This hotel does not look at all like the picture, it's pretty much a scam. The rooms are tiny, everything is old and it's not sound proof. Let me be clear, the picture is nothing like the actual room, not even close. Do not stay there, it's overpriced and you will be disappointed.

The room was tiny which is expected in central Paris. The floor was very dusty. The shelves on the inside of the wardrobe were dusty. The maids came to clean between 4-6pm so we had to send them away. The showers could set the smoke alarms off. We had a fire alarm at 8.50 Monday morning. There is a bar directly next door to the hotel that regularly has parties on Saturday nights with loud music till 6-6.30am.

Fairly small room and quite compact to say the least. Was quite noisy on the lower floors/levels, mostly from the street bars/restaurants which are open till late. The surrounding area is mostly safe, but on the weekend you do get some strange/drunk characters walking around.

It’s a basic accommodation, small hotel but very good location. We were comfortable in our room. Grocery store and pharmacy were very close. Lots of restaurants around. It’s in 6th arrondissement.

The Vavin Hotel says it has air condition rooms except the air conditioner didnt function. My reservation was in August. The room had a fan. I had to sleep on top of the bed with the fan blowing on me.

The hotel location is great location, across the street from La Coupole, cafe Le Select, and next door to Relais d'Entrecote restaurant.

But I would stay there again in the summer months because the lack of AC.

It was a great convenient place to stay. But it said it had air conditioning, but this was broken and the room was too hot to sleep in, very inconvenient. Also the safe was broken, so we had to take all our valuables with us each day. Not the best.

You can do better than this place

This was an economical hotel choice only, no comforts. The room was not ready and I believe half-cleaned when we checked in around 5pm. Check-in starts at 2:30pm. There was a vacuum in the room, one bed instead of two twins, urine splashed up on the back of the toilet, one towel, no soap in the shower dispenser, and half a roll of toilet paper for a two day stay. There was a non-working AC unit and the street noise was active til past 2am with the windows open. The elevator can find only one person and a roller bag. I asked for a fan for the room and was told a technician was fixing the AC. That did not happen.

The hotel was very basic and a bit outdated, but definitely okay for a few nights in Paris. There was a noise (a weird buzzing sound) every 30 seconds, which is apparently coming from the airconditioning system, bring earplugs!

The area has numerous dining options and easy access to good public transport, all within a stone's throw from the property. The staff were professional and friendly, and the place was generally clean. The room was a big disappointment; it was the smallest hotel room we've ever stayed at, it was somewhat dated even though the promo narrative suggested it was updated, and the picture online was clearly staged to seem way more cozy than the reality when we got there. There is an elevator, but this could only accommodate two adults standing side by side, the absolute smallest we've ever seen or used. Our opinion, having stayed at many properties in the US and the Caribbean, is that this hotel was overpriced at just over $150.00 per night for our five (5) night stay.

First of all I am an experienced traveler who has been to 30 plus countries and books hotels and places constantly so this review is based to the competition out there .
Even though pictures deceive you about the space of the rooms , these hotel rooms are squeezed next to each other . For people who want to sleep late you can hear the cleaning ladies opening the doors of the other rooms which are literally inches from your door . Kinda disturbing.
The location is good , I found a dirty sock under the bed so I don’t know about the overall state of cleaning , rooms barely fit one person with 3 or more baggages , imagine if there were more people ….. Maybe I should have booked the bigger room instead, but that’s my experience . This hotel is just ok definitely overpriced

This is a cozy hotel in an absolutely great location on Rive Gauche. It was perfect for me and my son as we knew that hotel rooms in Paris are quite small. I would bring my own soap to the hotel if you are female as the one offered is very ‘male’ smelling. Also there were no shampoo or body lotions, but no big deal for us. We were very pleased and would recommend to others.

The hotel was conveniently located outside the main city centre, which was great (a lot quieter and more reasonably priced). The connections were great, with the metro just 5 minutes walk away.

The stay itself was pleasant and staff were pleasant. The hotel did not look like the photos, and was quite small and basic. The stay was pleasant nonetheless and the staff were very attentive and explained everything clearly. It made for a great weekend away! Would recommend for a cheap stay in Paris!

The web site was not reflective of the rooms. Very small small room and bath, holes in the doors from someone hitting it, flooring falling apart, no shower curtain. Worst of all is the smoke. They say it's no smoking but this could not be true. Smell was awful and if you opened the windows there is pub below that has people drinking and smoking most of the night. The cost of the room was better than others but not worth the savings.

Was only in for 3 days and the stay was pleasant and comforting. Its location is very convenient and in walking distance to a lot of sightseeing places. Bed was comfortable for my family and I. It was just my husband , my son and I. Staff was friendly and it’s a pretty nice view. The room is a good size, definitely be careful with steamy showers, we accidentally set the alarm off.

Absolutely tiny room with a tiny bathroom - there were no bathroom products in the room and only one roll of toilet paper. The place looks like it hasn’t been renovated in decades - I was left very disappointed for the money I paid, which wasn’t exactly cheap.

A Reasonable Gem

We've stayed here several times. The staff is great and the room spotless. The beds are comfortable, especially the pillows. The bathroom does the job but it is small and you need to be careful with the shower as there is only a partial wall and no curtain on the remainder. After you get used to that it is fine. The best part is the hotel location. Restaurants at the entrance, 150 feet from the metro and just a great, safe neighborhood.

The hotel is in a nice area with many dining options nearby. Although the hotel is not very clean, the faucet in our room was leaking water all over the ground. We informed the staff member who said it could be fixed the next morning but no one ever came to fix it. We had to wash our hands and brush our teeth using the the shower. Also beware that the elevator is tiny and if you are someone who gets claustrophobic I do not recommend staying here.

The room was very spacious especially compared to a typical European hotel and comfortably slept my family of 3.

It’s located right next to the Vavin station on Metro 4 and is a short walk to a major transit hub with access to anywhere you would want to go. Also right outside the door are multiple wonderful restaurants.

Would gladly stay here again when we come to Paris.

24 hour concierge was friendly and courteous. Having mini fridge in room was a plus. They have tried to upgrade with wall decor and bathroom tile. The room was small but very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and professional. My wife and I have visited Paris over 50 times. I'd have to say this was probably the best location. Wall to wall restaurants starting 50 feet away. President Macron's favorite restaurant was less than 200 feet away. The metro was very close as well. The area felt safe. We'll go back in October.

Arriving at night alone in a city is sometimes daunting but I was greeted at the hotel but a very helpful and professional night receptionist who was reassuring about directions and gave some helpful tips about transport and the area. The room is small, but bright, clean and comfortable, so everything you need for a short stay. Montparnasse area can be a little noisy at times but it is a really convenient location with many good restaurants on your doorstep and well placed for metro and RER to airport

The first night there was a fire alarm that went off in the early AM and did not shut off for about 10 minutes. Fire alarms are stationed in each shower so if you take a “steamy shower” it will trigger the alarm. There is a mini fridge but no hot water heater or access to fresh drinking water. We ended up purchasing bottles of water from a local store and storing them on the patio to keep chilled during our stay so we didn’t have to purchase everything in the mini fridge. The elevator is one person at a time with luggage which was not a big deal at all, just something to note. Next to some amazing restaurants and super close to amazing sights! Not the worst stay, it just started off with a blaring fire alarm that was not ideal for jet lag. Very kind staff!

My room had a strong stench of cigarette smoke. I have asthma, so this was very uncomfortable for me. When I asked to be changed to a different room, the other room they showed me was just as bad. I appreciated the cleanliness and the efficiency of the hotel. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms updated. The staff was friendly and super helpful. The price was reasonable. The hotel is located on Metro Line 4, it put us within minutes of all our must-see cultural spots in Paris. There were many, many restaurants within steps of the hotel, but we especially enjoyed what we affectionally called \"Crepe Alley\" (a small street lined with multiple crepe restaurants). I would return to this property in the future. Thank you for your hospitality! :)

The hotel is located in a very convenient area with access to metro just 5 min away. There are many restaurants options and cafes.

The hotel needs a renovation. It is old and tired looking. In our room, the faucet was broken and leaking, I advised the staff no one fixed it (for 5 days stay).
Also a hot water cattle was available for the room it was broken. I asked multiple times for a new one, I never got one. I was brining hot water to the room from the dining area downstairs.

I would not stay in this hotel again.

The elevator was so tiny that one person and two pieces of luggage barely fit. If two people are in there, no luggage fits. The spiral stairwell is only big enough for one person to go on at a time.
The room was small but adequate.
The \"queen\" bed was two singles pushed together. This is not uncommon in Europe, but it was still a little annoying.

Perfect for couple of days in amazing location

Amazing localization - within this area you can access all main atractions by foot. In addition, metro is just around the corner (literally).

On the flip side, there was some issue with malfunctioning fire alarm - gentelman at the reception advised it is nothing - three days in a row.

Very comfortable beds however, very small room (maybe just room no. 31?) but this is a Paris standard from what I know.

Great neighborhood (Montparnasse) -- quiet, near several cafes and a row of creperies, as well as two metros. Hotel was newly renovated and the fittings in the room were decent. However, like a lot of Europe, the room was incredibly small. No curtain in shower (this should be easily fixable) meant a mess made easily. However, the worse thing was that my first floor room was directly above a Cuban cigar bar that advertised a party going till 5AM. Whether this was the case or not, I was kept awake late my first night and awakened repeatedly by revelers outside. I asked NOT to be on the first floor but the otherwise very nice man at the reception told me it wasn't possible (no other rooms don't know). The day he asked how everything was and I said it was noisy; he told me that it was because people liked to go out at night (!). Try to get a room on a higher floor if you stay here. It's a great hotel if you plan to be in your room only 8 hours to sleep. Note no amenities like coffee/tea in room. Minibar has just a couple beer, coke, chips and chocolate. Clean, renovated, decent, good 'hood but nothing special.

Inexpensive and nice. We had a larger room which is small by US standards but perfectly fine. Room sizes vary from room to room, so be clear what you need when you register. The bathroom was cheerful, bright and modern, as was the room. There were 3 desk clerks. The one who checked us in spoke English and was exceedingly helpful with directions and tips. The afternoon guy spoke less English but was cheerful. The late night guy spoke no English and was very rude, even to our French friends. They keep the key when you leave so you have to deal with them all. Location is not bad, and is on a metro line, so it's easy to get around. Overall its a cute little hitel, clean and bright, and we'd definitely use it again.

Really wonderful folks - friendly and hospitable front desk staff. Room was cleaned daily. Found that the pillows were too high for a comfy sleep. Great queen size bed - 2 beds put together. Overall great experience and location.

Good location - 20 minute direct train from Gare du Nord and 1 minute walk from the train station to the hotel. Good to get around on the metro. When arriving to the hotel the receptionist couldn’t find the booking. Didn’t speak English so hard to communicate and didn’t seem to be doing anything to find the confirmation. After I rang hotels.com he was able to “find” the booking. When checking out I was told my booking wasn’t paid for, this time the receptionist was very helpful and able to speak English, it seems when checking in the staff didn’t put any notes on the computer to say there was an issue. Hard to communicate with other receptionists as they were unable to speak any English, not even key or iron, and were very rude about the fact we didn’t understand french. Apparently you are meant to leave your key at the front desk when leaving the hotel but we weren’t informed of this until 2 days later when I said I would like to keep the key the receptionist got angry. Small room but nice and comfy bed - double room but 2 single duvets and an AC with a mind of its own. Iron which just leaks out water. Tiny lift barely able to fit 2 people in. Majority of staff seemed nice but let down by the 1 or 2 ignorant ones.
