The property was comfortable with great staff, proximity to the beach was also a plus. While we enjoyed the home-like feel of the villas it seems that general maintenence of the property has been lacking. The AC was leaking and looked as though it had been for some time as the paint was bubbling and discoloured. Bathroom tiles were damaged and faucets were leaking.

Great place for that authentic island vibe! The people are extremely friendly and accommodating. Their recommendations were spot on. The location was within walking distance to shops, the bank, the grocery store and local fresh food. While the food at the resort was yummy, you should also try the places across the street! Would definitely recommend Idle Awhile!

The villa was very nice and we enjoyed our stay. The staff were extremely nice and very helpful. However, one thing we noticed was the villa was very dark inside. There was no natural light coming through. There was just the kitchen light and a couple of lamps. Going up to the top bunk was ok but coming down was a little scary because of the darkness in the villa. A lamp or light to access would make it easier to come down. I think the lighting needs to be updated. It needs more of the natural light if possible. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This boutique hotel on the calmer part of 7 mile beach is A TREASURE! Our one bedroom suite included a large screened in porch with a dining table and hammock, delightful. Our room was spacious and high end from the designer floor tiles to the custom wood shutters. Loved it! The staff was attentive, morning coffee and toast delicious and we really enjoyed the SUPs, floatation cushions and the use of the hobbie cat. We will definitely be back!

-They provide access to sister property on the cliffs which was fun to explore

CONS:
-Allow smoking of cigarettes on the beach chairs for guest which made it very unpleasant for other guests :(

RECOMMENDATIONS:
-It would help a lot if there was a list of internal hotel phone numbers and food menus in the room
-House slippers for the room.

A charming place. Colleen at reception is wonderful. The regular rooms are nice and stylish with great terraces (if you're not staying in the 01's where you hear the street noise). The larger rooms are much nicer. The food was very good. It is small...so more chill than lively. The only slight disappointment is no amenities except for 2 paddleboards and one kayak. There's a long empty are next to the walkway ...seems a hot tub, dipping pool...or even a game court would be great.

This is my new favourite spot in Negril. It is right on the beach but on the quieter end of the strip so it is perfect for sunbathing and napping by the ocean. The rooms are some of the most comfortable and well-appointed that I’ve seen in Negril and the service was excellent in every way.

Idle Awhile was amazing from start to finish! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles from all around. Reception informed us of the covid test options. They have a traveling nurse that can be scheduled to come to your room. Nice and easy.

Security was top notch for those that are concerned about that stuff. We had not worries about going for swims, walks or back to the room for all the things that you inevitably forget everyday :)

Lifeguards were always on hand and available to help with anything you needed, setting up and moving chairs, helping with fresh towels, etc.

The restaurant and bar was staffed by an extremely personable and funny crew.

Anything we needed was provided. Bucket of ice, pot of coffee brought to the room, extra towels, etc.

Cannot wait to go back!

Great staff, expecially at the restaurant. The hotel room was dark and could be modernised, but it had a vintage charm, ample space (the meshed patio off the room was a bonus). The room was cleaned well and the property had a canopy of trees that was pleasant to experienced while it rained. The beach was amazing and beach chair pads double as floating devices, which was perfect for relaxing. Overall, it was a great stay.

I loved this hotel! We stayed in one of the ocean view rooms and it was so nice being able to wake up and see the ocean and then walk straight to it on the path from the room. The food and drinks were all really good. The room itself was nice and there were even three friendly kitties who visited us on our patio every day. The only downside is that you can hear every little noise outside because there aren’t glass windows, just wooden shutters. I would still stay at the hotel again but I would definitely bring earplugs the next time because it made for several sleepless nights due to noise.

Idle awhile is a beautiful property located right on the beach. It couldn’t be more conveniently located. Mini mart across the street and chicken spot. The food at the bar is just ok for the price … I’d recommend venturing out for food. More bang for your buck and better food ! Tge fan didn’t work on our balcony which was a bummer but The rooms are beautiful and the staff is lovely. Would definitely return .

I was very disappointed.Not my first trip there.I booked 2 beachfront and took family. Dinner was horrible. Shrimp and rice cold and shrimp cooked. Quesadilla greasy and dripping sauce.I did not finish my meal either nights. Both nights I was disappointed at dinner. AC unit leaking in room 103 upon arriving.Towel on the floor behind refrigerator for the entire stay. I was asked the day before departure if I needed it fixed. That should have not been a question.It’s obvious that the rooms are not been checked prior to guest arriving.It had always been the place I like to stay when visiting negril and I hope I can get pass this last visit

I was very disappointed that after arriving and checking in, i was notified that i had no access to the fitness center. The managmemt did not work anything out with me. I requested a refund because i checked out a day earlier and yet they refused my refund. I had to pay for a taxi to drive me 20 minutes away for a work out everyday. Very disappointing.

If this did not happen, this location would get a 5 star rating. The bar o. The beach, the staff, the security team were all great. I enjoyed them all. But for them not to refund me for the 1 day was terrible. Hopefully the people in higher places see this and make changes. I plan to be back in Negril soon.

Amazing boutique hotel with direct access to beach. Very relaxed atmosphere, the staff is very welcoming and great wifi.

Location is great to the point you can walk along the beach (or road) to other restaurants.

If theres one negative, it's that the entrance is close to the road. So at times if you were in your room and a car or motorcycle with a loud muffler passed by, you would hear it. Aside from that, its peaceful and quiet.

Would definitely stay here again.

This is my second time staying here and I absolutely love it. It is small and quaint, well maintained, with excellent staff and it is located RIGHT on the beach. Absolutely convenient. It's great for families if that is your sort of thing. I went with my parents and friend and had a great time. You feel like you're staying at local apartments versus some large touristy resort. My family is from Jamaica so I personally prefer this more authentic-feeling kind of hotel. Security is there 24/7 so you'll always feel safe and the bar staff are so nice. I'll be back again next year!

Our vacation at Idle Awhile was amazing. We have already rebooked for next year!

The rooms were clean, incredibly comfortable and well stocked. The staff were wonderful to say the least. Jenorah, Claudia and Kim at the bar, Cavin and Aaron on guest services and Marsha always willing to help with those extra questions made our vacation feel like we were staying with family.

The surroundings were beautiful and it is very easy to make your day as quiet or as full as desired with all the activity on the beach! Thank you to everyone at Idle Awhile.

Second time at this property. First time was excellent, with the most warm, caring, attentive staff. This time some (certainly not all) of the staff seemed a little less friendly and helpful. Not rude, just indifferent. Property is located in a wonderful spot, is nicely cared for but not perfect. Room was clean and well cared for. Wifi and phone systems were wiped out by a lightning strike while we were there (obviously not their fault) which made flight confirmation difficult. Based on previous stay we had high expectations that just weren't quite met. Its still a wonderful property that could use a bit of attention to the small details that really get noticed.

an all inclusive. Idle Awhile looked interesting on paper but the reviews were mixed. I want to thank the reviewer who gave it 5 stars, who wrote that he has been a frequent guest over the years. His review seemed genuine. The reviewer who wrote that her room was mosquito infested must have mistaken this Idle Awhile Beach hotel for a different one. I did not see one mosquito my entire trip! Of course, everyone should bring insect repellant regardless of their destination.
Ok, now to specifics:
The check in was seamless, thanks to
Carleton!
The room was airy and spotless, and the beds soft and neatly made.
Our bathroom had every toiletry imagine able!
The free welcome rum punch was well made and not weak at all!
The bartender, the older Carleton ( or the \"real Carleton,\" as he called himself), was friendly and attentive.
Above all was Marcia- she literally served as an EveryWoman! She waited always at the front of the property to walk us across the street, like a crossing gaurd!
Why did we cross the street? To get to the other side of course, where the best roadside restaurant was located, called
\"Best in the West.\" They served a wonderful conch soup, jerk chicken, and made the smoothest Pina colada ( both virgin and alcoholic).

No reason to ever stay at an all inclusive

Hotel is simple, but beautiful. Close to great dining served up local style by the folks that live in the area. A+

Note that you will be approached by beach vendors, but that's just Negril. If you don't want that, an all inclusive in Mo Bay would be a better choice for you.

One of the best on the beach.

Cool boutique hotel on the beach with sister property on the west end/cliffs. Very nice and quaint with good decor. Food is average at best, but more expensive than major cities in U.S.. 22+ day cancellation policy is strict...so don't book without insurance. We booked and stayed first 3 nights during a monsoon flood and tried to cancel last few nights with 50+ hrs notice and they said no.

Pros- Beach staff. Cool Vibe. Great beach. Location

Cons - So many mosquitoes in room we could not sleep or even hang out in room at all. Front desk not accommodating or friendly. Food and Bar quality just O.K. at best and very expensive. Lots of smokers on beach.
