This hotel was really good!! The staff were the standouts. Everyone was friendly, helpful and always willing to give suggestions.

I do think cleaning could be a bit better, our room was dusty and the bathroom had mildew stains but nothing that was detrimental to our stay.

Location was perfect. As multiple tram lines are nearby.

We liked the hotel overall. Felt a little dated in some spots. for the most part, room was clean but i found leftover food in fridge and a scrunchie by the bed.

Tough to take a shower because it was not set up properly. Entire bathroom flooded unless shower head was detached and held in your hand the whole time but even then a lot of water sprayed out. Bathroom floor was not mopped up properly and we went through a lot of towels trying to mop up ourselves after showering. Flat sheets did not stay on the bed at all. We were not advised of hotel fee when we checked in, nor were we advised that the fridge in the room was motion sensitive and becuase we shifted things around to fit in a few things we purchased, they were going to charge us for beverages we did not consume. That was rectified at checkout fortunately. Having said that, staff were very pleasant overall and we liked the location inside the park though the location was quite far from many attractions we wanted to visit.

Gorgeous property with helpful, friendly staff.

The hotel is very beautiful and the staff are polite and friendly. The property is beautifully situated next to a park, and well connected to public transportation. Grocery stores, pharmacies and places to eat are within 10 minutes walk. Note that the rooms are not identical; you may see the pictures of a particular room but your room may not look like that.

I was surprised the hotel is four stars hotel. I've booked for family with 5 people and was told at check-in that room is not for 5 and they blamed for Expedia. However I finally got a family room and more surprise when I opened the door which room was not setup, the second bed without cover, no pillows, not blanket. We had to wait for additional hour for them to find and set up second and third bed and at the end they did not even provide the blanket for queen bed, they gave us two single (twin) blankets. Another interesting thing, the hallway lead to our room, hotel staffs used as laundry stuffs area which I've never seen this in my life.

To be fair for this hotel, it's quiet location, walkable to tram station. But I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Lovely hotel with polite staff, in a scenic and quiet location. The room was clean and large. The bathroom was lovely, however the glass wall/glass door was see through and did not lock allowing for no privacy when showering, going to the toilet or having a bath. It was a rather unusual experience.

In addition, there was a hidden €50 per night deposit fee that was not highlighted in the booking process.

The luggage storage was extremely convenient.

Hotel Arena is such a beautiful mix of old and new, the building has so much character, but everything feels modern and comfortable. The location next to Oosterpark is peaceful, and it’s still easy to get to the city center. The staff were super friendly, and the restaurant was a great surprise. I’d definitely stay here again.

The building has an amazing history and a group of talented architects have made sure that its renovation has preserved its character and the unique traces left behind by the many people who were here before us while providing all the creature comforts we expect.

The generous size of the room would have impressed every colleague who has had to live in a studio apartment in downtown San Francisco and it made for a zen experience.

One possible exception to the excellent overall design that we struggled with was the decision to use a vast black glass wall to “separate” the bathroom from the living room. Once the lights went on, the ‘stage’ experience was unnerving.

The hotel grounds blend effortlessly with the park and they invite you to explore and enjoy no matter the weather.

The winter garden aka hotel restaurant was delightful, the service impeccable, and the menu, while somewhat limited, was clearly created with a lot of forethought as to the local ingredients and flavors.

Suggestions for the management:
- the use of AI-assistants to aid in passing information to Housekeeping and Front Desk staff was well implemented.
Perhaps the bots could go a step further and make suggestions to their human colleagues as to the possible implications of newly received information, I.e. people arriving at midnight might appreciate a little help with their luggage up the winding, dark steps out front.

The cleaners however spilt over a juice in my room and did not properly clean it, left liquid all where i was charging/keeping my electronics! They also took one of our key cards after a clean?? There was also a dent in the floor in my room. Apart from both incidents with the cleaners, would stay again.

Had a lovely stay in Hotel Arena for a 3-day getaway in March. The hotel was impeccably maintained and staff were helpful and friendly (breakfast was good too!) The room felt spacious with the split-level design and the bed was enormous. It's a shame we only had 2 nights and would definitely consider it as my first choice for a stay if I return to Amsterdam.

Lovely hotel but hardly any housekeeping

We really like this beautiful and unique hotel. It’s a great location and a very atmospheric building. But there is one issue: We stayed 6 nights and our room was cleaned once. We had to chase down housekeeping to get clean towels and toilet paper. It’s not acceptable for a such a nice hotel. It seems they don’t have enough staff for housekeeping. Please address this. We stayed several years before and had the same issue.

Left hair conditioner out to be replenished and empty bottle left in exactly same place. Night stands were dirty and sticky upon arrival and I had to clean marks off them myself!!!!

I have never been to a 2-star hotel as bad as this one, forget a 4-star one. To start off we were put in a room that had accessibility issues (after knowing we had a small baby with us), when we asked to move the front desk moved us to another one. Conveniently leaving out the info that the room had scaffolding outside, people were working on the scaffolds and because of that the windows hadn’t been opened in days making the entire room musty. We were then moved to another room which worked or so we thought.
We called the concierge letting them know the fridge wasn’t working, they sent someone who apparently thought two adults have never used a fridge before because she kept insisting that’s how cool this fridge ever got even after we told her we’d been to two other rooms in the hotel and had no issues with the fridge. Finally a maintenance person came and realised the fridge wasn’t connected to the right power source! For a so called 4-star hotel the service was atrocious. We left signs asking for the room to be cleaned at 10AM and when we came back to the room at 2.30PM it was still unclean. We’d asked for something to be stored in the freezer specifically for the baby, but it was left in the fridge overnight making it useless. The worst part was the front desk saying I should take it up with however I spoke to the previous evening. Even overlooking all this there isn’t much to do around the area, the park is a nice place to spend time but that’s about it.

A rare and beautiful gem, this hotel is literally integrated into a huge and beautiful park as their back yard. There is convenient bike rental (at the hotel—expensive, or 1/2 block away using Donkey Republic). The interior is artfully designed and beautiful, with rotating artist selections throughout. The staff is extremely accommodating. Just a superb property I can only hope to visit yet again.

I liked the big windows, and the character of the building. The ceilings were delightful. The shower/bathroom area is made from clear glass and one way glass.. there is 0 privacy to shower or use the toilet. I dont love my husband's silhouette when hes using the toilet. Employees seemed a bit put out when asked for anything. Seems like they believe if they keep telling you its a very nice hotel, it will become one.

The first impression was not great as the guy on reception was unhelpful and unfriendly. We stayed 2 nights and the staff at the restaurant on the first night were excellent. Unfortunately, the staff at the restaurant on the second night were disinterested in serving us and we had great difficulty getting our meal.
The room was spacious and well equipped. We found the hotel to be very expensive for what you get.
We found the hotel very difficult to navigate at first and a map would have been very useful when we checked in.
This is not your average chain hotel.

Very nice hotel adjacent to a quiet park, just not four star quality. Both service and the rooms just didn’t rise to the occasion. Front desk staff did not go out of their way to great staff, make eye contact, or even speak to guests unless prompted. Although our bed was very comfortable our room contained cheap scratchy towels, scratchy toilet paper, and was not clean (layers of dust and cobwebs). The rooms were also an example of form over function: steep staircase with no railing; shower head positioned too close to the wall to shower comfortably, loose sink faucet sprayed water on the coonter, swing mirror positioned too close to toilet to avoid hitting, and paper thin walls mean you can here whatever happens in the hallway. Overall the hotel is not a bad place to stay. We enjoyed the well appointed entry way, delicious dinner at the restaurant, and found the renovated catholic orphanage to be beautiful. The restaurant and cleaning staff were friendly. It just didn’t meet what we expected from a four star property and don’t believe it should be advertised as such.

I'd recommend you to stay somewhere else in Amsterdam. It's cheaper, nicer and closer to everything.

For us not worth the value. The bathroom situation was pretty bad because it is only a box IN the bedroom with no noise or light barrier. For us this was inconvenient but the hotel could do nothing about changing our room. Staff was professional but not very friendly or empathetic. Ridiculously over-priced for their bike rentals. Being on the park was nice but there were not restaurants or shops near by. It would have been nice if they could lend out rackets to use in the tennis court in the park which they prominently show on their website.

The Arena Hotel was a gem! Originally, the building was an orphanage, but it had been very skillfully and artfully refurbished. The modernizations were interwoven with elements of the original building. Each room was different. Our little suite had a circular bedroom with an impossibly high ceiling.

There was a very extensive public park right in front of the hotel, with a large pond. It was a wonderful place for a stroll. We loved our stay.

The park in the front is beautiful but the hotel has a lot to work on. The check in is incredibly long and impractical if you're tired and you want to go to bed. The towels are extremely worn and the quilt cover was torn with a10 cm hole in it. Definitely far from the quality that I would expect for the stars in this hotel. The blinds in the room were broken and it was something you don't want to deal with if you spent a lot of time trying to check in in a tablet that is asking for too much information. The cherry in the top was that the safe didn't work either. So no, I would not recommend this hotel.

Hotel Arena is a beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood near a large park. It was convenient and easy to get to on the tram lines, 1, 4, 7, 14 and 19 making it a quick hop into some of the busier areas, but quiet enough for a good night sleep. Plenty of food and beverage options nearby as well. Property was well-appointed and had luggage lockers available for guests post-checkout, so we could make the most of our time in Amsterdam. Would absolutely stay there again!

We also found fruits under the fridge and the glass toilet is a terrible idea to have your partner looking at you when you go to the toilet. Also there is no glass or curtains in shower so you wet the entire bathroom. Cleaning guy every morning outside in the corridor whistling every morning waking us up. Corridor a bit noisy.

This hotel is amazing! Quiet, simple and accessible. We loved our stay so much!

Bed and pillows were so comfy and great free tea and coffees!

The park was a bonus for our last night, just grabbed food at the grocery AH and enjoyed the park.
