The staff is bilingual - English and Spanish, and very helpful, especially Eric and Kevin. Our room was small but comfortable and clean. The free coffee and tea was a great benefit. Great location close to the metro, restaurants and a supermarket. Also very safe neighborhood.

Bad business decision

I didn’t get to stay I thought I was booking a room in Panama City Florida. I had no idea it was in a different country.The address I was booking a room for is on 6th street in Panama City Florida.You would think that business could continue with a room for me in The United States and I could be a great customer.Instead I am staying at another nice hotel and they are receiving my money

OK Place to stay!

Have stayed at the Metro many times. This time there was no hot water, tepid, but not hot. When I checked in there were NO towels in the room and this happened 3 times during the week I stayed there, the maid service forgot to leave towels. One thing that I have mentioned before is that there is no light by the bed. The only light in the room is the ceiling light. That being said, I will stay at the Metro again because it is centrally located and has a reasonable price, plus parking in the back that is gated at night.

great staff. my only thing is the widows are not sound proof!! sat night partying until 437 am as i looked at the time. i should got my ear phones out! as i know pty pretty good. i was done partying and eating like at 12! so ask for a room in the back!

This is a great hotel for the price - much nicer and more comfortable than we were expecting. Staff were friendly and helpful. The area is not the best (area clearly a pickup location for escorts), but there are heaps of food options close by to choose from.

ok hotel in a touristy/bit rundown area

within blocks from main roads, in the shadow of the skyscrapers.lots of security, but also hookers. variety of shops, hotels and restaurants. lots of vehicles (not buses) and lots of construction. the taxi drivers earn their money here, driving is complicated. have never been hit on during vacation before, but did not feel any security issues.

The location from the airport is too far. Do not stay here if you are flying out of Panama. No towels in room. But room was clean and bedding was OK. It looks like improvements are being made to the hotel. Hotel Shuttle is not free it's about $30.00 each way. Suggest car rental or uber for less cost. Area of hotel is rundown.
Parking in hotel is very tight space but secure to keep theft down. I will not stay here again and I travel worldwide.

Nice hotel located in area easy to walk around. Charge to transport to airport and for breakfast. Breakfast nice and simple. Tours pick up at hotel. Safe area. Be prepared for basic room, I had to ask for towels twice. Staff super nice. Hallways loud due to ice machine and doors and flooring make it echo.

Good Price but expect to get what you pay for

This is a very basic hotel with tiny rooms. Basically a bed and a small desk, small TV. No frills at all. Housekeeping of any sort is only provided every few days. The staff at the front desk and in the breakfast room were all very nice. I think for a just a few dollars more you can find a huge improvement in quality. The included breakfast was more than ample.

as we had to get a different flight we didn't arrive at the hotel until 830am the morning of are stay so we were only there a few hours had a shower and stuff, but we we're still offers breakfast and the room was nice and hotel was tidy and staff were nice.

We liked the hotel. It was one of the only ones out of about 6 hotels that we used in our trip that didn't have a mold smell. Great!
Breakfast was ok, nothing special. They should give oatmeal and eggs daily. They should offer only white cheese, not yellow (yellow has artificial coloring). It's fine though considering the price we paid.
It was quick to check in and check out. Pretty comfortable place! We liked the modern bathroom and toiletries.
We took a room in the back as per some reviewers' advice and we still heard noise as the windows are very thin.

We canceled our reservation as soon as we arrived!

Unfortunately, we never got the opportunity to experience the stay at the hotel. Because, after hearing the bad reviews of the hotel and the area it was located in from our taxi driver, on the ride from the airport, we decided to cancel and look for another hotel. We were told that this area of the city is not a good area. And that this particular hotel was regularly frequented by local prostitutes. And while we were in the lobby, we over heard a couple complaining to the front desk, that they had personal items stolen from their room. NOT A GOOD SIGN! My advice: Stay away!!

You can get on the metro to get to different locations within the city for .35 cents each ride, save on Taxi fare.
Just buy the metro card at the station and load it with 5 dollars and you can move around the city.

Good location with budget price.

We stayed at the Metro Panama hotel for 2 nights and appreciated the hotel ' s hospitality very much. Located in a very good location , this hotel is closed to everything from subway, metro bus, shopping, to entertainment such as casino, restaurants .
We like the large bedroom with premium bedding of this hotel. Breakfast is basic but good enough to start the day with juice, coffee, fried eggs, cereals, and breads.
We will definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend it to our friends.

Nice location for what we wanted.

The hotel was near things I wanted to do and familar with. I just was dissappointed that one day room never got cleaned and the others it was not cleaned un 3-4pm. I am used to hotel cleaning rooms while I am out in the am so Ican come rest in afternoon a bit before going again. The location was good for me, but not what anyone with family would want.

Enjoyed walking to many interesting places around hotel. This is area for everyday life of the Panama people. Helps to know a few words in Spanish! Uber was best transportation option if you do not rent a car. Met many friendly people. Found that the city is just as expensive as the US. No big 'deals' on items even in the local grocery stores. Many many many US brands were in the stores. There are three (3) fantastic malls in the city, brand names you will recognize, but again no bargains. Booked several tours before we went, but found hotel could book same tours for less money after we got there. Pacific side beaches are not the best. Snorkeling should be on the Atlantic side. Rain was a happy rain in the afternoons and there were a few days without rain. Internet in lobby area was great. Google Maps helped us to find our way around town. That was GREAT! Overall a good trip.

Modest, clean hotel in the center of the city.

Every member of the staff was helpful and did what they could to make my stay enjoyable. When the safe in my room couldn't be made operable, I was upgraded to another, much larger room. Dining room staff also very helpful, asked me several times if I needed anything else. On my next trip to PC, I will book a room at the Metro.

Excellent - 2 weeks beyond expectations

My wife and I travel a lot, this time we were in Panama for the longest ever vacation, 2 weeks. The Metro Hotel surpassed our expectations, cold a/c and hot water all the time, comfortable and no noise from other rooms, no insects whatsoever, bathroom very modern, daily room cleanup, free limited breakfast coffee/tea, fruits, eggs or pancakes, cereal, juice. The wait staff were very friendly, Tata and Alvaro in the small restaurant that seats 24 were very friendly, proactive, and a few mornings when my wife wasn't well even prepared a breakfast tray that I could take up. We rented a car for a week and they have their own parking in back with a secure gate. The location is off the charts, convenient restaurants across the street and to the sides, buffets from US 3.95 - 4.95, and of course higher, stores are within 3 minute walking distance, bus route 3 minutes, Metro rail 4 minutes. For all the time we were there we found the front desk manned all the time, helpful in providing anything we needed, even tips on where to go and how. We'll be back next year.

Best área in panamá city

Well I will start with saying I was very tired when we arrived at the Hotel and I was told from one of the staff that the Hotel was booked full. The manager ask me to have a seat and would be with me shortly. He called me up to the front desk within 10 minutes and told me that he put me up in another Hotel which was in front of the Metro Hotel. I was a happy person and went to the other Hotel and everything was great. The staff was excellant and everyone was happy. Super Job by all the staff members of Hotel Metro of Panama

When I book this room i made it looking at the pictures posted in the web. When I arrived to my room it was old and uncomfortable, bathroom was very small, you can not seat properly in the toilet, my knees hit the wall, getting inside the shower was difficult because you had to give a step over the toilet. What I paid was little but not a good rate considering the confort. I will never stay again. The only good thing was the minibar with good prices an enough food and beer. No elevator, and my room was 4th floor. Pool was closed in the night. receptionist in the lobby was distracted, he didn`t pay attention when i was making check out, he preferred to take with employees and leave me waiting.

Could be more service and friendly oriented

Front desk people were not as friendly and service oriented as expected, were not clear in hotel rate rules, rooms were not ready in spite check in hours is 3 pm and I arrived near 4 pm. However, worker girls in the breakfast room and time were very nice and friendly. They made my stay more confortable.

My room was in the 2nd floor, and the hallway outside the elevator smelled smoking environment all the time. There were signals of non-smoking area, but I am not sure if some rooms are smoke allowed ones.

A cheap option for a night in Panama. Closer to places around downtown and easy access to freeway (to get the airport)
The hotel has a device that controls electricity at your room so if you leave, your room key is removed and electricity goes out. when you get back, the room temp is hot (hello this is the Caribbean), the small refrigerator did not hold temp.
I experienced a cool water only when I made a quick shower at 5 AM to get ready for the airport.
Internet connection is standard. Noise from the street lasted the whole night and my room did not have TV remote control.

Convenient location, but lots of traffic noise.

No laundry room, a little too much traffic noise, and the 7 AM breakfast was a bit too early and not very substantial. However, the bed was comfortable, the staff was helpful, and very easy to get a cab or rent a car. Lots of restaurants in the area.

The breakfast was the same every single day. After 3 days we opt to have breakfast outside so we have to spend more money which it did not make me happy at all. Also there was not microwave in the room..only in the cafeteria. ..so if you want to have a tea you have to go downstairs...Also outside the hotel was very noise at night...

The staff was absolutely amazing. I can not say enough about how awesome they are. The room was clean and the A/C worked very well which you will want. No warm water in the shower which wasn't fun when you first wake up with that amazing A/C running all night, but Panama is a very humid country and the cold shower felt amazing when you came back after a day out.

Comfort and convenience, plus great service

This small, family run hotel in the center of El Cangrejo in Panama City, Panama has become the place I stay when in town, primarily because of the service and warmth of its staff. Rates are very reasonable and the location is prime, convenient to all the attractions and rich history this rapidly developing financial center of the Americas has to offer.

Rooms are spacious and spotless, although years of routine wear-and-tear since its opening calls for attention to curtains and bedspreads that have seen better days and are coming due for replacement.

Breakfasts are hearty and the kitchen staff is more than willing to prepare eggs to order. The coffee is excellent and tropical fruits are delightful accompaniments to toast, cereal and other traditional breakfast fare.

But of best of all, returning to the Metro Hotel is like visiting old friends.

Well kept hotel in a good neighborhood. Furnishings all new in the Ikea type style, breakfast choices limited but good quality. Nice staff, efficent check in and out. Bear in mind neighborhood is safe and as good as it gets in Panama City, but some will find it rough around the edges.

Small, but centrally located

In general my stay at Metro Hotel was very nice. The date of arrival my checking was very smooth: my keycard was ready, and Luis at the front desk was very helpful. I was in my room in less than 5 minutes. My rate, which was very reasonable, included continental breaksfast, WI-FI. Room was clean and the A/C worked very well. Ana and all the employees working at the dining/breakfast area were very nice and helpful. Pedro at front desk helped a lot with information related to the area. I am really surprised with the overall service. I would consider staying again at Metro Hotel in future visits to Panama. Please take note that the hotel doesn't have a full service restaurant, only for breakfast, that is open if I am not mistaken from 7am to 10am. Overall very nice surprise!

Extremely Rude.

I hate to negatively express anything and in fact this is my first time ever doing so in a review or written form. There was supposed to be an airport shuttle. The morning ours was scheduled the man at the front desk said it would be there shortly. When it showed up it was a cab he called. We asked him if we had to pay the cab fare, he said no it was arranged with the driver already. The driver then proceeded to demand the fare at the airport. We protested saying it was between him and the hotel and he needed to call the hotel. He refused and waited for us to pay. He had a phone and we had the number. Our phone had no service since we were traveling from the states. He called a policeman over who then forced us to pay the extortion. SCAM! Don't stay here please. We spent two weeks in panama and loved it, sadly our last few hours there were the only time we had to deal with a shady situation and it was because of this hotel.

A friend and I resided at The Metro in Panama City for 26 days in October (10/8-11/3) of this year and were very pleased with the accommodations, location and service. Breakfast choice is a little limited for such a long period, but fine for the short term visitor and very ample. For the price, The Metro offers outstanding value.

Beautiful room located in the middle of the city

On arrival, the front desk person was very nice and hospitable. He was informative and spoke and understood english well which was relieving. The hotel has beautiful furniture and I really admired the decor. The lobby made a very good first impression, of which I was a concerned about with this having been my first real experience in the city. No one helped us with our bags but we were able to use the dolly and the front desk employee came to pick it up when we were done. The room was lovely! It had a somewhat nice view of some skyscrapers and also the parking lot. The beds were divine! A far cry from the hostel we stayed at prior to this. Overall it was a nice stay.

Convenient location

It was a little hard to find but surprisingly in a nice location.
Staff was nice but did not appreciate the way they questioned who was staying in the room (all they needed to know was adults ,kids) and made copies of my passport. No other hotel has ever done that.
Breakfast needs a lot of work -same choices, bland. Only had two towels in room & while I was there I heard two other guests request towels. Appreciated the free parking & wifi. If you are looking for a small,quaint hotel this my be an option. I felt it was small but did not feel warm, with the exception of the breakfast server (she was really sweet).

Ok for price

We have stayed at a number of hotels on same street and would only return to this one if cost was the only consideration. Bedroom we were in had no bedside tables or lights so had to use main light for reading etc, not ideal if one of the party of 2 wishes to sleep while the other one reads. very basic breakfast. Pleasant check in staff who spoke very good english.

The breakfast was excellent and the front desk staff spoke very good English. The hotel was clean and very quiet at night time. We would definitely recommend this hotel A+ Seeing the Panama Canal was a fantastic experience...

Excellent quality price

While not pretentious this hotel offers all the service of a good hotel. All was working well, reception was good, breakfast not bad at all and in a clear and modern little cafetariat area. The room was a bit smaller, with lower ceiling than what i had in other hotels of the city. Corridors were also a bit noisy at night - that's all i could reproach.

Good hotel close to downtown Casino

The hotel was very comfortable, close to downtown casino, very good restaurant on corner, staff very helpful. It was alot further from the airport then was advised in the details of the hotel amenities. It did cost $30 dollars per direction for a cab ride to and from the Toucmen airport.

a clean and very basic hotel

A good but very basic hotel… NO AIRPORT SHUTTLE (despite what is advertised) ($30 US each way in taxi) and no tea/coffee in rooms… Air Conditioning comes on when activated by room card so takes an hour or so to cool down the room… Internet good… Most Cable channels in Spanish… Breakfast was great (fresh fruit, cereal, toast, rolls, meats, rice and asian options)…

Overall a clean and very basic hotel without some of the basics you would expect but quite comfortable and friendly….
