Guests are not allowed to use the refrigerator; if you want to use it, you have to pay 10 euros. I paid 250 euros per room per night. The minibar is off-limits; if you want to eat anything, you have to pay a 100 euro deposit. Most five-star hotels include this in the room rate. When I asked if they could remove items from the refrigerator so I could store yogurt and medicine, the hotel said they could, but I would have to pay an extra 10 euros. The room was very old. The air conditioning didn't work; I asked the hotel to fix it, but they sent a fan instead. The curtains wouldn't open. When showering, the hot water suddenly turned cold. This is a five-star hotel? It doesn't deserve five stars; two stars would suffice. I feel terrible; it was a really bad experience.

Nice stay in Strasbourg

The Sofitel is well located in Strasbourg, close to all the major attractions and public transport. The staff are friendly and attentive. The hotel is somewhat worn in places with stained carpets in corridors and room lobbies. Bed was clean and comfortable and the room was quiet.

Would not recommend, try any other 3 star hotel

Staff were nice and housekeeping was great (very clean), this review is about the condition of the hotel. The hotel definitely doesn’t feel like ‘5 stars’; dated & run down, musty/damp room smell that doesn’t go away, a lot of ambient HVAC background noise. Won’t be booking Sofitel by default again for a while.

The location in the old town is great for walking, however the streets are closed during the Christmas markets so we had to wheel our luggage a few blocks to the hotel. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The propery is a bit run down and in need of refurbishment. Our bathroom sink was cracked, the vanity had a gash in it, the carpet was worn and the towels were a bit dingy and scratchy. The buffet breakfast was very good.

Almost impossible to get hold of the concierge
Ask Hotel for assistance to get a transportation from the airport to the hotel, there was some communication issues and multiple phone calls were ignored and non-answered and not returned back. They still charge me overhunted euros for Driver service. I never used. Now I have to fight to get that money back. Too much hassle for nothing Hotel was great. Food was great. Staff was incredible however one of the concierge who was scheduling the transportation was not so good.
First time the hotel tells me to bad, but you are gonna pay for something you don’t use

Room was very comfortable and hotel well located. Food in hotel restaurant (both buffet breakfast and dinner) was excellent as was the service. The only thing that should be changed is the carpeting in the room — it was looking its age and should be replaced with flooring that is easier to clean.

This is a wonderful hotel! This was our second time staying at this property. The staff is exceptional! They went above and beyond at checkout to get us to our departure bus at the train station so we would not miss out flight. I cannot thank them enough. Wonderful service! The lobby, restaurant, and rooms were nice, but the hallways were somewhat creepy. Other than that, it was a lovely stay. The only reason I deducted a star was because we had the do not disturb sign on our door, and yet housekeeping knocked at 8:00 AM asking if we wanted service.

The location of the hotel is perfect, the restaurant is delicious, the staff were all great.... But the maintenance of the rooms is shaky. Things like painting and tilework were done by pretty unskilled tradespeople.

Perfect stay in a Perfect Place

The staff was professional and very friendly and helpful. Conveniently located near the Christmas markets and in a beautiful area, the hotel couldn’t have been a better choice for us.
We also loved that they have their own little Christmas market right outside the doors.
Décor is lovely. We particularly loved the large stork mobile hanging in the lobby!

The Sofitel was in a safe quiet area of Strasbourg but convenient to everything. The Cathedral was a 10 minute walk as were all the shopping and restaurants.

Wouldn’t call it 5 star. Dust everywhere in the room, if you move any piece of furniture it was thick with dust. Charges for absolutely everything! Got charged even after check out which I have no idea what for because I didn’t use anything so beware! Also 100 € deposit for every night you stay is ridiculous, I stay in hotels 2-3 times the prices back home and never have to pay these prices. Adjust your price to cover everything otherwise it just feels dishonest. Reception staff were very helpful and about the only real positive, would say an average overall rating, nothing flash.

Great location brilliant property, food, drinks and staff. Police security was very strict when driving in so make sure if your going for the Christmas markets that you have the right paperwork from the hotel. Good place but could be better

The hotel was in a great position with very helpful staff and the bed was comfortable and the bathroom excellent. The size of the room was a bit of a problem, I could hardly open my case and it is on the small side, the samsonite shell type one up from carry on! Also you could not open the door if you were sitting at the desk or if you did not remember to position the desk chair as far in and to the left as possible.The shag pile carpet was looking very tired and not clean, I would not walk on it in bare feet. The Sofitel hotel is in a great area of Strasbourg. What made this an excellent experience was the staff. Beatrice was not only welcoming, but very helpful and went out of her way to do whatever she could to make our stay enjoyable.

The hotel was located in a pretty area very near the Christmas Markets (the reason for our visit). The Concierge at the hotel was very helpful getting us reservations for dinner. He had a lot of good suggestions for us and we appreciated his help!

Sofitel in Strasbourg is a run-down property that has not been renovated properly for decades. The rooms are small. The bathrooms and furniture are outdated. The TV was worse than in a motel. The lobby was not welcoming and the restaurant was not cozy. It is almost impossible to find the underground parking, which is prohibitively expensive. There was one person at the reception desk to check-in and check-out guests which caused a huge line-up. Completely disappointing.

Overall it was a comfortable and nice room except that the Housekeeping kept giving only 2 sets of towels and toiletries on the first few days despite our reminder. We booked room for 3 pax. And they forgot to clean up our room on 1 day. Reception and concierge staff were friendly and helpful.
