Pizza, people and lost fone!

Friendly welcome on check in but that was the one and only time i saw any staff, i was provided with a contact number in case of emergency and the asked me to take a foto of the access codes as they changed each day ( felt very safe) although i did manage to lock my fone in my room and had to wait for another guest to let me in the front door so i would suggest also keeping the paper info in a safe place on ypur person.
Great little area of paris metro across road next to a mc donalds but lots of little authentic bars/ cafes around with friendly locals and be bops pizza van was delicious and very reasonable and market on sunday morning (early)was a suprise

The hotel was actually very sizeable for what' we needed it for especially I did go with my little girls so great that McDonald's was across the road. In terms of transport links the metro is right across the road also and good shops and a local park around the corner for children.

The hotel is in a great location. That's the best part. The room is meh. The shower doesn't have a curtain and is advertised as a \"family\" room, but no one can take a shower when somebody is in the room. I have to kick everyone out so I can shower. The toilet is out in the hall, which is ok because we knew that in advance. I just didn't expect the ensuite shower to not have a curtain or something.

But the worst part is that the room reaks with CIGARETTE smell. I had to open the window in the cold night so I can sleep without putting on a mask.

This is a really clean, well-run hotel in a very good location - right next to the Metro and in a pleasant residential area. It's above a brasserie-bar but on the second floor there was very little noise (except the odd door banging). The only downside is the shared toilet.

Not too bad of a stay. Really cute restaurant in the front and convenient for getting around as the metro is across the street. Only problem was the lack of AC and didn’t get a fan until night 3 (survived heat wave of Europe 2019...with that said, almost no where has AC in Paris). Overall simple and easy place !

Lovely little hotel in a great neighbourhood!

Upon arriving in Paris I was slightly concerned when the taxi driver told me that the hotel was outside of the city! I need not have worried as this hotel was a great little place in a picturesque neighbourhood, meer steps from Garibaldi metro station. We were greeted outside the entrance of the bar/restaurant and escorted inside to check in, which in turn was an easy process led by the manager who was very friendly. The room was small but had everything we needed, apart from a toilet that happened to be directly opposite our room (we were aware of this when booking the room but as it may be an issue for some guests, there are certain rooms that do have all of the facilities). The room itself was modern and immaculate with a great view, there is also a park and a lovely church on the opposite side, along with a street lined market at the weekend. After long days scouring the city, coming back to the hotel was a pleasure as we would spend the remainder of the night in the bar. The staff were very accomodating and friendly despite our limited french (a special mention to Mehdi who translated everything for us, especially when we requested to leave our luggage on our last day, which they were more than happy to do). We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it! The next time I'm in Paris, I will definitely be staying here :)

Great for value.

Great for the value at time booked. Train and bus stop just across the street making it super easy to get into main attractions in Paris. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in walking didtance of hotel. Smoking is allowed in rooms so be aware incase you need smoke free for medical reason. Also shower is in room but you share toilet with others on floor.

Spent one night here. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Room was small, but perfect size for a couple. Toilet was just across the hall, and very clean. The cafe/bar downstairs was lively. Hotel located on a great street, near lots of banks, restaurants, other services. Directly across the street from subway station - perfect! Awesome experience, definitely a great place for the price. Basic hotel, close to metro

I did not like that the bathroom did not have a door - no privacy at all. There was no toilet in the bathroom, this was shared with other rooms on the floor. Worse the toilet did not have a sink so not possible to wash hands before leaving the toilet.
I liked that the Hotel very close to metro, and shops, about 30 mins from Gard du Nord.
Wifi stopped working on last day, the staff were not bothered (just shrugged at me) luckily a customer in the bar overhead and reset the box, got it working.

Wonderful!!

Wasn't able to drop my bags early, but that was the only bad thing about the stay. Very clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet, given the closeness of the place to the metro (literally across the street), which was incredibly convenient. ~25 min ride into the main tourist attractions.

Nice Affordable Hotel Near Metro

This was the third consecutive year that I stayed at Hotel cafe de l'Avenir and I would give it strong recommendation. The hotel is located in St Ouen and is located literally across the street from a Metro station. The commute to the central city is only 15-20 minutes. The hotel is across the street from a patisserie and a McDonald's and a short walk from other businesses such as a store and bars that offer entertainment. The hotel itself is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would give the hotel good recommendations based on my experiences.

Took my 2 young boys to Paris and stayed here. Hotel not the easiest to locate due to it being a cafe/bar and the hotel sign being small. Staff very friendly and most understood English. Had to pay local tax on arrival (even tho the booking stated i had paid this...i will be taking this up with hotels.com as they do not pass the taxes onto the hotel so you pay twice!!). Room comfortable and clean but no added extras (i.e. hair dryer or kettle). Was quiet on the 2nd floor. Good but basic breakfast for the price, no fruit or cereal (also not included as stated it was on the website!). Location is good for the metro but on our first morning we witnessed a fight in mcdonalds opposite with a local and a begger. Not what i wanted my children to see! Many beggers in the area and at the metro stations around the area.

I hope you have better luck than I did

They were very friendly, at any rate, but the hotel was essentially operated out of the first-floor restaurant (i.e., the bartender managed all transactions for the rooms themselves). It used punchcodes to get into our rooms and to get into the hotel after hours, which essentially meant that the hotel was almost completely unmanned after midnight.

The overall condition of the hotel rooms was stellar, so I can't fault them there. No scuffed walls, no peeling paint, everything in place. On the surface, it looked great. But the maintenance from housekeeping only seemed to involve cleaning, not restocking supplies. Soap for the shower came in little packets, and they were NOT replaced, even though it was clear I was running out. And since I got back late each night, I didn't have any clear way of dealing with the absence of soap. I also didn't have anything more than hand towels for my last two evenings. Oops.

But the real coup de grace--and it kills me to point this out--were the bedbugs. Yes, despite the immaculate appearance, there is no way that there WEREN'T bedbugs. This can happen in the best of hotels, but the relative minimum oversight of the rooms--particularly odd considering it isn't the greatest of neighborhoods (though the Garibaldi metro stop is conveniently across the street)--means that the condition of the hard-as-a-rock mattresses goes untended. And I like firm mattresses, but it goes without saying that I'm no fan of critters living in them!

Very hot and unconfortable stay.

The hotel has no air conditioned and it was 35° C in Paris! Neighbourhood seems to be dangerous, while it is very close to the tube station. But about 5 blocks again it is a dirty zone with homeless people and many others selling in the street all kind of objects, that we can at least doubt about their legal origin. Shower towel was never changed during the 4 days stay. I asked at the front desk to do so, and they did not seem very convinced on the rationale of my request. The hotel is in a noisy area, so it was hard to sleep because I either keep windows open for a little of fresh air and I heard the noise or I skip noise but I had to tolerate even hotter environment. I was lucky enaugh to get a room with private bathroom, but be warned that there are others with shared toilets!!! It was hard to communicate in English with personnel.

Great little hotel/bar

This is a brilliant place to stay. Fully refurbed rooms in the cafe bar/hotel. Go for room 24 right at the top with a view from the balcony. The staff made us feel part of the family and nothing was too much trouble. The 3 course food set menu at euros 13 was absolutely superb and amazing value. Also a nice breakfast in this buzzing bar with a great ambiance. The Garibaldi Metro is opposite and takes 7seconds to reach across the road!! Vincent and Sammy looked after us and were very helpful. We will be staying there again.

Great location, a few metres from Garibaldi metro. Very friendly welcome, helpful staff. The hotel is above a really nice café / bar used by the locals, the real France not touristy at all. Also a good bakery / café across the street. Room was fine, double bed a little small, but that is common in Paris. Only complaint was that it was so COLD. It was a particularly cold spell, but our room was sub zero. They did try and fix us and gave us a third duvet for the bed, but it should have been warmer. Also no hot water one morning. However, it is a really good small hotel at a great price.

It's a cute hotel in the suburbs just outside Paris. It's directly across the street from the Metro, so it's pretty easy to get into the city, however the neighborhood around the hotel itself is not super nice. The hotel is directly on top of bar / restaurant and the reception area is in the bar, but the staff is very friendly and the bar closes at 12, so it doesn't really interfere with sleep. Rooms are small, but very functional.

The hotel was great! It was just steps away from the Garibaldi subway station. One day we walked from the hotel to the main tourist attractions (not a short walk but lots to see and experience on the way down.) The room size is the average of what you'd find in Europe. The staff was friendly and showed us to the room. There are a lot of fun restaurants/take-out places to try out around the hotel. We saved some money by deciding on a hotel away from the main tourist area but I wouldn't have it any other way. Overall this hotel was great for what we were looking for. The room was clean and no funky smells. You can go in and out at all times of the night.

Terrific hotel. Very cozy. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
The neighborhood is perfectly okay. I walked around there at night. It's on the edge of town, not in the center of the city, but it's VERY convenient as the hotel is almost across the street from a metro station (Garibaldi).
As a bonus, there is a cafe downstairs where you can sit indoors or outside.
Overall a great experience. My only complaint is the smell of cigarette smoke in the room. I think it's because the windows may have been open some of the time, and people on the street directly below stand and smoke.
I would still highly recommend.

Small but very nice

The hotel is in a nice location, right next to a Metro station, in a neighborhood that is neither very touristy nor dangerous. The staff runs the cafe as well and gave me a free coffee (fresh italian espresso, not Keurig!) when I came to check in. They put up with my poor French but spoke English when necessary. My room was very small, had a sink and shower but the toilet was in a very small closet down the hall. Everything was very clean, almost too clean, going with the \"future\" theme. If you can stand the small rooms (one- or two-star accommodations), I would strongly recommend it.

Great hotel for a young active couple on a budget

The café De l'avenir is right next to the Garibaldi metro station. This means that you can get right into the centre of Paris within 10 minutes. It's about an hour by metro/RTR from Charles De Gaulle, costs less than 10 Euros on the train. The staff are all very friendly - I was so impressed with just how welcoming they were when we first arrived with our bags. The hotel is a smart bistro style place, that does better food than the other local restaurants - lovely fresh salads and a reasonably priced plat du jour. Their wine and beer selection is great too, they attract a smart and pretty chilled crowd, and the music they play is great if you like Jeff Buckley type stuff (who wouldn't!) The local area is full of economical shops like Monoprix and LIDL, and there's a great market on Sunday. You're not far from the famous St Ouan flea market. I got my hair cut and beard trimmed at a local North African barbers for just 10 Euros, and they did a brilliant job, it's a lovely friendly integrated area. The décor is modern with a funky 'end of the world' vibe going on. The showers are clean (you have your own shower), and while you share a toilet, you rarely if ever see anyone else. I chose this hotel because it had such excellent reviews for its price bracket, and I was definitely not disappointed.

Small Boutique Hotel

Our stay in Paris at this Hotel made us feel at home and at ease from the original perception that we had on arrival. The staff are extremely friendly and speaks English. They are friendly and helpful which makes us feel like home. The Hotel is not in central Paris but just directly in front of Garibaldi Metro Station which makes up for convenience and etc. Don't forget to try their coffee ! We can it even from our rooms at 3rd floor ! The Hotel is only about 15 minutes away from Central Paris. Good location, friendly staff and value for money especially when you are in Paris !!!

A great place for a solo short stay

I went on a 3 day trip to Paris from Germany and selected this hotel due to it's cost and location being so close to a Metro. I arrived via car (do not recommend, I'd highly recommend taking a train in) to a not so great area, much graffiti and things around. I questioned a local about parking and was told there had been several break ins on the tiny side street i wanted to park on. Despite this the hotel itself was located in a fine area and was directly across the street from the Metro that would take you anywhere in Paris. I bought a pack of 10 tickets and didn't even end up using them all as I enjoy walking. The hotel was small but fine for a single person like me and was clean and well kept. The room was again small, but you'd expect that in a discount Paris hotel. The sheets were stained but seemed clean enough. The shower and toilet were clean as well and the lobby bar was a pleasing place with a good menu and alcohol selection. The staff was courteous and spoke English as well as French. The security of the hotel was acceptable, overall a great experience especially for the price!

We were in this hotel for three days. The room was extremely small, no toilet in the room and the door lock was without a key (one uses the code which is very simple). But it was a hot season in Paris and hotels were very expensive, so this one for us was ok. We were there for meeting, not for holidays.

The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave us insight on where to eat and where to drink. We are breakfast here on Monday and morning and it was delicious. The room looks like it was recently renovated. You have a shower and sink in your room but must share toilette with other guests. There is no shower curtain so if its more than one person you must feel comfortable around them. I would definitely book them again.

Small but clean Room (comfortable bed). A bit far from downtown but the metro work great and it's almost in front of the metro entrance. Nothing to do around the Hotel. The bistro at the bottom sell cheap but good food. The best point is by far the warm welcome we recieved. All the staff was gentle and polite, always ready to help. I warmly recommand this destination for it's quality/ cost ratio and for the staff.

To be honest, I was a little afraid when I booked this hotel because a lot of people said, it was far from the city. However it is close to Garibaldi station, and it is like 20 mins away from everything. Nice neighborhood. The staff was great. They offered me a free drink, I would say everything was perfect.

The hotel has no reception, no lift, and the rooms are the smallest you've ever seen. There is also no toilet in the room, and only one communal toilet on each floor. But the price is good for Paris, and the hotel is well placed near a bus and metro, which makes getting around quite easy. Cafe de L'Avenir hotel is Cozy hotel to stay, the staff are extremely helpful from guiding to the hotel over phone to shifting your luggage to the room and will help in every way to make your stay comfortable. Near to the hotel is metro station Garibaldi and it hardly takes 15 minutes to reach Champs Élysées and bus stop opposite to hotel which will take you to the Gare du Nord station . I will stay next time as it best at this price with all services .

Great Little Hotel

While researching hotels in Paris, I was dismayed to see that most were very expensive or had poor reviews until I came across this hotel. There's not much to say that hasn't already been said by other reviewers. The hotel is located outside the city centrum, but it's easily accessible via the metro and there's a stop right across the street. One thing I liked was that there are door codes to get into the hotel and rooms instead of keys (the code to the hotel changes daily). The hotel is attached to a cafe/restaurant, which shuts down at midnight, but these codes allow for 24 hour access. I had the room on the ground floor, which has both a shower and toilet. The room was clean and kept clean daily. If I had one complaint it would be that it was a little noisy, since it was located by the entrance/exit (so I could hear everybody coming and going). It was something that I personally did not mind too much, though. I do want to give special mention to the staff, however, who, instead of merely great, made my stay at this hotel fantastic. They were incredibly nice, knew me by name, and listened patiently as I stumbled my way through and mispronounced French. Among them was the person working the cafe every morning, who was awesome and who took care of me each morning that I was there. This totally made my entire trip. I think, ultimately, what made this hotel stand out was that it didn't feel overly formal. Instead it felt cozy and familial. Highly recommended.

Good basic Hotel

As a single traveller, I found this hotel met my needs well. The staff were helpful but not interfering. I could come and go as I wanted. The room was compact but included all the facilities that I needed. The toilet was just a few steps down the corridor but still convenient . The general area was off the usual tourist route but suitable to meet my modest needs. The super-market just around the corner could supply virtually anything I needed. The close proximity to the Metro was very convenient. I took a couple of evening meals here and found them of good value and quality. All in all, I was pleased with the hotel, the price range was good and met all the description listed on the Expedia web site. No complaints at all.

Inexpensive, nice (but small) rooms

Management was great, the room was clean and relatively quiet. Bathrooms were in the hallway, but the room had a private shower. The location was right on the subway and not far from Moulin Rouge by taxi. The room was pretty small, just enough to fit the bed and space to walk on either side, but for Paris I think it was usual. Some of the rooms were bigger than others, due to the unusual wedge shape of the hotel building. Ours was right in the middle of the range of sizes, but it wasn't a very large range. The windows opened to a nice breeze, but no screen. I would stay there again.

Good and worthy for 73Eur per night

Cons - Initially rooms didnt have an attached bathroom, then they transferred to a bath attached room. Breakfast was not included :(. Pros - Located next to Garibaldi metro station from where you can connect to major of the city. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Clean rooms. Room service was excellent. Access to local market were you get stuffs for cheap rates. All and all a very good experience.

very nice very small hotel. Located as stated right across from the metro. the English spoken at the hotel was very limited. very clean and nice bathroom.The tv on the wall is very small, computer monitor size. The most negative thing I found with the hotel was they did not have Internet as stated.The only internet was from the McDonalds across the street which ended around 10 pm

This is a great place to stay. It is really easy to find if you are using the Metro and the rooms are clean. The staff are very friendly and happy to see you each day. They serve good food at good prices and the bar is quiet but nice with friendly locals who make you feel comfortable while you are there.

Le ménage laisse vraiment à désirer. Beaucoup de poussière avec des moutons au sol. Comme je l'ai déjà signalé lors de mon 1er séjour dans cet hôtel, lorsqu'on soulève la lunette des toilettes, ce n'est pas propre. De l'air froid passe sous la porte. Le lavabo est si bas qu'on se casse le dos en se brossant les dents. La chambre est petite, la salle de bain trop petite. Points positifs : la penderie et la douche avec une bonne pression.

Good value for money - at 2nd floor. I was happy with this.

Back again - now on 3rd floor, where a ventilator/motor on 3rd floor makes it close to impossible sleep. Really sorry about that - but - haven’t slept much this time (even though room is nice)

Thus - depends on floor and how susceptible you and your sleep is to this
