Decent value for an hotel in Amsterdam and a situated in a convenient location in De Pijp, with several nearby tram stops and a Lidl close by.

The room itself was functional but could benefit from some attention. The bed felt a little uneven, the shower drained rather slowly, and there were scuff marks on the walls along with some dust around the top of the door frame. The television was positioned facing away from the bed, there was no headboard, and the hand lotion dispenser appeared to leak.

Overall, the location and price are the main strengths, though the room’s condition could be improved.

Room was good if you it’s just you and you don’t plan on doing anything but sleep. Front desk was helpful and room was clean. Space and s very small so be wary. Felt very face as they lock the door after 8 and need a room key to get back in. Perfect location right by two main tram stations. Would definitely stay again.

The two staff members on the day we arrived were very helpful and gave details about the neighbourhood. The room has a kettle and even a mini fridge. It'd be great if there were a shower curtain around the shower. The hotel is close to a large street market where you can find homemade cheese and have choices of a variety of foods and small goods.

AVOID, nothing was right with this hotel. It’s dirty and unsafe. The bathrooms floods and is mouldy. the fridge does not work. The wall and floors are filthy, the mattress is disgusting. The towel was stained. Are electric in the bathroom was not working and we then told them. They only fixed it the next night so was unable to use the shower till then.(which was the night before we left). The hall was ceiling was flooring down and there was wires hanging out of light fittings.
It was awful. On return. I have asked for a refund which I am told no. I don’t no why I use Expedia when they take no responsibility for advertising hotel not safe nor fit for purpose.

Well, the room was not what we requested. And please note, the room was not clean!!!! There were stains on the bed covers, the shower is just disgusting with black mold on the ceiling and the room was so small. This is one step above a hostel. Don’t expect much. Oh and we didn’t do anything to the room, but got an additional charge of $111 and I reached out to the reception to see why, because we never got any info or receipt from this charge, and they never responded.

Area is very good and easy to get about via tram. If you need water or food there is a Lidl across the road which is handy.
Check in was easy as we landed late and on the day they give you a code to some key safes by the door. Major downside for me was they charge you €150 deposit before you arrive which is very cheeky! I've never had this at any hotel I've ever stayed in and as we were on a budget as it was this cut into our spending money and I wish it was clearer before at the time of booking because I would have looked elsewhere. I will say I did get it refunded back to my card that evening I checked out so didn't have to wait long to get it back but even still that's taking the Mick. The room.was very small but that was fine for us and the toilet was inside the shower but again that was fine. It was very very hot in the room and you can barely open the window and no fan was provided which would have made our nights sleep more comfortable.
Overall I wouldn't stay again but the area is good and safe and the check in and out process was easy at least.

What a horrible experience. The Hotel Max should be called the Hotel Bare Minimum. The clerk could barely speak English & had no interest in being helpful. Other than a poorly cleaned / maintained coffee machine there are no amenities whatsoever. There is no elevator & the stairs are small and steep. The double room literally barely fits the double bed & a tiny table with no chairs. There is zero storage for clothes or anything else. The lack of air conditioning would make it very uncomfortable above 27C. But the most bizarre & negative aspect to the room is the toilet being actually located in the shower. The shower head mount was old and hung the shower head uselessly. My request to have the shower head mount repaired was completely ignored. We terminated our stay after 1 night and absorbed the cost of the 2 additional nights to find another place to stay. We found the Catalonia and it was the best decision we have ever made.

Extra 150€ warranty deposit of what we had no idea. Also paid 4 different payments. City taxes, early check-in (25€), warranty deposit and rest of The room pay. No idea why these werent able to paid at once.

Room was very small and narrow. Shower head was in so bad condition that water came out as one big stream. Low pressure as well so I wasnt able to put shower head on its Holder and I had to keep it on my hand.

We booked twin beds and discovered that beds are not normal single beds as they are daybed! which are narrower and couldn’t able to sit on a chair as it was hard folder chair, I booked thought saw the size of the room was advertised on the hotel.com was more bigger for me and my client that we agreed booked due of the room size actually the bedroom was like are a box room also toilet in the shower! Not comfortable for us basically. Breakfast is okay and poor information when arrival al as can’t hear at the doorbell. I all was told to that Hotel Max & was annoyed had to walk few more up the road to same company of the hotel so has to visit the sister hotel to give me the cards for access the room by going back - Wi-Fi is very poor and was unable for me to use it as it’s too risky for my devices so didn’t used them it was a cheat as it was a not proper Wi-Fi wasn’t impressed ( poor access to Wi-Fi & it is not safe to use) it’s easy for hackers to access that system - not impressed at that the hotel didn’t provide the kettle & cups at all, I was so disappointed with the hotel, apart of the poor in the hotel all I can say that location is good

The hotel was close walking distance to many attractions of Amsterdam but far enough away that the evenings were quiet without the part atmosphere of downtown. Close to transportation good restaurants that were more reasonably priced than downtown and close to the street market for a little colour. We felt we had a good sense of the culture of Amsterdam staying here. My only concern was that the room was very small, but we only slept there.

Good value in an interesting neighborhood

Comfortable basic hotel. The attic room had enough space for a family of four. Beds were clean and comfortable, if a bit narrow. Main downside of the room was a musty smell in the shower, which was clean in spite of this. Small garden but the sister hotel (Iris a few blocks away), where you can have a nice breakfast, had a really nice larger garden.
Location is a little distance from major attractions but this limits nearby tourist traps and crowds and gives a low key atmosphere. There are plenty of good dining options within 10 minutes and a nice park about 10 minutes away.

My husband and I were in Amsterdam on a business trip. We booked the Hotel Max last minute affordably and we were not disappointed. Its not necessarily close to the station, but only about a 15-20 min walk away. It was right by De Pijp which has many great bars & restaurants. The girl at the front desk was very nice & helpful. The room was what you expect for $60 close to the center of Amsterdam. Small, just enough to fit in a full size bed, small closet for storage, sink w/ a mirror (a bit cramped but at least it had one) and a privet toilet & shower (which are hard to come by for that cheap in such a big/old city). All in all in was comfortable, affordable & in a good location. We would go back.

It was a small and functional hotel, in a good location considering the price. The toilet is really tiny however, and you cannot have too much luggage as there really isn't much space for anything more than the bed and perhaps one piece of luggage. It's good value for the price, but don't expect anything more than a place to sleep!

Renovations going on at Hotel Max so we had to check in at Hotel Iris, not an issue as it was only 5minutes over the bridge.
Staff were pleasant and friendly.
Stayed at Hotel Max for 3ngts. Basic hotel but that reflects in price
Room was cleaned daily and fresh towels left.
We stayed in room 16 which was on the very top floor, not easy carting cases up 4flights of stairs. We were lucky enough to have one of the builders give us a helping hand.
No complaints, would stay here again. :-)

VERY tiny room with a damp/ mouldy smell (they put an electric air freshener in to mask smell). Uncomfortable beds, with a shower that didn't really get hot along with the bathroom door not being able to close. Short bike ride from centre of Amsterdam in a quieter location. Wifi didn't work in our room. I believe too overpriced for what was received. Wouldn't recommend. However, reception is being renovated so check in/check out is at hotel Iris down the street, the reception staff there are extremely friendly, kind and helpful.

Look for another hotel

I turned up at 5:00pm to find the place closed. After 10mins knocking at the door a person walking along the footpath told me to go to Hotel Iris as they are the same hotel. He was right, you have to use the other place as reception. Shame they couldn't leave a sign on the door telling you what to do. The room is very bare and small. Breakfast was good but if you wanted a Tea bag it cost you extra. Not exactly close to the city centre. Will definitely stay somewhere else next time.

This past summer I stayed at the Iris. The Iris was booked so I booked the sister hotel \"The Max\". On Thursday evening when I returned to my room, I found the door to my room open. There was a cleaning tool in the bathroom. Looked like something to take water off tiles. NOTHING was missing from my belongings. Perhaps the staff was called away. I reported the incident to the Iris office the following morning. The cleaning tool was still in the bathroom when I checked out on Sun. I had a lap top, an I pad and a 35 mm camera in my room. Had they been missing who would have covered the loss?

There is a €20 key/remote control deposit that you don't find out about until you there. We were given a room in the basement, across from the dining room. When you walk into the room it appears that you are actually walking into the bathroom when entering the room. The room was very noisy in the morning with prep for breakfast and guests in the dining room. No toiletries in the room. Shower is sloped incorrectly so there is a squeegee in the shower to push the water to the drain. The toilet is in the shower. The beds are very uncomfortable. The bedding is a fitted sheet and a comforter. The bedding is very old, scratchy and full of holes. Cracks in the wall. There was a hole in the wall that had paper towel stuffed in it. Came into the reception area one night around 9:00pm to the smell of cigarette smoke after having to sign a contract as a guest not to smoke in the hotel. Listened to the front desk worker’s TV show from our room. No maid service at all. One towel per person for the stay. Only electrical outlets in the room are above the bed which makes it very difficult to charge electronics over night. The place looks dirty. The room was dirty when we arrived. The toilet had not been flushed. Room smelled of cigarette smoke from someone smoking outside. When other guests enter the dining room it sounds like someone is entering our room. Black mold in the shower. Lower flush on toilet did not work
Would like to give it a lower rating that all 1 but that is not available

A manutenção do hotel é muito bacana, o principal ponto negativo é o espaço do quarto (característico de amsterdam) e o acesso via escadas.

O quarto não tem muito espaço para disposição de malas e para andar e se arrumar, além disso, o acesso de dois lances de escadas para o hotel, sem um elevador é um ponto extremamente complicado, tanto para subir malas, como acesso após exaustivos dias de passeios e principalmente para idosos que queiram conhecer a cidade.

Apesar disso, a localização dispõe de mercado próximo e próximo de transporte público. Além de estar em um bar bem animado no período noturno.

The towels had holes in them and stains from previous occupants. The shower overflowed as the drain was clogged. The toilet had the silikon holding it to the wall nearly half gone and the toilet bent downwards by even looking at it funny. The beds were not clean. The floor was carpeted all over even infront of the shower door which led to it becoming wet, soggy and cold. The location was ok as the trams are just outside the hotel.

Great location, friendly staff, cheap price and very close to Frederiksplein and the beautiful old town! :-) LIDL just opposite. The room was really small and you could hear the other guests but if you bring earplugs, it should be fine. :-)

Excelente opción en Ámsterdam

La estadía fue excelente. Llegamos después del horario de recepción pero pudimos hacer self Check-in con la información que nos brindaron. La habitación es tal cual se describe. Hay pava eléctrica para prepararse café o té y una máquina de café en la recepción que también se podía utilizar.
Está muy bien ubicado sea en medio de transporte o caminando al centro.
