Staff at check in were courteous and helpfull. Room was clean but lacked some of the amenities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. No fridge or water. Slippers were advertised as part of the room but were not provided. Having to request room upkeep on the previous day was a strange idea. Also we were very surprised at having to pay extra for parking, which was not mentioned in the booking page.

The reception was lovely and warm, however the bedroom was not! Even turning the heating up to full and leaving the room for a few hours, did not help much. The bar was fairly warm, but the dining room was so cold, that they actually had an electric heater, plugged in.
The price of their beer was extortionate, at £5:50 per bottle. In the local supermarket, you could get the same bottled beer for just over a pound per bottle.

Check in good. Room good. Facilities good. Staff, on the whole good. My sister in law had her purse stolen from a locked locker in the swimming pool changing room. No one available to view cctv for hour and a half. Then they were too busy. In the end 6 hours later they suggested calling the police. Unsatifactory. Very poor response, pathetic in fact. The perp long gone. No appreciation of the distress and feelings of helplessness. No plan of action in place. Blind leading the blind. Poor management. Shame, the place is nice and the non management staff excellent. Both my brother and sister in law were bereaved 3 years ago, have only been married 4 months, I took them away for a treat. This event turned it into a disaster. Memories that will sadly prevent a return.

Not worth the upgrade to be honest. Stick with s standard room and book the restaurant as it gets busy late on.

I stay in many hotels in the UK and Europe and frankly, many of them are not up to the standard you’d expect, so reading some of the not so positive reviews for this one I was already expecting very little but due to the proximity to my teams work location for the week I decided to risk it. While the external appearance suggested I was right to be apprehensive, resembling something between a dark and foreboding prison and an unloved office block, from the minute I entered the reception with it’s lovely smell, the happy to help smiling reception staff and the functional but very clean room in the first floor my concerns vanished and after a week in their care I can say I’d happily recommend Alterns and will stay again if I return to the area. I didn’t use the Health club but colleagues did and reported positively on it’s facilities and appearance, we only ate in the restaurant once and the food was exactly what you’d expect from such a hotel. Improvements? Better exit signage and surfacing for the ample sized car park, more accessible power socket by the bed (hidden behind table), some noise from happy residents on a couple of evenings (room was close to stairs) but really, nothing significant. Thank you Alterns, I’ll be back 😁

Good hotel for a short business trip. The room was comfortable and the restaurant food was very good, though some of the seating — especially the lower tables and booths — felt a bit cramped. Check in was effortless with a nice chat with the receptionist. I had upgraded my room for this visit and it was really comfortable with a large bed and a coffee machine, but other than this the standard room I usually have is very good.
As ever I used the gym and the pool which are both really good for a hotel. Only problem was, as it's the school holidays the kids were enjoying themselves in the usually tranquil pool,lol. There is an adult only period in the pool from 7pm. Food and service in the restaurant was as good as ever. The hotel also has good size carpark which is charged for but not a big cost. This really is an ideal base for visiting Aberdeen.

Got a goods night sleep took 4 yr old granson swimming twice pool not huge but well maintained and managed they have a small kiddies pool as well as the main pool there is also a jacuzzi and sauna as well as gym. We picked this primarily with EV charging in mind, and weren't disappointed either. Comfy beds, nice meals. Friendly staff, clean. Its 3 miles south of the city but the city parking is good and the traffics not bad.

Rude Staff was New and no solution offered.
The reception staff was extremely rude and not accomodating. It was easter break when i visited. I had booked the pool for use with my son btw 4pm - 5pm post check in but was sent back when we arrived at the pool by the staff. Staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was no mannerism in her speaking - she mentioned i cant go in even though i have booked in with my room. I was disappointed by her behaviour and reported it to the front desk only to get an answer \" she is new\" but not a solution to the inconvenience i had faced. My son and I booked the hotel mainly for the pool use and some time together. After hours of my argument for a solution, i was offered to come between 6am -7am the next day. I did it for my son but am never visiting again. Ruined our time and relaxation there.

Cannot fault my stay here. Very nice check in friendly staff, nice bar area, excellent gym and pool/sauna. Just a very nice feel to the place. My only gripe would be having to pay for parking although only £3 if you booked direct through the hotel there was no charge. Seems unfair. And also very limited 0% alcohol selection in the bar. I will definitely be staying here again though.

They had a elevator, that was nice. You have to reserve you time to use the pool/spa area. The restaurant was good. Overall the services were normal but impersonal just like many larger hotels (I normally choose smaller places but went with this one for the use of the hot tub/ pool that I didnt end up getting to use)

Really good weekend stay extra day. Checking in & checking out receptionist was very friendly. Food was great only thing was thing saying where to sit, then the following day saying table was booked, but nobody turned up but the other girl said it was ok to sit there, so all good.

Fantastic stay. The staff were friendly on arrival. The pool was good, as was the sauna and steam room. No issues with cleanliness and a good night sleep had by us all.

Nice hotel. This is my first ch hotel when I stay in Aberdeen. Rooms are clean and comfortable with a good shower.

Ground floor superior room. Waste from other rooms kept coming back up the toilet. Reception knew about it but apparently ‘nothing can be done about it’!!! Moved to a top floor room. Won’t be returning until the drains are fixed.

My new favourite Aberdeen Hotel
Had a lovely stay, I was there for business. The WiFi worked well which is a plus. Had a problem with the TV and the delightful duty manager tried her best to fix it before swapping it for another one, apologising for any inconvenience.
I had a splendid burger with chilli and cheese with a side of onion rings, which was a great day to end the day.
Popped into the gym and pool for a couple of workouts and a swim. The gym is much better than the normal hotel gym, more like a private club gym.
I would recommend staying and will be there again on my next visit to Aberdeen.

We had a room 2 rooms down and on the floor above running about and banging all night till 1.30am was children left on there own.
No idea were the parents were.

Hotel was lovely. Nice ambiance when you entered and it smelled beautiful. Checkin was flawless. Breakfast was delicious and hot. Rooms were immaculately clean. Perfect stay. My only negative is we were not told on check in you had to book for leisure side which fortunately we were there for 2 nights and managed to get booked for 2nd day. And you had to pay for parking which was strange for a guest staying in hotel

It was a nice room. Bathroom was a good size, nice light from the windows and the bed was large too. My only negative is that it was quite a hard bed and I get quite a sore back from hard beds so was in a bit of pain in the morning (fyi I’m under the age of 40 😂). Great size room though.
