Charming hotel in great location

We stayed as a family of four for two nights in the summer. The hotel has an old world charm about it, with spacious rooms and comfortable beds - great for kids.

The a/c wasn’t brilliant but seems like there may have been a fault and a technician was booked to check it. The staff provided a huge fan to help cope with the heat. The rooms are a little worn but that adds to the old world style charm.

The hotel is well located, being just a 5 minute walk from the main station and a 7 minute walk to the metro and trams.

Old town is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel too.

There are plenty of local restaurants close by, away from the tourist traps, offering fantastic food at reasonable prices. Very close to the tourist options too.

Staff were very friendly and attentive and speak a number of languages.

Overall, great stay and would recommend.

Wonderful short stay at the Esplanade Hotel. Very convenient location, just steps from the main train station and still within easy walking distance of principal sights and the metro. Very comfortable room, quiet, with a good bed and strong wifi. Excellent breakfast selection. Grateful for early check-in too.

Convenient and charming

The hotel is a short walk from the train station, and walkable to the center of Prague. The front desk staff and concierge were friendly, helpful, and efficient, and the room was so clean.

Booked a room with twin beds. Bedroom and bathroom both spacious and clean. Had a mini fridge and aircon which both worked.

Buffet breakfast was good. Not a huge variety like some hotel buffets but had all the basic hot and cold foods.

Hotel is in quiet street just a few minutes walk from main train station and museum and a block away from main shopping and restaurant precinct.

Would definitely recommend to stay here

Classy grand old hotel very close to train station. Right around the corner from the New Town main drag. Walkable to all the sites in Old Town. Very comfortable room. Elevator for ease of moving bags. Highly recommended.

Good location and room…rest lacking

Mixed experience. Good location and good room size. Hotel is dated. Wifi was not working in my room and they never fixed it. Breakfast was not good at all. Even though we had the largest room in the hotel there was no coffeemaker in the room and not even the usual complimentary bottle of water.

Pleased in Prague

It was a very good quality hotel especially for the price that I paid. Nice lobby, very professional reception desk personnel and a nice restaurant and coffee bar in the lobby. I accidentally left something important in my room safe and returned the next day and they were very helpful and accommodating my retrieval. I will definitely stay here again.

Staff at check in desk were extremely friendly, and organised early packed breakfasts for one early day trip.

Great location for an average hotel. This is not a luxury hotel as described. It is a very old building with outdated amenities and decor. Expect to have to crawl under tables to find an outlet. It did have the best bathtub a tall person could wish for. Not handicap friendly as there are stairs leading to the hotel as well as up to the elevator. Wi-Fi was decent. Beds and pillows comfortable enough for a night or two.

All things considered, this is a fancy, traditional hotel that definitely appeals more to older travelers like me. I will consider staying there again if I revisit Prague in the future.
Suggested improvement: add a coffee maker and a small microwave oven if practical. Given the number of electronic devices people use today, they could also consider adding a more convenient power outlet for charging purposes.

The number 1 selling point was the staff. They were very attentive, helpful, and friendly. The location was terrific as it was close to the Prague train station and to a tram stop and to the subway.. The tourist sites are about 10 minutes walk away.

Horrible! Avoid.

It was the most horrible so called \"5 star\" hotel I have ever stayed in and I travel a lot. I have never experienced something like this in my last 20 years of travel accross the globe. I had a junior suite booked for 4 nights.

Just to list a few points of my dissapointment:

1. The worst breakfast spread i have ever seen. Found a bug in apple juice container.

2. No water in the room. Only available with a charge.

3. No kettle in the room..we were told it is due to security reasons. If you need hot water you need to go down request for it.

4. No Air conditioning in the room with sofa beds where kids would sleep.

5. No dental kits available even upon request.

6. No Iron or ironing table and when asked for it they said they can only give it in the morning. (They were prompt in delivering it in the morning).

7. No weighing scale/machine in the room. When requested they said they only have one weighing machine in the hotel and it needs to be returned to reception immediately after use. Most staff does not even know it exists.

8. Hair dryer is wall mounted gaint machine and is extremely old. It heats up crazily and stops working with one use. You need to wait for it to cool down for it to start working again.

The staff was curtious and generally nice except one lady (name: R****) at the front desk who was extremely rude.

Location was the only and best part of the hotel. It is very conveniently located.

I would never stay in this hotel again.

This is a historical building that has been nicely renovated. Our room was nice and clean, albeit a bit noisy at night due to some activities in the common areas. The free breakfast was wonderful. The receptionists were fluent in English, the other staff not so much. Sometimes they nodded but they did not actually understand. The proximity to both, the old town and the rail station was fantastic.

Gem of a hotel

Lovely 1920’s hotel, very gentile atmosphere and very comfortable room & bed. Breakfast was good with a selection of hot & cold foods. Very convenient for all the tourist sights, and just across the road from the fabulous state opera house if you fancy an evening of culture. Overall I would certainly stay at the hotel again.

A nice looking property with a simple but clean room.

Staff were cold and largely unhelpful unless directly pressed for anything (although the night manager was great and ordered me a pizza, there was no room service late at night).

Restaurant and bar were both closed for the duration of the stay.
