This is a nice hotel. It is very convenient for the city centre, but you get what you pay for. It was an economical choice and that shows. I stayed for two nights and that was fine. Longer, and I would have unhappy. It may have just been my room, but I would hear everyone else’s plumbing, whether that was shower at one in the morning, or a bath at five in the morning, hence, not much sleep. But overall, if you are looking for a cheap, city centre hotel, I would recommend this one.

Pleasant stay, great location

Really pleasant staff, friendly welcome, smart and clean (our room on 1st floor seemed to have had a recent revamp, totally new bathroom). Hotel has character, great location too. They did their absolute best to compensate for lack of airco with fans and anti mosquito plug-in, etc! No view unfortunately, just a wall.

I would highly recommend this property. I had gotten stuck at the train station (and had a very bad day) and booked the hotel late at night. When I got there the man behind the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. He offered me a room upgrade and the bed was so so comfy after a long day. The room was beautiful with nice art and detailing (wall paper, bathroom tile and fixtures). Additionally, I needed a toothbrush (because my bag was lost on a bus) and some band aids for blisters on my feet and they provided them kindly. The following day they let me work from the breakfast room on my laptop so I could enjoy the lovely views of the Cathedral across the street. Needless to say this hotel was the best part of my journey.

A decent budget hotel in an excellent location.

This is a clean, but fairly basic hotel. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was attractive with a good shower and decorative tiling on the floor. It is centrally located, near the Gare de Lille Flandres and the old town. Breakfast was not great. The bread and croissant were fresh and the coffee good, but it was all served on a small tray, which made it feel like an airline meal.

A gem tucked away down a side street of Lille,

This hotel was ideal for a short stay in Lille. It exceeded our expectations for a two star hotel and I would certainly recommend it. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good with everything set out on individual trays. Ideal location for walking into the centre of town and exploring.

The location was ideal. Within walking distance from Eurail station and very close to the main train station too. Everything you need close by. Our room had its own bathroom. The only downside is how small the shower is. But it is a good, clean choice. The room looked on the St. Maurice church across the street.

Great location in the city center and yet in a quite street across from a church. The hotel is in an old building with a feeling of history. the breakfast is nice, the staff are all pleasant and helping. The room is not big but ok and clean.
The only thing to improve is the decoration in the room. All the walls are white with no pictures at all so it is too white

Dirty small very loud I could actually say ancient rooms. Mould everywhere. You can hear everything from any other rooms. It was terrible mistake to book a room there. And for parking you need to pay 17 euros

We had a very pleasant few days in this hotel, which is in quiet street opposite a church and very convenient for the old town in Lille and all attractions. Easy to walk everywhere and to get to local station for trips on train, metro and tram outside of central Lille eg. Roubaix, LAM.

Incredibly central location, basic and small room with a hard bed (not surprising in Europe) and tiny bathroom. But quiet room and friendly staff, so no complaints. Would definitely stay again on another visit to the city, as the location was ideal for walking around to all the main sites, museum and old parts of town.

Ideal for a mini- break

This is the second time I have stayed here. It is a basic hotel but the bed is comfortable and it's extremely convenient for the station, the shops and the old town. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is extra, so I didn't have that, preferring to make my own arrangements.

Stayed in Hotel Saint Maurice for 2 nights. Very appropriate hotel for a short stay. Friendly reception, clean, decent room facilities, excellent location in the heart of Lille and close to the train station, bus station, large shopping centre. Free WiFi was very useful, of good quality; however you need to re-sign in every time you want to use it which is very annoying.

\"Quaint\" -- that's the word you want to use. Some will be put off by how small the rooms are, how ramshackle the place might feel. I look at it as a 19th century building doing decent service as a cheap place to stay right in the heart of Lille, a short walk from the train stations. It's a bit noisy, definitely. On a business trip I'd look elsewhere. But for a cheap place to stay right in the shopping/dining center of Lille and right next to Vieux Lille, this worked for me.

The man on reception who was like a stereotype bored and rude Frenchman. My missing key problem was only resolved when the charming owner walked by and sorted everything out. (It was the receptionists error, not suprising as he spent every moment looking at the internet on his computer).
There also was a problem with the WiFi when I was there.I could'nt tell whether this was a one off or is a regular occurance.

Perfect for a short break

This is an ideal hotel for a short break in Lille. It is a few minutes from the station and right near the historic centre. It is right opposite the church of St Maurice which makes for easy navigation and an attractive view. The area was surprisingly quiet despite being so central, though I did stay midweek. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable - the most comfortable mattress I think I have ever had in a hotel, it was like mine at home! The staff were friendly and helpful. Payment for the room needs to be made on arrival and for some reason my credit card would not work in the machine. However the man on the desk was most understanding and there is an ATM just down the street!

Unfortunately the wifi was not working and \" high speed wifi\" was highly advertised when booking the room. The room was a bit smelly, the fluorescent light above the bed was flickering so I had to keep that light off. Also the doors are fire doors and very heavy so they slam every time someone comes in and out of the room ( which is unpleasant at 6am in the morning ). My room was right next the door leading to the stairs which made a huge noise when people were leaving. I was not very happy about it because I went there to work and was exhausted. One last thing, I asked the receptionist if we can order hot drinks and he said yes so I asked for a tea and ended up waiting for ten minutes while he served other people. Eventually I gave up and went to bed thinking he would call my room when he had made it for me, but no.

There is a significant gap between the descriptions and pictures on the web and reality!! The room, bed, furniture, wall paint, floor and the hotel public areas (though probably cleaned) were deplorable! -- even in comparison with my college dormitory room -- in India!! The only redeeming qualities, if any were the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff and the location!

Très mauvaise insonorisation. Pas de sécurité la nuit : une femme est rentrée dans l’hôtel derrière nous et personne n’était à l’accueil pour surveiller. Une femme de ménage est rentrée dans notre chambre à 11h30 alors que nous avions jusqu’à 12h pour partir et que nous avions mis la pancarte ne pas déranger.

La chambre était petite mais impeccable,
Très belle vue sur l église.
Très bien situer 5-10 min max de la grande place à pied, 2 min de la gare de Flandre, 3 min d’euralille et beaucoup de rue marchande autour.
Des places de parking autour de l’hôtel mais il faut avoir de la chance.
Quartier calme mais évitez la gare le soir.

Très sympa pour un court séjour dans Vieux-Lille

- Emplacement 5/5: A deux pas de la gare et à proximité immédiate du Vieux-Lille. Les abords de la gare souffrent parfois d'une fréquentation problématique mais ça ne pose pas de problème aux heures de grand passage.
- Accès 5/5: facile à trouver, possède un (petit) ascenseur.
- Accueil 5/5: Equipe sympathique et attentionnée.
- Propreté 5/5: Espaces communs et chambre nickel à tout moment.
- Literie 4,5/5: Matelas et oreillers très confortables. Si besoin, couvertures extras sont fournies. Seul point d'attention : le lit double est relativement petit (sûrement du 140x90). C'est une taille acceptable mais les grands gabarits risquent de se sentir légèrement à l'étroit. Ça reste parfait pour un court séjour.
- Chambre 4,5/5: la chambre standard sur rue sans vis-à-vis, donnant directement sur l'église est vraiment au top! Elle est un peu petite et les rangements sont peu nombreux mais pour un court séjour c'est très bien. D'autres équipements peuvent être mis à disposition sur demande.
- Salle de bains 4/5: Très fonctionnelle et lumineuse, la pression de l'eau est parfaite et les équipements sont de qualité et en excellent état. Sa forme en longueur en fait une petite salle de bains bien optimisée. Les seuls points faibles sont la porte en accordéon et les bruits d'écoulement d'eau.
- Insonorisation (2/5) : Seule ombre au tableau. Bruits venant du couloir car portes anciennes qui claquent fort et n'isolent pas du bruit.
Globalement très bon rapport qualité-prix. Bon séjour !
