Difficult to find as a few roads were blocked, once there all good. Reception was prompt and efficient, car was valet parked, escorted to room and room itself was excellent. In the old building, lots of history. Had a coffe in the atrium bar excellent.

This is by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in Europe! When they say five stars, they mean it!!! As soon as we walked into the hotel, we were warmly greeted. The staff is exemplary and immediately makes you feel like a valued guest! The gentleman checking us walked us to our room, turned on the lights, and showed us some of the amenities on our way to our room. The room is so comfortable and beautiful! Even the room coffee and filtered water are wonderful details that exceed any other hotel! The architecture is a masterpiece as they retro fit this luxury hotel into an existing building. The art in the hallways, the centered lounge, and spa are so classy and chic! I’m thankful that I got to rest here after three tiring days of exploring Christmas Markets in Belgium and Germany. This hotel sets the gold standard!

customer service needs to improve

This was our 2nd stay for the Braderie and the hotel is clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and all very stylish.

The service however was bad. The maid left our room completely unlocked 3 times. We alerted reception but each day had to request refreshed glasses/mugs and to lock the room. I met the maid and asked her and after that she left the full set of skeleton keys for the hotel in our unlocked door.

The bar manager was aloof and too busy chatting with his colleague to serve anyone promptly. A few other guests complained.

The night manager was gracious and pleasant clearly properly trained to work in hospitality and comped us breakfast and a few other things so all ok in the end We paid up the night before we left.

On leaving 3 grown men at reception watched idly whilst we made 3 trips to our car - pretty poor. And if you are going to speak critically about your customers on earshot make sure they don't speak french. Not what I would expect from a Marriott

When I checked out I was asked if I enjoyed my stay and I can say that I answered with honesty when I said YES. All in all I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

Feedback for the hotel as follows:

Staff were exceptional. Very polite and helpful.

Facilities are getting tired. If this Hotel wants to retain its 5* rating and measure up to other 5* hotels then they need to invest.

1st room we had had faulty AC. Staff, being excellent as ever, immediately moved us to another room. Here we had working AC but the curtains did not fully shut properly or meet in the middle so we had daylight streaming in first thing in the am. Small issue but also very easy to fix.

The decor is starting to look very dated with threadbare carpets in the halls etc.

The building itself is fantastic and with some investment in decor this could be a truly amazing destination hotel.

Aside of the wearing furnishings, some small details like addressing the lack of cushions on the outdoor plastic rattan seats in the courtyard should be very simple to fix.

Last recommendation - the weekend piano player in the lounge just seems very dated. No offence to him, he was good but it was like being transported to business hotel in the 90s :-)

Anyway, this is also just personal feedback and I go back to my initial point. We very much enjoyed the stay. The hotel is in great location, the staff are great and Lille itself is an absolute hidden gem. We will be back!

A beautiful hotel within a few minutes walk of the main square and old city of Lille. The hotel is sited in a former hermitage and lots of original features have been retained. It’s like staying in modern hotel with a museum attached and is fascinating to walk round. The staff could not have been more friendly, professional and helpful. The pool and spa were very welcome after a wintry day in the city. The only slight issue we had was in the restaurant where our order was somehow lost and we were unable to have our original choice of food. However, the staff were apologetic and we left satisfied.

The team at the hotel were amazing. They lets us check in before 3pm after a very early start to the day. The room was so comfortable and spacious. It was made up every day when we came home in the afternoon - this is a rarity in hotels these days. The hotel is walkable to all parts of the city and in a great location for the metro which is two stops from Lille Europe. Pool and steam room were never that busy and I nice way to start the day or unwind in the afternoon. Would definitely stay again.

We had interconnecting rooms which was perfect for our family. However one of the showers was weak and not up to standard.

The pool and spa was very clean. For the size and standard of hotel, perhaps more facilities like more showers and amenities would have been even better

A really unique characterful property. Good faciliites and the pool and steam room were nice. The midday checkout meant we got opportunity to use them. The breakfast was quite poor given the room rate. We weren't offered fresh coffee, until the nespresso stopped working and the cooked breakfast was very poor quality.

No assistance in Spa to know what to fo with covid restrictions. Shower over over bath inadequate. No price sheets for mini bar or information in room. Very small room. Expected more for 5*. Not happy about €100 deposit being deducted and not immediately refunded. Fantastic venue and facilaties.

The property is great but slightly underwhelmed with the facilities in the room and breakfast.

A kettle in the wardrobe with instance coffee and UHT cream is not in-keeping with your second most premium room- I would expect a coffee machine with it's own area, biscuits etc...

The breakfast really was disappointing and had we of know we would have chosen a room without breakfast option. The size of the buffet and variety in relation to the hotel is miles apart... we also had undercooked sausages... not good at all

Beautiful though something is lacking.

While it is a beautiful building the hotel itself does not live up to his potential. While there was nothing glaringly wrong with the hotel it was just not what you would expect from a high quality hotel.

The staff was not rude though they were not overly helpful. They took the bags to the room, though when we got to stairs, they said we needed to carry them. I do not mind taking my bags at all, though if you are going to take the bags to the room, then take them all the way. Otherwise do not pseudo-take the bags to the room.

The room was spacious and quiet, which we appreciated. The bed was very comfortable.
The decor of the room was simple, well kept though old.

We have stayed in this hotel twice and both time because there are not a lot of good hotels in Lille. It is a bit off from the center of the city though no much. Next time we will try another hotel.

We would recommend that you try the hotel, though each time we were left feeling a little disappointed.

Although the hotel was very clean and friendly. It was shameful to see that they advertise the swimming pool as part of the facilities but fail to mention that it costs €25 per day to use and then once in it was cold?
Car parking was then charged at €30 for 1 night stay.
Would not recommend to any others and to keep looking for another luxury hotel in Lille.

Nice hotel but with some annoyances

We had a nice stay in this hotel. Lille is lovely and I'd highly recommend a visit.

The hotel was nice. The standard room was a little small but it was nicely decorated with a comfortable bed and stylish bathroom. The spa and swimming pool are modern and luxurious but small.

There were two annoyances that detracted from the overall experience. On arrival they informed us there was an extra charge for the spa. This was not detailed anywhere and is somewhat ridiculous for a hotel of this standard. On checking out, they waived the fee after some discussion.

There is free WiFi advertised, but on connecting it becomes clear that the free WiFi is speed limited and suitable for \"webmail\" only. You have to pay extra for a decent connection. Again this is ridiculous for a hotel of this standard.

In summary, it's a lovely hotel but their \"Ryanair\" approach to charging is annoying. I probably would not recommend it to a friend.

Lille itself is a jumping off point for other points of interest like the Battlefields tour etc. It's not the prettiest town in Northern France but this hotel is interesting with decent facilities.

Attractive & comfortable hotel with nice pool but spoiled by a ridiculously overpriced bar. (14Euros for two small iced peach teas! 50 E for an ordinary bottle of Rose wine) Staff are very helpful but can come across as uncoordinated and disorganised - especially in the breakfast service. No English language TV channels or pay to view movies available.

If you live architecture this hotel is for you. It is a historic church converted into an ultra modern hotel by basically putting a glass box over the whole thing with the chapel and ballroom intact. Beautiful mini gardens as well as original artwork hanging everywhere. Staff weee lovely. We chose the hotel partly for the spa but it was not open as per the schedule which was disappointing. Shower is inside tub. A little hard to get in and out of but typical of the tall tubs in Europe. I think this is the nicest hotel in Lille.

This is a beautiful hotel. The interior is very tastefully put together. The staff are very pleasant and keen to help and ensure that you enjoy your stay. We did the open top bus tour of the city and the hotel actually forms part of the tour. It's a little bit further out of the main square but it's a pleasant enough walk into the central parts.

Loved this hotel!

Really friendly and helpful staff. Felt like nothing was too much....the kind of hotel where they make you feel like they really are glad you're staying with them. Fascinating architecture and decoration (nice mix old and new), good location (short walk to old town centre) and the spa was lovely (hammam and pool and spa treatments). Would highly recommend!

We thought this was such an amazing hotel and it was great to hear the history which is fascinating. If only we could have stayed longer. Only minor criticizm i s that the hair dryer was attached to the wall in the bathroom so my husband had to wait ages to shower whilst I dried my hair. The tea and coffee making facilities and free wifi was a very nice touch

The hotel is beautiful,the staff friendly & helpful,the restaurant lovely with attractive food but several (expensive) dishes were definitely style over substance,with several tasteless elements. The main problem was the constant,very noisy air con.The lovely atrium type bar/lounge & the indoor pool were the noisiest hotel areas I have ever experienced,& although we turned the air con.off in the room,the ever present hum caused 3 sleepless nights (even with earplugs!)for one of us.And the Alessi plastic chairs in the rooms may be chic & trendy but they are not comfortable.

Something old, something new

L'Hermitage Gantois combines 15th century period architecture with modern additions including a luxury spa and high ceiling converting a courtyard into an atrium. Walking around the communal areas we discovered interesting rooms filled with artworks: it felt like we were staying in an art gallery. The staff were friendly in particular providing information on where best to eat and drink based on our preferences. Our only two gripes were (1) we were not allowed to use pool facilities beyond our check-out time on day of departure and (2) we were wrongly advised about end of breakfast service.

This is the best hotel I have stayed in in Lille in 18 months of regular travel to the city on business. Rooms are generally spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is stupidly expensive at 23 Euro if, like me, you just want a bowl of cereal. Minor niggles: my room on the street was a little noisy and the shower wouldn't adjust position.

Unique and lovely hotel!

We thoroughly enjoyed are stay at the L'Hermitage Gantois. The staff was welcoming, the property is unique and full of history. The room was spacious and the bed really comfortable; which was a big plus! The food in the restraunt was delicious, so our overall experience was quite nice. Based on our visit, we actually chose to stay in another one of their beautiful properties the following night in Rouen.

The staff were outstanding and made us feel very welcome. It was our wedding anniversary and there was a flower and chocolates in the room with a welcome message from the manager. The breakfasts were absolutely scrumptious. Although clean there was some wear and tear in the room - e.g. A chunk out of the bathroom basin and the separate toilet didn't have a washbasin which was awkward walking from the wc to the bathroom to wash your hands. The spa was unique.
In conclusion this was the best hotel in Lille and we loved our stay.

Relaxing weekend break in Lille

This hotel was great for a weekend visit to Lille. It is beautifully decorated with art work and has a spacious and lively bar that offers music performances at various times of the day.The staff is very attentive and pleasant. The in door pool and spa facility are excellent for relaxation. The room was elegantly decorated with comfortable bedding and view of interior garden. The hotel is located within 5-10 minutes walk to old town. Will definitely come back!

Superb hotel

A beautiful hotel in a great location with excellent facilities. There always seemed to be plenty of staff on hand - and always friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the lounge/bar/foyer area - very comfortable with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We booked a superior room which was on the ground floor. The room was compact with nowhere to sit other than on the bed. There was a small lobby and a good sized bathroom but to use the shower one had to climb in and out of the bath which was quite high and the shower head height could not be altered as it kept slipping down. The room was very hot even though we turned the heating off. Bar area was vey nice as was the breakfast room. Service was excellent, valet parking available but expensive! Located about 1km from the lively town centre.

It is really a beautiful place: great, spacious room, courteous staff, extremely accommodating. Warm, cozy atmosphere. Close to the center of the old city and all amenities. Fantastic coffee and drink selection at bar truly unparalleled.
They currently have a sewer issue though. The smell in the bathroom was nauseating and did not disappear for my whole 3 day stay. Showering in there was like torture. To sleep with that smell I had to shut the bathroom door and pack the base of the door with towels and open the window a bit in the middle of winter. I mentioned it to the cleaning staff, left a note in the bathroom: nothing changed. I mentioned it at checkout and he acted only mildly surprised. I believe they are well aware of it. Hopefully this will be sorted in the short term as I would love to return there on my next trip.

Top Hotel

Top hotel, within a minute walk to centre of Lille. Massive rooms, with large beds and very friendly staff. Would highly recommend to a friend.

Only negative was the bar seemed over priced.
