The reception staff were all welcoming and helpful. The room was very nice and clean and had everything that we needed. It felt quite modern and efficient and comfortable. The centre of Ljubljana with all the shops, cafes and restaurants - and the river and bridges - are all just a few minutes walk away. This was a great place to stay and we'd very happily go back to this hotel.

If you're looking for a clean, comfortable hotel with character, then I highly recommend Hotel Mrak. It is well-appointed and modern with friendly, helpful staff. It's located in a small street in the old town, close to many sites and a 5 mins walk from a bus stop. If I return to Ljubljana, I'd happily stay here again. Many thanks to all the staff who made it a lovely stay.

Hotel Mrak is in a good location. Our room was clean and comfortable if a little small. The hotel is a little dark inside. Breakfast was lovely with great fresh hot options cooked to order. Staff were efficient and helpful - we didn't see the reception staff much in contrast to the other hotels we stayed in during this multi city break so it felt a little less \"friendly\" overall.

This looks to be a very nice hotel and they were very friendly at the front desk in helping me with a parking spot and a room. The rooms do look very clean and nice. I, unfortunately, must give a negative review as there was a major issue when I checked in. I checked into the hotel and before even going to my room I was notified of an airport strike that meant I needed to immediately leave and drive 5 hours back to the airport. This hotel still charged me for a room I did not stay in. I contacted Hotels.com and they called the hotel repeatedly for a week and the hotel refused to make any refund or accommodation for something completely out of my control, that being a national airport strike. Hotels.com is very frustrated with this hotel and so am I. It looks like a nice place, but unfortunately I paid for a night here to have the room for an hour before driving away.

3 minute walk from the Ljubljanica river
We spent two nights in Hotel Mrak after a week in the Julian Alps - the room was clean, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was great, and it was really close to the river and city centre (without the price or crowds). The hotel was being refurbished, but not in a hammer, drill, and constant noise sense, but in terms of furnishings and fittings. Even then, although the refurbishment hadn't reached our floor yet, our room was simple and comfortable. Overall, we'd go back to the hotel, and look forward to having another beer on the river soon.

Good value hotel in a great location for exploring all the sights of Ljubljana. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the buffet breakfast was very good. The room was comfortable but fairly basic - no tea and coffee making facilities!! We had a comfortable night there and would go back.

Once again I had just one night at this historic hotel in the old part of Ljubljana. The service was friendly just as my last visit. I would have loved to have stayed a few extra nights, but alas my schedule did not allow it. Situated in a quiet yet vibrant part of Ljubljana, close to everything you could need for a pleasant stay in this wonderful little city. I'll be back again that's for sure.

I arrived very late in the evening, well after midnight, and the staff was very welcoming. My room was the perfect size. The temperature inside was set just right. The bed had the right firmness. Toilette amenities were minimal, but for the reasonable rate, I certainly didn't mind. Very important to me, is that the room did not have that awful chemical perfume smell that corporate hotels are so fond of,

Reception was very efficient and cleared check-in under a minute, having submitted my passport. The room, bath room w/shower, and hotel facilities were very clean and presentable. Wifi for each floor meant very good internet connection. Hotel is in a good location, near the center, and a twenty minute walk from the train and bus stations. Check-out was completed in under five minutes, at 4:30 AM. The price for a double was good at about 60 euros. I stayed here in 1997 and it has only improved in the interim. Would stay again and strongly recommend.

Stayed 5 nights in room No 402. Mattress is in bad condition, Air conditioner was dripping water inside the room, one Light was out of order. Breakfast very basic. Coffee machine and food placed in a cramped up corner. Staff is nice and caring. Arif at reception is nice and friendly.

This was a very comfortable and friendly hotel in the heart of the old town of Ljubljana. The breakfast was varied and delicious. We stayed there in January and the room was cozy and warm after a cold day exploring the city.I would highly recommend this place and will definitely try to stay there on our next visit. So far, it's been the nicest place I've stayed in Ljubljana centre this last 10 years.

The Hotel is ideally placed to enjoy the Xmas market and the seasonal attractions. Unfortunately the outside facilities in the Hotel were closed and it was not obvious that there was a bar area or that an evening meal was available , the only menu being for lunch. There is no lounge area, however the buffet style breakfast offered a wide range of fare but is set out in an area that is cramped and only one person at a time can get their requirements. It did offer good value
