Check-in was easy breezy and with a smile. People are friendly as usual. The building is undergoing some renovation during daytime hours only, and to make things nicer for us, so I will not critique anything negatively. Happy experience!

Black hotel was even cooler than I had expected, it had such a great vibe, the staff were super helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable.

Under renovations, carpet in room was stained and shower drained slow. The bed was very comfortable. Staff was outstanding, help with directions around the city as well get our bags to and from our room. Location was ok, an hour walk to the Cathedral but the subway is also just down the street. Great service!

Interesting but impractical
The hotel is built inside a former industrial space. The layout of the room was interesting, but impractical. The desk space and bathtub are located together in the upstairs loft. There is nowhere to sit in the bed space. The high loft ceiling meant that it took a very long time to try to cool the room with the air conditioner. There was also a nightclub playing loud music in the same former industrial building.

A poorly executed niche idea.
I stayed three nights in Hotel Black Cologne. The hotel is located in Ehrenfeld, which for those who don't know the Cologne area, is quite a way away from Cologne centre.
The hotel is striking and the main lobby is pretty and enticing in the all black manner. The corridors are long and sleek. My room was however none of the above adjectives. It seemed as if the room was in the middle of undergoing a restoration; the walls didn't match, there was visible piping coming out of the bathroom ceiling and a smell of stagnant water was constantly unpleasant. The bath felt dirty and paint was coming off in flakes from the walls. The room door handle kept getting stuck too making it even difficult to escape. The room was unbelievably noisy with the studio above.
The bed was despite this very comfortable and the staff very pleasant.

Not really a hotel
Let me start by saying that the hotel is beautiful and it does look as good as the pictures, but that’s about it. We stayed for 5 days so we had plenty of time to see through the facade, the hotel is a industrial building that has been converted into 14 rooms, the first room was supposed to have air conditioning but the brand new unit didn’t work so we spent this first night in a hot humid room unable to sleep. The hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t change rooms. You’d think you could open a window to let in the 60 degree air from the outside to cool the room down a little but the rooms windows opened to the inside of the building that was just as hot. After speaking to the manager he said he would move us to a room with air conditioning that worked for the remainder of our stay. He did give us free coffee and a few coke’s from the mini bar for the inconvenience. We left for the day and returned to our new room, the new room didn’t have air conditioning but it did have two windows that opened to the parking/construction area next to the building so the room was cooler but with the windows open the noise never stopped! A few hours after we laid down to get some rest after a night of no sleep we heard drums playing, come to find out the hotel rents the basement out to bands for practice. The studio is connected to the hotel just outside the windows of the room. So for the next four days and nights we got to listen to the band practice for hours on end. Don’t stay here!

This hotel was just a 20 minute walk from the workshop I was attending and the rooms very clean. It was my first time in Cologne and the staff were very friendly, even providing a hand-drawn map (in English) to my location. However, on the last night of my stay, my Ipad was stolen from the room. The staff was very helpful with notifying the police and switching me to another room, but this obviously left a very sour ending to my stay there. Despite this, I think this is a very nice, cozy hotel.

No reception staff
I tried calling them 22 times from 7AM till 10:30AM on the day i was suppose to check in and there was no one picking up. I had to cancel my reservation because I got robbed in Paris loosing my valuebales and documents and needed to go back to Amsterdam in a hurry but when calling the hotel at 6:30PM the front desk clerk told me to call in the morning but when you call the next morning, no one ever answers, not even Expedia could get a hold of them till the next day. They still charged me for the room though. I stand with my review 100%!

Keine Weiterempfehlung!
Ich war beruflich für eine Nacht in diesem Hotel. Auch wenn die Fotos toll aussehen mögen – im Detail hakt es in jeder Ecke. Teilweise kann man Türen und Fenster nicht schließen, die Klimaanlage lässt sich trotz Fernbedienung nicht steuern, der Abfluss stinkt. Ich werde dieses Hotel sicherlich nicht noch mal aufsuchen und auch nicht weiterempfehlen

Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich. Allerdings muss hier und da doch mal was getan werden. Bei der Drückergarnitur der Toilette fehlte der Knopf. Tapete wurde schon mehrfach wieder gestückelt erneuert. Das Zimmer war sehr hellhörig. Trotzdem haben wir gut geschlafen.

Aber insgesamt sehr abgerockt. Die aufwändigen Lichtschalter funktionierten nicht so, wie sie sollten. Der Fernseher funktionierte gar nicht (auch nach Hinweis an die Rezeption gab es keine Hilfe). Safe ebenfalls nicht zu gebrauchen, weil jemand die Tür blockiert hat.
Unsanierter Wasserschaden in Bad/Flur (Türrahmen aufgequollen, Laminat lose/löchrig). Braune Flecken an der Gardine. Werden sicher nicht noch einmal buchen.

Das Hotel ist mit einer der besten Hotels indem ich je war. Der Eingang und die Service Kraft hat ein schönes und sehr nettes Auftreten. Die Begrüßung und das willkommen heißen wird in diesem Hotel Großgeschrieben!!! Die Zimmer sind sehr schön und groß eingerichtet. Das Hotel ist einfach eine 10 von 10!!!

Um einige aufzuzählen, Brausekopfhalter für die Dusche und Badewanne fehlen, Bettwäsche zerrissen, Beleuchtung teilweise o.F., alte Teile der Seifenspender an der Wand -> recht gefährlich und noch einige mehr.
Die Mängel haben wir an der Rezeption mitgeteilt, aber auch nach drei Wochen und Rückfrage-Mails unsererseits gab es nicht mal eine Reaktion.
Somit ist das Fazit für dieses Hotel eher schlecht.

Das Hotel liegt gefühlt an der hintersten Ecke Kölns, was garnicht so schlimm wäre, wäre der Aufenthalt wenigstens schön.
Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und viel versprechend aber bei der Ankunft im Zimmer endet schon alles positive.
Auf den Weg ins Zimmer ist mir aufgefallen, dass der Boden im Flur sehr uneben ist und ein paar Löcher hat aber mit einem sehr dicken Teppich abgedeckt worden ist. Da knickt man schnell weg, wenn am unachtsam ist.
Bei der Ankunft im Zimmer kommt einem ein sehr penetranter unangenehmer Duft entgegen, da möchte man nur noch durchlüften. Die Fenster zeigen in einen Innenhof, beim öffnen hört man jedes Worts welches gesprochen wird. Welches das lüften schwierig macht.
Es ist zwar ein Black Hotel, aber warum wurde an der Beleuchtung gespart oder eher dass man die mangelnde Hygiene nicht sieht?
Das Bad ist eine reinste Katastrophe!

Es war eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, sauber (bis auf Tasse am Waschbecken) und freundliches personal. Jedoch hat mir im Zimmer ein Föhn gefehlt. Weil der Boden aus Fliesen besteht und man nach dem Baden ungern barfuß rum läuft, gab es auch keine Einweg schlappen. Sonst alles top.

Der Boden war schmierig, die Fenster voller tatscher, der Abfluss hat sehr gestunken, das große Licht war kaputt & kurz vor Abreise am nächsten Tag fanden wir ein größtes Buschel Haare unter dem Tisch. Leider wurden wir ziemlich abgewiesen als wir dies an der Rezeption beim auschecken erwähnten.

Das Zimmer war riesig und es war auf jeden Fall eine Nacht, die sich von anderen, generischen Hotels unterscheidet. Vor allem das industrielle Flair, das sich aus den Ziegelwänden und den Stahlträgern ergibt kommt sehr gut. Allerdings gibt sich das Hotel chicer als es eigentlich ist. Das fängt dabei an, dass zB eine Kaffeemaschine und ein Wasserkocher auf dem Schreibtisch aufgebaut ist, aber von der Steckdose weit und breit die Spur fehlt. Beim Check In wollte man zuerst den gesamten vorab bezahlten Betrag abermals in Rechnung stellen, ein Fehler, wie die nette Damen nach einigen Minuten zugab. Das gesamte Hotel hat während des Aufenthalts nach einen penetranten Raumduft gerochen / gestunken. Seife war beim Bezug des Zimmers nicht vorhanden. Wurde dann aber sehr schnell bereitgestellt. Kann passieren. Zusammenfassend: Ein gutes Hotel in spezieller Atmosphäre in einer super Gegend der Stadt, dass noch Potenzial nach oben hat.

Hotel sieht stylisch aus. Dafür aber leider nicht so richtig gemütlich. Zimmer wie auf den Bildern. Wenn man es mag kann man ruhig buchen. Das Bad könnte mal wieder renoviert werden, geht aber noch, zumindest Toilette und Waschbecken könnten hochwertiger sein. Leider riecht es überall etwas seltsam. Ich dachte das wäre irgendein Reinigungsmittel. Beim Checkout, beidem es als Präsent einen Autoduft gab, stellte sich heraus, dass der Geruch anscheinend gewollt ist. Nicht ganz mein Ding. Die Tür ist echt etwas dünn. Bis mitten in der Nacht hat der im Zimmer gegenüber unverschämt laut Musik gehört, ich dadurch auch. Das Bett ist ganz gut. Die Badewanne in der oberen Etage mitten im Raum ist ungewöhnlich aber hat irgendwie was. Für Paare wahrscheinlich ganz cool. Die bekannte Venloer Straße ist zu Fuß in ca 5 Minuten zu erreichen. Dort gibt es das bekannte Kebabland und auch viele Vegetarische und Vegane Restaurants

Bis mitten in der Nacht bzw. bis fast Morgens 4-5 Uhr wütende Party-Teenager nebenan im Zimmer, bei der 3. Beschwerde an der Rezeption wurde das Zimmer von ca. 12 Leuten aufgelöst.. und die Diskussionen gingen im Flur weiter. Türe wurde beschmutzt.. etc. Diskussionen bis mitten in der Nacht, Beleidigungen etc. von den alkoholisierten Gästen nebenan bzw. waren diese über mehrere Zimmer verteilt..so dass es ohnehin immer ein hin und her im Flur war. Abgesehen davon hätte man viel früher durchgreifen müssen zur Zeiten wie diese... Nur weil wir uns Nachtruhe wünschten die man für den Preis auch bekommen sollte!
Ansonsten war es ein sehr atmosphärisches, schönes Zimmer. Hat aber etwas nach Abfluss gerochen und einige Kalkflecken auf den Fliesen im Bad wurden beim putzen nicht berücksichtigt.

Regendusche war undicht, konnten sie nicht anmachen, da sonst das Badezimmer unter Wasser stand. Gläser waren benutzt und wurden nicht ausgetauscht. Es war extrem warm im Zimmer, was man über die Klimaanlage auch nicht kälter bekommen hat, da man die Heizung nicht regulieren konnte. Im Bad war es extrem heiß, so dass man innerhalb von einer Minute extrem am Schwitzen war.
Das Zimmer war schick eingerichtet, das Bett war sehr gemütlich und es war sonst auch alles einigermaßen sauber. Badewanne war sehr geräumig und es war auch recht ruhig.

Ich habe mich nach der Buchung nochmal informiert, ob man nach 22 Uhr einchecken kann, es wurde mir bestätigt.

Kleines Hotel etwas außerhalb vom Zentrum gelegen, aber mit Busverbindung direkt vor dem Hotel. Ein Highlight ist natürlich die Badewanne auf der Bei uns roch es sehr unangenehm im Bad und der Abfluss vom Waschbecken lief sehr schlecht ab.

Einzigartig war natürlich das komplett schwarze Design und das tolle Bett. Schlecht war die Belichtung in dem ohnehin dunklen Zimmer. Hier müssen definitiv hellere Lichter installiert werden, da in unserem Zimmer nicht mal richtig Tageslicht hineinfiel...es war einfach nur finster. Wie soll man so einen dunklen Raum entsprechend sauber halten ? Im Bad sahen die Wände schon sehr abgenutzt aus. Das Fenster nach draußen schloß nicht richtig. Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig!!! Wir hatten das Pech, das Zimmer neben einem \"Liebespaar\" zu haben, sodass wir kaum ein Auge zubekommen haben. Wir würde das Hotel nicht wieder buchen und auch nicht empfehlen.

Außen macht das Hotel nicht viel her, aber sobald man im Eingangsbereich ist wird es ernst. Spätestens im Zimmer weiß man, dass man alles richtig gemacht hat. Riesen Bett, wenn man die Treppen hochgeht wartet eine große Badewanne in die locker 2 Personen passen. Im großen und ganzen ganz sauber hier und da mal Staub oder Kalk im Bad. Da das Zimmer so groß ist war es bisschen aufwendig das Zimmer auf eine angenehme Temperatur zu bringen. Minimale minus Punkte. Das Personal war sehr nett. Würde ich beim nächste Köln Trip gerne wieder Einchecken. Sehr empfehlenswert

Das Black Design Hotel ist ein Design Hotel. Das „dunkel“ gehaltene Design sieht absolut stark aus und macht was her. Es ist mal was anderes. Der Empfang, der Flur zu den Zimmern und das Zimmer an sich sahen klasse aus und passten optisch gut zusammen. Auf dem Zimmer hätte man eine angenehme Größe des Badezimmers, ein schön großes Boxspringbett und, wenn man nach oben gegangen ist eine Badewanne. Nur leider konnte man die Badewanne nicht so nutzen, da der Stopfen undicht war und das Wasser wieder langsam abgelaufen ist. Die dunklen Fliesen im Badezimmer hatten auch recht große Kalkflecken, was nicht so schön und sauber aussah. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung, man hatte eine kleine Auswahl, wovon man satt geworden ist. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Im Großen und Ganzen war es mal eine schöne Möglichkeit aus dem
Alltag zu entfliehen und zu entspannen. Uns hat es gut gefallen.
