Just checked out today! Mercure Koln West Hotel exceeded my expectations. Front office staff had been precise and helpful arranging room on my request. Room and toilet are clean. Although bedsheet not change but can understand on reducing waste. On breakfast, nice cosy embience and F&B staff are hardworking and friendly. Food are great! Pls keep improving creative improvement to rooms, front office and F&B.

The sauna only opens from 9am to 10pm. Basically, you cannot use the sauna if you are late for check-in or check out early.

The room condition was also disappointing, since I saw stains on the table rests and waste beneath the towels.

If you want to park inside the hotel, you must pay 15 euros, which is absurd, since the hotel is located outside the central area and there is nothing around it.

If you want to use the sauna and a bathrobe, you must ask in advance, as there are only a limited number at reception and we cannot borrow one at 7pm.

Good price and friendly staff. Although, I was under the impression that car parking was included only to find out at the counter that it was €11 a day. Also, normally you get tea in rooms but not in this one. These negative points should not stop you to stay at this hotel, it is air-conditiined and very convenient and comfortable.

It was a bit further to the centre than expected, but the bus and tram stop were 5 mins away. The team were always helpful, and the service level was really good. Only disappointment was the air conditioning . The first couple of days were quite hot and the air con wasn’t cooling the room sufficiently. Breakfast buffet food was was excellent, with a good spread.

I'm afraid we didn't feel safe walking in the area around. Every time we came out of the hotel we were hit with a barrage of smokers. They should have had a smoking area away from the hotel doors. The pool area was also not clean. However, the staff were friendly and we were only there for one night and the bedroom itself, although dated was clean.

Friendly people - decent breakfast - the disappointing thing is we booked for 2 adults and 3 kids. One booking. We were put in two rooms a very big distance from each other. So will all our clothes in same luggage this wasn't at all useful. Clearly one booking should be in two rooms next to each other?

Great hotel on the edge of the city, easy to get to from the motorway. An ideal stopping off point the staff were very friendly and helpful. Car parking was easy for a few euros. The dining menu was a little limited, but it was a Sunday night in fairness; regardless the currywurst and chips were good and my son enjoyed his pizza. Breakfast was also excellent.

Quick one night stay w family for phantasialand

Stayed at Mercure for one night before our trip to Phantasialand.
It was a normal room for 2 converted into a room for 4 ny adding 2 child beds. Not bad but then it left less room to move around.

Theres a tram stop nearby and we used the tram to visit the city.

Rest everything was alright.

We had two family rooms which were quite spacious with fridge to store our groceries that we bought at the supermarket just over the road. The kids absolutely loved the swimming pool which is heated. We chose to drive into the city but there is a team close by too.
Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. We would definitely stay again with our young kids.

Restaurant had limited menu due to COVID. Not enough children’s options. Also, they were unable to make change aspects of the food (for example plain pasta instead of spice) which was frustrating.

Had an awesome stay. The hotel is so convenient for local transportation and the staff are all very helpful and kind. The room was very nice and furnished to a good standard. In spite of many questions I had about local area, transport links, timings to the city, time for breakfast etc, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Lovely hotel - the location is a bit out of town, but a short walk to the tram stop that runs straight to the heart of Cologne.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The only downside was the scaffolding where refurbishment work was ongoing, but that was only a minor thing.

We stopped here on the way from Poland to the UK. We arrived at 1am and the night receptionist was very helpful (Turkish guy). The room was smallish but fit the four of us. Pool also smallish, but clean.

superb hotel has everything

My wife and I stayed at this hotel during one of Germany,s hottest spells and it was an oasis, everything that a guest needed was there for you, the staff where excellent from front of desk to the room servicing,nothing was too much bother for them,the superb breakfast can be eaten in the open air and even though I didn't use the bar It was always well attended by other guests, my wife used the pool twice a day there and though not large compared with other hotels we have stayed in my wife said it was fine,I have stayed in numerous 4 star hotels in Germany and this is the best one yet, the tram to the city centre is just a stroll away and the service is frequent, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and as my wife has fallen in love with cologne we will certainly be using this hotel again soon

Stylish European Hotel Easy Access to Koln

This is a clean, modern hotel with nice facilities. The breakfast is excellent, they have a nice bar area. The rooms are clean and modern. Small, outdated TV. Slippery tube/shower combination. Not a good choice if you are elderly. My only complaint is that the parking system sucks. They charge a reasonable amount for parking, but half the time your ticket doesn't work. You have to run back inside to get a new ticket. I would prefer they charge me 16 euros more a night and stop all the nonsense with the parking system.

This hotel was ideal situated just off the motorway so easy to get to and to explore Koln whilst able to leave the car without paying excessive city parking (but you do have to pay to park). check in was very easy with friendly, polite fluent English speaking staff.

The rooms (we had two booked) were generally clean and they were adjoining which was helpful but not requested (so demonstrates good customer service), but the decor was dated in terms of style and colour. The size of the room was good with a double and single bed in, plus a pull out if required. There was no ac/electronic heating control which made if difficult to regulate the temperature but with a window ajar it was not too noisy. The bathrooms boasted a strong powerful shower with plenty of hot water or bath if desired.

The hotel also supports a nice fitness pool which was available all day, as was the small fitness room (treadmill, bike, cross trainer) and a sauna (open in the evening).

Situated on the west side of Koln, the number 7 tramline runs a minute walk away and will,take you into the centre of Koln within 20mins. Also close by are a number of fast food outlets and situated across the road a couple of supermarkets ideal for daily provisions.

The draw backs to this hotel are the cost of food on the restaurant menu (including the cost of breakfast) and the charge for car parking given that it is barrier controlled, otherwise little more to complain about.

Would probably stay again.

The staff were pleasant and helpful. The location is convenient for shops and 10 minutes away from town centre. The room was clean and tidy. Very comfortable bed and pillows.
The breakfast choice is great. Loads of choice, good quality and a very good coffee. The swimming pool was nice, but the water could do with being 1-2 degrees warmer. We were offered a single bed for the baby instead of a cotbed, but we were lucky that we had our own travel cot with us.

Just right for the one night stopover.

We needed a place to sleep en route to Italy. This was just about perfect. Nothing flash but all we needed for a late arrival and early departure. Check in staff efficient and friendly. Accomodation had all that we required; comfortable bed and decent shower. One irritation was having to pay to park the car in the open air hotel car park. Surely residents should park for free.
