Everybody at the hotel was very friendly, and the area around it was absolutely beautiful. The only thing I would like to criticize is the fact that the parking spaces that the hotel provides are way too small for hybrids and SUVs. Free street parking in that area is almost impossible to find, and the ’payant’ spaces are outrageously expensive

I recently stayed at Le Jean-Sébastien Bach in Strasbourg and was thoroughly disappointed. The bed linens were not fresh, giving the room more of a hostel feel than a hotel. The heating system was inadequate, leaving us cold throughout the night. Additionally, the hotel felt outdated and in need of renovation. Overall, it was a regrettable experience, and I would not recommend this hotel.

I had a very pleasant quiet, peaceful, and relaxing stay at your hotel and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of your city with so much to see and take in. Most of all, I enjoyed the time that I had to meet with old friends from the past which was the purpose of my trip. I enjoyed the privacy I had at the hotel and the set up of my room. Loved the beautiful bath tub which I would soak in after long days exploring the city. May God grant me the opportunity to return and spend time and see all the beautiful town along the Wine route, especially Colmar

great location, but needs air conditioning working

Everything was pretty spot on with one exception, we called them to let them know the air conditioning was not working and we were told “wait as it should take some time to kick in”, unfortunately we never managed to get it to work during a weekend where there was 30 C heat. Location is amazing if you are looking for nature and a calm stay.

The hotel is located in a quiet residential area close to Strasbourg's largest park - L'Orangerie. Nice balconies and courteous staff. Large street food market very close by on Sundays on blvd de la marne. Would stay there again.

Le jean Sebestien is an Ideal place to stay in Strasbourg. Very comfortable large rooms with kitchen facilities. Surprisingly well equipped full kitchen in small space well managed. Just 10 min walk to tram which takes you to city center and major attractions in 15 minutes. We had a very comfortable stay. Staff was very nice and breakfast was very good. Everyone had good smiling attitude. We enjoyed our stay.

Good value and free parking

Excellent reception when checking in. Lots of help offered for getting around and recommendations of what to do.
The hotel was useful when bringing a car in that there was plenty of free parking on the street nearby and it seemed a safe area.
With breakfast included, the hotel was clean, comfortable and for the one night we stayed, was excellent value for the price.

We loved this property because is was not in the center of town, but out near the largest park in the city. It was walking distance to public transit; very quiet neighborhood (and a very quiet hotel), excellent and bountiful breakfast and the staff (desk, wait and housekeeping staff) were friendly and courteous. The room was large and there was a balcony on which you could have meals or just sit and enjoy the sights. Highly recommended - would stay here again.

The hotel is very nice and well located for the European institutions. Staff was lovely and helpful and the in-room breakfast was delicious.
I'm putting four stars instead of five because I did have some issues connecting to the Wifi - it's an unsecure network so my phone wouldn't let me connect and my laptop needed lots of persuading. I didn't try asking for help from staff though since I wasn't staying long, so I don't know if they could have solved it!

Lovely Hotel and Location!

Checkin was quick and easy. The location was very nice. A park across the street and a Saturday market one block away. The rooms are nice size and the balcony was perfect. It allowed me to smoke a nice cigar and see the park. The only reasons I am not giving five stars are; the breakfast area is very small so you either wait or don’t include breakfast in your booking. They were very apologetic and offered bread to go, and I think the carpet in our room needed to be cleaned probably from the winter season.

A bit far from town center, but OK overall

The hotel is located about 3 km from center of Strasbourg near the Orangerie park in a quiet area. Also the rooms are soundproof and we never heard any of our neighbors. It's nice to have a park nearby and free parking available on the street, although there are a few things worth noting:
1) choice of restaurants within walking distance is very limited. There is an Italian restaurant in the next building, two restaurants in the park (both were closed almost all the time during our stay) and a few bakeries and take away shops. Fortunately, Uber Eats and Deliveroo both deliver to the hotel.
2) only instant coffee is available for breakfast.
3) room had a few spaces with thick dust layers. We found a bottle left by other guests under the bed. One day cleaning took all the shower gels and soaps away from the room, but didn't bring any new, another day nobody came to clean the room at all (and when we returned we found that 'please make up my room' sign was reverted to 'do not disturb').
4) we asked to fix a light bulb in the extractor fan, but nobody fixed it.
5) although initially we got a confirmation for a double bed in the room, we got two single beds upon arrival. After 2 days the hotel allowed us to change the room.
6) would be nice to have slippers/bathrobes in the room for that price.

Overall, a good option when coming with a car.

A nice place to stay in Strasbourg.

Our suite was roomy, comfortable, and quiet, Though the hotel is in an older building, it has been totally modernized...New shower, kitchen side-bar with stove,microwave, fridge, small washing machine, dishes, etc. The people at the desk were consistently pleasant and helpful. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, near a large city park( excellent walking)-government buildings across the park. The old city area is a 20 or so minute tram ride from the hotel area. (This hotel is not in the old city, as advertised, but we totally enjoyed our stay there- and found our way to the old city area on 2 occasions. The breakfast has a breadth of choices-fresh fruit, breads, eggs,cheese, yogurt, etc. What we appreciated most was the size of the \"living room\" area and the quiet atmosphere of the hotel. Bathroom amenities were left daily by the cleaning staff. These included: a comb, shoe cleaner, bath hat, soap, etc
I should mention that the hotel is not far from a major highway, making it easy to get into and out of the city.
All in all, we were extremely with our experience at this hotel

Spacious 2 room 'suite' with a large balcony overlooking the park. Staff were very helpful, especially when balcony door broke and would not close! Room clean, but a little 'tired'. Breakfast was fine, reasonable choice, but some of the hot food took 15-20 minutes to be replenished. Good location, free parking spaces on the street outside. Felt like a safe area and a few restaurants within 10 minute walk, or access to trams and city centre.

Spacious and well located

Excellent location for the Council of Europe and the beautiful Orangerie park. Stayed with the family while attending meetings and the hotel was ideal for this. The room was extremely spacious, comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. It was also very quiet - ideal if you need a good sleep or are traveling with small children. There are a few areas where improvements might be made - the room needed a bit of maintenance (one of the balcony doors not working and a broken tile or two in the bathroom) and the breakfast could be improved (ran out of some items by 9am, and not much in the way of fresh fruit). But overall a good experience for the price, and ideal if you are looking for a spacious and quiet room. I will likely be returning.

Quiet location about 25 min walk to city centre. 10 minute walk to the nearest tram stop with frequent service to city centre. Top tip hire a Veloped bicycle for the time of your stay - cycle paths everywhere and low hire cost (10 mins to city centre - no hills). Great city to explore - Strasbourg Passport best value. Hotel staff were very helpful. Breakfast was adequate - could be improved with higher quality products.
Aircon noisy and not very effective. Shower and beds good. Hotel was busy but never noisy or crowded. Opposite a delightful country park open to the public.

4 star European hotels are a far cry from 4 star US hotels, and Strasbourg only has one 5 star hotel -- but the staff at this hotel is MEAN, punitive, and goes out of their way to be unfriendly. The front desk staff is continually huffing and puffing at any question you ask. We tried to get info about the surrounding area, how to take the tram, where to go to dinner, how to get to the airport : all of this was met with disdain and we were literally told to go figure it out ourselves. The wifi connection only works in the lobby so the place is jammed with lap tops, and ipads as people perch on any surface they can find. The room had stains in the carpets, the towels are thin, the amenities in the bath are pitiful. The beds are like cots. The breakfast staff is also unkind. They seem to be annoyed that you eat, and use the dishes. You are certainly not greeted with a BONJOUR! in the AM. The hotel is in a nice neighborhood, but the staff makes you feel like you are under siege and in the way.

Clean & affordable hotel next to a park

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. We had a room for 2 adults and 2 kids. The beds were comfortable, the linens were pure white. The bathrooms are modern. Our room was on the top fifth floor with a nice view. The continental breakfast was sufficient and there was a variety of everything. The hotel is a half hour walk to the city center or you can take a tram, but a tram is 10 minutes walk from the hotel and the wait for the tram can be 10-20 minutes, so we walked. The neighborhood is upscale. The kids enjoyed the walk in the L'Orangerie park, a small zoo, a book shelf with free books in French and an ice cream stand.

The cleanliness of the room was outstanding. Great to get free wifi in the lobby so I could just work while having a drink. Slightly outside the busi-ness of the city which I liked. The tram stop was about a 10/15 minute walk but given the weather was so lovely it worked out ok....wouldn't be good in poorer weather though. Breakfast was fine too...cereals, bread, croissants, fruit, yoghurts etc. I'd definitely stay here again.

Friendly and efficient check in. Spotless comfortable room. Nice safe location. I paid for private parking in secure garage (by that I mean you are given your own garage). Well worth it as area has tow away warning signs in the street. Street parking would be fine if you are away early in the morning. The breakwast was excellent too.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The suite was magnificent. The only thing I thought it would benefit from is either a door through to the toilet from the bathroom or a sink in with the toilet. You have to walk from the toilet all the way through the suite to the bathroom to wash your hands.
The breakfast was good with a varied selection. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was good for where I wanted to be which was the University. However the restaurants nearby were not fantastic and the staff not particularly freindly.

Great combination of apartment & full 4 star hotel

The apartrments are just across the road from the beautiful Orangerie park.
The Council of Europe and European Court of Human Rights are just the other side of the park, a lovely pleasant walk.
The apartments were spotless, and well kept, and fully cleaned every day.
The kitchenette has a cooktop,microwave, fridge, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans. All you need to look after yourself.
Alternatively there is 24/7 room service, with reasonable prices.
There is a hair-dryer, trouser press, spare pillows and blankets, internet access. large bathroom with toiletries, large balcony/terrace with table and chairs.
There is a hot and cold buffet breakfast in the morning.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
This was my second stay at Le Jean-Sebastian Bach - I've stayed in Strasbourg, for work, over 20 times. I would certainly recommend it, particularly if working at the European institution. I'll be back.

The double room we had was good with a separate lounge and bedroom with a television in both rooms. The room was well fitted out with amenities and comfortable. The selection of food for breakfast was good. I managed to park my car on the street just outside the hotel. The city centre was a good 30 minutes walk but an excellent, regular, cheap tram service was only 15 minutes away.

Smelly room with a torture device as coach-bed

The room was very smelly. The upside is that after 8 minutes you do not smell any longer, but extremely unpleasant every time you enter the room.

The queen size bed was a coach with a very thin mattress that was very uncomfortable to sleep in.

They do not clean you table for breakfast, you have to eat on a dirty one.

Highlights:
Clean comfortable rooms.
Close to the Orangery Park....provides for good relaxing stroll.
Good service at the morning buffet.
Cons:
A long walk from the nearest Tram stop.
Expensive onsite parking though you may get lucky to find free street parking.
Expensive WIFI, free only in the Lobby.
No GYM, sauna or swimming pool.

But on the whole quiet stay in a nice neighbourhood.

Le Jean-Sebastien Bach - a good choice

This was my second stay at the J-S Bach, and I have found it a very good alternative to the big chains. It's located in a quiet, predominantly residential, area close to the Orangery Park, and a walk across the park brings you to the European Parliament. It's not particularly convenient for public transport but within a ten-fifteen minute walk of a tram stop. My room was large, clean and comfortable, with a balcony and kitchenette - no tea and coffee facilities, though. Everything worked as it should. The choice at breakfast was a bit limited, the only hot choices being scrambled egg and sausages, but the individual pot of coffee on each table was a welcome touch.

Le Jean - Sebastian Bach Hotel is located in a very quite area very close to the Orangerie Park ( a must visit) but it is about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the tram which takes you to the city.
The rooms are big and spacious, very clean bathrooms and fresh towels and with Hotel.com we had a very good deal for the suit.
Breakfast was just alright. Unfortunately, the Breakfast hall is small and always full but some how we managed to seat ourselve on the almost 60m x 60m table which was too smal for 4 people.
On the whole it's a good hotel.

A charming boutique hotel on the outskirts of Strasbourg near the L'Orangerie. Room was extremely nice, excellent complimentary breakfast. A little difficult to find, but the location is good, within walking distance of an idyllic park, the grounds of hotel feature a nice water park as well. Very nice experience

Hotel is situated close to European quarter and a bit \"far for walk\" to downtown. However, rooms are excellent, well furnished, spacious and have equiped kitchenette and very beautiful park is just across the street (including small zoo). Stay here was highly enjoyable experience and I would recommmend it to anyone. Good price is just one more good thing related to this hotel. Only average thing there was breakfast.

Residence Jean Sebastien Bach is a Great Place to

Besides having great facilities the hotel is across a very nice park and withing a short walk there are supermarkets and patisseries for getting things to have in the room. The small kitchenette makes this a convenient way to stretch the travel budget. Also, within a 15 walk there is access to the Tram which can take you to the key places to visit as well as the train station.

It is a nice hotel. Nice room. They have room service, and they have a breakfast buffet. I LOVED the neighborhood. The staff was a little.....nice with twinge of rudeness? I can't put my finger on it, but they could have been nicer. Overall, though, I had a nice stay.

Personnel sympathique et disponible. Bon emplacement des appartements pas trop loin du centre de Strasbourg. Quartier calme.
Appartement propre, bien equipé, juste un petit bémol pour le lit canapé déformé et inconfortable, sinon, tout etait parfait. Nous sommes restés 5jours a l’appartement 2 pièces Privilège avec balcon.

Schrecklicher Service, falsches Zimmer, Lärm

Wir haben ein falsches Zimmer bekommen, ohne normale Terrasse mit schrecklichem Lärm, mit Aussicht auf die Garage. Gebucht war Appartement Deluxe. Wir haben mehr als eine Stunde für die Klärung mit der Rezeption verloren, aber es hat leider Nichts gebracht. Ich war dort definitiv letztes Mal. Dazu haben die Zimmerkarten nicht funktioniert, man musste immer wieder die Rezeption bitten, die Zimmertür zu öffnen.

Petit-déjeuner pas à la hauteur

Excellent logement, avec un bémol pour le petit-déjeuner, qui n’était pas à la hauteur de l’établissement : pains et viennoiseries qui ne dataient pas du jour. Certes, beaucoup de commerce sont fermés le dimanche en Alsace, mais j’y ai quand même vu des boulangeries ouvertes. Par ailleurs, la salle est très petite, ce qui conduit à mettre des tables en partie dans le couloir

Udemærket hotel

Hotellet virker en anelse slidt, men er eller udemærket. Der var rent og pænt, da vi kom, vi var der kun en overnatning. Morgenmaden var gennemsnitlig, der var de ting, man kan forvente.
Skal man til centrum, skal man enten gå et godt stykke, eller man kan tage en letbane.

L'établissement fait assez vieillot.
En pleine épisode de canicule, l'établissement ne met même pas d'eau à disposition de ces clients. Ils vendent des bouteilles d'eau (33cl ou 50cl) à 4€ l'unité : une honte.
La climatisation ne fonctionnait pas dans nos chambres : impossible de dormir. Le petit déjeuner est médiocre. Néanmoins les chambres sont propres et spacieuses avec une petite odeur de vieux. Le 4 étoiles n'est pas mérité.
