A comfortable and spacious room by Parisian standards. The hotel is very small without the facilities of larger establishments but the room was comfortably equipped, the bathroom spacious and the location excellent. The reception staff were polite and helpful.
Older people with limited mobility might find it challenging climbing into the deep bath to use the shower.

We stayed at Hotel Saint Germain in july 2025,and had a pleasant experience overall. The building itself is a bit dated and has a boutique feel with only 12 rooms, but our room was quite comfortable and cozy.

The location is excellent – there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and it’s close to the metro as well as the Bon Marché supermarket, which was very convenient.

Breakfast was continental, with a decent variety of pastries, breads, and coffee. Eggs could be cooked on request, which was a nice touch.

The standout feature was the staff – everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really made a difference during our stay.

Overall, a charming little hotel in a great location, perfect for travelers who appreciate a quieter, more personal atmosphere.

It's over a subway so it does rumble. The particular block it's on had a few homeless people. The room is weird: why have glass doors to the bathroom that require a curtain that causes another step to close? Who wants to have glass doors for the toilet so people in the room can see you?

This is a very small hotel with just two rooms per floor and a very small elavator. My room was big but kind of old with a decent-size bath tub but small shower space. If you are looking for a boutique hotel in 6th Arrondisement, this might be for you. If you like modern, it is not.

The hotel was lovely and in a reasonable location. Close to Le Bon Marché & La Grande Epicerie De Paris. The rooms were modern a clean but you still felt like you were in Paris. The staff were absolutely lovely and went above & beyond to make sure we were looked after during our stay. My only negative would be that you could hear the subway trains at night and early morning, it’s wasn’t too loud but definitely audible.

Quick stay in Paris

I booked my stay in this hotel for 4 nights and ended up staying one. I did extensive research before booking this hotel, with two of the main conditions being it was at least a 4-star hotel with reviews of 8 or higher. This had both of those when I was doing my research and seemed to be in a great area. This was at most a 3-star hotel. The reception area was cramped and the elevator was only big enough for 2 people realistically without luggage. When I got to the floor I was staying on it was another cramped area with 2 doors. It didn't get much better inside the room either, which was small even though I got one of the biggest rooms. I would expect a 4-star hotel to have at least a queen bed and the room only had a double bed. The furniture was cheap and chipped. Overall it was just not up to my standards.

Best Location and best service. The staff is really helpful, efficient and charming. Rooms were very well cleaned and bright. Location is perfect if you want to stay near Le Bon Marche and few min walk close to Saint Germain, and the area is quiet. The hotel design is functional, a bit cold/swedish to my taste but that is really not an issue. Towels and amenities are of good standard, and the beds are extremely comfortable. We will definitely consider coming back as it was perfect for couple with young kid.

A petite smart hotel in upscale area

We were given a warm welcome and special attention as it was Sunday and we brought a picnic to the hotel where the staff arranged table ware and glasses for us to enjoy.
The area of the hotel is perfect, as there is a multitude of old world shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy within minutes of the entrance.St Germain De Pre is a dream especially at night where you feel safe wondering and enjoying the cafe culture.
My tip is to just walk,walk and walk some more as Paris is a condensed city with each exciting landmark not too far from each other.The Metro is easy to navigate if your a little weary.

This is the first hotel for which I had to read the definition of four stars: It is small, with maybe 10-15 rooms overall. Reception is very helpful, but sometimes there is only one attendant and you need to give your metal key every time you leave the room. Sometimes the attendant locks the whole hotel for a few minutes if he is busy somewhere else. I booked a junior suite, but I found it small, while the bathroom is huge. There is a bathrobe but no slippers and bathroom lights were not all functioning. There is a bathtub, not well insulated, so if you take a shower, the bathroom floor is guaranteed to get wet. TV channel reception was erratic, so I was able to watch a whole movie on TF1 but was unable to complete a program on the same channel two days prior. WiFi was perfect until the last day when I woke up early to go to the airport and had very poor connection. On the positive side, the bed is very comfortable, the room is quiet and there is a DVD player. There is also very nice carpeting with a large stain in the middle. Too many imperfections given the cost!

Great location for foodies and shoppers. Two key metro stations are in close walking distance which allows for quick navigation through the city to other happening spots. The hotel was spacious, and offered a boutique feel. We were addressed by our name as we entered and exited the property. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with getting tours, dinner reservations and directions. They even negotiated pricing on our behalf, which was a huge help and savings.

From the moment we arrived at Le Placide, my wife and I were treated like royalty. The hotel is so charming and, to us, could not have provided a better backdrop for our first experience of Paris!

Special Thank You's the FIRST CLASS STAFF of La Placide: Sam, Christoph, Fabien, Galley, and the gentleman whose name I can't remember (possible Simeon), but who took such good care of us at breakfast each and every morning.

Before our trip was through, we were already making plans to return late next spring, and can't imagine any place in all of Paris where we would receive such special, welcoming, and personal treatment as Le Placide.

This small, quaint hotel is FIRST CLASS all the way! Gentlemen, please have our room ready when we return!!!

Start to finish a great experience. Front desk was very helpful, courteous and professional.... they were always willing to assist us and spoke excellent English.... we wrote down the names of the two individuals that we had a great deal of interaction with but those names were lost in our travels... my apology for this as both the Director and his associate need to be recognized. The Hotel is less than a block from the Bon Marche' shopping center..... walking distance to the metro... not in a tourist area but walking distance to the Seine and the Tower... lots of good restaurants and shops.

Staff and accommodations were outstanding! The room was much much larger than expected compared to other Paris hotels we've booked, and all staff were super helpful and friendly. The bfast each day was fantastic and we had zero complaints about anything during this stay. The hotel neighborhood was safe and a good location for lots of things (shopping, food, restaurants, metro). As a note, we booked a family room for my husband, me, and our 10yo daughter and had plenty of room. Will definitely stay again next time we're in Paris.

Great hotel next to Le Bon Marche

The hotel is a great central place that is right next to Le Bon Marche--which is great for shoppers and foodies! I actually preferred the shopping at LBM as opposed to walking down Champs Élysées because it was raining for the majority of our stay in Paris. The hotel is a quick walk or short taxi ride to all major sites in Paris. The best part of the experience at Hotel Le Placide is the staff. They are warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and friendly (and very handsome). They even took the time to help with an item we lost on the train, handling the phone calls to the station so we wouldn't have to deal with it while enjoying Paris. I appreciate the staff and really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is très magnifique!!!

Wonderful stay, great location with shops and bakeries near by. Spacious room with beautiful balcony. Nice bed linens. Bathroom was well appointed with complimentary toiletries and big white towels. Our room had two balconies, one facing the front of the hotel and the other facing the back. We had a wonderful cross breeze when leaving both doors open. On our final evening we picked up some wine, Brie, crackers, French jam, and olives and had a lovely early evening birthday celebration on our balcony. Couldn't have asked for more. Staff was helpful and attentive, especially Samuel who was quick to set up a table for us every morning after we picked up breakfast at a bakery down the street. He was a one man show every day helping all the hotel guests with their every wish. Overall a great stay in this little boutique hotel. Really gave us a true feeling of being in Paris. Would highly recommend.

The hotel is in the heart of a fantastic part of the City. The shopping is first class and there were numerous bars/brassieres nearby. Our room had a small balcony so it was a delight to sit back with good wine and enjoy the ambience of St. Germain des pris.

Great hotel. Stayed in a Junior suite-27 meters which was very nice. My wife did not like so of the other hotels we stayed at as the rooms were 12-17 meters in nice. Felt like a breadbox but room was clean, spacious and staff were great in booking tours and restaurants for us.I don't know what the other rooms are like but definitely go with the junior suite if you can.

We received a warm reception our first night. I was initially surprised by the overall impression of the hotel, in particular the carpets. I thought they were dirty, my daughter thinks they were just old and had those odd marks often left when carpets are cleaned. In any event, that was my only complaint throughout our six day stay. Reception staff was always helpful, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was great. The room (Junior Suite, 4th fl) looks out on the street but there was no street noise oat night to disturb your sleep. All windows opened which is a big plus for me. It was a generous size.
Breakfast was included in our room rate and was a typical French buffet breakfast with bread, cheese, yogurt, cold meats, scrambled eggs, etc. The quality was excellent but don't expect the variety of the Easter buffet at the Hilton. Extra coffee was always available on request.
I said my only quibble was about the carpets - not quite true. We had two beds pushed together to make one or two beds as the case may be. If you are using them as singles, they are narrowl, but unless you flail about a lot you quickly get used to them.
Location was excellent - 1/2 block from Le Bon Marche, 2 blocks from Sevres-Babylone Metro( very convenient Metro stop.

highly recommended.

Excellent location being only one metro line from Gare du nord. Great for shopping and eateries in the area. Room perfect and has high Yakuts fixtures and fittings

Take a kettle if you like lots of tea and coffee although you buy this a part of room service.

Abientot Paris!

in the heart of the city; very near the metro; across and beside popular big shops; wonderful and helpful staff (Fabien was really good; Simeon has beautiful blue eyes-with his built, he looked like one of those statues in the Louvre!) the room is cosy; big bathroom! clean room every morning; fresh towels and supplies daily

Attractive, recently renovated and well-located.

The Placide is a small hotel but the staff are warm and helpful, the rooms are recently renovated, comfortable, well-equipped and clean, and the location next to Bon Marché/La Grande Épicerie, with all the 6éme to explore, is hard to beat.
