Severely overpriced property that doesn’t deliver, inconsiderate staff, several lapses in basic service - these folks don’t care for their customers - it’s all about the money. We spent more than double compared to any other hotel in Amsterdam, and it was a big mistake. Don’t make the same mistake we did. This hotel is not worth it at all!, even if it was priced half of its current crazy high price.

What a lovely business trip! From the moment I arrived I was greeted by smiling faces at both the entrance and then during check in with my guest service host Meÿke. She went out of her way to book me a ticket to the Van Gogh museum and a private sunset wine and cheese cruise on the canals on the most beautiful wooden boat. The propertyi is immaculate and the service is 5 star all around. Finally the beds were like sleeping on figurative clouds. I highly recommend this hotel.

I love the Waldorf Astoria Hotel brand. Their hotel staff know how to make a traveler feel at home. How ? 1.Tending to my needs for clean rooms. 2 Providing information about where to go or where to eat. 3. The turndown service with my selected scent sprayed around the room and bed before I went to sleep. 4. Free bottles of water each day. Most premium hotel don't do that anymore. 5. Getting the door for me evert time. 6. Researching local pharmacies to find contact lens cleaning solution for my specialized contact lens.

From the moment we arrived, the staff at this Waldorf Astoria was highly attentive to our needs. The hotel is beautiful and clean. We had early checkin needs which they were kind and able to accommodate (even though they can't guarantee this). They went above and beyond in so many other areas as well. Our massage experience at the WA spas also very pleasant and professional. The service a this WA was far better than the Four Seasons, HI. The only other hotel where we have seen this level of service and attention to customer satisfaction was at the Montage in Maui!

Nice hotel but check in problems
The hotel is a few years old and is a nice facility. The bar is small and in the basement but good service. I had trouble checking in and continue to have unresolved issues with charges on my credit card despite several trips to the front desk. The area is good but better areas of Amsterdam.

Everything was perfection, from checking in to making our dinner reservations and having a car waiting to take us to dinner. The rooms are fabulous and large, the bathtub deep, and the bed and pillows plumped for a wonderful slumber. The staff is beyond polite, respectful, helpful and kind. My new favorite place in the world.

The Waldorf Astoria in Amsterdam is over-the-top extraordinary. It is much bigger (though it is not that large) and made up of 6 old townhouses that were combined. It sits right on a canal and has a lovely back garden, and a gorgeous entrance with magnificent staircase and beautiful common area with windows looking out over the garden, plus an historic old dining room for private parties, and a grand piano to play at the high tea that is served every day. It has a Michelin two star restaurant, but we did not eat in it. We did eat in the lovely Goldfinch restaurant just off the garden and the food was marvelous. Our room was lovely and the bathroom was huge. Service was terrific. The concierge arranged a private taxi for us to go out to the Keukenhof Gardens one afternoon to see the tulips in bloom. When we checked in they asked us which fragrance we wanted in our room…and every night they came in a sprayed the room with perfume?! When Jim ordered a bucket of ice it came in less than 5 minutes. Breakfast was not included and it was an extra $40 each ($80 a day) which was a shock, but when we asked they said we could order “a-la-carte” and so we were pleased to end up spending less.

Husband and I spent 3 days in Amsterdam to celebrate our 40ths and wedding anniversary. Hotel was amazing, superb location, walked everywhere. Staff were so attentive, birthday/anniversary card and treat, food exceptional. Room was amazing (overlooking garden) - spacious, clean. If you can, stay here. Concierge was super helpful too - knew all the local places, was able to make great recommendations re food.

The hotel is in a great location - walking distance to everything and on one of the nicest canals in central Amsterdam.
We booked a Canal View room and were not disappointed - a nice size with a large bathroom. The room was quiet too.
We had breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner in our hotel during our stay and all of the meals were excellent with amazing service.

Difficult to fault this hotel: it is in a perfect position within easy walking distance to the theatre, opera, museums and Amsterdam life. The loft room was spacious and comfortable with a bathroom that was just the best. Nice people and never crowded or rushed. A great place for a short break.
The only slight niggle was that breakfast finishes as 1030, and it was made pretty clear to us that we had outstayed our welcome at 1045 - cutlery was rattled, a bill was presented and we felt obliged to take the remainder of our coffee out into the garden. But I guess they had to lay up for lunch or something. We went to one of the excellent local cafes for breakfast after that.

The overall experience from check-in to the room was over and above. I have stayed at other Waldorf properties in the past and I must say it was my best experience at the chain. I didn't get to try the Michelin star restaurant due to prior engagement but definitely will try it next time I am in Amsterdam.

The only problem we had is where i pay cash for everything at the time of having it, they tried to charge me again for a meal costing £155.00, clearly I was not happy as i paid cash on the night, but clearly a member of staff did not put this through and so they were saying that i had not paid when i clearly had.
This is still being looked into so I am not happy that it was not sorted before i came home. this has made us leave with a not so happy feeling and where all my tensions went now they are back because of this incident, so if paying cash make sure you get a reciept for it even when they tell you that it has gone through. Also this 250.00 booking charge that is blocked, again i was told on booking in that this will b stopped on booking out and no money will be taken, again this is incorrect as it takes 5 days to correct its self, therefore anyone paying this you are also paying interest on it, and they are getting interest on money that you have not even spent, not a good idea.

The hotel is lovely overall and has some amazing plus points, but the maid service is poor for a five star hotel. The restaurant was incredible but very expensive indeed (even by the standards of Michelin starred restaurants). Our room was lovely - large, clean and well presented, with a lovely huge marble bathroom. The public areas of the hotel are amazing. The concierge was helpful.

This is a beautiful 5 star hotel that looks new ~ everything is clean, fresh and classy. The rooms are large and spacious, and I had a gorgeous room overlooking the canal with large windows. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom has heated floors! Guests get to select their fragrance for turn down service. It makes the room smell lovely after dinner. The staff is excellent ~ friendly and helpful. The staff recommended great restaurants every night. The hotel is in a great location that is quite at night, but close to a large number of great restaurants and museums. The food at the hotel was delicious. I was very impressed ~ it is one of my favorite hotels in Europe!
