Todos los días es lo mismo. Huevos revueltos con salchicha. Además qué la actitud de los meseros no es de un hotel de 4 estrellas.

Las habitaciones las limpian a diario, pero las toallas ya son viejas.

Las habitaciones que dan a la calle son un poco ruidosas ya que la consola de aire acondicionado no ajusta bien a la pared y queda un agujero vacío donde se cuela todo el ruido.

La piscina si bien es pequeña, es justo para pasar un rato si se necesita liberar estrés de haber hecho turismo, queda bien antes de ir a dormir. Sugerencia: Quedaría mejor tuvieran jacuzzi.

Los ascensores dan miedo. En un par de ocasiones se aparco mal dejando una grada entre el nivel y el ascensor. Pareciera por los ruidos que hace que el cable se resbala.

Worst facility and unreasonable service.

The air conditioner in our room did not work property and it was very hot and humid inside. We asked the reception to change the room, but they declined due to the availability issue. They asked us to come back next morning. As a result we didn't sleep at all on that night.
Next morning the reception declined our request again, saying they needed more time to clean up rooms. As a result we ended up waiting until 14:00 without sleeping.

In the new room we couldn't sleep much due to the noise by neighbor guests. It was 02:30AM. We called the reception and asked them to communicate the problem to the guest, they agreed to call the guest. but phone never rang and the noise didn't stop until 04:00AM.

The worst hotel experience ever.
Can't believe this is 4 starred hotel.

Workers were great as they were limited cause the hotel was so run down. A/c on lower floors were so old that one went on fire and the alarms were not heard from our floor. Woke up to smell of smoke. Place is so very run down. Our A/c was so weak the we had to buy a fan just to keep kool. Refrigerator was not cold so we had to buy a cooler just to keep our water cold. We had to buy ice cause they did not have an ice maker. Beds were half covered cause they did not have the right size and/or ran out. Worst hotel and also worst experience I have had with Travelocity. I was in a foreign country. Reached out to Travelocity and the best they could do was offer a hotel in the worst area. So put me from the frying pan into the fire. They offer to call the hotel when I got back for a discount and also a credit from Travelocity. Told me they would call me back. Have not heard from them. Will not use their services in the future.

This hotel is a hidden gem in the Copacabana/Leme beach area. I have been staying there for the past 6 years, after selling my apartment nearby. It is the only hotel for that prize point that includes complimentary breakfast, a decent gym and a small pool. The pool is really small, only 12 ' x18' and less than 3' deep; more like a big Jaccuzi. The hotel's location is unbeatable, 3 minutes from Copacabana beach, 6 minutes from the Rio Sul Shopping Center and 9 minutes from the metro.
Ask for a room in that back, as not to face the busy Princesa Isabel Avenue.

This is my first time in my life that you are not allowed guest to visit u in ur room, i paid for my room and i can bring who ever i want to bring. I've travelled the world this is my first time this happened to me. and the other condition the can allow u to bring guest but you have to pay Brazillian $ 150 per guest to visit. I m very dis appointed. the people are great but the rules are out of the world.

Everything was nice, the only thing was that there was no option to decline house keeping. Also, one night they made the bed without sheets, and they moved the towels in the bathroom such that we no longer knew who had used which for faces or hands. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the location was great.

The room is very cozy and everything is super clean. The bed is super comfortable, the pressure in the shower is amazing, the staff is very friendly. My only complaint is the breakfast. If you go after 8, there isn’t much left. And it takes a long time until they replace what is missing on the buffet. I still could find something to eat, so I am still giving it 5 stars. I just think they could improve their breakfast system, anyway I had an amazing stay and definitely recommend them! It’s super close to the best part of the beach, where the water looks cleaner!

Nice hotel 3 blocks from Copacabana. 2 blocks from a Metro station. Very well guarded and safe at night.
The only bad point would be the pool because is not a real pool. It is the size of a fountain so I was disappointed and could not use it.

We did not feel like we were staying in a 4 star hotel. It needs major overhaul.
Internet barely works in the rooms and in the common areas, we did a speed test and got 2G speeds for WiFi. The pillow covers were torn which was absolutely ridiculous. The bathroom had no exhaust/ventilation so the clothes took forever to dry up. There was no shower gel, just a bar of soap. The handle to the bathroom came off while using it, the repairman did a lousy patch work of it since it came right off again in a few hours. The room was not insulated against noise from the streets. At the breakfast there are only 2 staff catering to the entire hotel, hence there were no free tables since dirty dishes were piling up really fast, which we had to move ourselves every single day. We have stayed in better family owned pensions than this 4 star hotel.

The rooftop pool area was decent, but they often didn't have towels up there to use. The hotel feels a bit older but the rooms are at least comfortable and spacious. The free breakfast was great and it was an excellent location for catching ubers to the rest of the city and you could walk directly to Copacabana Beach. We would stay here again.

Overall the hotel is ok for a couple of nights. Room is clean, but outdated. If you are looking for comfort, that would not be an option, but if you are budgeting and want privacy instead of a hostel, that would be fine. Breakfast is ok. The hotel is centrally located, in the beginning of Copacabana neighborhood, just a couple of blocks from Copacabana and Leme beaches.
I had an issue with the hotel in regards to my luggage. The airline company lost my luggage and delivered on a Monday. Nobody from the hotel told me the luggage had arrived. I was spending money buying clothes until the luggages were there. I could not believe they did not contacted me to let me know the luggages were there. I had to inquire them upon being notified by the airline that they had already delivered. Front desk let me stay a couple of hours past check out, and I appreciate that.

We stayed here during Carnaval . The foyer and reception were decorated appropriately. It was busy but the service was always prompt and friendly. The hotel's location was excellent, near the beach, shops and buses. Breakfast was plentiful and varied.

I stayed at the hotel for 4 days. It was the best rate I found for hotels around the beginning of Copacabana beach. It is actually located in an area called Leme. The hotel offered free wi-fi and a good breakfast with eggs, ham, turkey and cheese, and various fresh fruits included in the room rate. The juices were quite watered down and not very good. This was one of the very few hotels that had a gym. The gym had a very good selection of Life Fitness equipment with 2 treadmills, 2 bikes and plenty of weight equipment. The hotel also had a very small pool and a sauna next to the pool. The pool is very shallow and there is no way one can swim in it. It is just for cooling off. I did not try the sauna.
The hotel does not allow guests in the room which caught me by surprise. I do not know if it is a Rio thing or just this hotel.

The hotel is long past it's prim e. They did not have our reservation in their system and spent an hour trying to find it with Expedia. Although clean, the room as spartan and the bed was not comfortable. The facilities in the hotel are not! I have stayed in better 2 star motels than this alleged 4 star hotel.

Bad attitude of hotel reception, 2 out of 3 a/c units didn't work and the one that did was 90cm from the bed and noisy. Bathroom door handle broken as is the shower handle, toilet roll paper holder broken too. When I needed to cancel my 2nd stay they didn't make the slightest effort to help and this suppose to be a 4 star hotel? This is, maybe, 1 star hotel - would not recommend to anyone to stay there - no wonder they take the money upfront!!! I have been traveling for over 50 years - never had such a bad experience!!!

Best Western Copacabana

Very convenient location, 5 mins walk to Copacabana beach. Despite being a major hotel on the main street into Copacabana, some taxi drivers can't find it and drive right past on the way from the airport. Print a map and show it to the driver - it needs a U turn at the first opening after leaving the tunnel.
Beware unscrupulous taxi drivers offering a fixed fare in Rio - the meter fare will likely to be half their offer, especially from tourist hot spots.
Beware also that unless you insist on a taxi, the hotel will try to put you in a fixed price car to go to the airport. It will be a nice car but not so nice as to be worth 4 x the metred taxi fare.
The hotel itself was god, convenient and comfortable. I'd stay there again (the first Rio hotel that I have given that recommendation after 5 visits).

Great Price and Location for Copacabana Beach

The hotel was clean, and the staff was very helpful. The price for the room was unbelievable given that it's a 5 minute walk to the beach or to Rio Sul Shopping Centre. There were many local restaurants within a 10 minute walk which were also reasonably priced. The two of us were able to buy dinner for less than $15.00 apiece.

The \"full\" breakfast was actually a continental breakfast with scrambled eggs and a local meat available. Only one day of our one week stay was there bacon. But given the great deal on the cost of the room, I'm not complaining.

The area of the city where the hotel is located felt safe, no one ever approached or harassed us. The hotel is a 15 minute taxi ride away from the center of the city, but with taxi rates being low and the U.S. dollar being strong, the fare was about $8.00 each way. Same for a taxi ride to Sugarloaf Mountain. A shuttle service to the Statue of Christ the Redeemer was a 10 minute walk away.

Just be aware that all of the hotel staff doesn't speak English, particularly the room service personnel, but the person at the front desk always did.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was fairly quiet, the front desk was very helpful, the hotel is only a few blocks from the beach and close to small shops and restaurants, there was a nice view from the rooftop pool/bar, and the included breakfast buffet had a nice variety of options. My only feedback is that the pool is tiny and the service at the rooftop bar was slow to non-existent (you have to call for service, and the person taking the order over the phone didn't speak English). Overall, though, it was a nice venue and a good deal for the price.

It is very close to Copacabana. The hotel is fine. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is helpful, but they only had one person at the reception and I had to wait for ages till I was served. The food at the restaurant is average. Was not impressed by the sauna and did not use it.

Very good affordable hotel in safe area

I stayed for about a week and felt very good here throughout my stay. It's 3 minutes walk away from a calm part of Copacabana beach, about 7 minutes away from an underground station, many buses depart directly in front of the door. The area is safe. One can even go out in the night at that part of the beach. Staff speaks English and German. Good typical Brazilian breakfast buffet, good also for vegetarians. My room had a Mini Bar and a safe. The room was silent. Staff is very friendly. It's a good and safe place for a travelling single woman. I would go there again next time.

Good Value and wonderful location near Copacabana

The service at the hotel is good, location was quiet and it includes having a person on the front door 24 hours a day. The staff were all very friendly. The location is nice; just a short walk (5-10 min) from Copacabana beach, shopping (including a large centre on the other side of the tunnel near the hotel), nightlife, restaurants, etc. You have a bus stop right outside the hotel and it has several routes throughout the city. Bus line #2018 from GIG airport stop nearby for pickup and drop off.

Hotel was 'okish' to stay two nights - The single room I received was extremely big, however I doubt that all single rooms are like that. Hotel prices in Rio and particularly at Copacabana are extremely high with the standard in comes with. Therefore the Hotel can't be compared with any other cities in the world.

Best Western Hotel is ideally located if you want to travel by bus to any location in the city - bus station 1 min walk. It's about a 10 min walk to the beach and/or to the closest subway station. Area seems to be safe also at night. Breakfast buffet is ok, however it lacks a bit in the quality of food.

The hotel was 5 mins walk to copacabana beach. I was skeptical about the security of the location but it was quite the opposite. The room was big enough and they had all the amenities needed for us. Even the tooth brush, paste, combs were refilled every day which i haven't experienced in other hotels i had stayed :) The receptionists were very helpful in providing us information on bus routes, taxis, restaurants, etc. The breakfast was awesome here with a wide range of menu. The shopping mall was close which was also in walkable distance. we will definitely stay the next time we visit Rio.

Stayed for a week on best western on dec 2013. Not bad but it you r planning to be around party or meeting people, ipanema best Western would be a better option. Bathroom shower was not very clean either, however it was acceptable,

OK hotel on a busy street

The hotel is on a busy street with many people getting on and off buses. Due to the size of the street and a open area in the middle of the street, there are many homeless. There is a lot of street noise even at night and we were on the 6th floor. Beach and metro are easy 10 minute walking distance of 3-4 short blocks. The hotel itself is good with a helpful staff. Rooms are clean with AC and cable TV but simple. Room included breakfast which is better than American standards but average for Brazil. I would stay at the hotel again if it were at a better location. I would recommend a hotel on Av Atlantica or on the southern end of Copacabana near Ipanema on a smaller street.

It is an old property, not bad for a short stay, not far away from SDU airport. Couple of blocks from Copacabana Beach. Staff could be friendlier.

Good hotel in a good location

Hotel seemed to be pretty good value. Check in was rigid at 2pm but that is fair enough and they did store our bags for us. Staff were friendly and spoke english which was handy. Location is good, short walk to the beach. The room itself was as promised and was a good size.

A short walk to Copacabana Beach

The location of the hotel made it easy to get around.. walking distance from Copacabana Beach and a short cab ride away from SugarLoaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer. Do not book tours with reception for these places. You can easily go on your own (I recommend going earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds) for less than half the price of the tours. We had a bad experience with the two tours we did book with the hotel: one to go to a soccer game and one to go to Manguiera. For the local soccer match, we paid $20/pp extra to have midfield seats. When we got to the stadium, we were told there were no midfield seats and we had to practically fight with the hotel reception to get our $40 back. The hotel staff was really rude when we tried to remedy this situation. Also, the Manguiera tour we booked picked us up an HOUR after we were told to wait in reception for it. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude about the situation, and when we tried to cancel and get our money back after patiently waiting 45 minutes, she pleaded with us not to since the tour bus was on its way. The hotel itself is good for the price and location, but the reception staff are not friendly and you are much better off booking tours on your own.

For the price we paid was a lovely comfortable hotel. The staff were ok, but service wasn't exceptional. Close to copacabana beach, but not a great area to walk round at night.

Very good hotel

I would gladly recommend this hotel. The room is nice and the breakfast is very good. It is at walking distance to copacabana beach and it has easy transport to other parts of the city. The only downside I had was that my air conditionning made noise and was impossible to configure or turn off (the remote didn't do anything). Other than that, this is a great place to stay.

Good location for the price

Clean, near the beach, near the shopping mall but not too many good places to eat. Better to be nearer Ipanema. Free Wifi which is good. Pool is too small more like a dip pool. Ask for room which is not facing the road as this hotel is on the main road. Good breakfast. Easy to flag down taxi. Yellow taxi to and fro from airport is fine and cheaper than the one you book and pay at the airport. Would recommend this hotel.
