I loved everything about this hotel except the food and dining. Our room wasn’t ready when we checked in and so they encouraged us to go to bar for food and snacks where we waited 30 min and had to ask for a server twice before being told he was busy and the only server (despite having at least 5-6 staff at check-in desk). I also ordered room service with their app as instructed inside room and never received it. We ordered champagne and caviar two hours before a night out and didn’t receive it, and ordered breakfast the next morning three hours before check out and didn’t receive it. When I called about both it seemed like they could have cared less.

The staff are very warm and welcoming. They made us feel really well looked after and seemed to really care that we had everything we needed. Exceptional service. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean and once in the room, it was spacious and comfortable. But The hotel is in a really convenient area - a couple of minutes’ walk from the Eurostar terminal and just ten minutes’ walk to the historic centre.

We have stayed at the hotel numerous times and every stay has been great. Rooms are always immaculately clean, staff are top notch, friendly and very helpful. I must say the hotel staff are absolutely great. Hotel is just across the road from Eurolille station and a very short walk from the grand square. Their restaurants and bars are also extremely good.

Had the air conditioner at the lowest temperature setting and the blinds closed and still couldn’t get the room to a comfortable temperature. Decor is dated. The first junior suite we had the AC was not working so they put us in another one that worked until it shut off in the middle of the night so they moved us to another suite and the AC worked fine but at 3:00AM we woke up because this load noise started like someone outside our room was grinding a medal wheel. Then it turned off four hours later but happened again the following night. The manager was very nice and tried to do everything he could but I slept maybe 6 hours in total for all three nights we were there.

The hotel has a casino, a theatre and is in the good condition, but thats about where the 5 stars end, I would say. There is no pool, no proper spa (only two tiny rooms: one steam room and one sauna, fitting maximum two people each) and an option to have massage on the side. Being a family we have booked a suite and had a room with nice views, however there was nothing you could do with a child in this hotel, or anywhere near.. There was just a shopping mall and a busy train station nearby. I think this hotel might be suited for busy businessmen, but not for families, which is what you would expect from a five star. Also there was a terrible smell of sewage each morning in the breakfast restaurant we had no choice but ignore every day while eating our breakfast. Staff at reception and in room service is very friendly but has very limited English, so I found it hard to communicate with them. We will not be back.

Two items that we'd consider standard were missing from our junior suite: a microwave and an ironing board. The hotel is near the train stations, which is convenient for travel; however, it's also near areas of town that have homeless individuals. This made walking to local restaurants feel unsafe for our family with a young child.

Very nice stay, comfortable and quiet rooms, right next to Lille Europe. There is a small spa area with a sauna/hammam. Only problem is that they provide disposable cups, so when we tried to ask for a real cup and spoon for our tea, they tried to make us pay 5 euros as a crockery fee.

No room service menu in the room and took a while to get one from reception but apart from that, everything was great. The breakfast was amazing too, one of the best hotel buffets I have been too. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Barriere Lille. The hotel is close to the city centre and had a park next to it, along with an adjunct casino. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and modern. All the amenities were provided for and the bed was pretty comfortable. The reception service was very courteous and took the time to explain the main sites upon my arrival. I was also able to stay in the hotel with my dog and found that Lille is quite a dog-friendly city. I did not spend too much time in the casino, but it looked like an ordinary one with many slot machines and electronic table-top games. I was pleasantly surprised by Lille and found the city to be dynamic and the historical sites in the old town to be pleasant and beautiful. The city centre was just about 15 minute walk away and found that the hotel was very well situated for all my needs. I would stay in the hotel again and it was the best choice for my 2-day stay.

We stayed in one of the suites. The large room is lovely, has a massive bed and is nice and bright. The bathroom was wonderful too, with a large bath and a separate walk in shower.
The room was kept well cleaned.

We were disappointed with check in. The room was not ready when we arrived and we were just told to wait and come back later with no apology. Other interactions with the reception staff were pleasant and helpful however.

Convenient and comfortable
We only stayed one night in the Hotel Barriere, so we didn't take much advantage of facilities outside the room. The room itself was one of the best I've stayed in for a long time, and seemed very well designed. The air conditioning took some figuring out (at least we found some instructions in French, but rather too late to avoid a stuffy night). Otherwise it was just the details that need looking at: A leaking showerhead in a very fancy shower, a kettle for those who prefer tea to coffeee, but poor choice of tea and no suitable milk. Also the public men's toilet behind the foyer had two toilet rolls completely empty, and that should have been obvious.
So in summary, a very good hotel, a few minutes' easy walk from the station, and fairly convenient for the centre and old town, but please keep an eye on the small things!

Ideally situated near the Eurostar station and only a 5 minute walk into Town The Willy Brant shopping mall is on the doorstep. The Hotel is beautiful, very attractively decorated with large comfortable beds and contemporary wet room showers. Staff are friendly and multi-lingual and very helpful with all requests. Breakfast was expensive at €32pp but there are plenty of other options locally.

We had a suite and a bedroom, the suite had a very large and nice bathroom. Lots of lights and view. Good service and cleaning level. It is more of a corporate hotel then a romantic one. Good valet parking. Only let down was the 30 minutes waiting time at check out. Just one lady working reception.
