Our stay was lovely at hotel Victoria, the reception staff were so kind, helpful and welcoming. Sometimes being a person of colour in Europe can be daunting but the hotel and Basel in general felt safe.

Only slight feedback I would have is for cleaning, some used plates , mugs etc were not removed or cleaned and rubbish was not taken from the room ( we have accumulated it in a bag and placed it next to the dustbin as all of it would not fit in the bin). Bed and bathroom was cleaned so that was no problem.

The hotel was fantastic. It was situated in the perfect position for us, as it was very close to the train station and we spent a lot of time visiting other cities via the trains. The staff were very attentive and friendly and very helpful whenever we had any questions. They gave us a Basel card on arrival to grant us free inner-city transport and 50% discount on museums, which was a great help. The room was always kept very clean and we were very warm and comfortable there. Cannot fault our stay here, it was perfect.

I would have given 5 stars and rated it excellent except our room was super warm and we could not adjust temperature ( it was winter time). Secondly and more importantly, our room was right on the square and the trams rail lines ran right out our window. It was difficult to get a good nights sleep. However, the staff was kind, super helpful and accommodated us with our luggage when we arrived early. The room was very nice with good space and amenities. Just rough being on the noisy train station square.

You can’t beat the location; it’s super close to the train station, the river, and the Christmas markets. The staff weren’t super friendly on arrival. We sat outside on the patio on arrival (waiting less than 15 min for our check in time) and staff told us we couldn’t sit there (all the tables were literally empty). The room was nice and spacious, but the restroom was sooo moldy (you could smell it). We stayed for one night and that was enough.

You cannot beat a better location in Basel. Its right next to the train station that takes you around the city and out of the city if you wish. The location has stores that will address any need you have. The breakfast they provide is excellent providing something for everyone. The gym facility is poor with no air circulation and very warm. The entrance smells of cigarette smoke which is off putting. We don’t know if it was our room but the A/C while cooling left everything musty and damp. The hotel provides a Basel pass that gets you free use of public transit in the city and discounts for your sightseeing. Lastly, the staff was great. Friendly and helpful.

Never ever again Basel.

Starting with the good points. It’s very close to the SBB train station. Now the bad. It’s crazy noisy. I was in room 126 and every morning delivery trucks turned up at 4 AM right outside my window. Avoid. When I complained was told we are busy. Good for them. No kettle in the room, told they are illegal 🙄 and to make coffee flavoured tea using the coffee machine. So had to go to Starbucks for tea at £4 a pop. Shower is lukewarm - horrible. Rooms are tiny bathroom claustrophobic. Checking out they couldn’t print a receipt 🙄.

Does have a very expensive breakfast but we opted to do our own. Only surprise was a city tax of 4 CHF per person per day charged at check out. Overall, very good hotel and amenities.

The staff was incredibly helpful and the room was perfect for the two of us, with very comfortable beds and pillows. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will come back if we find ourselves in Basel again.

I have been in Victoria hotel 3 times. I do like the location near to the main station. The staffs are very helpful on luggage deposit even though I came early before the Check In time. Hotel Victoria was in a great location to use the vast tram system in Basel. It is directly across from the train station and there are quite a few shops inside the station itself. Fraser at the front desk was very helpful to answer my MANY questions about the train station, fun activities (I was expecting to go to the museum, but it was closed on Mondays), and recommended a restaurant for my cuisine preferences. I really enjoyed talking to him and was very informative. My room was cozy and had all the necessities, plus some extras like slippers and toiletries. There were some hairs left on the bathroom floor, but everything else looked very clean. The room I was in required the use of stairs (4 or 5). One of my bags was heavy and would have preferred a ramp to easily move it up to the room.

vernight stay in Basel

We just stayed one night in Hotel Victoria on our way home from a rail trip. We had asked for a quiet room as we knew it was very close to the main station, and we were given a lovely quiet room at the back of the hotel. The hotel was was very clean and comfortable and the staff all spoke excelllent English and were very helpful. We would definitely stay at Hotel Victorias again if we return to Basel
