No elevator for the fourth floor. Stairs are spiral and VERY steep, with very small stair treads that are not large enough to place entire foot on. Otherwise, the property and location were great.

The staff is very friendly and works hard however, the room condition was poor. Carpet was worn out and ripped, you can hear the floor creaking when you walk as well as the people on the corridors and the neighbors above and on the sides. Bedding and towels were full of hair. Breakfast is ok.

Spent 9 days here and had a blast. They have bike rentals available! The walls are thin, so if you’re a light sleeper like myself, I would recommend bringing a white noise/sound machine if noise bothers you. Comfortable beds and staff was awesome. Thank you 🙏.

Very friendly staff and a good location close to the tram station. They need to update their location on Google maps as it takes you to the back side so it was a bit of a hassle to find the actual entrance at first. The elevator doesn’t get to the 4th floor and the stairs are pretty steep and difficult to climb and it’s more difficult to climb with luggage

Small room in a quiet neighborhood.

Small room sufficient for one person, with one chair and a small desk. Only one side of the bed is accessible. The other one is again the window. A small step up into the bathroom can be problematic (I kicked my toe to it). You may also bump your head to the tray mounted on the wall above the sink. A quiet neighborhood with two markets on each side of the block. Walking distance to major attractions (if you don't mind to walk beyond 30 min).

very small room

with our luggages, we barely fit in the room. very small.
but this is not that bad compare to the bathroom condition, it was really old and VERY small, so the shower has a curtain that constantly touches your body when you shower (it's very uncomfortable)
I hit my head twice using the toilet because the sink was very very very close to it.

But the staff were super friendly and nice. They helped us to check in like 2-3 hour earlier

if you want to stay like for a day, it might be tolerable but not more than that

Ideally located easy to use the No 4 tram into city centre (also a short walk to Metro, No 1/7/19 tram to other parts city). Breakfast is perfectly adequate with good selection of options to choose from. Its a basic hotel, but was clean and comfortable. Reception staff were very helpful. Pefect for a short stay

Great stay, had 3 nights in the Hotel. Room was in the attic so had small stairs to climb but they were fine. Breakfast daily was fab and plenty to choose from. Would definitely stay here again when I return to Amsterdam and would recommend.

Cosy Hotel, clean and tidy!

A cosy hotel with excellent staff who were so very helpful, the rooms although small were clean and tidy and do beware of the steep stairs. Breakfast was excellent with basic, but good food! Overall a great stay for a weekend getaway!

Steep stairs is fine, but the 1 and only (floor to ceiling) ballustrade had become detatched fromt the ceiling and the handrail on the other side was loose - dangerous when trying to support yourself going up and down. My wife nearly fell due to that ballustrade not being attached.
- acoustics in the bedroom; could constantly hear traffic noise at night.
- bed had a ridge in the middle, making one half lower than the other.

Great place to rest after seeing the city.

Highly recommended if you are looking for a place to base yourself as you go out into the city. Nice comfortable bed. Friendly and very helpful staff. Breakfast is the standard hotel buffet fare (which personally enjoy) and included in the price. Excellent wifi also included in the price.

Surrounding area has a supermarkets close by as well as a good range of very nearby restaurants. The museum quarter is 15 minutes walk away and a tram stop that will take you directly to Dam and Centraal is right across the road.

If you're looking for a place where the hotel itself is to be a large part of your trip then perhaps look at a different style of hotel.

Small room which had mice

We arrived at the hotel early and were told we could check in early. However, once we were past reception we were disappointed by the cleanliness of the the corridors through the hotel. There is only one small lift which is the only access to 2nd and 3rd floors and often had to wait as it was full when coming to the second floor, or access to the lift was being blocked by the cleaners.
The room we were given was small, although this wasn't a problem in itself the shower room was tiny and felt very claustrophobic.
Breakfast was fine, other than the mess and dirt in the surrounding areas caused by building work being undertaken.
On the final night if our stay we were woken by rustling around our suitcase which was caused by two mice. We tried to call reception to find the phone was broken so had to go downstairs to report it. The only response we were given was that \"Amsterdam has mice\". When we requested they came to the room to remove them they noticed that there was a hole in our wall that was usually blocked with something that had been uncovered their solution was to stuff something into the hole and that was it.
Not a good hotel, unless you like mice and sleepless nights

Room 101 is very noisy

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and varied with fresh fruit and I loved the fresh boiled eggs and yogurt and bread. The breakfast staff were very efficient in clearing the tables and providing foods as soon as they were finished, very kind and helpful. We were in room 101 and as this was on the road level we did not sleep for 2 whole nights traffic was noisy all the night and the scooters passed just next to the windows, people talking loudly just in front of the windows. Very badly insulated and I think this room should not be rented for holidaymakers especially at the price we paid. We mentioned this to the staff but the hotel was fully booked and they were very sorry to not be able to move us.

The check in time was 3 and we presented to the hotel at 3:30 and our rooms were not ready. The lobby was full and their was one person at the desk and clearly overwhelmed as many were trying to check in at the same time. However, checkout and our other experiences were ok

Good choice in the old De Pijp area.

The hotel is just 2 minutes from the #4 tram stop. This gives easy access to the city center and the train station, and from there to Schiphol airport. The area is pleasant rather than exciting.
The hotel is not romantic and the room won't wow you with luxury but it's modern, clean and does the job. Our room on the ground floor was quiet and wifi worked well in our room and the public areas. There were good towels and plenty of hot water.
The staff were helpful, and we were able to leave our luggage for a few hours after check-out. The free breakfast is really good, perhaps the best feature, although the breakfast area is a bit cramped.

Had a wonderful stay at Ibis Styles Amsterdam Amstel! We only stayed one night- would definitely stay here again.
The rooms are small but you’re there to take in the city so the size of the room was not an issue. Once we got in our room, we did notice the window handle was broken off. We told the front desk and they had maintenance fix right away!
We were impressed with the breakfast included with our stay. Typically, included breakfast offerings are just a piece of toast and coffee in Europe- but at Ibis it was quite the spread!

Good hotel, room was on the small side but was nice and cosy. Free breakfast included was good, not just continental but they had bacon and eggs too which was a very good way to start the day. Easy walking distance to local shops etc but I would recommend a taxi for getting to central Amsterdam. Be aware there is another Ibis a few doors down so make sure you go to the right one.

My hotel room (403) stank of raw sewage throughout the room. The heating also did not work, and as it was -3c outside, the top floor room was freezing cold. Notified reception, but had to battle with the man to get them to move me into a new room that evening. New room (310) was warmer and less smelly, but tiny. Barely saw any staff in the hotel most of the time. for a hotel chain, the quality was pretty awful and the staff did the bare minimum to make my stay enjoyable. I won't be using this hotel again.

The hotel is in a nice quiet location whilst being relatively central. 20 minutes from the red Light District, 15 from the Rijksmuseum and 5 from the Heineken experience. The hotel itself is very pleasant, slightly small rooms but definitely comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful; we asked to change room because our original room was located next to the kitchen which was very noisy, they moved us happily and quickly!

Not my first time in Amsterdam so I knew what to expect in the location and the purpose of my trip. Hotel was good for a quick two day stopover in Amsterdam. Room was small but to be expected in Amsterdam. Adequate for sleeping, good air conditioner. Bathroom was clean, water pressure in the shower was really good but shower was quite tight.

Location is the most important thing for a hotel in Amsterdam and this hotel's location in the De Pijp neighbourhood is great. Right next to the #4 tram Stadhouderskade Station for easy access to the Dam, Centraal Station and other tourist sites. Location is right near the Albert Cuyp Market, Hop on Hop off Boat drop off/pickup point, the Heineken Experience Beer Museum and the Museum Quarter.

Staff were helpful, breakfast was good, hotel was clean but we had no prior warning that the stairs to our room on the top floor were so steep it would have helped to have a safety harness and the walls were so thin that my daughter could hear the guy snoring in the next room clearer than she could hear me! Also being woken up at 4:30am after our last night by some loud selfish weed loving perverts enhanced all the negatives about a city that is beautiful, historical and friendly but tainted by drugs and prostitution.

All staff were consistently helpful and friendly throughout. There was someone available 24/7 if we needed any assistance. The cleaners also provided a high quality of service.

Breakfast was lovely every morning.

Location was close to cafes, coffee shops, supermarkets and Dam Square.

The only fault I can find with the hotel is that there was no mini fridge provided in the room.

Fantastic hotel for such a cheap price.

Pleasant little hotel on edge of town

The hotel served our purposes perfectly. It was on the edge of town but a pleasant walk got you to a point of interest easily. Breakfast was fine, if a little chaotic due to the small size of the breakfast room. We stayed in a regular room which was quite small bur adequate for a couple on a mini-break. There are a lot of stairs at this hotel which are very steep and very narrow and while there is also a lift, it works sporadically.

Really disappointed by the room we received. It was WAY smaller than any of the rooms in the photos. Literally was the width of a double bed. This was realy uncomfortable for my husband who is over 6ft tall. The bathroom as so narrow your elbows would touch both sides if you put your hands on your hips (even by European standards). The elevator was out of service, the bathroom smelled of sewage off-gass. Although it looked modern-ish, the photos online were very misleading.
The one good thing was the staff and service. The breakfast servers were super friendly and hepfu.

The staff in the hotel were extremely welcoming and helpful! The building however was under renovation (no elevator, so had to go up the stairs with heavy suitcases) and there was lots of noise as of 9am. The bed was comfortable but the room and bathroom were quite small. The neighbourhood was very calm and there was a tram stop 1 minute away and the ride to Amsterdam Central (and the red light district) was 12 min or so. It was walking distance from the Heineken Experience and from the Van Gogh Museum so that was great! I would stay there again!

Firstly we had to move rooms as the one we were assigned smelt like something had died in there.

We were then moved to a much smaller room with the smallest double bed I have ever seen - more like a single and a half!!! Absolutely tiny so our sleep was pretty uncomfortable for the time we were there as there was no space for 2 people really!

The hotel was convenient for travel into Dam Sq, close to bus & tram stops, staff were very pleasant and helpful, hotel is a little dated, the lift was out of order and the stairs were extremely steep to climb, the view from the window over the canal was very good, the room was small but comfortable and very clean, the shower was a nightmare, going from hot to cold and very difficult to get to the right temperature, overall was a comfortable stay but have been to cheaper hotels which were better.

Great little hotel / bed and breakfast. On the edge of the canal ring but only a one minute walk from a tram stop for a 10 minute ride into city centre. Staff were very polite and helpful. Yes the stairs are steep (as with all properties in Amsterdam) and the lift was slow but that adds to the character. Would definitely stay there again.

Not bad!

No problems really, did the job and only minor things like the wi-fi connection which kept disappearing was an issue.

Great locations with local shops, bars etc. Friendly hotel staff, a decent if boring style breakfast. Just glad I suppose that it was included.

Would stay here again.

beware of website pictures

it took us 2 moves to get a room that was bright and was not smelling cigarettes.
I wish I could post pictures of the 1st room we were given and the 2 nd one we had to spend our 1st night in as no others were apparently not available.
Dark (needed to have the light on), outside was showing the air condition unit for the whole building with the image of a little girl for brightening up the wall located at max 3 metres from the window.
Smelly- despite having asked specifically for a NON SMOKING room, the 2 rooms were stinking cigarette.
Not good start.
The second night was a bit better. We finally got out of our cave and moved to the ground floor and re discovered the natural light again.
Still as we were located besides the breakfast point, people were coming for a cigarette just beside the room window...
Ah well, luckily it was only a short stay.

Not sure if I would book this hotel again

Very small room. Close to down town centres. Elevator rarely was operating, stairs were very steep. (good exercise, bad with luggage) Parking not always available and not very secure, shouldn't have brought a car to Amsterdam anyway.... No fridge in room. Shower was good with great water pressure.

Two stars, not three

The hotel is small and the rooms are tiny. This is entirely acceptable in Amsterdam. It is expensive for what it is, but if cost is not important this does not matter that better finacial value can be obtained elsewhere. The breakfast was excellent as was the breakfast room. The people were professional and obliging, except for one man at reception who was so terrible that he was amusing. The hotel is officially rated 2 stars, not 3 as hotels.com rates it. Contrary to other reviews, the hotel is easily accessible and is close to the Centrum.

Great location everything else is rubbish, avoid.

Great location, terrible hotel. Old building which has not been converted well, very steep stairs to top floor rooms making it dangerous to carry luggage up them, would be impossible for children, elderly or impered. Lift is painfully slow and only operates to the third floor. Advertised car park was full as it could only hold 3 cars..... Hotel staff were not interested in helping in anyway and there was no iron or iorning board avaible in the whole hotel for our stay and the staff made no effort to help with this. Would not recomend.
