Beware: You May be Denied Air Conditioning

We were there in mid/late May. The hotel advertises on their website as having air conditioning. We were on the 3rd floor & you could feel the heat rising from one floor to the next. The room was very hot. We were unable to turn on the AC because it was centrally controlled by the hotel. When I told the front desk the next morning that I was hot & asked if they could turn on the AC they told me they would not because it was not the right time of year for airconditioning. I pointed out that there were no screens on the window & that bug could come in. They did not care. We had to sleep with the windows open and without a blanket as the heavy duvet made us to hot. The next morning I woke up with a dozen welts my my arms, legs & face from mosquito bites & killed 4 mosquitos. I showed them the bites & that one was blistering & explained I was allergic to mosquitos. They still would not turn on the a.c. & were utterly unsympathetic. The rest of the stay I had to sleep with the windows closed for fear of more mosquitos entering the room. And I had to ask them to give me a top sheet and take away the duvet. I had to sleep with a sheet over my face to protect myself just incase we hadn't killed all the mosquitos & I barely slept because I was so hot! So beware, if you sleep warm & have insect allergies - bees, mosquitos etc you will be in for a very uncomfortable stay if you choose to stay during a time that the staff doesn't consider \"summer\".

A beautiful & slightly quirky hotel with classy communal areas & very comfortable bedroom. We also had a lovely terrace complete with chairs, table & huge beanbag.
Staff were exceptionally helpful & friendly. Breakfast was of a good selection & of the highest quality.
Walkable into the main area of Biarritz in 5 minutes. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I expected quite a standard service but it exceeded my expectations. The decor is cool, location was very handy for the beach and centre and the room itself was lovely and had its own terrace. The service was great, the staff were friendly and attentive. I didn’t have the breakfast so can’t comment on that but if I return to Biarritz I’d definitely consider going back here.

Lovely hotel!

We had a really lovely stay here for 2 nights, very close to good bars and restaurants but just far away enough to be on a quiet street. We would happily stay again and would recommend to friends and family.
Only complaint is the sustainability practices here! We got new towels after one night, as well as a brand new soap, and sugar cubes were individually wrapped in plastic!

So Charming It Was Almost Unbearable!

This place was so ridiculously charming it was almost unbearable (in such a good way!). We came on a spontaneous trip from Oregon to Biarritz, not really knowing anything about the city, to see a favorite musician, Melody Gardot, perform at a local venue. We knew we wanted a small, cozy place near the theatre, preferably walking distance, and this place fit the bill. What we didn't expect (the pictures of the property and amenities don't do it justice), was the unbearable charm of the of the property itself. Super clean, super French, super accommodating, super adorable, super service, heck, even the hotel breakfast was super! The bed was comfortable, the room was adorable, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, the view from the balcony of a charming quaint streets of a French seaside village was idyllic, the location was perfect, just a few minutes walk from anywhere you want to go in town, from the beach to the theatre, to a plethora of restaraunts. Fell in love with Biarritz, will definitely be back, and will definitely try to book here again.

I took #38 bus from the airport and was dropped off a 3 minute walk away. Charming property but no elevator so don’t stay if you can’t do stairs or have lots of luggage. Central location. Bathroom sink is not s sink, concrete slab with a sink. Hard to even brush my teeth. All else is good with my single room.

Lovely little hotel set in a quiet street and a short walk to the old town and the beach. The rest of the town is easily accessible as is Biarritz's main surfing beaches. Lovely bakery at end of the street and supermarkets nearby. Our room and bathroom were clean, modern and comfortable.

Malheureusement pour nous, le temps n'était pas à son avantage, mais la chambre était tellement agréable que nous y sommes rester pour en profiter le maximum.

We chose this hotel for our 1 night stay in Biarritz, France for its convenient location. We easily found the recommended car park and the hotel was about a 3 -4 minute walk. We were pleasantly greeted and provided access to our room on the 2nd floor. It was spacious and had a ton of character. Old wood floors, set of steps within the room to access the window,etc. There was also plenty of room for our luggage. We headed out from here and made our way to Les Halles (2 minute walk), Miremont (famous pastry cafe (3 minute walk) and the beautiful sea front (5 minute walk). There are also many wonderful restaurants even closer to the hotel (not down at waterfront) and we chose one of these for our Saturday night out in Biarritz. The hotel staff kindly made a reservation for us at the restaurant of our choice and the restaurant had a table ready for us when we arrived. We enjoyed a good nights rest at the Hotel Edouard and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Biarittz. Friendly staff, French charm and a convenient location to all points of interest.

Was very impressed by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff at this hotel. The hotel has a lovely grand living room and conservatory area with cosy sofas and chairs where you can chill out, help yourself to free coffee and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and elegant decor. It's easy walking distance to the beach and into the centre of town and there are lots of restaurants close by. Nice breakfast buffet.

An excellent hotel, full of character. I would usually pick a very modern, boutique hotel, but Edouard VII proved charming and welcoming. The bedroom was large, with polished wood floors and furnished with older pieces; the room temperature was controlled with quiet, efficient air conditioning. The bed was extremely comfortable with crisp, clean white bedding. The bathroom was fitted with a modern shower and a marble sink 'slab' (which despite initial concerns, worked well). Both bedroom and bathroom had large double windows which opened to give lovely views of surrounding area. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The hotel was within 5 minute walk of Les Halles (a beautiful food market) and accompanying restaurants and bars. Being those 2/3 streets away from the centre of town meant the hotel was extremely quiet at night - so an excellent night's sleep was guaranteed. Biarritz itself was fantastic with a seemingly endless choice of restaurants and bars, shops and expansive beaches. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel and the resort.

Excellent location in the back streets close to the markets, and within easy walking distance to beaches, restaurants,shops and buses. Lovely \"old world\" feel to the comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms.For a smaller hotel there was a good variety of choices for breakfast. The room was on the top floor but there was no lift. However, the staff were very helpful and took our cases up for us and down when we departed. Really they had thought of everything in this hotel. The room was very clean, had a lovely bathroom and the bed was very comfortable.the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would go there again.

Convenient, beautifully furnished and fitted out. Comfortable bed, spacious rooms. No bar and when we brought a bottle of wine to drink on the terrace we were told this was not allowed which was very disappointing as we were just 2 women having a quiet drink in the evening. A mistake over booking our taxi for the airport was dismissed as unimportant even though it made us half an hour late.
Breakfast was continental pastries and toast but no baguettes. Tinned fruit but fresh orange juice and good service.

Biarritz is one of the most lovelyful cities in France. Clean and neat with spectabular scenaries . You can take long walks by the sea and there is nice shopping, good food and nice cafeterias. For young people there is also lots going on in this surf town. The town realy has it all !!

Excellent location, close to shops and beaches

This is a traditional French style hotel which has much character and interesting aspects, such as the polished wood floors, french doors and the cast iron balustrading on the balconies. The facilities are limited, i.e. no bar, no restaurant (breakfast room only), no fitness centre. Having said that, this did not detract from the wonderful time we enjoyed at the Edouard VII. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and all speak good English. I have to make a special mention of the excellent cleanliness of the hotel and especially the rooms. Although a little expensive, I will definitely be returning to this hotel.

The hotel is walking distance to the beach, shopping and restaurants. This is the second time I have stayed here and it is a pleasant enough place to stay. My room was large and although quite sparsely decorated and basic, the decoration was tasteful. the beds are large but a little hard - which could easily be remedied with a nice mattress topper! The bathroom was basic but there was plenty of hot water and towels. The hotel common parts are very pleasant and if you visit in the summer you can have your breakfast on the very nice balcony at the front of the hotel.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and far exceeded my expectations. We opted for one of the cheaper rooms which was fairly small but lacking in nothing and lovely to have private outdoor space. The breakfast was perfect and the terrace beautiful.

This was booked online for a 3 day break on the basis of others reviews. It's a clean comfortable hotel but we felt the breakfast was over priced at 12eur. You can get a similar breakfast in the nearby cafe for around 5eur. The room was in the basement but comfortable with a small terrace (no view).

5 minute walk to the beach!

Hard to find (everyhing in Biarritz is hard to find for first timers, as is Biarritz itself. I'ts a suburb of Bayonne and not indicated coming from the north on the autoroute. Without GPS, you're totally on your own. If you're driving, parking is a real challenge, as it's either very limited on-street ( I just lucky). But once you're parked, you don't really need a car. Watch out for tourist trap eateries on nearby rue Gambetta, find local looking restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Wasn't quite sure what to expect there, but it's a mixture of many aged retirees and a smaller crowd of surf-types...makes for an interesting demographic. I'ts barely a two hour drive to the Guggenheim in Bilbao if modern art is your thing....I liked the architecture more than the art, but that's just me.

A great hotel 1 minute away from the hustle & bustle. Balcony room was large & immaculate & staff were friendly & helpful.
If you are driving be warned - parking is a nightmare. If you find a space leave the car there until you are ready to leave ! 24 hour parking is available 5 minutes away at a cost.

We loved staying at this hotel - our bedroom was beautiful (and huge), combining old charm with modern beauty (bathroom was nicely updated). The front desk staff was very nice and helpful - they helped us figure out the local bus system to go to an indoor spa just outside of town on a rainy day when we could not go to the beach and gave us good restaurant recommendations for dinner! Also - we had a really strong wifi connection in our room (we were in bedroom on the top floor), which as American travelers without cellular data in France we really appreciated!

Hotel with character in quiet location

The hotel has a traditional look in the public areas and rooms with many original features. The room was bright and airy with high ceilings and sympathetically furnished. The bathroom was modern and looked recently done. There is a public lounge on the ground floor leading out onto a small terrace. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town centre, beaches and restaurants, but in a quiet part of town with a more residential feel.

A wonderful hotel!

We spent four nights at the Hotel Eduoard VII and had a wonderful time. We stayed in a standard room on the garden level and the room was very comfortable and cosy. We had a small private terrace which was a lovely addition. The room was very quiet and the bathroom was well equipped.

The hotel was very well located; just a 5 minute walk from the beach and shops and a good variety of restaurants.

Breakfast was buffet style, with a good selection, and was very enjoyable.

The staff in the hotel were all very friendly and welcoming.

This is a delightful hotel and we would highly recommend it. Indeed, we hope to be able to visit again soon!

Wonderful, helpful greeting from front desk, we arrived early and given immediate access to our room, greatly appreciated. Room clean, comfortable and in good condition, maybe bed could do with an update but slept well.Old style building but very well maintained, pleasantly decorated, would have liked to stay longer. Off street parking available in the off peak season. Did not have breakfast so cannot comment.Good recommendations made for evening dining, local knowledge excellent.

It was totally private and we enjoyed eating a breakfast bought from the boulangerie or a glass if wine in the evening. The hotel is really central , close to the market and many bars and restaurants, also 2 streets away from the seafront . We found parking relatively easy .. Free in the streets around the hotel .

Wonderful hotel

We felt really at home the minute we stepped through the door. The decor is wonderful, the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful, and being able to bring and eat some food on the terrace was really appreciated by us. We will be heading for this hotel next time we come to Biarritz. A big thank you to all the staff.

Good hotel

Good hotel with distinctly French feel and tasteful decor. Great location, an easy walk from everything with good local restaurants and bars but on quiet side of town. Helpful receptionist. Soundproofing within room was not perfect though and we could hear some noise from upstairs, nothing too bad.

Exceeded our expectations. Much nicer than the large 4* hotels we had stayed in in Paris. Great charm and character a short walk to shops, an unbelievable daily market and the beach.

Lovely hotel with a short walk to the beach.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights as we travelled through the south of france. The hotel was only a short walk to the beach and main strip. Given its location is was much quieter than others we had stayed at. The staff were lovely and helped us explore the beautiful town of Biarritz.
