It is a very central location, fast food restaurants and shopping malls were in near proximity. The property was clean and had a variety of food to choose from for breakfast. Very helpful staff. I’d recommend it to others.

The stay at Riu was fantastic. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Our family suite was so spacious and offered many amenities. Located on the 32nd floor, the views of the city were astounding. The breakfast was the best part of the stay. There were plenty of offerings and everything tasted so delicious. The hotel lobby smelled amazing but whatever products they use to clean the rooms did not smell as great and the ladies bathroom in the lobby had a very strong and unpleasant odor. It smelled musty and as if the whole bathroom needed to be aired out. The two times I tried to use the bathroom, I could barely stay in there.

My wife and ai stayed 7 nights and we enjoyed every bit of it.
The breakfast was the best, very delicious with lots of variety and healthy. That's important to me as I love good food.
Our room was great we got the exact room we paid for the city view was amazing.
Getting to and about from the hotel was also great with the taxi service personnel looking after our every need.
All is all a great stay for my 50th birthday, lovely friendly ple with a heart to customer service. We will be back in December for sure to celebrate our anniversary LovePanama@RiuhotelPlaza.

El hotel está muy bueno, sólo pequeños detalles, cómo los asientos del lobby, que se notaba tenían mucho tiempo con los forros en mal estado. Son pequeñas cosas que no es posible que pasen, más cuando hay tantas personas qué trabajan en ese hotel, mirando esos detalles. Lamentablemente, hay falta de supervisión...Deben mejorar esa parte, aunque debo reconocer, que luego observé que cambiaron los forros..

The room was very spacious, neat and clean, linens and towels were changed on request. Every attendant asked to make sure we were ok and we're very helpful. Courtney calls were made to our room to ensure all was well and to find out if we needed anything. The front desk staff all spoke English and we're very warm and welcoming.the pool settings was nice with the greenry surrounding adding a nature touch. The breakfast was the highlight for use with a wide variety to choose from. Although we tried to sample everything we just couldn't, most of what we had tasted great, I really enjoyed their hot chocolate and yoghurt while my husband enjoyed their soup, seasoned cheese and natural orange juice. Overall our stay was enjoyable and comfortable, whenever we are visiting Panama again we will definitely stay at Riu Plaza again and we encourage you to do too.

This hotel was the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in as soon as you arrive, even though I arrived at night, they were still alert and very welcoming and that means a lot to me as a solo traveler when I checkedin. All of the amenities from the pool, the breakfast everything was very fresh and very accommodating. They had great security at all times of the night the 24 hour café was also a bonus as well and if you’re coming to Panama City, you must stay here!

The guest policy is not clear. If you have a room booked for 2 guests then anymore people is the only way you should get charged for an extra guest. You can have a different guest everyday as long as it is 1 per room. Charging an $80 fee is simply outrageous.

Second time staying here as I had great time before. Only thing that wasn't to my liking is that the glass on my room to give the view was horribly stained we could not see anything and had to keep the blinds closed as it looked horrible.

Bad water in the hotel

Arrived Sunday 6/7/2026 for one night with my wife. After checking in went to pool area (only restaurant open there on Sunday). Wife asked for some glasses of water, server redirected her to glass bottle of water on dining table - server said the hotel's water was making people sick. So we ended up purchasing a bottle of water for like $14 from the hotel. Seems pretty stupid, if the hotel's water is making people sick why am I paying for water?

Nonetheless, my two mixed drinks arrived with ice. Server assured us the ice would be okay, as it \"comes from the ice machine.\" (Geez I wonder where the ice machine gets its water).

I am headed now into an Urgent Care as I have had EXTREME gastrointestinal distress since yesterday (day following the water episode. Was lucky to get all the way back home intact through 11 hours of travel.

Inexcusable. Joined RIU on Saturday looking forward to the experience and hoping for more in the future, now will probably never stay at a RUI again. Somebody in hotel management needs to do their job, or additional others will be made sick as well.

Too many other high class options in Panama City - my advice is to use another.

Upon arriving at the property it appeared to be clean but once we left the lobby and first floor the smell of mildew was stifflling and I literally began to get sick from the strong odor. I couldn't believe so many people stayed here. I tried to leave after the first few hours there and unfortunately I couldn't get a refund for my remaining days. This was my first trip with my entire family and I felt like I let them down as their room was overwheled with the odor of mold and mildew. I stay in a different hotel I before and enjoyed it so much better. I realized the longer you stay the more accustom you become to the strong odor

My stay at the Riu Plaza was wonderful! The hotel staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean with nice amenities. The only thing I missed was having a microwave in the room. But honestly who comes to Panama to microwave leftovers. Lol. The location is close to Starbucks, pharmacies and great Peruvian Chicken restaurant directly across the street. The pool area is clean with great bar service and nice music. Also, there is an bar inside the property and 24 hr room service. Moreover, your a $4 Uber ride to the more tourist restaurants area like El Caribe which is a must if you in Panama City. I am looking forward to my next stay at the Riu Plaza!

The breakfast buffet was a delight with different offerings every day. The location was great and every driver knew where to pick us up when we said that we were staying at the Riu Plaza.

We got a room in the 32nd floor with city view. It was amazing. Cleeeeeean and fresh. Bathroom was stocked with body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and lotion. Fridge stocked daily with 2 bottles of water. Room was also cleaned daily with fresh towels and rags. You could also request your sheets to be changed. Hotel was super clean. A solid 10/10. However breakfast do nit start at 6. More like 6:30-7:00. So if you have an early flight or excursion forget about trying to grab breakfast. A variety of food options were available too. We paid $160 cash for deposit and hit it back upon check out. Location is central and a lot of things were walking distance or close by uber. We spent 7 days and I’d go right back.

We stayed at Riu Plaza Panamá for 3 days and honestly could have stayed longer. The location was perfect for us, very central to everything, and we even walked to the Cinta Costera in about 20 minutes to enjoy the views and get our steps in after eating entirely too much at breakfast every morning. 😂

Speaking of breakfast, the buffet alone deserves its own review. The room rate included an expansive breakfast buffet with so many options that I started thinking about breakfast before going to bed each night. Fresh fruit, pastries, hot food, coffee, juices, you name it. For lunch or dinner, we also enjoyed the outdoor restaurant near the pool.

The pool area had a really nice atmosphere, relaxing but still lively enough to feel like a vacation. We also appreciated having different dining options, including a more upscale restaurant and a 24 hour café that was very convenient for coffee, snacks, or a late night bite.

The staff was pleasant, the hotel was clean, and the overall experience was easy and enjoyable. We would absolutely stay here again and definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Panama City.

RIU is well run and in the perfect location only 20 minutes from the airport. The rooms are clean and the hot water never fails. A buffet breakfast came with our room and it features just about everything you could think of eating for breakfast including made to order omelettes, fresh breads and a variety of in house made jams. Nice pool with a bar that makes stiff drinks. 👍

I heard a lot of great reviews buts This hotel was okay. We were in the executive suite on the 27 floor. The floor and the room had a bad smell . Complain but it seem this was the normal . It was struggle to get wash clothes they would only give one for two people. One night I did not get towels at all. Customer service reps were not really helpful. Let’s not forget book water excursion with hotel . It was a hassle getting beaches towels. They did not want us to leave the hotel with the towels . Would I stay here again NO !!

When entered we only had one pillow for 2 adults, the bed was very hard and uncomfortable, iron with no iron board waited 2 days to get one, the water in the sinks filled up fast and didn’t drain, the phone stop working after 3 days and no bath rags place in bathrooms. Everyday for the 6 days we had to call down and beg for bath rags and was told it’s only for the suites!! I expected better.
