The room was clean and well maintained. The staff were particularly welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay, which was greatly appreciated.

The carpet would benefit from being replaced, as it gives a slightly worn and dated impression.
In addition, water tends to stagnate in the bathroom after showering, creating a pool of cold water on the floor. This is neither comfortable nor practical.

Overall, my stay was pleasant, but a few technical improvements would significantly enhance the guest experience.

I had a great stay at Guangzhou International Hotel. Our room exceeded our expectations as I did not expect to get such a large suite which had 2 separate bedrooms, separate sitting area and 3 bathrooms. It was fantastic.
Our bartender Jason was very personable, friendly and accomodating. He took pride in his work.
If there were any complaints i would say that they don't provide you with a mini fridge in the suite and elevators could be slow at times. Highly recommend this hotel especially if you upgrade

Nice place to enjoy the colorful Guangzhou

I enjoyed my trip to Guangzhou, a beautiful and warm northern city in China. My accommodation at the Grand Int'l Hotel, which provides up to 4-star services, was a plus. The people who work there are super friendly, and they provide the best quality service! The room was clean inside, but the hallway carpet was stained with whatever it was. The room facilities and equipment were below expectations, i.e., overly dim lights, malfunctioning mini freezer, noisy A/C, and slow sewage. I recommend this place to all if they improve the infrastructure in the coming days.

Hotel has clearly seen its better days but it hasnt been upkept to its best. Carpet are a bit stained throughout but good quality and clean. I had a non-smoking business suite but previous visitors smoked inside the room and left it smelling like ashtrays. Staff gave a airfilter which helped but still smelly.
Unfortunately you can still smoke indoor public places in China, but the hotel should put some roles to separate them.

They have robots for room services which make things quite efficient, except if it's something you have to pay for straight away, then they send staff to persist.

All the lanes in the swimming pool was closed everyday between 10am-12noon for wxternal paid swimming lessons. So no hotel guests allowed. The reception lied saying the lifeguards had to take breaks during these hours.
The gym is there but no lighting.
The steamroom has turned into a cleaning storage room so not available either.

When I came back at the end of the day with child carrying bags of shopping, the two doormen stood there watched us and continued chatting with hands on their back. It would be nice for them to offer me a hand.

Staff was generally quite professional and facilitating. But lots of improvements are yet to be made.

This is my second visit to Guangzhou and preferred selecting that hital again.
Will be back there in my next visits.

Cross the street there is a small shopping mall with Chinees and Italian restaurunt, supermarket and .
Breakfast very good, staff is polite and professional.

Not very happy with the way the staff cleans the room though (was in the room a few times, and was really not impressed. Even had to call them back to change dirty cups I used for tea...)

Good hotel, with a good location, Team did wonders to provide a great service for a special day. That was awesome.
However, room cleaning could be better: done quickly, no cleaning of table that has some food on it, no vacuum cleaning of carpets.
However, good for a business stay.

OK hotel, but not my favourite in town

Hotel is OK, but looks a little like a past glory. Rooms are decent (got an upgrade though, so not sure about the average room. Hotel staff is not fluent in English, which was a bit of an issue for me, mainly when I asked the concierge for some directions to a venue I needed to visit.
I ordered room service on my arrival evening: a burger, which was not good and the fries were cold. The tea room has great teas, but at prohibitive prices. Breakfast is well stocked, but you need to go for Chinese food to enjoy it: tried bread, butter and jam. Butter had been melted and cooled down quite a few times... jam was average at best.
All in all, a good business place, but not a hotel to enjoy.

No one understands English

If you are from China origin, then it is a very good place to stay otherwise spend some extra money and choose a five star hotel because except few hotel staff no one under stand English. Not even house keeping, rooms service, concerige. It is a difficult task to communicate with them for small things also. I will not recommend for people from outside China. But for Chinese it's a good property to stay

The hotel is not that bad, especially for one in China, but the location is what knocks it down on my list. I won't stay here again because it's too far from the metro. When I booked it online, I looked at the map and thought it was closer to Guangzhou East Railway Station, IKEA, and the metro...but it was not. The concierge was very helpful with maps, calling taxis, etc. The housekeeping staff brought more towels, etc., with no issues. Some linens and furniture and structures were worn and old, but that is to be expected in a Chinese hotel. I would stay again IF it was closer to the metro.

Disappointing hotel

The quality of the service and condition do not meet the standard of this hotel. The management level is rather unprofessional, inefficient and impolite. I am particularly annoyed the fact that they were impolite to my parents who were elderly people. One staff, a cleaning lady, seems nice to them. But this is not enough for a hotel claimed to be a five-star one. There are so many hotels in the city, I definitely do not recommend this hotel.

The lobby is really nice but inside the room the carpet had stains, the ceiling had stains and you can see the age of the building in the room. I liked how big the room was. Had sn issue with the concierge changing our taxi reservation and when asked why he said, \"I thought you had changed your mind.\" Without consulting is mind you. Would I stay here again? No. Would I recommend? No.

Awesome hotel and GREAT value for money! The staff goes out of their way to help you. Front desk and concierge speak English well. Very impressed with the service at the hotel. Convenient location and free shuttle for the Canton fair several times in the morning and evening. Will definitely stay at this hotel next fair.

There are some hotel staff that can speak English. There are restaurants and cafes nearby and also a supermarket directly opposite the hotel. I had problems with my key card and they did deal with it but slowly-it is China after all. My only gripe was the cleanliness of the room. I stayed in the same hotel last year and that was an incredible experience. This time the carpet had not been vacuumed, there were a few black hairs in the bath tub. overall it was an OK experience.

Staff spoke English and were very helpful. Upon seeing we were 4 adults in two rooms they immediately upgraded us to larger beds without us asking. We returned to our room later to find a birthday basket since one of us had a birthday during the week of our stay. Not even during our stay! The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Great breakfast included.

We booked two rooms for a long weekend. The rooms were comfortable and room service was quick the evening we used it. The internet, which both my husband and I needed for work, was intermittent and dropped in and out quite often. Since we live in China we are accustomed to the internet in China, but this was far worse. Check-in was fairly easy but took a bit of time and check-out was a disaster. If you got the hotel at a discount rate, it's an okay stay. Location is very good. But to pay the full rate, you would be disappointed.

the hotel and staff were very good . I was here for Canton , so it was busy everywhere . The room came with a free breakfast buffet and maybe it wasn't for me , but it work for not having to go anywhere . The size of the hotel room was good for myself and if my wife would came with me . The bathroom was clean and roomy . The pool was closed for repair at my time , but it looked nice . The gym area was fine , they had a couple of each machines .

The room we stayed was spacious with lots of amenities. The nice touch was complimentary fruit and water in the room after a long flight into China. The hotel's chinese restaurant is very good and the breakfast buffet serves a very good variety of western and asian food mix. The only problem we had was a broken sink that leaked water and the smell the came from the drains and we believe it was because we stayed on the last floor…this problem was solved when we asked to be moved to a another room at a lower floor. We stayed at this hotel mainly because it is one of the official hotel for the Guangzhou Fairs and they run shuttle buses to and from the Fair. I am just not sure if the rates are lower when the Guangzhou Fairs is not on.

Best Canton Fair hotel in 25 years

I have stayed in many 3 and 4 star hotels in Guangzhou over the last 25 years attending
the bi-annual Canton fair. Grand Int'l is the nicest I have experienced and one of very few 4 star
Guangzhou hotels that really are 4 star.

Issue with the electronic key

1. The card could not open my room. The one of the hotel staff took my card, ran downstairs but she had never returned. I had to go back to the front desk and explained the sistuation. They checked my passport again and gave me another room. Overall, it takes more then half an hour for me to have a room.

2. On the second day I came back late at night. I could not open the door. The hotel staff asked me to show him my passport which I did not carry with me. I told him I left my passport in my room if they open the door, I can get my passport. It's simple but taken 15 minutes.

Overall, the hotel is good value for money

Good Hotel in GZ

I booked the business room for 5 days. The hotel is excellent but the location is a little bit far from the subway. It takes approximately 20 minutes walk but only 2 minutes by taxi. The bus stop is in front of the hotel but most of the time I have to wait for 15-20 minutes. If you cannot speak Chinese, you are better walk or take the taxi. No bus driver can speak English. Only front desk staffs can speak English. The restaurant is great but too expensive. A dinner for two costs more then 1000 RMB with a couple of glasses of wine. Breakfast and lunch are great. Breakfast is reasonable price but lunch is also expensive. I don't expect the upper class Chinese hotels charge similar as well known 5 stars hotels. The business room is clean and comfortable.

Quite, Clean but Distant.

Clean, professional staff and breakfast food is quite good.

On the quiet side of the city, not many restaurants in the surrounding but Starbucks and other coffee shops are next doors.

It's quite distant from metro subway station, not quite convenient unless you take taxi but traffic can be heavy.

TIPS: From airport, take A3 exit and find bus stop no. 6, cost RMB 21 Take first stop (about 40-50 minutes depending on traffic) then take taxi to the hotel. This will save you money.

Also, hotel not quite well known by people so I suggest you have a printout of hotel information and address in CHINESE (google the hotel name, you'll find the hotel website in chinese). Even taxi drivers have tough time figuring out hotel and address in English.

Convienent to fair grounds & train

Staff is friendly and goes out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was OK but hot things could have been at least warmer. Only negative is the room needed upgrading. Carpet needs to be cleaned not just vacuumed. Wallpaper is starting to peel off the wall at the paper seams.
