We stayed here with a friend for two nights in a twin room. After reviewing the photos, we had a preference for a specific room and called reception a couple of weeks before arrival. They kindly secured it for us, which we really appreciated.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

What we loved:
Great location, everything we wanted to do was within a 15-minute walk. We liked the industrial, retro décor . Although the room was small (as expected), it was well organised with practical areas. The room was very clean, the multi function head shower was good, and the complimentary water was appreciated.

What could be improved:
The mattress felt quite worn. A kettle and coffee machine would help elevate the stay. Adding bath handles could improve safety, and the toilet felt quite low against standard sizes. Soundproofing between rooms is limited, though we understand this may be due to the age of the building.

Hotel is in a great location, just a few minuets walk from shops, bars and restaurants. The only slight issue is that its located in a pedestrian area only. So, you need to park in one of the nearby carparks and walk a short distance.
It's a lovely old hotel, but the rooms are modern, clean and spacious. There is a continental breakfast which is also good.

Wonderful 4 night stay. Perfect location in old town to explore by foot. Very walkable city.
Short walk from EuroLille and Flanders stations. No need for cabs/public transport.
Plenty of restaurants and bars in all directions.
Right next to beautiful church (so magnificent we thought it was the cathedral)
Quaint and quirky hotel. No needs unmet. Staff were lovely and the breakfast was wonderful.

Friendly hotel in the middle of Lille downtown

The hotel is located in the old town of Lille. First, the good thighs: excellent staff. Very friendly and helpful. I got an early breakfast with a full selection of delicious food, as I needed to leave early.
My single-bed room was just opposite the elevator and loud from all sides. Also, all guests using the elevator or steps were to hear clearly. The ceiling creaked when guests walked above me, it was to hear all the flushing of the rooms around, and also from the outside, the street noises were loud till 1 a.m. The shower is suitable for thin guests only, as the entrance to it is very narrow.
However, for a night to sleep over due to the general strike in France, it was just fine.

I normally love the Brughel, the staff and the feel of the hotel are generally excellent. This time I had a noisy room, lots of intrusive water noise from drains from showers and WC's in floors above. Ive stayed before but room 103 was a problem.

The hotel room was comfortable and relaxing. Please note, that this hotel does not have a restaurant or a bar as advertised, infact the receptionist told us, it hasn't had a bar for many years. The hotel is very near to the town, so restaurants can be reached very quickly. This area is busy and can become noisy during the evenings and night times. Lille is a walkable city and because we walked everywhere managed to have good night sleeps.

Overall the hotel is fine. The toilet is located in small closet. Bed was wonderful and is literally a couple minute walk from Flanders station. Lots of dinning options. Can be noisy outside and no air conditioning. It gets warm in hotel even on cool days. If you have the window open there is a lot of noise all hours.

The hotel was ‘quirky’ - lots of ephemera around - pictures, ornaments etc. But that is why we chose it.The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.The lift was from an another era, but in a good way. The breakfast was ok. It was situated within walking distance of the main tourist destinations.

Close to both railway stations which while it is convenient there are a few beggars to contend with. I am a solo traveller and I did not feel overly concerned as there was a large security or police presence. Room clean bed comfortable.

The hotel was convenient to walk to from the Eurostar station. It was easy to get to the main square for the Christmas market. Breakfast was good though there was a selection of cafes not too far away in which to get a café and croissant.
The room was small. There wasn’t much room to get in and out of the bed. The bathroom was large and airy.

This is a fantastic hotel in the rich tradition of European hotels. The public spaces are comfortable and welcoming, there were several couples playing card or board games upon our arrival. The Staff are very good, very helpful and always ready to offer directions or suggestions. The location is ideal, close to the main square, shopping and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and very clean.

This is a wonderful old Art Neuveau place, well-maintained, updated as to plumbing, etc., and featuring a vintage elevator that gets you and your luggage where you're going.
We had a view if St. Maurice (next door,) that couldn't be beat, and found that everything we needed was close by in the shopping streets and shady squares of Lille.

There were seven of us staying in Lille at The Bruegel hotel all having separate rooms. The check in was very good and efficient.
The Bruegel hotel is well situated in the city only a 10 minute walk from the Eurostar station and easy access to the metro.
There is plenty to do in Lille, shopping, sightseeing the Palais de beaux arts is well worth a visit.
Lastly, there are many restaurants so there is no need to go hungry.

A gem with a few flaws

First, the bad. This hotel is very basic in what a hotel is supposed to offer: a place to store your belongings, to sleep for the night, and to maintain oneself (bathing, toilet, etc.). This hotel provides these things, but only just enough to pass. For example, there's a bed, but no headboard. There's a shower, but barely enough room to turn around. There's a desk, but it's tiny. As I said, the basics are all there, but it's all just barely passing. Another negative are the thin walls. You can hear others in the rooms above and adjacent. For me, it wasn't so bad during the day when everyone is out and about, but you could hear everything. This can be problematic if you're a light sleeper. A final negative is the wifi. I could only connect one device at a time, so I had to choose between my phone and my laptop.

But now let's get to the good stuff. The first thing is the location. This hotel is literally in the middle of it all. As soon as you step outside, you could go any direction and you'll be on your way to the sights and sounds of the city. This hotel is one block from where the \"main\" action is in Lille, and about a 10 minute walk to Vieux Lille. Next is the staff. The people who work at this hotel are absolutely wonderful. They're very welcoming and friendly. With 62 rooms, I was impressed that they remembered who I was and what room I was in. So, in all, if you're just using your room as a place to store your stuff, sleep, and shower, this hotel is a great choice.

We had a nice stay last weekend. The checkin was very efficient, all of the staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. Our only issue is that you can hear other guests very clearly in the hallway at all times of day and night. Otherwise, it is comfy and great location for getting around Lille.

Very pleasant place, and centrally located in the town. Quite small, a little quirky - tiny lift for instance. Staff on reception very welcoming. Rooms fine but not exactly huge. We had a \"superior\" room - our friends standard rooms were quite small. We did find on the last day that ours had a damp patch behind the bed where water was seeping though the outside wall, which was making the pillows damp - we did report this, but it wasn't good. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon. Pleasant breakfast, although the buffet area was crowded and the tables rather squeezed in. One of the staff on breakfast duty could do with a little training on developing a welcoming attitude! But it wasn't a big deal. Overall, it was quite good value. I'd be happy to recommend and to return.

Old charm in need of modern bathroom

We stayed at rue ghee hotel for 3 nights for a long weekend in Lille. It is very well located being very close to the Vieux Lille, the restaurants and the sightseeings. Our room was facing the square and it was warm, so with the window opened it an get noisy. Most staff were welcoming but not all! Hotel has a old charm but rooms could benefit from a refurbishment especially the bathrooms.

However ... when we arrived, the hotel had no reservation for us... They could not find our booking..
The room was very clean, with a comfortable bed but very very tiny. The bed was stuck between the walls. A bit tricky when you are claustrophobic !
Bathroom is lovely but very very small with no door : zero privacy and not pleasant to shower when the other person is watching tv or sleeps!
Good point : separate toilets.
There was no wardrobe, zero space to put luggage.
We had to ask for another shower towel as there was only one.
I think this bedroom is intended for only 1 people, not a couple. They sold it as a double but i wouldn’t say it's a double.

The hotel was not to blame for the couple in the next door room who had a blazing argument until 6am one morning; true, they were French, but that is not an authentic holiday experience one would relish.

Mini-series hotel

We arrived to find a film crew occupying the foyer so had to fight through a crowd of actors to check in. They were making a mini-series about Charles De Gaulle who was born in Lille. It was all good humoured and we got a key quickly and took the (ancient) lift to floor 6. The room was quite small and the shower cramped but they were clean and modern. It was OK for one night.hey

stations. Three minute walk to Grand Place. The hotel
was comfortably old fashioned. No air conditioning
(despite Hotel.com claiming it had it) Our first night
was very hot and they had run out of fans. The lovely
lady at the reception was kind enough to give up the
one she was using. All staff were genuinely friendly,
helpful people. Not the phoney kind of “I say the right
thing because I’m trained to” robots working front
desks of many large hotels.

This property is in an excellent location for all the sight-seeing you're likely to do and very comfortable. It was however quite noisy during what was a hot weekend which needed windows open, so that should be borne in mind. Breakfast ingredients superior to other hotels I've stayed in but not the greatest value for money at 11 euros - 10 would 'sound' better!

Great Location

Hotel Brueghel was in a great location, close to all shops, restaurants and bars. Everything is in easy walking distance so was nice just walking around taking in the culture. We had a twin room which was snug but cute and had everything we needed for a few days stay. We had a small bath with a shower attachment which was fine but maybe not ideal if you like your showers. Towels were changed every day. Lille was a great place to visit and this hotel was a good choice for ease, location and also the price.

The best bed I've ever slept on!

Though my own bed/mattress is quite expensive, the experience of sleep at Hotel Brueghel has been extraordinary. I've never slept so comfortably in my life! The room was absolutely quiet, the staff most friendly and the whole atmosphere lovely.

Very nice hotel, quarter of an hour's walk from Eurostar terminal, and in Lille old town. Right next to a huge spectacular church, and all the major sights and lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. Good breakfast. Nice rooms. my only slight reservations were the lack of a fixed shower (you just have to hold the shower head, in the bath) in our room, and a problem of noise from the room above late at night, which surprised us as the rooms are high and the walls solid.
