I am a former resident of Hamburg, so this is pretty much home for me. Service was pretty accommodating and got us in the room in no time. The rolling stairs were out of service for most of the duration of our stay and the bath towels are pretty old. Other than that, excellent service, cleanliness is good and still my favorite place to stay.

Our room was dirty, and appeared to have just cganged the bed sheets. I was very disappointed as I have stayed here before and believe that the standards have dropped in this regard. Dust everywhere, mould in the shower and dirt on the wooden furniture.

Breakfast was fantastic, a variety of food options.

Hotel is very nice and clean. The views from the 12th floor are stellar and the cargo cranes in the port is within view.

Very beautiful property, if you get a car you definitely have to pay for thier parking inside or outside. If you opt to drive a car the driving in germany is pretty easy other then the people on bicycles who dont seem to have any common sense or survival instinct.

On normal nights the street is loud and full of people because its right next to a popular train station and St Pauli is a popular destination with the local populace at night. The neighborhood does look rather grimy with spray paint but is perfectly safe for anyone with common sense.

The downtown area is 5 stops away and most of hamburg is within easy reach of mass transit. Also the hotel is taller then most buildings which makes it easy to find when your walking around.

I only knocked off a star on property condition and facilities because the pillows were terrible and hurt my neck, the electric powered shades in the bathroom didnt work in my moms room and her mirror fell off the wall, niether of these problems are due to shoddy maintenance and problems like these are prone to happen, and when these problems were brought up to staff, the mirror was fixed promptly, and for the shades the hotel knows about the problem and management is working on a solution.

Excellent hotel if you want to sight see, i will definitely stay here again. I did not eat at the hotel resteraunt or bar.

Really great hotel in an amazing old building. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Excellent buffet breakfast and appreciated it ran until midday so no rush. Great location for easy access to the city by foot or on the train.

What I liked most is the design and how they Incorporated the old water tower so elegantly into a hotel. It's like staying in a museum. The rooms are quite comfortable and the beds exceptional. I did not get a chance to try the cave bar but it looked really cool.

States on line parking but access is narrow and staff neglected to state a coin was needed to exit…. Made a very difficult reverse
The Air-conditioning control was broken so to sleep the windows had to be opened and the noice was bad.
The lift to the garage malfunctioned but the door open at the parking level.
On exiting the lift floor was 10/12 inches higher than the floor and I was lucky to stay on my feet.

The hotel is a little off the beaten path and walking to the Reeperbahn dodged homeless and druggies

Not a pleasant stay

The room was ok and the bed comfortable
If Airconditioning worked it certainly would have helped

Nice hotel, good location for nightlife and not too far from centre shopping area, 10 mins on train or 30 minute walk. Beautiful building with history. Located in a park so u can find some unsavoury characters nearby late at night but that is an issue with any big city across Europe near nightlife. Bed was a bit soft for my liking but the hotel was well located, clean, staff very friendly and helpful so I would recommend and stay again. Unfortunately I did not eat at hotel so cannot comment on food however lots of options few minute walk away.

Nice hotel and in a cool area. But they stopped my card at the hotel on day 2 claiming that they had tried to take payment and it hadnt been authorised.

I went to reception within 5 minutes and asked them to process the same card they alreasy had on file, and it went through without any issues.

Found it a little rude.

Amazing building. Rooms however a bit soulless. Due to a mix up by the hotel we experienced a Classic room for 3 or 4 hours before being installed in the Superior room we had actually paid for. The only difference (that I could tell) was we were moved up a few floors. A lot of the staff were really not particularly friendly or welcoming (except the guy who took our bags when we first arrived who was great). My real gauge of a hotel is answered by one question. Would I go back? The answer to the Movenpick is simple. No.

The hotel is quirky in that it has been constructed within a former water tower so the rooms radiate around the central lift area on each floor. The rooms are spacious, light, airy and beautifully fitted out with a huge bed, wardrobe, desk, a couple of easy chairs and a small table for relaxing, plus a safe. The bathroom was ultra modern with a large shower and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the edge of a park so the rooms on that side of the building have a lovely view from the windows. Being only a few minutes walk from both the U Bahn and S Bahn at Sternschanze the location was excellent for getting into and around the City quickly and easily. My only reservation was that in the evenings groups of foreign youths hung around outside the exit from the station hassling passengers, which was a concern for a solo traveller.

I love the fact that the water tower was repurposed well! I love the sound effects as you enter the hotel . Rooms were excellent. Please note that the bathroom mat in room 402 should be thrown out.

Hotel's location is very good. Near to metro and city center.
Our room was facing the Dome which had late night parties (August). They stopped the sound at midnight.
The restaurant closes rather early. And breakfast was too expensive.
However there are lots of restaurants at walking distance.

Good aria and perfect breakfast. However our room was really warm and the ac did not work properly. First night the hotel just stated that it will be better and without any further action or follow-up. Next day after we contacted them that came to the room, confirmed that it was too warm and that the control unit was defect, but the only action was to get us a table top fan. It helped a little with the heat, but with a high noise as a side effect. Two nights of bad sleep. Good thing the coffee was good in taste and supply at breakfast.

Very great location.
Unfortunately given the structure of the building, the rooms are rather small.
The hotel would also benefit from a more up to date furniture.
Last it is sad that there is no bluetooth speakers or USB plug to recharge a cell as it is becoming rather standard everywhere.
Staff is very helpful and nice at the reception which is far from being the case at the bar. Does not really makes you want to return as you feel you are always bothering them.

I certainly didn't like the fact that if iwould of had breakfast then it would of cost me 25 euros, outrageous. I also used the bar on the first night only to be charged 18 euros for a gin & tonic , no wonder the bar was empty.

2 gange under vores ophold besøger vi baren. Vi bliver mødt med en nedladende og ugidelig attitude af bartenderen.
Det virker til at vi er til besvær. Bartenderen kigger ikke på os under bestillingen og går uden at sige noget efter at have taget imod bestillingen. Det samme sker dagen efter. Så vi ender med at gå og finde et andet sted at sidde.

Teilweise sehr staubig, Fenster dreckig, wassergeräusche im Foyer haben irgendwann genervt. Sehr unfreundlicher Service in der Bar. Wir hatten uns insgesamt mehr erwartet, dennoch ist das Hotel gut im Preis-Leistung und auch Frühstück samt Service waren gut. Zimmer mit Aussicht sind Pluspunkt.

Wir hatten einen Bademantel an der Rezeption bestellt. Es wurde uns gesagt, dass direkt einer ins Zimmer gebracht wird. Nach einer Stunde war er leider immer noch nicht da… und wir haben das Warten dann aufgegeben. Die Zimmerkarten funktionierten nicht, so dass ein Angestellter immer mit zum Zimmer kommen musste, wenn man in sein Zimmer wollte. Es regnete rein in die Lobby, dort waren mehrere Eimer aufgestellt und das Wasser aufzufangen. Frühstück war gut und die Freundlichkeit des Personals war auch gut.
