Great location, clean rooms

Good for basic stay, great location. Was abit noisy due to building work outside. Double room was spacious and clean for single person but limited space for family, hotel was eco friendly so there was no hotel amenities in the room. Breakfast was ok.

Novotel Lille Centre Gare review

We have stayed in a few Novotel hotels before and this one wasn’t great. The room was a lot smaller than the one in Novotel Brussels and we were positioned above the restaurant/ bar area, which was noisy. The room was too hot, as the air conditioning had been changed to warm air. We asked for the broken safe in the room to be fixed but this was never done. The floor in the breakfast area was very sticky. As a family we didn’t enjoy our stay here but on a positive, the location is pretty good.

Hôtel toutefois désuet au niveau des chambres : plafond qui décolle dans la salle de bain, verres en plastique, penderie ouverte beaucoup trop petite, pas de tablette pour compenser l'espace pour ranger des vêtements. Réception : étroite, des meubles entravent l'espace lorsque l'on fait le check-in avec nos valises. Ce qui est bon : la gare à 5 min à pieds, ville historique à 10 min. Jeux (ball machine par ex) mais dans la réception. Cet hôtel ne mérite pas ses 4 étoiles, plutôt un faible 3. Elle a besoin de rénovation!!

Hotel was good, location is great. Rooms need a bit of help with the plumbing. Bathroom sink didn’t drain well, needed to tell the front desk to fill the soap dispenser in the bathroom and to swap out towels all of which they did right away.

We were a family of 4 and the room was definitely a little tight once the sofa turned into a bed. The room was clean and the mini fridge items were a nice touch, but the beds were not very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location easily walkable to everything you would want to see in Lille. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Overall just ok mainly because of the beds and room size.

Great Location, but bedrooms need a bit of TLC

The hotel location was very good, as was the reception hall and breakfast area.

The bedrooms were disappointing, needed a good lick of paint! The bathrooms however were okay. Overall the hotel is definitely more fitting of a decent 3 star, than a 4 star hotel.

Desk person was extremely helpful. Business center was broken, so had to email to hotel if wanted anything printed-which is probably a non starter for many. We did not get breakfast there. Downstairs was really nice. Rooms alright. Fitness center fine, although dumbbell sets would help it. Initial deposit (beyond cost) very high, only exceeded by rental car deposit at train station.

Very pleasant hotel - friendly staff are happy to help with any enquiries! Lovely atmosphere in the bar / lobby area. Only a five minute walk from either Gare de Lille Flandres or Gare de Lille Europe (the Eurostar terminal) so this is very convenient for an early departure! For the sightseeing, it is well connected, being only a short walk from the Beffroi and the Old Town, with it's expansive squrares and quaint cafés.

Situation and building were basically good, but let down by poor maintenance. 1. The shower door did not fit properly and water poured out onto the bathroom floor. 2. The air conditioning and fan were not working, the window could not be opened so it was impossible to cool the room overnight, so sleep was difficult. The staff could do nothing to help. 3. The safe was locked open when we arrived, so unstable initially, and at the same time the metal security plates for the lock in the outer door Fram were missing, which meant that the room was not properly secure.

Rag n bone man in Lille

Overall a marvelous stay from the Eurostar in ebbsfleet to the journey home so simple we got to the hotel and the room was all ready originally the check in time was from 2 pm but we were in our room by 11 am the location was perfect the Eurostar train station was about a 15 minute walk and the zenith arena where the rag n bone man was playing was only 300 metres away the gig finished at about 11pm we were back in the hotel bar at 11.15 pm perfect breakfast was varied with plenty of cheeses and croissants to choose from plus hot buffet food as well the staff were fantastic and very helpful Lille itself was also very beautiful if a bit on the expensive side but absolutely no complaints at all the main thing was that my wife thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience as this was a Christmas present for her and of course rag n bone man were superb

Lovely hotel. Reception staff very good , the only let down was being told the wrong time for breakfast. After the first day which was a bit of a disaster, because they kept running out of food and we were waiting around for them to replenish, the second day was worse because they said we were too late and we couldn’t get any because they were clearing away and didn’t offer any help to assist us in getting anything. Having said that when we complained at reception they did offer to rectify it. Would definitely stay here again though as location was very good and close to centre

Excellent facilities and walking distance to the Braderie but in the quiet part of town. Conveniently located near parking garage where they have a special rate. Very helpful front desk staff especially the morning shift gentleman who would patiently answer our million questions and helped guide us where to go. Highly recommended! Very impressive and colorful lobby too!

Truly fab hotel, close to the City centre

I thought this would be one of those faceless chain hotels but was I totally surprised. We were en route elsewhere and Lille made a good pit stop so I picked one of the reasonably priced hotel as we were not intending to stop for long. The hotel lobby is decorated in a fun style, and very user friendly. The room was neat and comfortable, with tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom was spacious and functional, with a good shower and tub. Breakfast was the best thing though - so much choice! You could even fry your own egg in a little saucepan. Check in and out were easy and hassle free. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Good value for Monday near the stations

Not the first time I've stayed in this hotel. The downstairs reception area and bar and very smart and welcoming. Multi lingual staff make check in a breeze.

Couple of negatives, breakfast was a little poor and the tissue box in our room was empty, sign of rushed housekeeping

Would still recommend this hotel for a night if arriving and departing by train. If staying longer the other Novotel is better situated.

Weekend visit to Lille despite a cold January. Three in one room and nice to see the extra bed made up and we were pleased not have to ask for extra towels.
Despite being close to the train station the rooms were quiet.

Very basic, though clean, room. Couldn't get temputure right so had a terrible night's sleep. Then no hot water for a shower in the morning. Also, sink didn't drain properly so difficult to use.

We were a group of 6 girls, previously stayed at the other Novotel near the other railway station. This was much closer to the shops and old town so would definately stay here again. Some reconstruction going on in reception but didn't affect our stay. Staff were superb!!

Great location, fantastic staff and superior break

Fantastic reception staff. The breakfast made us realize 'not all Novotel breakfasts are created equally'. This hotel's breakfast was far superior than any other Novotel we have stayed in. The breakfast staff kept everything tidy and constantly topped up. They were very attentive without being imposing. Perfect location for trains or walking into the center. We would highly recommend staying here.

A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE. WE WENT DOWN FOR BREAKFAST AT 10.45 AM ON SUNDAY, BREAKFAST CLOSES AT 11 AM. THE WAITRESS WARNED US THAT THEY CLOSED AT 11, SO WE GOT OUR CEREAL AND EGGS ETC ALL IN ONE GO. WE STARTED EATING THEN BANG ON 11. O5
AM ONE OF THE STAFF TOLD US WE HAVE TO HURRY UP AND FINISH OUR BREAKFAST BECAUSE THEY NEEDED TO GET THE ROOM READY FOR LUNCH TIME. WE WAS EATING AS FAST AS WE COULD, THEN SHE AND OTHER STAFF STARTED MAKING LOTS OF NOISE WHILE CLEARING UP ALL AROUND US. SHE THEN SAID IN FRENCH THAT WE MUST LEAVE AGAIN IT IS NOW 11.10 AM. I JUST LEFT THE REST OF MY BREAKFAST IN THE END, IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN A HOTEL I HAVE EVER HAD. I WOULD THINK IF YOU CLOSE BREAKFAST AT 11 AM YOU MUST ALLOW AT LEAST 20 MINS OR SO FOR PEOPLE TO EAT IT. IT WAS THE LILLE BRADERIE / FLEA MARKET AND THE MARATHON THE NEXT DAY AND WE LEFT OUR WINDOW OPEN AND YOU COULD HEAR LOTS OF LOUD SHOUTING FROM PEOPLE LEAVING THE STATION LATE AT NIGHT, ONCE WE CLOSED THE WINDOW IT WAS PEACEFUL. I PERSONALLY WOULD NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN. THE ROOM SERVICE IS FREE AND WE HAD 2 NICELY COOKED STEAKS IN THE ROOM, THEY WAS VERY WELL PREPARED BY A PROFESSIONAL CHEF. I WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING AT ANOTHER HOTEL. WE STAYED THERE BECAUSE THEY HAD A CAR PARK THEY WAS VERY RUDE. WE WENT FOR THE FLEA MARKET, SO WE WOKE UP AT 5 AM TO LOOK FOR BARGAINS AND THEN WENT BACK TO THE HOTEL FOR BREAKFAST

Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are excellent. Plenty of restaurants nearby and chocolate shops. A very enjoyable stay.

Doesn't deserve its stars

When we arrived it was very clear that this wasn't a four star but closer to 3 star (like a travel lodge/premier inn) a convenience hotel. Things just got worse from that first impression - the rooms were basic, the bathroom in one of our rooms had bugs and both bathrooms were covered in dust and had odd smells coming from the drains. My mom also noticed after the first day that someone had taken some of her make up and also help themselves to a large serving of her perfume. The tidying of the room did vary day on day - my towel was never changed, and pillows were left off the bed. When we complained about the missing items we were simply dismissed and ignored. The location of the hotel is central but also in a very dirty and slightly dangerous area - with lots of beggars etc in the area. I will definitely not be coming back. Wasn't the absolutely worse place but I sure hope there is a nice place to stay in Lille.

Great hotel close to Grand Place Lille.

This was our second time staying at this hotel and our opinion remains unchanged. The hotel staff were friendly, courteous, and were extremely good with the children. From the check in to check out there were no issues. From the hotel it is a short walk to many restaurants and the centre of town (Grand Place).

The buffet breakfast was great and is what we have become accustomed to while staying at Novotel hotels. It is great for the children and saved us from searching for a breakfast place first thing in the morning.

The only downside is the parking. It is quite expensive because there is no agreement between the hotel and the parking garage.

Still, a very affordable and great hotel in a very convenient and peaceful location.

Overnight stay for Lille v PSG match

Arrived on TGV at Gare d'Europe - short walk to hotel which is ideally placed by Gare de Flandres.
Very friendly and efficient staff provided fine welcome and for period of stay (1 night for Lille v PSG Ligue 1 football match) couldn't have been more helpful.
Hotel down street from centre but quiet enough for a great nights' sleep.
This hotel is sure to be a hit for Euro 2016 - both train stations very close by ( easy walk) and 5 min walk to (2 line) underground providing easy access (about 15 mins) to Stade Pierre Mauroy.
If in Lille would definitely recommend.

2 Day Stay in Lille

When we first arrived, we were greeted by the staff, which were very friendly and helpful. The staff speaks English and gave good recommendations for attractions and food options. The location is very good, close to the train station if you are arriving from Paris or need to leave to another destination, in our case, we left to Brussels 2 days after. The hotel is not bad for the amount you are paying each night.

A clean and friendly modern hotel. The beds were comfortable with clean linen . Room service was efficient and the bathroom was kept clean. Breakfast was plentiful and the on site restaurant offered a wide choice of meals if choosing to eat in. Reception staff were friendly and helpful .

My hotel room was very clean and comfortable. The room was cleaned everyday. The staff in general were friendly and very helpful. would I stay here again the answer is 'yes'

Didn't have any issues with the hotel, a lot of building work going on around it making the area a bit run down but all in all I would re-book here. Food was fine staff were nice, could do with Air Con in the Gym area as gets pretty warm in there.

Very Good

We stayed at the Novatel in in Lille for 2 nights, and found the hotel to be very friendly, helpful, clean and comfortable. There is nothing bad I could say about the hotel. The breakfast was lovely and there was plenty to offer a one and five year old. All in all very helpful and made our stay there a very pleasant one.

Excellent service

The hotel location is easy for a conference because it is a short walk to the Zenith arena but the neighborhood lacks charm.
The hotel was however a perfect stay with a clean room, good services and a very nice breakfast.
The staff was unbelievably helpful regarding a lost bag, which was really appreciated.

Good location close to bars and restaurants. Railway stations close by, together with large shopping centre and casino. Historic area within easy walking distance.

Nice hotel, close to both stations. Area scruffy

Decent Novotel. Close to Lille Europe station, not as close as the Suite Novotel but for a couple of £'s more we got 3 breakfasts too.

Only downside is the street from Flanders to the hotel. A bit scruffy

Good hotel very close to the centre of Lille

First thing to note - this is close to Lille Flanders railways station not Lille Europe where the Eurostar comes in! Its about a 10/15 min walk from the Eurostar terminal and really pleased with the overall location to get to the centre of Lille itself. It took just below 10 minutes to get into the new part of Lille and a further 5 to get to the centre and old town. Its far enough away to be in a nice quiet location so we weren't disturbed through the night. The staff were very friendly and the hotel bed was comfy and the room clean. We opted for breakfast which was good enough, basic but it was what we needed to start the day. We'd stay again.

Very nice hotel.

We had a very nice few nights stay, breakfasts were very good and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is situated very near to the main railway station and is also very near to the main shopping areas and there are plenty of very good restaurants in the vicinity.
