A wonderful find in Amsterdam. Only maybe 15 minutes walk from the centre, 2 minutes from a metro station and a bus stop if you didn’t fancy the walk. We were holidaying and the hotel had lots of business people in too but the atmosphere was great! That mix of people, nationalities and vibe was perfect. Cannot praise the staff enough, every single one we came into contact with was amazing. Our loft room had everything we could have needed, spacious, clean and on the right side of quirky! Just brilliant! We will 100% return, we loved our stay.

The room, not the loft, was tiny and the bed was next to the wall. It was hidden on the room photos and not clearly visible. So it was not comfortable for two people. Plus the bathroom is not a bathroom. The sink is outside the bathroom and in the room. It was exceptionally clean, but the room was not comfortable. The breakfast was €25 and very good.

Great location, close to Metro. Awesome rooftop; ideal for viewing the city and gathering. Restaurant and Bar are also on rooftop. A bit of disappointment on the breakfast choices: either coffee/croissant or the entire Buffett. Overall a great place to stay.

Expensive Hotel from Hell

The staff and cleanliness of the room for how expensive it is are very poor. The staff are not helpful or friendly. Not sure if they were on strike during my visit. The room was a disaster. The bed wasn’t made, dust everywhere, not enough towels, no fridge/microwave/anything to make the place a home. The window doesn’t even open all the way so if your A/C is bad you’re going to be very hot. Tbh don’t stay here. Come for the roof and the restaurant. Those are the best parts. I cancelled the rest of my stay after one night and found a better hotel.

If you do stay here: There is luggage lockers on-site available before and after you check-in which is a lovely touch. You also have access to a shower even before check-in if you want to rinse off before enjoying the city. Location is lovely with shops and grocery just a 5 min walk away.

Always a good stay at Zoku

Always a good stay at Zoku, it's quirky and modern and very well equipped. Stayed in a grand loft which was nice and roomy. Obviously the big issue is bed here, which is up a set of stairs on a platform, when I first started staying here many years ago, this was great, now I'm a bit older it's a bit more of a hazard but otherwise great. The bar/restaurant/workspace is always good and the staff are really helpful and friendly.

Convenient location near attractions and train lines, yet a bit out of the way from all the touristy areas. The patios on the roof are a nice place to relax, drink a glass of wine, and enjoy the views. The restaurant is also tasty. The XL loft was a nice place to settle every evening of a week long stay.

Booked a one night stay for 1 guest on the day of and received a room that appears to be a janitors closet converted into a children’s room with a bunk bed. The images I saw were of no relation to the room I received and there was no description provided either. I received a key for room 101 and it was a challenge finding it as it didn’t exist on the first floor. You literally have to walk down the fire escape stairs because it exists on the landing area between the ground floor and the first floor. I checked in after 10:30pm and decided it was too late to dispute it.

10/10 recommend. I stayed here for 3 days and although I was initially a little disappointed that Zoku isn’t located in a busier neighborhood, the proximity to transportation, the quiet rooms, comfortable beds, friendly helpful staff, delicious food, and incredibly convenient rooftop work space more than made up for any initial hesitation. I will be looking to stay here again if I ever make my way back to Amsterdam again and highly recommend for anyone needing to mix and bit of work, travel, and leisure.

If your idea of a nice place to stay is a hotel decorated and furnished by IKEA - yes, IKEA - this might be your place. And if it is, be prepared to pull a ladder out of wall to climb across a deck to get into your bed, which sits above about a 120 square foot mini space. For this, the reservations line quoted me 229 euros a night but Expedia sold it to me for 179 euros. Added thrills: a salad I ordered was billed to me at checkout at 32.50 euros, and when you eat there you have to bus your own dishes. Folks, I live in France, I travel extensively in Europe and would caution you that this is not the place you want for a happy stay in Amsterdam.

I really enjoyed my stay at Zoku, the thought process and space management is quite impressive. Believe me when I say they thought everything through. It’s a unique one and I will definitely be back whenever I am in Amsterdam. My only downside is that you had to pull your luggage and go all the way to the 6th floor to check in and out, that was quite an inconvenience.

The room was not big enough to warrant a high price. The bed was hard to get out of for the one sleeping by the wall (I have not rated down for this aspect, just saying). The cover for the duvet did not have domes so it hung loose after one sleep - the bed was comfortable. The couch was uncomfortable. No dish cloth to wipe the table or bench - just 2 tea towels. The shower door squeaked badly every time it was closed. The water came out on to the floor after each shower. The shower had good pressure.

Plenty of places to store luggage in the room and the table was a bonus.

The complimentary drink and outdoor seating is nice to be able to enjoy this drink. The staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The photos make the room look bigger than it is - we booked the Grand Loft.

I wasn't impressed that they didn't take my money when I booked the room - that was stated on the hotels.com confirmation email - that they were supposed to take my money - not hotels.com. We could have avoided the many discussions which wasted my time on 2 days. Hotels.com told me that they should have taken the money when I booked. Because they didn't do that, I argued that it had been paid (as per my email stating this), wasted a few hours over this. Plus they accidentally took money from the wrong Visa - even though they refunded it straight away, I lost money on the exchange rate for that incorrect transaction. it was an experience I don't wish to repeat.

Overall average experience and a bit pricey for what you actually get out of it as a vacationer. Cleaning crew only comes once every three days. Breakfast was 20 euros per person even though we only wanted a croissant and coffee. The rooms are nice and as advertised and the upstairs area is cute. In retrospect, I probably would have preferred this hotel if I was just working or traveling alone rather than vacationing.

Loved it! I stayed in the regular loft and it was perfect. It had everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was perfect, the bed was super cozy, the lounge was great. I loved the whole concept of the place. The “lobby” was on the roof, and stepping out of the elevator you are met with plants and views of the city until you reach the inside work area. It’s open concept is super aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It doesn’t look like a lobby it looks like.. I don’t know but whatever it is, it’s nice and comforting. The staff are particularly helpful and cheery. Their attention to detail was incredible. When they found out that it was my birthday, they wrote me a card and gave me chocolates as a gift. That was a really nice gesture. Overall I loved it and would definitely return!

We had trouble finding accommodations in Amsterdam for six days, even for just our first night. It turned out it was the beginning of the King's Day celebrations, so we felt lucky when Expedia provided us with Zoku. The place is very hip, has a great rooftop garden/bar/restaurant, and features well-designed rooms with super-comfortable loft beds and kitchenettes. The downside was that the room was quite expensive; we paid about $400 a night with no breakfast (or parking) included. In addition, the AC/heating wasn't very efficient. Were the weather much warmer, it would have been uncomfortable, especially at night.

What a find. So easy to get to from the airport via train and metro, great place to work, stay and conduct business. Loads of meeting rooms and ad hoc spaces , inside and outside, all situated in a vibrant area for bars and restaurants. Won’t be staying anywhere else when in the Dam.

It was like living an a display apartment at Ikea, which I mean as a compliment, because I LOVE Ikea. So many touches were just exemplary: closets that light up when you open them. SO MANY CLOSETS. Comfortable bed. SO MANY TOWELS. The rooftop common area is literally heavenly. Gigantic shower with limitless hot water. The vibe is welcoming and inclusive. The only caveat is for people who are short, or have limited mobility, some things were high up. For instance, the microwave was above my head, I could reach it but could not see inside. Lifting out hot dishes was tricky. I'm 5'5\", and for someone shorter, that could be a problem. Climbing up and down the loft to bed was not a problem for me, but might be for someone with mobility issues. One weird thing; the lights were on a motion sensor, so if you get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, all the lights go on automatically. Overall I'd rate this hotel 9.5 out of 10.

Close to shopping but away from the really busy and noisy part of the city. The room is more like a small apartment. Some of the chairs had stains and weren't clean, but the rest of the apartment was fine. The loft portion, which had the bed, was comfortable and large. I had a hard time trying to find lodging that had only twin or double beds and Zoku's beds were large. It's like a WeWork but for hotels. Has all of the extras you need for a comfortable stay.

The hotel is really nice. Well connected to the rest of Amsterdam but far enough out of the Tourist areas if you want to avoid the crowds. The staff were friendly and helpful although they were a little short-staffed it felt. The room was small but perfectly formed, the \"City View\" turned out to be a carpark but we weren't there for the views. The roof Space is lovely with views across the whole of Amsterdam. We would def stay there again.

My favourite hotel in Europe

Just a beautifully designed room/apartment. Immaculate, with thoughtful touches such a compendium of board games - which we used. The rooftop terrace was wonderful - a pity it was raining when we were up there. I not only wanted to stay in Hotel Zoku again, I want to live there!

Amazing concept with bad management.

Zoku is an amazing concept hotel. The design is spectacular. If you long time like we did some things start bothering you. For instance, for two person bed they have a single person duvet. You need to fight for it at night. There is an always on air conditioning. It pumps air. If it gets too cold they provide you extra heater which is odd for such a modern hotel. Also the TV in the room is an old style TV. Hotels in these category has very nice smart TVs ie M Citizen hotels. Cleaning of the room is absolutely the worse of the hotel.

Will I ever stay again at Zoku. Yes. However it needs a bit better management.

A very nice place. Close enough to the centre to walk. Close to the metro. Across the street is a supermarket (Spar) and at 2 minutes walking distannce another one (Albert Heijn).
I liked it that in the kitchenette was a small bottle of olive oil, pepper and salt, something that is in other apartment hotels always missing.

Incredible stay at Zoku Amsterdam.

Absolutely love the concept of hybrid hotel/co-working space. We felt right at home in the community of guests that ranged from technology start ups to business travel to leisure guests. Our loft was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The location was incredible with both transit and walkability to everything you needed or wanted. The staff were there to help you with any questions and all were extremely proud of where they worked.

Zoku is a great experience that my wife and I truly enjoyed. The staff were always available and friendly. The building was unique with its rooftop bar and kitchen. The room was amazing with its layout and there was more space than you initially thought. When we left Zoku in Amsterdam, we instantly missed it!

The concept of this place is great!! Social space in the common areas and a plethora of plant based options at every meal! Plus the space is full of plants. Overall the vibe is invigorating, making it easy to do what you do!

I stayed in an XL Loft and the kitchen is well stocked with basic implements and some staples like tea, coffee, and olive oil. The bed is comfortable, and although not fancy the shower is one of the most functional I have come across in a trendier hotel. Plus the stairs to the loft are on rails and can be stowed in the wall, that’s just good fun!

Not a bad place in general. Rooms are nice, rooftop food is decent and locker room is a brilliant idea, but for the love of god I can’t understand why they have loudspeakers in the rooms with a fire alarm evacuating me every day/night. Fix that please.

I loved the young community- vibe they create, especially in the living kitchen. The staff are very friendly and the food was cooked tastefully, unlike regular typical hotel buffets. Zoku always has new fun stuff to do and the location is great - 8 min from city centre.

However, the cleanliness level was low. The loft I was assigned was not spotless when I arrived (water marks on kitchen counter, cigarette stain on coffee table, dirty plate with dried food gunk stuck on found in the cupboard, dirty hair dryer with stains and sticky marks on the wires and surface) i also ordered and paid for late check out but the electricity was cut off for 20 min that day.

I remember going to the Living Kitchen buffet and tried to find a clean plate. Out of 10 available, there were 7 with sauce stains (as it was yolk yellow in colour) despite the staff saying it was just normal wear and tear. I had to tell 2 staffs as the 1st one only said “that’s not good” and then just walked off without bringing any new plates back.

Also, they are not clear with their payment system. They don’t tell you this but a few days before your trip they will charge a deposit and you are expected to pay the full bill upfront when you first arrive to check in. Luckily, their helpful hotel staff responds to emails quickly.

All in all, great ppl, ok amenities. The low cleanliness level/ lack of professional cleaning staff made me feel like this is a high class college dorm rather than service apartment.

Unique was having your own functional studio, complete with modest cooking ability and a really cozy and large comfortable bed in a great & safe location. Close to everything in Amsterdam!, The place is beautiful too & the common spaces were great places, potentially, to hang & meet others (I was hoping for more of this) but local visitors really took over the space more often than not & the staff did nog encourage lodgers to connect in any way; they could have. Staff when approached were really responsive. If not proactive, laundry facility needs improvement, I really enjoyed my stay! It’s a new concept with great potential / just don’t expect the service of a hotel. You’re on your own (good!) it’s more like renting an apartment with folks accessible.
