Staff is courteous and professional. The room was unexpectedly spacious. Bed was comfortable and there were extra pillows and blanket (both needed). I like the location. Breakfast was passable. (Note to orange juice fans: don’t.) Nothing warm. No sugar for coffee. Lots of cereal but no milk, perhaps that is provided by a server. But the reason I won’t be back is no hot water. This is one of those places with ‘hot’ water just warm enough to differentiate it from cold. So, miserable showers, inefficient hand washing and no faith whatsoever in the cleanliness of the kitchenware provided. If you’re ok with lukewarm water, and no OJ, this place is fine. I got a great deal, so look for one. Otherwise, like me, keep looking.

There’s a musty smell in the rooms. In disrepair but they are slowly renovating. I didn’t know you couldn’t drive to the hotel and must call hotel and wait for them to let you into the no car area. Staff were very helpful and kind.

Enjoyed my stay at Antiq Palace Hotel. Welcoming staff and comfortable accommodations. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate to enjoy coffee in the courtyard, but an overall pleasant stay and easily walkable to restaurants and cafes.

If you have a car , you can't park close. They will have to let you close enough to unload your luggage. Then you have to go to the parking garage , which costs easily and extra thirty euro. Our room did not have air conditioning and was a little bit confusing. We would not stay here again.

Worst customer experience of my life. Our room which was advertised as having a working air conditioner was over 89 degrees in the morning after cooling off from an open window, during the night it was closer to 94 degrees. We alerted the staff to this issue at 10:00 pm at night as it was too hot to sleep in our room and the two young ladies on duty were super helpful trying to solve the problem and looking for a fan for us while the manger basically told them,well it’s hot deal with it. Again these girls apologized and told us they understood if we were to request a refund in the morning. In the morning another employee came to our room still around 89 degrees and said i don’t see what the problem is the air conditioning is on, (however literally pumping out warm air not cool what so ever) finally after accusing us of lying she says fine we will do a refund. We go downstairs and she proceeds to be extremely rude and tells us we have to call our credit card company for a specific code for the refund, our credit card company says no they just need to refund the charge. We have her sign a document stating her manager will refund the credit charge and she said wage sent a confirmation email. Two weeks later still no refund and no confirmation emails. My mother in law also had the same issue with her room but the lady flat out told her “you are fine, you didn’t use the air conditioner properly, again it was NOT working! Then she said , you’d paid now you leave” worst experience!!

No air conditioning in the room, despite being led to believe there was. This made the warm very warm and stuffy given the 32 degree heat. Mattress sloped away on one side. Fridge was no cooler than room temperature. Shower temperature couldn't be made cooler once it was warm. Bathroom door handles were sticky and mouldy. Nice big room was a positive. Definitely didn't meet my expectations of a 4 star hotel. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful

Stunning palace hotel with great service

Stunning building and decor, a real gem in the city centre. Unique and full of character, the building is decorated to the highest standards with a green patio to enjoy a drink. Located in a quiet street in the very centre, steps away from the riverside, it has a perfect location to explore the town. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Our room was enormous and bright with AC. Stylish furniture in the room and a real comfortable stay.

Super experience and I wish there were more hotels like this.

Huge room, helpful staff, great location!

Fantastic stay. The front desk was incredibly helpful. They were able to help us with airport transfers and at a price that was far less expensive than the normal taxis. We also had a beautiful room, which was huge! Location was great, just a block from the canal and walking distance to everything. Would absolutely stay again.

Disappointed with mouldy bathroom and servicing.

This hotel was disappointing. We selected it on a Lonely Planet recommendation, its location & awards for design. Unfortunately fell below expectation. Much effort & money had gone into the interior design & reception areas were lovely. We had a suite & the bedroom was comfortable, lovely light fitting. There was an attached sitting room which felt austere, although the ceiling was beautiful. The bathroom fell well short of acceptable standards. Although money had been spent on fancy corner bath and brass fittings the heavy presence of mould in the shower and dirty toilet bowl rim made this room unpleasant to use. The sink taps dripped constantly. The shower door did not meet the shower panel and so the shower leaked onto the floor. In this 4* hotel there was no hand soap or even tea bags. We asked for some to be provided the next morning. We were surprised to return to our room later in the day to find that hand soap had been provided & was placed directly adjacent to a pile of soaking wet towels & a bathmat we had used to mop the flooded floor with. Our room was not serviced at all. We queried at reception & was advised that due to Covid restrictions no room servicing was occurring unless by special request. Very strange to reduce hygiene for Covid! We did not experience poor hygiene elsewhere in Slovenia in lower * cheaper hotels. I think the hotel owners have prioritised fancy frills over basic cleanliness & comfort. Positives - location & lovely reception staff.

Great stay in an enormous suite, with great staff. Room is dated and need modernisation but otherwise comfortable and clean. Better than staying in a business hotel. Quiet at night though there was a huge noisy event by the bridge which was done by 11pm

The hotel building is a lovely old place with a beautiful courtyard but that's where the positive stuff ends. As a hotel it's simply not up to scratch. From the moment we arrived to no reception staff to the hot stuffy room with no air conditioning (despite what it says on the hotel's website) and windows screwed shut, no shower - just a hand held attachment to the bath tap it is just not good. Whereas most hotels have responded to Covid by enhancing cleaning this one has responded by stopping it, we ran out of coffee for the room and a request for more was initially ignored but then it transpired they had run out. In the three days we were there we never saw anyone who looked vaguely like management, it seems like the place is being run by kids and ut shows. Overall a very disappointing experience for a hotel charging these rates, I've stayed in better hostels for a fraction of the price. It's impossible to recommend this hotel, there are far better options available.

The hotel is in need of some repairs. It is an old building with minor annoyances such as toilet that runs and defective bathroom fan. The staff did there best to accommodate however.

Room 16 is in the attic and one cannot get into bed without leaning over.

kaviar at breakfast
some free slovenian alcoholic drinks

but it was not quite perfect:
some large tears in the duvet cover
no hairdryer (ended up borrowing one from another guest)

Antiq was in a lovely old villa and our two story suite was amazing. We received a nice upgrade. It did have some worn furnishings and no bar or restaurant was open in the evening, but they did have a nice little cart of a couple of liqueurs for guests to try.

Beautiful spacious rooms but no elevator for some rooms. level change between rooms create a lot of potential for stubbed toes. Nice breakfast. Good central location but pedestrian only area prevents cars from reaching front door to drop off suitcases without a complicated procedure.

I loved the historical aspect of the building and furnishings and the personal touches at reception, fruit and cookies etc. Housekeeping kept taking our soap in the bathroom which was a waste as we were there for 3 nights and needed to keep asking for more - we had an ant issue at the door and kitchen area - the shower door needs attention as it leaks all over the floor which will damage the flooring - loved the hotel though.

This hotel is not a spa first of all. This hotel is very run down and not taking care of at all. The bed sheet are torn and have holes. The carpets are gross and stained. Tiles are coming up off the floors. Busted light fixtures in the rooms. Not clean coffee and tea station in the room or in the lobby. Please do your self a favor and not get a coffee in the lobby unless you want to be sick just go look at the milk container that sits out 24/7. We switched rooms several times because of issues in every room. Just do not stay at this place unless you like dirty, broken, NO A/C hotels at a costly rate

The hotel was unique and did have character, which was one of the reasons we chose to stay here. It was in a perfect location and staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was not available during our stay, and we did not have any information about this prior to booking, although there was the opportunity to book a massage in our room, if requested. Breakfast did finish at different times, so we did miss it on one occasion that we did go down, but staff were accommodating when we did ask for hot drinks.

Girls weekend away

We were put in a ground floor room so was very noisy and we had to go outside to get to our room via a courtyard with lots of rubbish laying about and there was no external light until we had practically got to our room. Some of the furniture was a bit tired and worn. This being said the hotel is in a fantastic location and the rooms are large with good heating. Bit perplexed to find it in the small luxury hotels of the world....maybe we just got the crappy room. Did not eat in the hotel but when looking for the toilet came across a small kitchen area behind the bar which was frankly a health hazard with a grubby old dish cloth in a filthy sink, so was thankful that we decided to make the most of the wonderful cafes and restaurants locally. Very impressive entrance but the hotel sign was very small and not lit so we had difficulty finding it on our arrival as we did not arrive until late. Female receptionist had a could not be bothered attitude, however the male receptionist seemed to enjoy his job more. I could not tell you there names as they were not wearing a uniform or name badge. The accommodation was convenient and served it’s purpose just not luxury standard. The city is great and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Room was quirky but comfortable. Had everything you need - enought sockets, place to work etc. Some nice touches like fresh orchids. The hotel itself has plenty of character and the pedestrianised streets mean little traffic noise. Had little time to sample the hotel facilities - I didn't eat breakfast there, use the spa or sit in the lovely inner courtyard.

Nice location on the pedestrian area. Wonderful staff, so helpful! HUGE room, but an absolute maze to get to it. I guess we got the cheap room that they couldn't sell to anyone else. NOISY every morning as workers were doing work right outside our window before 8 am. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Bathroom very inconvenient! No place to set our toiletries. Hubby used the sink in the entrance. The toilet was right in view of the entrance door. I got up one night at 2 am to use the toilet, and someone walked right in the door. How embarrassing! Assume it was staff, and not sure why they would need to come in at that hour. Not enough hot water for two people to shower. Was annoyed that one of us always got a cold shower. We did not try the breakfast as it was quite expensive. We got coffee and croissant at the cafe a couple blocks away.

Quirky hotel in an old palace

Antiq Palace is very near the centre of Ljubljana so a great base for this compact city.
Our room was nice but seasoned travellers might expect more of 4* than the high ceilings, chandelier, and exposed stone details.

The Ground Floor reception rooms are impressive and the courtyard would be a lovely space in the summer.

A good range of non-cooked breakfast items but quite expensive compared with the nearby cafes.

Very attentive and knowledgeable reception staff.

Overpriced hotel with unused potential

Seems that owner does not want to invest a lot and hope that because of the history of the building and its location people will stay there no matter what. Spa is just a nice name, steam sauna was not functioning, Jacuzzi was too hot to step inside but suitable for boiling eggs. Gym also was not there and they think to get rid of spa as well in possible future. As for me if there will be no improvement I won´t come back. If not hotel´s staff professional behavior and kindness I would leave that hotel in bad mood and totally disappointed. It is the case when people can save reputation of the place but they cannot do it forever if nothing changes from above. I bet in summer it is more attractive to be there as they have charming garden where you can enjoy breakfast, which is very good by the way and they have one of the best coffees I have ever tried. But that is all what is good about this hotel, unfortunately in additional to amazing people working there.

My only negative would be that the shower/bathroom in our room needed ver much to be upgraded, the room was very grand and beautiful and then the shower room was like a portable shower box which let down the room! Asides from this we had a wonderful stay. Many thanks

Hotel is very cute and lots of character. Rooms are very nice as well. Only element that could use a bit of improvement was the shower - single enclosed stall with a bit of a sketchy shower head. Was a hand-held shower head, as well as a overtop one however we avoided the overtop one as it had mould growing on the spray nozzle. But overall a very nice stay.

Not a luxury hotel

The location is great, and the beds were comfortable. The public areas are beautiful, but the condition of the rooms was appalling. The first room we were in was incredibly large, but insufficiently furnished. It was called a \"suite,\" but there was no couch or place to lounge. The credenza was in terrible condition. The safe did not work. Our main objection to the room was that the shower floor was cracked, which resulted in water pouring onto the floor, not only in the bathroom but also into the room itself. This was not recent damage, as the parquet floor was soaked, black, and rotting. (Pictures attached) It even smelled of rot! We decided that we had to forego showering due to the water all over the floor, so we complained about the room. The staff responded by moving us to a better room. However, the areas around the sink and tub had black mold! The furniture in the new room was cheap and poorly made. We woke up very cold and found there was no heat. We called the desk, and the person who responded found that the heat was not even turned on for our room. He said that the room probably had not been used recently. We also saw later (from lights in the windows) that our original room with moldy floors was immediately occupied again. Both rooms had lightbulbs out and dusty, dirty light fixtures. The staff members were very nice and responsive, but the housekeepers did a terrible job of keeping cups and tea, etc. supplied. The hotel shows terrible neglect by the manager.

Great hotel in old town but near to many bars etc.

Booked Business class room for my Partner's birthday present - got a great deal with flight and transfer to and from airport. Beautiful old style hotel with very friendly staff. Was overhwhelemd on entering ur room which turned out to be a suite - hallway, separate w.c., kitchen, huge living room and huge bedroom (with chandelier) amazing. Became very friendly with Milos (who we believe maybe one of the Manager's but also does reception cover). Absolutely love and adore Ljubljana and will definitely be visiting again and again. Thanks to Milos, the local bar people etc and the local Tourist office (and guide Alan who was like an encyclopaedia of knowledge on our tour) we had a wonderful time.

Lovely hotel but the street facing rooms are a little noisy as you can hear anybody that walks past hence the lower overall score (didnt sleep much). Theres also some jund if venting/in built air con that hums away all night as well. Other than that cant fault it.

We had room 14 which is a family suite, comprising 2 bedrooms, bathroom, lounge and kitchen. Perfect place to stay with two young children.
It was on the third floor and the lift only went to the second, but that wasn't a problem for us.
Perfect location close to restaurants and sights. Concierge was very helpful.
Overall, very happy with the choice of hotel and would return.

Secret jewel in the heart of Old Ljubljana

Antiq Palace is located in a 16th century historic residence in the heart of Ljubljana's Old Town. All major attractions can be reached by foot in less than half an hour. Staff is amazingly friendly and premises are very clean and spacious. In fact, we were granted an upgrade to a 3 rooms suite despite we had booked through hotels.com at a ridiculously low rate. We did no use the spa facilities but were told by other guests that they are great. Only inconvenient is that the hotel cannot be reached by car, as it is located in a reduced traffic zone. However, this will not be a problem for guests arriving by taxi instead of their own (rental) car.

Close to all we wanted to see

Rooms awful. Neither shower in two rooms worked properly! They upgraded our room but my friends room was undesirable! Our upgraded room had a broken smashed window so no need to try to get fresh air. No atmosphere at all. Similar to a morgue! Very very disappointed. When we tried to explain to management they were ignorant and uninterested. No bar.. no restaurant.. like a haunted neglected castle.

We loved this hotel - it was very elegant and fancy, yet great with our kids. Service was friendly and everyone spoke good English. Our room was huge - two full bedrooms, living area and huge bathroom. It was bright and clean and had a nice view. The hotel breakfast was delicious. It was a life saver with kids - no need to figure out where to feed them in a town we were not familiar with. Walking distance to everything in town. Nearby lot parking was inexpensive. We loved Ljubljana and this hotel and hope to come back someday

Pre Christmas in Ljubljana

It was a wonderfully situated hotel one minute from bars, restaurants, river, shops. Beautifully appointed in a wonderful city. Finding it by car was a little challenging due to pedestrian area, but it was easily resolved. Would love to go back.

No luxury antiq

This is supposed to be a 'small luxury hotel', it's anything but! It's small, antiquated, the rooms are either large with tiny bathrooms or the other way around. In my room internet would not work (I was told rudely that it was my device, which wasn't the case, as I would get connected at the reception), carry your own soap as it is so minuscule that it was finished quickly), safe never worked (they had no batteries!), no where to put luggage. The breakfast was very good as was the young Hugarian lady who worked who worked during those hours.

Wouldn't advise my enemies to stay there.

The front desk help was not any help what so ever. The so called spa had three of the four services out of order at time of our stay. We received a lukewarm welcome and that was about it. Massage was pretty common also. Location was convenient but parking was three blocks away.

Location and Charm

Great location inside old town, which did have a little drawback as we had a car, so had to drive in and then out to unload and load bags. The only thing I think they could do is improve the dive of the bathroom of the suite we were in. They upgraded us to a massive suites with all the facilities but the bathroom was tiny, they should borrow some space from one of the other rooms in the suite to make it bigger, but otherwise it was a beautiful hotel full if old world charm.

The hotel is very well furnished and the staff are fantastic. Was a little disappointed that I had to pay 12 euros for breakfast I had not realised was not included and I only ate two slices of toast!

Lovely butique hotel in the centre of Ljubljana

Positive: A fantastic hotel, excellent location, good value for money, superb service from the reception staff, lovely room, very nice breakfast. Negative: shower cabin in our room was too small and suitable for frequent use. Conclusion: Would definitely visit again.

A beautiful building on the edge of the main city centre. Fantastic staff and great breakfast. Just one shortcoming: no curtains to the glass-sided dormer in our white-painted room, so not much chance for sleep once the sun was up! Otherwise great.

Fabulous location and helpful, friendly staff

Fabulous hotel in a fabulous country. The day trip with a guide to the Lakes was remarkable, even though it rained all day, the experience itself was unforgettable. The guide was fantastic, and gave us a true insight into the culture, the people, provided us with any information we required. She took us off the beaten track to a wonderful, traditional Slovenian restaurant in the Alps where we truly got a taste of 'local life'. The city itself was so beautiful too, very picturesque with all the Christmas lights and markets, very clean, lovely people, friendly/welcoming restaurants and cafe's. Had some of the most fabulous food in some wonderful restaurants. Highly recommend visiting Slovenia, as there is just so much to do and see. Italy is merely an hour away, 45 minutes drive to the coast, an hour to the wineries, 45 minutes to the beautiful Alps. Unforgettable and should be on every persons to-do-list!

Hotel heaven in Ljubljana...

Right from the start this hotel proved to be exceptional. They contacted us before our stay to see if we needed a transfer from the airport and when we walked in we were wowed. The suite was massive and the hotel has bags of character. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a feast including caviar and cava...brilliant value for 10 euros per head. The hotel is right in the heart of Ljubljana - perfect for sight seeing. We would definitely stay at the Antiq Palace again - no hesitation.

Do not miss this hotel

We booked a business double room and when we arrived, we were automatically upgraded to a penthouse apartment. The space was elegantly and chicly decorated. We enjoyed tunes from the music school every morning over coffee in the spacious front room on plush, orange leather couches. The staff were extremely helpful with local suggestions, the spa treatments were 5-star quality, and the breakfast was divine. Staying at Antiq Palace was one of the best experiences we've ever had in a hotel. I've never written a review of a hotel before. This is a first for a reason. I 100% recommend this hotel.

Top class accommadation

We recently had 2 nights at the Antiq Palace and Spa. This is no ordinary hotel. We had our own private and very large, comfortable apartment, complete with sunny balcony. The cold drinks and fruit platter awaiting us in the sitting room were all we needed before we had a great nights sleep after a 32 hour plus trip from Australia. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive, even down to supplying detergent to wash our clothes. The breakfast choices were extensive and of top quality. The hotel is very conveniently located in the old town, close to the river, shopping and multiple places to eat. Although as a pedestrian area we had to walk a very short block from our taxi. We very much look forward to our next visit. maybe we can take advantage of some of the other services of the hotel on our next visit.

a beautiful hotel for a beautiful city...

Our stay at the Antiq Palace Hotel and Spa Ljubjana was one of the best we have had through-out Europe. This is a beautiful little boutique hotel with all the luxurious comforts you could want. The rooms are spacious and each have their own unique design. While the building itself is old, the rooms have been recently refurbished - although they have kept with an elegant, renaissance theme.

The staff, particularly Katie and Aladin were wonderful. We had a slight issue with our booking on arrival and most hotels would have not have handled this as professionally or with as much care as the staff here did.

The only issue we had with the room was the late night noise that came up from the street - this could be somewhat muted by closing the windows but we were there in summer and needed the fresh air. In saying this though - the hotel is located in the heart of Ljubjana - you could not want for a more perfect location!

All other aspects of this hotel were 5-star in our view and we would highly recommend it to others!

Hôtel très bien placé et avec un certain charme mais ayant besoin d'une remise à niveau. Internet défaillant, joints de douche dans un état inacceptable, deux lampes de chevets non fonctionnelles, plomberie vieillissante.
L'emplacement de parking indiqué dans l'annonce est en fait payant (35€) et en nombre limité. Il n'est pas possible de s'approcher de l'hôtel en voiture, l'hôtel étant dans une zone à accès limité.
Le petit déjeuner est très moyen.
