Easy, friendly check in, was shown to the lift and told which way to go. Room was in the French style, on the 5th floor, with reduced height ceiling between the dormers, but which did not interfere with circulation. All the windows could be opened, and had permanent fly screening. Comfortable bed. Nice big en-suite bathroom. Espresso coffee machine, WiFi & TV. I declined housekeeping, and did not try the food as I was visiting family. There is a 24/7 grocery across the street, and various shops close by

Beware, rude treatment at this hotel

I had booked a deluxe double room with a city view. When I arrived that afternoon, the reception clerk was extremely abrupt and rude to me, for seemingly no reason except he appeared overworked. He walked me to my room on the rear of the main entry level. The only window in the room overlooked and was on the same level as the patio of the next brasserie. Clearly not a city view. I went back to the clerk and calmly said that this was the deluxe room with a city view that I had reserved. He said they were fully booked and that was only room available. I calmly stated again that it was not what I reserved. He found a room on the next floor up. It faced an interior courtyard and was smaller, very tight. I decided it was useless trying to argue with him. I left for the afternoon Realizing I would get nowhere with him. When I returned, he was checking a large our group. So certainly there was a room he could given me before they arrived. But it was more his officious attitude toward me that most disturbing. He should have apologized for the lack of the room that I had reserved and offered some type of compensation - a free breakfast, etc. Nothing. The clerk the next day was the opposite - kind and friendly. I would be careful when booking here. You may not get the room you reserved, and you may treated rudely by their staff.

Jewel of an apartment. It is about 15 minutes from the train stations on foot. It is close to shopping and old Lille. The beds were comfortable and the toilet was large and well organized. I would definitely stay here again (it is my second time).

Great place to stay

We had an excellent stay. The staff was really nice and friendly. Located in the centre of Old Lille, which could not have been better. Clean and comfortable room. They hold the luggage for us after check out and let us stay in the lobby. Would definitely recommend.

The staff were excellent. All of them. Superb. The reception area is welcoming. The hotel is centrally located and very clean. I would have liked my complimentary bottle of water to be replaced when the room was cleaned and, with there being so many streets, a local central map would have been useful. These are however minor things. The hotel is excellent, welcoming and i will definitely stay again.

Excellent location in the heart of Vieux Lille. Charming hotel with a nice renovated lobby. Small room up the tower - 3 flights of stairs- but a nice view on the back of the cathedral. No coffee or tea in the room. Nice staff and overall a good experience.

Hotel very clean. Nice complimentary body wash and shampoo (l'Occitane). Unfortunately the room (double) was a bit pokey which meant that to get anywhere you have to shuffle around. No air con so little control over temperature of the room.

Despite being advertised as having a desk, this was not the case. There would have been no room in the room to include a desk. There was something like looked like a quarter-sized bureau with no chair... perhaps that's what they meant. Also no kettle. Due to the small size of the room, the wardrobe was half size deep and couldn't really hold any clothes.

Lovely hotel in the old part of town. I had a view of the church outside my window. Room was small on the fourth floor, good bath and shower, bed comfortable.
Breakfast is available however I choose to eat out.
I enjoyed my time here and would gladly return.

The hotel is nice, with some delightful quirky touches. However, there's a bar somewhere nearby which made the room really noisy - and still going past 2am on Sunday morning. Not wanting to stop people enjoying themselves, but some soundproofing would help!

Also, it's difficult to park outside, so perhaps a free pass to the nearby underground parking?

Good hotel in a good location

Hotel was very clean and tidy. Room a little on the small size but for the price good value. Only downside is that there is no air conditioning and it was very hot in the room due to the hot weather. Opening the window was fine but if you're not use to a city noise environment then sleeping can be disturbed. However, the hotel is in a good location and the staff were very helpful and wanting your stay to be a good one in Lille.

First class staff, so friendly and helpful in beautifully decorated hotel and wonderful location. Air con in bedrooms would have been wonderful as extremely hot whilst there. Breakfasts were very good with plenty of choices to help yourself to. Good value and a very pleasant stay.

This hotel is situated in the heart of lille. If you have a street facing room., prepare for the early morning call from the street cleaners from 6am. Breakfast is very basic. No hot food at all and have to make your own tea. The room was very clean however and the bed comfortable. The concierge are helpful though in recommending places to eat and giving local information.

Great Location and Really Nice Hotel

Everything was great. Service friendly and helpful. Location was great. Breakfast very good. Bed very comfortable. Could not have been better. 5 minute easy walk to Grand Place and all the action, but not in the middle of everything..a nice distance away. No air conditioning was the only setback, but had a comfortable stay as the evening cooled off nicely and street noise quieted. Would definitely stay again.

The staff were very nice and polite but the room was very uncomfortable and at night it was very noisy. There furnishings were very paltry, the towels and bedding were thin and uncomfortable, the hairdryer was pathetic, the room was sparsely furnished and there was no kettle or ironing board. The shower head fell on my partner's hand and caused her quite a painful injury. The hotel was too expensive to be this cheap.

Good location but candlelight

The hotel is very chic, ideal location to visit Lille and go out to eat, drink and shop. Room was a bit sma but the bed big and comfortable. My main complain is the light, we could barely see inthe bathroom as there are only two lights next to the mirror. For a woman, it is imposible to put your make up on. Same poor light in the beroom. Apparently clean but if you get close it is very dusty in the corners, also bath and screen needed a proper wipe. The lack of light was masking out...Really annoying you can't see in the bedroom and inthe bathroom so you can't get ready properly! Staff friendly. Corridors very noisy as I was woke up by next door room several times. Not a good night sleep.

Sadly a double bed in a standard single room leaves no room to turn around. I must remember to book a double room for single occupancy. Otherwise excellent service with first class breakfast. I have used this hotel several times and I hope to use it again.

near a lot of restaurants. I have never before stayed in a hotel where the beds were 12 inches from the wall and I had to walk sideways to get past! The room at the back of the building was very quiet and the beds very comfortable. There is a very big lounge area on the ground floor but as they serve only breakfast its only purpose seems to be a waiting area for guests although I suppose it could be used for meetings of a few people.
The major problem they have to deal with is breakfast. It is buffet style with adequate choice however the servicing is poor and properly down to unsupervised staff so it should be fixable. E.g There is a single coffee pot for guests to serve themselves but when empty the staff have to be told. Individual fruit bowls were very popular but not replenished. There is a rechauffer with scrambled eggs and bacon but either it was broken or not switched on because the food was cold unless you got to it when it was replenished. These are just examples. The breakfast room is not large and we witnessed guests having to wait for a table.
We stayed for three days and saw a gradual deterioration in breakfast so as we left I found the manager and he promised to fix the breakfast problems. I may well go back in the future to see whether there is an improvement because it has a good location and I should like to stay there.

Pleasant hotel. The rooms are very small, but clean. We only stayed one night at the beginning of a tour and a night at the end of the tour. We would not have wanted to stay longer because the rooms were so small. As well, the bathrooms were very small, but clean.

Rooms are cramped, breakfast is awful. They didn't have the room we booked when we got there. Only had a double, not two twins. But if visiting Lille again would stay there. Staff were so nice.

Great Christmas Holiday

We went to Lille for a short holiday and we loved the hotel, in the centre of this town that could have been stolen from a Charles Dickens story, specially during Christmas. We also went a day to Paris, which is only two hours by car. Perfect town, don't forget to visit the Citadel. The only disappointment was, that the internet connection was lost on the last two days, but they gave us a free breakfast for that. In short it was a perfect holiday for a very reasonable price.

Stayed one night when Everton played Lille. Nice little hotel. Was a bit wary as didn't read reviews before booking but place was perfectly fine. Didn't have all the mod cons of big chains but was very central. Took us a while to find it in the warren of streets that is the old town but once we got our bearings was handy to get about. Only drawback was our room was on 3rd floor of the Tower part of the hotel which had no lift which was a bit annoying for my mate who had a hip operation a couple of months ago if we had been stating more than one night it would have been an issue. All in all decent for a short stay.

A lovely hotel newly decorated and with friendly staff. Room was a little compact with high quality furnishings- only comment really is: they may want to reconsider the bathroom layout! Breakfast was very good with a generous choice.
Located in the centre of town made it perfect for shopping, seeing the sights and going out for dinner. Highly recommended.

Convenient Hotel

Our stay at this hotel was our first visit to Lille, we wanted to experience the flea market. The hotel was well located for us to be able to walk everywhere & better still where we could have a break from the millions outside in the street!! We were lucky to have a room at the back of the hotel on the forth floor but still the noise & the room being very hot we had difficulty sleeping, another couple we spoke to who were facing the street had no sleep & like us were not overly impressed with the whole flea market bit.

Bad news

If you have negative prejudices of the French that you seek to reinforce, stay here. The front desk person responded to the first sentence of my rusty French by indicating - \"speak English - it will be easier.\" We were unaware that our room was not accessible by elevator, only by winding stairs. My husband, due for a hernia operation, could not carry bags. When asked if we could get a room reached by elevator, he shuffled papers and mumbled he could carry them b/c \"after all, it is my job.\" Room is teeny tiny. My husband gashed his head on the large hook on the bathroom door. Breakfast is mediocre at best. Go elsewhere.

Comfortable, chic, small hotel, center-ville vieux Lille

Center \"vieux Lille\" hotel recently completely re-decorated in gorgeous, relaxing neutrals with quality furniture and furnishings! Lobby is superb. Very comfortable, cosy, relaxing small hotel, right in the middle of the old part of Lille. Our room was very quiet (facing rear). Bed was wonderful! Warm welcome, our small dog was welcomed too-- no charge. Breakfast buffet generous and well-presented. Parking nearby was no problem, not expensive. We visited Lille Art Fair at the Grand Palais. Fun.
Hotel is just short of luxurious as was missing a few touches.

After few hotel nights in London and in Paris, this was a heaven with a bath tub, but like most hotels in France, there is hardly any privacy for you can hear all that goes on next door. hotel breakfast was clearly over before I got down, meaning there was very little choice, and no one looked interested in filling what was missing.

We enjoyed a 3 night break over the weekend of the Braderie. The hotel was very well placed for looking round the Braderie. Our room was a little small but very well appointed. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite and breakfast was good. We knew that the rooms had been recently refurbished and were advised that the rest of hotel was being refurbished including the outside, which will certainly improve the overall look of the hotel. i would recommend the hotel to a friend and would definitely stay there again

Great refurbished hotel in the heart of Vieux Lill

Fantastic hotel right in the heart of 'Vieux Lille'. Since I stayed just over a year ago, the hotel has undergone a major refurbishment of all the bedrooms. Previously just clean and functional, now the hotel has a boutique feel, but with the same great service and astonishingly, no upping of the prices! I've stayed in 4* hotels that were far worse than this! Definitely recommended.

Great little hotel. Secure underground parking 100m from the main entrance @ 15 Euro for 24 hrs.

Lovely rooms, service and the buffet breakfast was excellent.

Ideal location. The Sunday market was 200m from the hotel and the general feel to Lille was wonderful.

We will be going back when it's a little warmer as we literally decided to stop over on our way home from our skiing trip the day before.

Very friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. I had a single room which was fine, my only criticism is that the bathroom was rather cramped, but it was well supplied with shower gel, shampoo, etc. and the cleaning staff were very efficient. Good quality self-service buffet breakfast included the option of scrambled egg and bacon as well as a good choice of other options. The hotel is situated on the edge of the old town and the location seemed quite quiet. All in all a very pleasant stay in a very good value hotel.

Ideally situated for all bars, restaurants, shops etc. Didn't do breakfast as far too expensive for what you get, car parking very poor, the underground car park was closed(£14/day) so found a place up behind the Ibis Budget hotel, quite a long walk.The hotel rooms are nice but dont have air conditioning so we had to leave windows open which is noisy, very noisy as hotel is in middle of a square, dust carts and street cleaners start really early.

Hotel rooms clean and tidy. Breakfast room under renovation so non existent. Wi fi is advertised as free but is 9 euros in your room and only free in the unusable ground floor. Staff polite but disinterested rather akin to a chain, not an independent. However, the big negative is the parking. Very few spaces in the public square limited to one hour so you have to return every hour to put a 2 euro ticket on the car. All in all I was rather disappointed. I have stayed in 10 hotels over the past 3 weeks including chains and this is the only one that I would not return to.

Old Quarter Lille

An excellent French 3 star hotel with character. Set in the older part of Lille surrounded by cobbled streets and yet just a short walk from the Eurostar Station. The two streets by the hotel have a fantastic choice of restaurants, bars or eateries from finest Oyster/Champagne bar to lively young cafes all within a few minutes stroll. We asked for a room overlooking the Cathedral at the rear which was quieter than facing the front.
The hotel is in the process of being refurbished working from top to botton so our room on 4th floor was completely new, cosy with smart decor. Lovely bath room. Decorators working on 3rd floor on their way down. We enjoyed the breakfast which we thought very reasonably priced. Very Helpful Engish speaking staff.

The double room we have been given is very small, I should have paid for single room to be honest. Overall it has a good location and newly decorated.

Great little hotel that is located in a great part of the city. You can walk everywhere. Tons of restaurants and shops less than 5 minutes walking. Only complaint was no air conditioning and no wi fi. Hotel staff was supe nice and ver willing to help find a good place to eat or have a drink.

Check-in not very satisfactory.

On arrival, we were kept waiting for some time while the receptionist (friendly but disorganised) um-ed and ah-ed about which room to give us as the room originally allotted to us was rather small. The first room we were given the key to contained someone else's belongings. The second smelt strongly of cigarettes. The third was the one we had originally been allotted! It was absolutely fine. Nice decor, comfortable bed and generously sized bathroom looking on to inner courtyard with a tuneful blackbird to wake us in the morning. The hotel is in the middle of the old town and surrounded by boutiques and lovely streets.

Hotel de la Treille is a winner!

The hotel is in an excellent position in the old town enabling you to walk to all the places of interest. The quality of the continental breakfast was excellent and in the evening there are a lot of restaurants and bars very close to the hotel. The only small drawback is parking but there is an underground car park within 400 metres that costs 15 euros for 24 hours.

Fantastic Location

Always enjoy this hotel....love the location. They are undergoing renovations which will make it even better. The gentleman at the front desk are most kind and always very helpful.

Charming central hotel

Hotel staff are very friendly and cheerful. Hotel is ideally placed in the old town for wandering and very close to secure parking. We had rooms that overlooked the inner courtyard and the cathedral and these were very quiet even with the balcony windows open.
Breakfast was good but get there early if you want bacon and eggs for breakfast! The crepes were an unusual and pleasant addition to the buffet.

Nice but Loud

This was a fine hotel to stay at for the weekend. The room was clean, the people at the reception were nice. However, two complaints: First, the elevator smelled like urine. Fortunately, I was on the first floor so I just made sure to take the stairs. Second, the walls are very thin, so you will be able to hear the muffled conversations and TVs of the other guests on your floor, and you will also know it when anyone else in the hotel takes a shower or flushes the toilet. All in all, I'd probably stay there again if ever go back to Lille for a night or two if the price remains low.

Lille: Vieux Lille area

Fantastic location and good hotel in this very interesting and attractive city. Good for a city break or romantic weekend, lots to see all within a compact area and loads of nice little shops and eating places. I wish we had had another day and would go back in the Spring..
Room, clean and perfectly adequate, if a little small but what you would expect for 3*.

Lille Xmas Market

Lille Xmas market was good but small. Location of Hotel was excellent and most sights are within walking distance. Lille has a good selection of restaurants.
Hotel Treille room was very small. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly and helpful.

Hotel de la Treille- central to all sights.

Staff were all very helpful and courteous. The buffet breakfast was excellent - lots of choice, well presented, can't fault it. Had issues with noisy revellers passing the hotel at night (we had a front facing bedroom) Party-goers were still around at 3.30 in the morning! After the first night, a hasty purchase of ear plugs enabled me to get some sleep on the second night. But then , it was a weekend. The hotel is extremely convenient for all the sights - only a ten minute walk to the station and other tourist spots very close. Tram & metro very easy to use and plenty of buses around. Would certainly use the hotel again if we return to Lille.

Fine for a night, for location alone.

The hotel is in a perfect location< 15min walk for Lille Europe, 10 mins from centre of town, and some lovely restaurants near by. Room though very dissappointing, tired decor, worn very basic furniture and no tea or coffee making facilities in room. Clean but afraid funny smell of cleaning fluids.
The buffet breakfast was good with a large selection of food choice and staff very helpful.
All in all fine for a one night stay as location is so good, but a little too tired and basic for me, and would not have been happy if I had booked to stay for a longer holiday.

Hotel de la Treille

The hotel is in an amazing location, right in the centre. Just make sure you ask for a room facing one of the back streets, or the inner courtyard - mine was facing the main street and it was very loud. Breakfast overpriced for what they give you, you would probably be better off grabbing some food in one of the cafes.

AVOID if you can.

Absolutely disappointing! I decided to take a chance despite the reviews..... bad idea!
We arrived at 12.30pm only to be told by a very rude unapolegetic mature manager that our room won't be ready till an hour later.
Upon our return a couple of hours later,we had to drag our suitcases through very narrow -whitehouse like stairs- right up to the very top floor to a tiny stale smelling room with no tea/coffeee facilities and not worth watching tv.
The younger man at the desk when we checked out was much pleasant but the overall service was terrible.The old town location of the hotel is lovely and a short distance to the man square. We had a lovely meal at a nice restaurant few doors away next door to a cake shop.
Lille is such a beautiful city....BUT definatley not staying at this hotel again!

A good hotel in a great location ......

This was our second stay at the Hotel de la Treille. It is ideally situated in Lille's Old Town and only a 15 minute walk from the Eurostar station. The rooms aren't large but they are comfortable, and we found our first floor room at the back overlooking the Cathedral to be quiet. Our bathroom was well-appointed but contained the only mirror, as there wasn't one in the room. Unfortunately, this time mosquitoes were a problem! There was a good choice at breakfast, including fruit juices, tea, coffee, cereals, various types of bread and pastries, cheese, ham and yogurts. One criticism - the coffee wasn't always hot. The staff were pleasant and very helpful, especially Manu. Overall, we felt we got good value for money. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others. We understand the hotel will shortly be undergoing refurbishment and hope this will include proper wardrobes rather than just the hanging space as at present.
