Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful and allowed an early checkin.
We were on the 4th floor and could hear our neighbors through the walls - yes it was a family, so no harm as the kids were having fun. All in all it was a great location to everything and we enjoyed our short stay in Florence!

The hotel was being refurbished and the lift was covered with plastic as if it was being renovated. Breakfast was basic and some drinks tasted off. Very central and close to the main landmarks but not the best hotel experience.

I recommand this hotel for the location, a plus since you don’t have to carry your suitcase far. Lots of restos close by so is the market for great lunches.

The hotel was very old, the room smell very bad, there were no hanger in bathroom for towels, the were very limited options for breakfast. Overall, it was my worst hotel experience amongst the 4 hotels I booked in Italy so far.

The only positive point was the location which was close to train station as well as attractions

The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. Our window overlooked the main pedestrian street which was lovely. It was noisy at night with chatter - but there are double glazed windows so it was fine and I don’t mind this anyway. Absolutely no noise in the morning because there are no cars - wonderful!
The hotel is old so traditional decor and character.
The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They gave us good advice about where to eat.
The hotel is centrally located and we could easily walk around to popular destinations in the day and find somewhere close by to eat at night.

The hotel is conveniently located as it is very near the train station. The street also has grocery store, laundry shop and a lot of dining options! Plus very near the duomo. Room is very clean. Our room was on the street side and I could hear the people having drinks at the nearby restaurant but nothing that could not be fixed by closing the window. As we leave very early, the staff graciously packed our breakfast the night before (juice, water, fruits and biscuits).

The staff was excellent and the hotel was only a few minutes walk away from SMN train station and major attractions such as the Medici Palace and Chapel and Il Duomo. Excellent restaurants and bars were just seconds away from the hotel (we particularly enjoyed the service and food at Trattoria Katti right across the street). The hotel was undergoing renovations which will make the rooms beautiful when they’re done! We had a few problems with the room; the toilet did not flush properly for the 8 nights we were there, the floor was uneven and the bathroom door would not close properly. The staff was very attentive and addressed our concerns as quickly as possible but the room needed some work. The front of the street is quite noisy at night so the hotel gladly gave us a room in the back away from the noise and we never noticed a thing. The breakfast buffet had everything you wanted but the booths were awkward to get into and the coffee machine kept running out of coffee.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The staff was EXCELLENT and the location was fabulous. When the rooms are updated this will be a premium hotel and a bargain at the current price!

Breakfast was okay. Beds were hard and pillow super thin. Hot water took 20 min to get hot. Few staff members were grumpy others were pleasant. Very noisy as room next door partied until after midnight but no staff in building to deal with the noise. Convenient location to train and some major sites. Wouldn’t stay again

Not the most \"luxurious experience\" but for the price exceptionally safe and accessible. We were able to leave our luggage in the common area before and after check in and felt very comfortable doing so. In a very useful location in the city. Would stay again. A very nice touch was the walk out terrace with views overlooking the city.

Hotel allowed us to leave our bags and come back to use washroom and sit in lobby as well. Meal options was also great and food was so tasty. Wished we stayed longer

It was nice place to stay. The staff, especially at the front desk, were very friendly. It is an old building, however, so anyone expecting what they would get especially ina North American hotel will be disappointed. But the older building has its charms and it is nicely appointed and decorated. The Air conditioning, especially with its temperature lock, was a disappointment.

The room was fine but the property could use some updating. Torn carpets in hallways the guest lounge was outdated not well decorated the paintings were ugly. The breakfast was very good however and the staff super nice. In such a beautiful city just paint your walls a nice color. Put some pretty photos of artwork and replace your carpet in the hallways and you will have a beautiful hotel.

Hotel Rex is ideally located for a few days in Florence. The main attractions are very walkable, for south of the river it is around 30 minutes. We had a lovely welcome from the staff and they had baggage storage as we were early for our check in. A nice continental breakfast selection available too.

The street of the hotel is lively with bars and restaurants. This might put some quieter travelers off, but we were happy endulging in the €3.50 spritz and apretivio. The rooms and amenities are rustic, but all working properly and still very clean. The pros of it's location and service certainly outweighed the room conditions for us. Overall, a lovely stay in Florence. Thank you!

Nice hotel, good location, and very clean. But very busy and noisy at night but its Italy! My only complaint is that there was no blind or black-out curtains on the window. The curtains were a light linen. There was no direct sun shining into the room, however with all the lights on in the evening, it made the room a bit too light at night. I would recommend that you request a room in the back of the building. Breakfast was great, nice variety, something for everyone.

Don't get a room facing the street!

The hotel is in a great location, the staff is very nice, and the breakfast is good. But make sure you do not get a room facing the street. There is a bar right across the street with loud people that closes at 2am, so I did not get any sleep. The hotel was nice enough to move me for the second night, but that first night was horrible. The beds are also not the most comfortable, but decent.

La primera habitación que nos asignaron terriblemente fea ! Se ve que es una habitación improvisada ! Sin embargo el Staff y el personal hicieron su mejor esfuerzo para que nos sintiéramos bien y nos cambiaron para otra habitación.
El mobiliario es viejo y no esta en buen estado ! El área asignado para desayuno, nada cómodo !

No lo recomiendo ! Hay que reconocer que el personal y el staff muy atentos ! Buena ubicación.

Pero Jamás me volvería a quedar o recomendar por la calidad de las instalaciones

Avoid! Awful, shabby and dangerous room.

I don’t like giving negative reviews so positives first. Location in central Florence excellent & close to the station. Staff were friendly. Large comfy bed. Good continental breakfast but time available could be extended.
Unfortunately, none of the above make up for possibly the worst room I have stayed in, in the last 30 years. Room small, dark & shabby with paint peeling from the walls & scruffy little built in wardrobe. En-suite tiny & very tired. En suite door was hanging dangerously by the upper hinge only, as the lower one had rusted & broken away from the rotten door post. The raincan shower head was broken so very difficult to direct the flow of water in order to have a decent shower. No plug in the sink. No instructions for aircon and couldn’t get it to work, despite using online user manual. The electric went off 3 times during our 4 day stay and we had to pack in the dark. We did consider asking for another room but found out online that the hotel was fully booked. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, very shoddy and poor value for money. The owners will probably say we should have flagged up the problems but it is clear the damage to the en-suite door, and shower head are not new and they must be aware of them. They just choose not to fix them as they know they’ll always have custom. I actually found a 10 cm piece of door frame down the plug hole & the shower rail & curtain on the floor after maid had been. Smoke alarm was also disconnected in a drawer!

The negatives far outweigh the positives of this hotel. It is a great location and the staff could not have been nicer. This is a very tired hotel and very uncomfortable. The carpets are extremely worn and the rooms were clean, but the mosquitoes were relentless. I think the cleaners would leave the Window open when they were cleaning because we were swatting them every night. I do not recommend this hotel.

The hotel was ideally situated to walk around the center of Florence. It was also only a 5 minute walk with luggage to the train station. The breakfast was good but it only started at 8am. They'd do better opening it at 7:30. The hotel was looking a bit shabby in need of some upkeep. Our room was also full of mosquitos despite no windows being open. For the price, it was fine.

El hotel tiene excelente ubicación; la habitacion esta en buenas condiciones, sin embargo la cama esta muy dura, como si estuvieras acostado en el piso, ademas que es muy ruidoso (no se si estaban arreglando algo porque se escuchaban golpes de martillo y taladro) no pudimos dormir bien los dias que estuvimos; el horario del desayuno es muy corto de 8 am a 9:30 am y el que atiende tiene mala actitud, contesta muy feo a los comensales; solo lo recomendaria por la ubicacion

We loved our stay and that breakfast was included!! Our only issue was that our rooms air conditioning was not functioning! We had to open our room door to let in the much cooler hallway air in. Despite this Hotel Rex is located in an excellent location and has pleasant accommodations!

Location, location, location!! The hotel was within walking distance to all the big tourist attractions in Florence including the train station.

This hotel was clean and simple. My only complaint was the bathroom was very narrow.

The staff was friendly and helpful providing tips for authentic tuscan/italian restaurants and a map of the city.

We expected some city noise, but the soundproofing was awful. 2nd floor up (3rd) and you could hear all the music, patrons and general noise from the street in front as if it was directly in your room. Most nights we could only get uninterupted sleep between 3am and 6am. We also didnt have any control over the A/C and spent our 3 nights just sweating from how hot the room got. Wouldnt recommend during the peak season.

The mosquitos were awful. We had to open the window because the room was too hot. We inadvertently let in a bunch of mosquitos that bit us over and over. I had 8-10 bites on each arm. We asked for assistance at the front desk and was given the Italian version of Off. We were still being bitten so we asked for help again has were given a nearly empty can of Raid followed by a brand new can. It is a nice location and breakfast but the mosquitos are terrible. I have never seen anything like it.

Very poor quality Hotel for 3 stars.

Hotel is very well located, but it is not 3stars at all. my room has been adapted from a storage, because was a corridor where the bed is located in front of the door, and you do not have space for nothing else, was the worst I have stayed. For location is great, but no comfortable at all.
