The staff were friendly and helpful.

A good location, not too far from anywhere and well sited for trams.

Was a bit tired decor wise.

Family room worked well but could have done with more independent lighting options in 2nd bedroom to allow for bedtime reading not using the main lights.

It was cold. Moreover when you Winter the batrom on the right there was White atudf on the wood After 2 data still there.
I had cookie bag on night stand so crums noone cleaned It.
So cleaning not good.

Lovely staff, great location, well appointed duplex room.

BUT - terribly noisy. Our room was on the entrance floor level in the old building. The wall parallel to the corridor, across the width of the room, was made of glass and plywood with blackout curtains over it. The corridor floor was wood. Every time somebody rolled their case down the corridor the noise reverberated through the room. Each set of people walking along the corridor in heels created more noise. When doors slammed closed the plywood wall shook. Saturday night the noise was beyond belief, couldn't get any sleep until 3am. Then we were woken up by the people checking out before breakfast.

The location of the hotel was quite convenient, with a tram stop right across the road making it very easy to get around the city. However, there weren’t many local shops nearby, as most amenities were on the other side of the city centre. Thankfully, the tram made travelling simple and straightforward.

The staff were the highlight of the stay – really friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They couldn’t have been nicer, and their service was excellent.

That said, the hotel itself needs some serious refurbishment. It is advertised as a 4-star, but in reality, I would rate it more like a 3-star. The cleanliness was disappointing – there was dust on the phone and lamps, hairs on the bed and in the bathroom, and the floor did not feel properly cleaned. The paint was peeling from the walls, which added to the tired feel of the place.

On the positive side, the room size was adequate for our needs, but overall, the property would benefit greatly from a refresh and more attention to cleaning standards.

Breakfast was really good. I use a walker and its around 8 steep steps to get into the Hotel. All the reception workers watched me struggle to carry my walker upstairs until the very last night a worker informed me there was a handy cap entrance that I could have used that went straight to the elevator, very sad to be treated like this with a disability.

Overall it's a great place to stay. It is a bit off of city center so it's a bit quieter but there is a tram and bus stop right outside of the hotel which was very convenient. If I have any complaints at all it would be:
1) That we weren't informed that we had to inser out toom key into the slot just inside of the door to turn on the room's electricity and it drove me crazy trying to figure that out.
2) Not sure if all the rooms are like this but the lighting in the room was horrible. A sloped ceiling had can lights in it facing the bed and when they were turned on they blinded you. There was also no way to read at night dince there was no bedside lighting to speak of.

Other than than a very nice hotel.

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of the city.
Staff are always super helpful and warm and friendly.
The number 14 tram stop is right outside. Tram ride from Centraal Station takes about 15 minutes.
We have stayed at Quentin Zoo Hotel 3 times in the last 4 years and will be staying there again, next time we are in Amsterdam.

The staff was very friendly (5 stars) but the room was in a bad need of remodeling/updating. Bathroom tiles looked like they were about to fall off, all door handles did fall off, the hardwood floor was very worn out. This is nowhere near a 4 star accommodation, it feels like a hostel with a very expensive price of ~400 Euro per night. Much was made in the reviews about the breakfast, but again it was a very basic but expensive fare. One can get much better breakfast within 1 min walking distance for much less.

Not friendly for solo traveler

I was staying in a wired layout room. Half of the windows above the bed was facing the hallway, which, if the curtain wasn't completely attached the window (which was not possible without any tools), there was a chance that from the outside you could sneak-peak little part of the bed. I feel insecure as a solo traveler staying in that kind of room. Additionally, there was a door hidden behind another big curtain. When first seeing that door, I went down to ask reception if that was a door connected to another room because I wanted to ensure no one would break in from that door. However, the reception guy said he doesn't know how is every room look like, maybe that is a door to the balcony which you could access by your room card. The information he provided was clearly wrong. There was no balcony connected to the room, and the card doesn't open the door (I would be more terrified if it does.) The whole night I was worried about being seen from the windows and what if someone breaks in from the door behind the curtain. It was not a good experience as a solo traveler. I felt very insecure. And the reception should know the layout of the room. He didn't even know if there is a bath tub in the room or not, very unprofessional.
Additionally, unfortunately one of the elevator was not functional.

Nice enough but overpriced

Hotel appears reasonably well maintained but wasn't worth the price. Could have been better with cleaning. Sink wasn't clean when we arrived and the cleaning regime during our stay appeared to be nothing more than changing towels and toilet roll. Staff were nice and the location is decent.

Short break to Amsterdam

Stayed here for 2 nights, location good with the tram to the city centre right outside. Some great cafes and deli’s on the doorstep.

Stayed at Quentin Zoo hotel for 3 nights while visiting Amsterdam. It is an older building that has seen some recent refurbishment but appears to be done on a budget. We booked the basic room which was clean, but small and dark with harsh overhead spotlights. The room was clean, quiet and the bed comfortable. Breakfast in the hotel was a nice little buffet with the usual options. Staff was nice and helpful with questions. There is a very convenient tram stop right out in front, but the weather was nice and we made the 30 minute walk to the center of Amsterdam most days. The area seemed very safe and there are a few bars/restaurants nearby. If you are budget conscience and don't need a lot of amenities, this would be a good choice for your stay. It worked well for us and we saved a lot of money compared to other hotels in Amsterdam.

A very quirky, colorful hotel with great staff.

A bit away from the main area of Amsterdam, but with so much going on it was nice to be a bit away from the action. Only about a 10 minute walk to the main street.

What made this place great was the staff, namely Amine. He was very helpful and pleasant.

The rooms were large, bathroom was clean.

If you looked in cracks and crevasses (especially the windowsils) it was a bit dirty/dusty, but for an older place it wasn't a big deal.(Bed, bathroom, etc. was clean). The walls and windows are quite thin, as you can hear absolutely everything in your hallway and outside on the streets. It made it harder to sleep at times but if you dont have issues sleeping with noise then it will be fine!

Quentin Zoo hotel was ideal for us - affordable, a good distance from the centre (walkable is a tram right outside), in a nice neighbourhood with restaurant, cafe, coffee shop & supermarket within 10 mins walk. The staff were friendly, the room was really nice & modern, everything worked & it was comfortable - no complaints at all here. We slept soundly and had a perfect base for 5 days in the city!

Quentin Zoo is what I would call a good European-style hotel. Rooms are unique. It is not a cookie cutter property. The AC we had in the rooms was very good and better than many European-styled hotels. The area is in a more residential and out-of-the way area in Amsterdam, but there is a tram stop right in front that can take you to the Amsterdam city center in 10 minutes. It is a minimalist property so if you must have typically western hotel style accommodations you should probably look to a western style hotel. Otherwise, it is a neat, quirky place to stay. Some rooms are dual-leveled and have a narrow, steep staircase between levels. If that sounds dangerous to you go elsewhere, otherwise enjoy this unique hotel. If you plan to have a day at the zoo in Amsterdam, this is a great location. One downside is lack of convenience stores within a short distance of the hotel. You'll have to take a tram or walk more than 10 minutes away for that. Pro is that there are several nice neighborhood restaurants within a few minutes.

The room is not really room. I felt that they used the storage room to make out a room for customer. Even no place for hanging clothes. The clothes must hang up on coffee machine place. They offer breakfast from 8 am but we had day tour need to go out at 7:30 am they even no food for us to take out. So we paid 2 days breakfast but not even have one bread. The staffs are ok but the facilities was bad.

We stayed in amsterdamn for theee nights the hotel was perfect away from the noise on the main drag, but our little street had food bars and nightlife, we walked everywhere from the hotel everything was within 15-20 min walk..we had a room for 4 plenty of space and a little patio to people watch

Generally good hotel for families. The room had a tiny bathroom with the sink in the living area (never seen this before!) but this is a minor issue. Overall, very pleased with the accommodation which was very clean. The front desk staff were excellent. The area is okay and about twenty minutes away from the centre. The tram is just outside the hotel but we never bothered with it. The only real let down was the breakfast which was pretty basic on the hot food side (boiled eggs and frankfurter) but we got used to it by the second day and settled for a croissant and a machine coffee. Thanks for looking after us.

This was my first time in Amsterdam and this hotel was amazing. Such a lovely room we had, nice modern decor, fab value for money, the staff were amazing - friendly and always happy to help. And the hotel is in such a good location. It’s a nice walk going into the centre and it’s right by transport links. Would definitely come back. We all loved it. Good location in the Artis district, easy access via tram. The hotel itself was quite disappointing: it was very noisy, not only because of the proximity to the tram tracks, but also because of ongoing construction next door which we were not informed about (work started at 7:30 am). There was also an incident that we felt was not properly handled by the hotel management. It put a damper on our stay. The hotel is overpriced for the type of service and amenities it offers.

The hotel seemed clean although when we had our room made up during our stay they didn’t take away/replace the used coffee mugs so we could have fresh for the next morning. The bed was very comfy and the room was modern and stylish although the walls had obvious scuff and scrape marks which needed repainting. The shower had a rainfall shower head and a smaller more powerful spray attachment. The rainfall shower was disappointing as half the waterholes didn’t work so it wasn’t powerful enough for getting the shampoo out of your hair.
The location is nice, it has the tram stop right outside the front however the windows are not very sound proof and you can hear the trams go past constantly (and the bells the tram rings.) you can also hear noisy people in the street. The door to the hotel room doesn’t seem very sound proof either and I was kept awake through the night by noisy people going back to their rooms and the doors slamming.

We were on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet. Several nice local bars nearby, and of course the zoo is just around the corner! Will definitely stay at Quentin Zoo Hotel again.

EVERYTHING BUT THE...

Great location and beautiful room. The staff was very friendly. There's no parking available and the nearby parking garage changes 63.00€ per day. They'll give you a breakfast voucher for the restaurant next door, and the breakfast was great! The room had large bay windows and a sitting porch attached. I'd highly recommend this place. The only thing I'd change is the cost of drinks downstairs in the receptionist area. Paying 2.50€ for a small soft drink is ridiculous.

It’s a lovely modern decorated building with quirky features. Staff were amazing after Expedia messed up and over booked the original hotel we were upgraded to here . Abysmal property that is unsafe. There is a radiator literally in the stairwell. The narrow stairs are not the biggest problem; the hot radiator one can burn themselves on, in the narrow stairwell, is a safety concern.

Railing on top floor, and in stairwell, is wide enough for child to fit through. This is another safety concern to most people.

Apparently, safety is not a concern of the hotel though. Our family was refused a safe room, the option to move to another Quentin hotel, or refund for remaining unused nights.

Hotel front desk said it must be sorted with Expedia and Expedia said hotel decides. I simply wanted a safe room for my family. The room we were given seemed a far stretch from the photographs on Expedia. This property felt more like a hostel or dorm. Save yourself the worry and just go to Ibis.

This was in a good location for a reasonable price. I really liked that the street car stop was in front of the hotel and made it easy to get around. Amsterdam is not my favorite town in Europe and this hotel was a great place to relax and get away from it all.

Hotel has great location, right across from tram line 14 that takes you to central amsterdam in 10mins. You can also walk which is great and takes about 25mins. This is probably the ONLY positive thing I can give this hotel.

They gave us a
Room on the -1 floor that very small and looked nothing like the pictures. Had a window facing the street which made it feel unsafe, not to mention how noisy it was. I know Housekeeping staff need to start their chores early but there’s no need to constantly bang doors starting 7am as they do their things.

Staff are nice but they take their sweet time to respond (especially at front desk as there’s a bell to ring when you need assistance).
