Beautiful chateau set in lovely grounds. Our initial room was in the old part of the building and definitely needed an upgrade. Lovely outlook but small, old fashioned bathroom and a distinct smell. So we asked to be moved. No problem and we were moved to a modern room in the newer extension, which was fine.

However, there were challenges: poor internet in Park building, mediocre breakfast, no lift in the chateau so 47 steps up to our second etage room in the chateau, few restaurants nearby and no restaurant in the hotel apart from breakfast room.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. The staff were courteous and helpful. A nice atmosphere and convenient location. We stayed in one of the renovated rooms by the park which was very comfortable, spacious, and quiet. There are plenty of places to relax around the property. It was the perfect way to visit and explore Strasbourg while also getting a château experience.

Best experience to stay here in a chateau
Wow what a wonderful place to stay. We have visited many chateaux and stately homes before but never had the opportunity to stay in one. What an amazing experience. Good size bedroom ample bathroom excellent choice of buffet food. Reception staff very helpful and friendly and gave good advice. Parking outside and easy park and ride into central strasbourg. Would recommend it without hesitation. :-)

Stayed 4 nights in new section, nice large bathroom and bedroom, bed large and comfortable. Breakfast buffet nice. Didn’t have car and 25mins walk to tram that takes you in to strasbourg city. One resturant at gates entrance but not open every day, so had to walk into small town from chateau. Not good walk back at night after restaurant in dark. Beware teens on motorbikes riding around park grounds,no security and felt unsafe.

Wonderful Way to Spend a Weekend!
Staff was very accommodating. They were friendly and fluent in English. The coffee, tea, bar area ia accessible 24 hours a day on the honor system. Someone had a beautiful wedding in the garden during our stay. The chateau is ajacent to a park area with miles of wide, level walk and bike ways! Wonderful, fresh breakfast daily!

This was the perfect gathering place for our group of 8 ladies on a Christmas markets trip, We felt like royalty in our own chateau gathering around the Christmas tree in the lounge area. I enjoyed playing the beautiful piano in the ballroom. The staff made us feel so at home.

Beautiful castle. The room was spacious. Since it’s an old castle the walls are white thin, walking on the wooden floor can be noisy too, same for the pipes. The mattress is a bit hard as well.
However the rooms of the castle are gorgeous, the staff is service-minded and the breakfast is good. The outdoor is also a relaxed environment.

The chateau was impressive sitting on a hectares of beautiful ground that’s accessible to the public. We have a puppy we us so it was ideal.
We booked a park room that has a balcony, wooden flooring which we prefer over a carpeted ones , modern, tastefully decorated and big toilet/shower with balcony overlooking beautiful scenery. There’s only one thing that would make it perfect- bed & pillows are not that comfortable as we prefer a medium firmness.

Beautiful venue. This hotel is great for couples wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, yet still close enough to Strassburg to enjoy the nightlife. Breakfast was typically European with meats, cheeses and sweets. Raw eggs were available to be boiled. Service was excellent and pleasant.

Beautiful setting, quite historically impressive. Room chairs like desk chairs. Views, wonderful. Breakfast, fine. No elevator so be prepared to climb a lot of stairs with your luggage. Friendly staff. We took a taxi to town as we’re 75+ but walkers might not mind the walk to the train or bus stops.

was a good size even being up on the top floor , very clean, great views of the estate park and best to walk around we recommend to make time for that . Best to request for the Châteaux as there is also a chalet on the grounds.
As for dinner some have said that the restaurant before the entrance of the Chateaux was nice, unfortunately we did not experience this, there was a very young cook on the night we went and our food was not nice, the salmon we guess was from the supermarket, the steak was badly cooked & chips well over done to dark brown. The young waitress was nice her service was good. Even with our comments others are best to try for them selves, we were unlucky on the night.

The Château de Pourtalès is a super choice for a place to stay when travelling to Strasbourg - in a fabulous country environment whilst being close enough to the city. When I stayed there was no local facility for eating - but the staff were very keen to assist with organizing somewhere to eat.
The hotel provides an idea alternative to staying in he centre of the city but you really need to be mobile when using the hotel.

A Gem of a Hotel!
We stayed 5 nights at the Chateau de Portales. Arriving at night along the drive you are welcomed by the most gorgeous building all lit up for Xmas! It's by no means a luxurious hotel but perfect for us and our dog. There is complimentary tea and coffee and biscuits available 24 hrs and a little bar with complimentary Port and an honesty box for IOU's if you wish to purchase a bottle of wine, beer or soft drink. The breakfast was adequate for us with lovely fresh croissants, yogurts, fruits and cereals etc. The Chateau is located at the edge of woodland which is excellent for walking dogs although the grounds of the hotel are great for dog walking also. There's a little restaurant at the top of the drive which serves lovely food. We ate there every night. For going into Strasbourg, you can leave your car about 1.5 miles away at the park and ride and take the tram into the centre. This costs 4.10 Euros return irrespective of how many occupants in the car. I loved the overall feel to the hotel and the surrounding gardens. I would definitely return to the Chateau. It's not often you find a Hotel as unique as this in such a lovely location!

We had just a one night stay here on out travels. It's a beautiful Chateau with the reception rooms preserved in their original decor. We booked last minute so were in the annex which is obviously recently refurbished and was a delightful room with a french window to a private garden. The grounds are lovely and huge and you have a real sense of stepping back in time. The staff were absolutely lovely and Breakfast was excellent. We loved the honesty bar complete with complimentary Port. Would and have recommended to anyone thinking of staying in Strasbourg. Great location and excellent value

As this is an older hotel, it has loads of character! No air conditioning for hot nights, but they provide fans! We loved that it was set back in the countryside, staff was very welcoming, rooms were nice, breakfast was very good....we would have liked to stay more than one night. Greeted by a very informative reception desk we headed for our room. The room was up 4 flights of stairs and was a challenge. The room was not air conditioned and was very warm. Opening the windows did not cool the room. We had a small fan to use for the night. The breakfast was very good. We did not use the other facilities. Average hotel.

We were located in the most elegant rooms within the Chateau. Beautiful parkland, away from traffic of the city. The cost was so not expensive at only £50 - £60 per room with a buffet breakfast.

One night stop over on route to Austria. We found the staff very friendly English was spoken the room was large and very clean. Restaurant at the entrance to the chateau was not bad but a bit pricey,just wish we had more time to visit Strasbourg it looked a beautiful city.

Really enjoyed our short stay in the Chateau. The owner has lovingly restored the building in keeping with its previous era but in retaining its 21st century feel and comfort. This is such a fun place to stay, very easy drive to Strasbourg and lovely setting if you are just looking to get away. Just a tip, when you drive into Strasbourg for dinner and the Gutenberg lot says its full....it may have spaces. And if you park in St. Nicholas parking instead and go back after 9pm to find a gate has been closed, enter 2222 on the digicode pad and you will be all set!

Interesting location for drivers, not central
This chateau is in a park setting well away from the center of the city. The nearest bus is about 4 blocks away, and a \"Park and Ride\" lot for the tram into town is about a kilometer away. There is a good restaurant at the entrance to the chateau driveway (250 meters) operated by the same company. A commercial area with restaurants, neighborhood shops, banks, etc is about a kilometer away on the way toward downtown Strasbourg. It is a good location for those who want to drive, park for free, and enjoy the peace and quiet. The park and ride lot sounds like an option for going into the center, but on weekdays it may fill up with commuters (I don't know that).
Room was fairly good sized, the bathroom was updated, it was up one flight of stairs and down a creaky hallway. The wi-fi was spotty in that room, but worked well elsewhere in the property. There was an honors bar off of the lobby, which from the reception woman's description was beer, wine, and soft drinks only.

The hotel is not in the chateau, but next to it. The grounds are beautiful. Area is quiet. 20 min taxi ride away from the city and 30 min by bus. Hotel room was clean and functional, and bathroom looked newly renovated. Customer service was excellent.

We gasped with delight when we first saw the hotel. It is a beautiful chateau set in stunning grounds. Our room is absolutely gorgeous. It is rather like staying somewhere very grand which also feels like home. The staff are very friendly and multi-lingual. Dogs are very welcome and are allowed in the dining room.

A tranquil and charming hotel. Staff could not have been more pleasant and welcoming, and were not in any way obtrusive. You were very much left to come and go as you pleased. Hotel was particularly well maintained, clean and had a very homely feel to it. Lovely to walk in the grounds and the availability of outdoor activities was a great bonus. Would have liked to stay longer.

I stopped here on a stopover to the Channel Ferry and cannot speak highly enough of what I found. Wonderful location in a country park, a lovely room, helpful staff and a great buffet breakfast. Not to mention great value for money. I shall definitely return the next time I am in the area.

Must-stay location near to Strasbourg city centre
Château de Pourtalès is located close to Strasbourg city centre but you could forgiven for thinking you are far out in the quiet countryside! The hotel is set on extensive well kept grounds and is conducive for a peaceful stay. The facilities are modern and well maintained and the service provided is second to none. Definitely worth a visit and stay if you are in in the area.

We were surprised by the beautiful Chateau surrounded by huge jardin (garden) . Hotel staff was very friendly. They all spoke fluent English, which was helpful. Prize was excellent for the place. The breakfast servings guy was not very keen to help. Coffee could have been little better if they could serve fresh. Overall our stay was very enjoyable and pleasant.

It was an extraordinary experience! The Chateau combines the experience of historical exploration and a cozy and peaceful stay. It was clean and tidy. The staff are super friendly and kind. There was an opportunity to park directly outside the room. There's a huge green territory to walk around or to have a romantic picnic. It is just 4 minutes away from the supermarket, or 15-20 min drive from the city center. Perfect location if you would like to have a wonderful and memorable stay, or simply to rest after a long drive. It's just 30 minutes away from German border. We hope to come back again soon!
