The staff was wonderful and helpful. The rooms are a bit outdated but clean and everything worked. The breakfast was basic but quite delicious. The location can’t be beat. We would like to return! Thank you!

We stayed 2 night, there was no housekeeping done; bed was not made , towels weren’t change , no Kleenex in the room.

Wonderful for solo person. The room is not small. Very well organized space. The room facing back yard, very quiet. The hotel location is pretty convenient, walk around 15-30 mins to almost everything. Staff are friendly as well.

All the staff were very courteous and helpful. Marko stands out above most for his kind and cheerful demeanor. The location on the Prinsengracht Canal is very convenient and there are very good restaurants nearby. We enjoyed the John Dory restaurant just two doors down from the hotel and there is a supermarket just around the corner. The rooms, although very small by American standards, were very clean and practical. It should be noted that, in preparation for Amsterdam's 750th birthday in 2025, the area is getting refreshed on the outside as with other parts of Amsterdam. This is not a significant distraction and the result is very nice.

I arrived at 9.30 pm due to Eurostar delays, having walked the 2 miles from station with heavy luggage. The hotel claimed no knowledge of my Expedia booking, and all rooms were full. Showing them the Expedia booking made no difference. At 68 years old, it was no fun trying to find another hotel, as all were full. Feel totally let down. I'd like to think they were telling the truth and they hadn't just given my booking to someone else because of my late arrival, but I doubt it. A very bad experience.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom garden house. Clean, Well maintained. A double room and good sized twin room. Sharing an adjoined (jack and jill) bathroom. Good to have a small table and chairs in each room. House includes hairdryer, kettle, coffee machine, toiletries. Added bonus of mini fridges in each room. Seating area outside garden house to enjoy the sun, would buy pastries, fruit and juices from local supermarket and have breakfast before going out. Heat pump heaters in room very efficient if gets cool. House feels private and safe as only accessible through the hotel to the courtyard at the back. Hotel well located in nice area for canals, restaurants, cafes, bars and tourist attractions, very short walk to tram stop. Would go back and stay again

Excellent location and very helpful staff. Only complaint is the extremely soft mattress in the single rooms. Didn’t sleep well. Others experienced the same. If matresses aren’t changes then I won’t return but if they do change, I will definitely return and recommend.

I rented a single room. It was a very adequate size, comfortable bed, very clean,medium size wardrobe, desk and 2 chairs. Room was quiet over night with a nice view of the garden.Reception staff were all friendly, helpful with very good levels of English

I booked this room for a friend coming from Turkey. On his way to the airport, his Uber was in a terrible accident delaying his flight. My friend is still in hospital. The driver was killed. I requested consideration for this circumstance, perhaps credit for future stay. The woman at the desk refused. There are times when we should make the right decision to be human and decent. Both EasyJet and Pegasus budget airlines have been extremely understanding and refunding all costs. Disappointing.

My only disappointment was that I was expecting a twin room but my wife and I found ourselves in what was in effect two single rooms with an adjoining door. However, this was not a huge proble.

Really enjoyed my stay here, lovely hotel in a beautiful place next to the Prinsengracht canal situated in the middle of the canal Belt. Friendly staff, helpful and readily available for help with most requests for your stay. Lovely garden area set with beautiful views of neighbouring houses. Would stay here again, good room amenities and daily housekeeping service.

Lovely hotel in a nice location. The staff were polite but not overly friendly. The room was clean and spacious but a little worn. The lighting was terrible. We had the main light the lamp and the two bedside lamps on and it barely made a difference. You have to give your key into reception every time you leave the hotel, it’s a proper door key with a massively heavy key ring and would be a pain to carry about but I’d rather just be able to keep my room key. Check in is at 2pm but you are able to leave your luggage before and after check in which is really handy and something I took advantage of. It’s a relatively short walk to all the main attractions. 30 mins from Amsterdam central 15mins to Leidseplein 10 mins to Rembrandt square 20 mins to Rijksmuseum 20 mins to Ann frank house with plenty to see and do along the way. We didn’t eat there but the menu look ok. There are plenty of places nearby to go and eat for much less than the hotel charged though. Overall a lovely stay but sort the lighting out.

Cute hotel. Enjoyed our stay. Just be aware there aren’t any air conditioners in rooms, you’re asked not to eat or drink in your room and when you leave the hotel you need to give your key to the front desk each time. Other than that the breakfast was great, the workers we nice and helpful and the location is beautiful. I would stay here again.

Do not stay here!

We were given basically what was a cupboard under the stairwell. The room had vending machines outside the door so all night we were kept awake with loud drunk people using the machines all the way to the early hours,in between the noise of the machines was the loud thudding of people going up and down the stairs which echoed like a herd of elephants. Didn’t get any sleep all night which ruined the next day. Spoke to receptionist who basically didn’t give a monkeys. Emailed manager on Sunday and the hotel hasn’t even responded great customer service. I’m not a fussy traveller and I never put bad reviews on but felt I had to on this occasion. Do not stay in room 7 if you want to sleep.

The hotel is located in a quite canal area. My room is to the garden and it's very quite at night. Breakfast is good and reception is friendly. Because my room is on the first floor there are mosquitoes in the room, but they are not that annoying. With staying the hotel for the whole week I feel it likes a home and I will definitely come back again if I travel to Amsterdam again.

excellent location, close to trams, museums, restaurants . Very nice, helpful staff, could not ask for more in that regard. They let me stay an extra hour in my room. Average but generous breakfast, all the basics provided and served until 11AM on weekend. But the small and stuffy room is problematic if you're sensitive to smell. Two single beds crammed inside and a strong odour old smoke obviously from the building's long history. They attempt to mask that with a strong air freshener. As you can imagine, a lot of people would find that objectionable, although I got used to it by the second day. Night one was harder. The smell is in the old carpet, should be ripped up. Obvious they are selling the room as a double during busy season, so beware. The room is barely big enough for one person to move around. Hardly anywhere to put luggage. The bathroom was spanking new and completely renovated, was very nice with a good shower and all new facilities. I'm also sure there is no aircon in the rom, and one tiny window, so hot weather, yikes. . Otherwise, it is quite a good option and reasonably priced if you don't mind the smell of stale smoke.

Closer to museum quarter than to center, but still within walking distance to Dam Square. Paid for superior king room overlooking canal. Got room 508 (actually the 6th floor since ground floor is not counted in Europe) is on the top floor and too high to see the canal unless you are in front of the window. King bed was comfortable, but furniture is a little tired. The best feature Of this room is the bathroom with a great double shower.

This is the second time we have stayed here, the staff are very helpful and friendly, the breakfast is very good and the location is ideal for the galleries and trips out, lots of restaurants only a short walk away and although we are not young find we can walk from the main railway station to the hotel without any problems.

I would recommend Princengracht Hotel. It is in a great location, bike/walk to all the main sites. Not walking distance to central train station with luggage, but the local train/tram has a stop one block away which will get you to/from central station. Hotel is clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. They assist with bike rental and luggage storage. Room was small and basic but comfortable. A little noisy with thin walls. Breakfast was delicious.....coffee, huge selection of meats/cheese, eggs, bread/pastries, cereals, and fruit.

The Prinsengracht Hotel was ok. The location was great as was the back garden. My room was small (expected, not a problem) and clean. The staff was friendly. Drawbacks included the room key (it's a key! a real key!), the noise, and the breakfast. You have to leave the key when you leave the hotel, which was a bit annoying. When my neighbors showered it sounded like a flood in my room. I actually got up to check if something was flooding in the bathroom. This was bothersome when three people showered one after another after midnight. The breakfast was not great. The eggs looked like they'd been sitting for a good while, but the bread and coffee were fine. Overall, I wasn't disappointed but I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the price relative to accommodations.

Nothing more than a place to sleep

It was a good location and great view of canal and buildings .service was fine .You paid for extra coffee in room,no ice machines, not that clean,shower let water all over floor. Nothing more than a room to sleep in. No tissue,no pens paper etc... just a room . And it was priced to where you might think you would get more .breakfast was extra 9.50 euro so we didn't eat there .would not stay again .

Room and bathroom are small, but that will be the case most anywhere in Amsterdam. Room is clean. Staff are friendly and very helpful, hotel breakfast (14.50 EUR) is nice, with hot eggs and fresh fruit including melons and strawberries. Reception is half a flight of stairs below street level, and from there there is an elevator to the floors with the rooms. All stairs are normal, not the extra-steep, narrow, and turning stairs otherwise common to Amsterdam. Great location on a pretty canal, walking distance to most points of interest. I enjoyed staying there and felt safe and comfortable. I would have liked to pay less, but given a central location in a popular Western European capital, I guess that's what the price is.

A very nice and well positioned hotel

The room is great for two people who require some privacy : it was a so called linked room which is actually a combination of two small rooms, each one with its own exit to the hall, with one joint facility and a connecting door. A very quiet hotel, our windows were looking to a canal.
All attractions and places of interest are in a walking distance: the Amsterdam Centraal railway terminal is 30 min on feet, the Museum Plain is 10 minutes away... the list may go on and on.
A breakfast is VERY FILLING ... but it's expensive if not included (we did not have it included, tried only once). If you do not eat much, you will quickly find a couple of cafes close by.
Also, the hotel provides a free kettle ... it's a good alternative to their coffee/tea machine because cartridges do not come cheap - one euro a cartridge.

Miserable experience

At check in we were told that we could have a \"room upgrade\" if we wished--that we could have the \"garden house\", situated n the back yard away from the hotel. We liked that it would likely be quieter than the hotel, which faces the street. It consisted of two large rooms, one with a queen-size bed and one with two twin beds--so, lots of room, too.

Well, we could not operate the safe. We finally called reception, and it was explained that the instructions for the safe inside the closet door were not correct. We were told what to do, and then it worked. The \"free wi-fi\" was not working in our room. It took visits from three people and several hours to get that ironed out. It took several hours to figure out how to operate the windows. Then, when I got into the shower that evening, there was no hot water--again, another call to reception and another visit from them--we were told that they had forgotten to turn on the water heater. The coffee machine was extremely difficult to operate, and did not have any instructions. When we finally go it to work, they charged us for two additional pods (1E each) for the second day of our stay. The bed was about 8 inches off the floor, the bed fame was not solid, and the mattress was horribly uncomfortable.

Hotel on a nice canal, near everything & quiet.

we had a cozy room (with a king bed) overlooking the Canal. Really liked it.

only complaints would be the bathroom was a bit tight, and we were there during an unusual hot spell (in mid September). Room got very hot during the day.

Loved the flowers on the window outside our room.

This was a find, a spacious double room with King size bed, canal view and breakfast included for under £80. The staff were quietly accommodating, helpful, professional and friendly and all spoke good English, luckily for us. Breakfast was decent, continental, plentiful and served in a breakfast room opening out onto a lovely patio garden which doubled as a bar in the evening. Great value and wonderful weekend.

Decent hotel close to everything

This was my first solo trip to Amsterdam and I chose this hotel based on location and it was great. I was able to mostly walk everywhere I wanted to go. The hotel staff was always great to speak with and answer questions. I also liked that I had to leave my room key with them and I didn't have to keep up with it. It was nice that they automatically recognized me when I returned to my room. This actually made me feel safer! The breakfast was nice and sufficient. It was good that it was included in the price I paid.

As for the room, I was definitely paying for the location. I chose a single room which is tiny compared to American standards, but this didn't bother me because I wasn't there to stay in my room anyway. I was also on the bottom floor which didn't help matters either. There were a few cleanliness issues but nothing to complain to management about. The bed was comfortable and I slept well.

All things considered, I would stay here again. It's a little expensive for what you get in the hotel, but it's all about location and Hampshire is in an awesome area!

Concsidering the amount that we paid, it was very disappointing. The room was basic, the bedding was basic. We rarely had any tea, sugar or milk provided for us, so we bought our own. We had to ask for towels on one occasion, because none had been left. The shower leaked under the door and into the rest of the bathroom. The bathroom floor had uneven and broken tiles which were painful to stand on. The vending machine didn't always work as it should. The breakfast arrangements were very cramped unless you were lucky enough to get a single table. Although advertised on the website, the facility to print our boarding passes were not available. We were told that the printer wasn't working.

had to cover shower drain, when other rooms have shower the noise comes right thru pipes as does smell, fit some u-bends into plumbing would solve problem(not an expensive fix but a needed one)

Nice calm hotel in mainly residential area..

Apart from a small hiccup with thee room only being set up for 2 people when there were infact 3 of us, hence the triple room it was a nice pleasant stay in a small calm hotel. Yes the bathroom could have been plusher but it was very clean and the beds were comfy, including the sofa bed. The room overlooked the garden which must be lovely in summer.
The guy on the front desk helped print out a booking we made there, for a small fee. English was readily spoken and we felt welcome.

I had a room with canal view which was a reasonable size. I saw some which were quite small, I don't know how two people managed to stay in them. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is very good. The quality of the breakfast included with the room was a surprise. Hotel and room were very clean and the bathroom amenities were of good standard.

Great little place

Loved this hotel, and would certainly stay there again. Location is basically halfway between the center city (red light district, central train station), and the museum district. Both are easily walkable, though I much preferred renting a bike from the hotel for a flat daily rate. Neighborhood is a lovely residential area, so no drunk or stoned throngs wandering around at all hours. The room that I stayed in, with one double bed, was quite small but was well appointed, clean, and comfy. My smaller and cheaper room looked out over the courtyard, which was nice, but if you want a great view, the canal in front of the hotel is quintessential Amsterdam. The hotel uses real metal keys for the rooms, and instead of having you keep the keys on you as you wander the city, the front desk has you turn them in when you leave and then gives them back when you return. This seemed weird to me at first, but it was actually great, because it meant that the front desk people were always there, 24-7, and it meant that nobody was getting in the hotel without having to interact with the front desk person, which felt reassuring somehow. All of the front desk people were also very helpful with information, such as the fact that you could take a cheap tram to the train station to get a train to the airport (for around 10 euros total).

The room was ok. The bed was 2 twins pushed together but they tended not to stay that way. The room was pretty dark and didn't have a window that opened.

Lovely hotel & well located

Really enjoyed our 4 nights at this hotel. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious and had a lovely view of the Prinsengracht canal. The air conditioning did not work very well though so we slept with the windows open two nights as the weather was warm.

The hotel was very well located and just an easy walk or cycle from everywhere we wanted to go (city centre, parks, sights etc). The hotel was also well located right between two good eating/drinking areas (Rembrandtplein and Leidsedwarsstraat).

I would stay at this hotel again!

A simple but clean hotel, with friendly staff. Breakfast was nothing fancy but it was just fine. Room was a little small, but clean and comfortable. Great location for exploring the canals, and an easy walk to most places. No parking available so make sure you book yourself into one of the local large car-parks. I strongly recommend the Central Parking by the main train Station-can book online, efficient and a good price (about 30 min walk)

Nice budget hotel in a great location. Have to drop off and pick up your room key each time you enter and exit which is a bit dated but ok. Breakfast wasn't bad for the price. Really nice little courtyard at the back of the hotel.

Great Location, Great room.

Great neighborhood, you can also rent bikes here, which makes everything 5-10 mins away. The staff was very helpful and always at their post. This is an amazing location, its away from the noise in a very authentic part of Amsterdam. I would absolutely stay here again. The room was pretty big, we had a canal room on the 1st floor. Beautiful outside structure too.
