We had a great stay!! It was clean, comfortable, and the best part was the amazing service from the people. They were warm, friendly, and excellent hosts.
From the train station, it was about half a mile walk. Not bad but there were quite a few stairs over canals to walk.
We had breakfast included and that was nice. Nothing crazy, but sufficient and a nice way to get the day started. The bread and coffee were great, and the set up was so pretty.
It was in a perfect location and the WiFi, bathrooms, etc were all great!
I recommend staying here.
The only thing that was wonky was that we didn’t know how to find the place.. it’s in 3 different buildings that are next to one another, so if you arrive at one and it doesn’t have a person there, look around.

It is quite trick to find the hotel, it is next to the ATM place. Even lost, the staff was super friendly and help me to accommodated. The hotel is beautiful, bed and pillows super comfortable and a really nice breakfast. Well located and cozy.

The building is beyond fancy and the staff are amazing. It's Venice, so the rooms are comically small, but yoy get that anywhere in the city at this price point. It's on one of the major tourist strips, the decor is appropriately fancy, the staff are amazing, wifi works well enough and there's probably a dozen cafes and restaurants within a five minute wall from your front door

Only minor downside is that the utilities aren't very well maintained.
Only two outlets in the room were working, the lights in the bathroom flickered, air-conditioning worked well enough but it was obviously dying periodically before coming back to life an hour later and only kept the room cool because it was so small and water pressure was non-existent.

Building's several hundred years old though, so some jank is to be expected.

A lovely place to stay!

A lovely place to stay in Venice. The owners could not help enough, the room was great with marvellous air con. There are no lifts so if you have cases, be prepared to be fit!
Nice breakfast and the location is right on the main island so you are ideally located to enjoy the bars and restaurants of Venice.

The room was nice and large by Venezia standards for the four of us. The ac didn’t work that well and we were in a separate building from the front desk and lobby where the included breakfast and lounge area was so i dropped one star for these. Location was great-easy walk to all the sites without being right in touristy marked up spots and crowds.

The hotel was very nice and in a good location. I noticed the food near the hotel was more reasonably priced compared to areas near the more busy sites. It was easy to walk but if you take the public water taxis to the nearest stop coming straight from the airport be prepared to take your luggage up the many staired small bridges in Venice. It was no problem for us but my parents struggled so a private water taxi would have been a better option. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, provided many great recommendations. Rooms are small but that is to be expected in a historic hotel. Very clean.

Very nice room for a family of 4. Everyone had their own bed, which was our main concern. Fabio at the front desk was very welcoming when we arrived at the property with our water taxi and arranged for our luggage to be brought up to our rooms. The room itself was in the next building over, which wasn’t a big deal. The only thing we noticed was that particular stairwell was super stuffy and smelled rather fishy (but with the hotel on a canal, I don’t know if that could be helped). Overall, a really nice hotel and would stay again when in Venice.

This is a hidden gem in Venice. The hotel was super well located, felt very safe and it was impeccably clean.
I stayed at a single room, which was very small, but it was fine.
I was able to walk everywhere in less than 20 mins, and there is a supermarket with 4 mins walk.
The staff was super helpful, and the breakfast was very generous, good and varied.
Definitely recommend!

Lovely Conveniently Located Hotel

Lovely hotel located close enough to everything to be convenient but just far enough away from the Rialto for there not to be wall-to-wall people right outside the door 24 hours a day. The staff were extremely helpful, particularly with arranging a watertaxi to the airport for us in the middle of the night. I was expecting breakfast to be included based on what I remembered as a special promotion for Gold members that was in effect when I booked the reservation almost a year in advance, but it's possible I am just misremembering things because it isn't stated anywhere on the reservation document I printed out at the time.

We loved everything, cozy room, awesome breakfast, excellent service, cafe and biscuits are available all time for free :). The property is located in a location where from all main attractions in Venice are walkable. It is also very close to the train station. That really worked well for us, as we took high speed trains and went to other cities like florence, padua, verona in our trip and came back in the night. Overall our trip was great and the having a cozy hotel like ca gottardi with delicious breakfast really made our trip memorable.

Centrally located property, which makes it noisy at times. However, the host were extremely welcoming and offered us coffee and biscuits along with early check in (free). The Suite was spacious, clean, perfect for a family of 4. Good breakfast in one of the best rooms I ever had breakfast to with classical music at the background. The price could be lower but Venice is expensive anyway

I did a lot of research before I decided on this hotel and I am very glad that I picked it. Can't say enough about how great this hotel is. Ca' Gottardi is a very clean hotel with beautiful rooms, and a clean and modern bathroom in the heart of it all and yet a good distance from the overcrowded tourist area. Fabio, the owner goes above and beyond and is the model example of Italian hospitality. He made us feel like we were visiting a best friend's cousin in Italy who was trying his best to make sure that our experience was enjoyable. The hotel has a beautiful view from the balcony in the reception area. A fair warning though, and this applies to Venice in general and not just Ca' Gottardi Hotel, travel light. According to Google Maps, the hotel is about 7 minutes away from the train station. In reality, it was a 15-minute trip across some bridges. You will be walking in the middle of the city, with shops and restaurants so it is not bad at all if you are carrying small luggage. We were returning from a Mediterranean cruise and I traveled with someone who had a lot of luggage which was not fun to transfer. You could take the water bus from the train station and it will drop you two minutes away from the hotel with only one bridge to cross. The stop is called Ca' d'Oro and it's about 4-5 stops away. It costs 9 Euro per person for the trip or 25 Euro for the entire day. The trip was scenic, enjoyable, and worth the money. We took it back to the bus station and it was worth it.

This a very nice place to stay. It’s smaller than you think and there is not an elevator. Keep this in mind if you need to carry luggage up the stairs.

The staff was very helpful and our room suited our needs but the bed did not have any blankets (sheets only). It is very reasonably priced!

I loved the room! I was hoping for more of a Waterview, but it was very nice! The Front desk guy was incredible. He carried all our luggage up all the stairs and then to the taxi over the bridge. I can’t remember the gentleman‘s name. I feel so bad he was over the top amazing! They really don’t have much of a bar, so we couldn’t get a drink, and so we didn’t get our welcome drink. It is quite different because you don’t go through the lobby to get to your room. You have to leave the hotel and go around the corner, being all women it was a little scary. But nothing happened. There are no elevators so you have to take the stairs and we were on the third floor.

Hotel is unique. Hard to find, as address is wiped away and only a mat inside the door basically tells you, you are there. Airport shuttle? I can’t believe they advertise this, sure they will call you a water taxi for the steep price of $150 euros so be prepared for that.

The experience started well. We were met off the water taxi and checked in. The reception was lovely and warm and as it was raining really hard, the warm drinks were a welcome comfort.
Breakfast was great and the staff team served us well.
The let down, was the room, it wasn't what I booked and as I look at the photo opposite this review it wasn't the room we had. The room, was small and dark. there were 4 of us and it was so small with hardly any room to place anything. Can't say the cleanliness was the best, the bidet had obviously not been cleaned. The complimentary bottles of water were dusty and for a family of 4, 2 aren't enough. We also only had 2 cups in the room, again, for a family of just didn't work.
I could have complained, but this was my partners 50th birthday and she didn't want the hassle.

I'm sure there are some lovely rooms here and peoples comments probably do part of the hotel justice, but enquiry if you are in the main building or annex, if annex, I'd reconsider and if a family of 4, I'd question the room.

The attention to detail in the main building. doesn't carry across to the annex.
This really was a disappointment to the trip, we enjoyed Venice, just not great having to sleep in what should have been more comfortable hotel

Our stay was fabulous. We didn’t spend much time in the room other than sleeping for the two nights we spent in Venice. The space was large with very high ceilings which made it feel even larger. We were in the annex building just outside the main entrance with multiple levels of secure doors. Staff was friendly, very clean, good location. We were escorted to our room and keys/locks were clearly explained
Only negative was the small safe was not bolted down but didn’t have any valuables anyway so not an issue.

Very Charming Hotel!

We had some trouble finding the hotel due to the street number on the building being faded. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Our room was perfect. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, yogurts, delicious pastries and cereals. And made to order any type of coffee you wanted. The only complaint was whoever lived upstairs, they walked heavily on the floors & pulled a chair across the floor at 6am. Woke us up both days of our stay. Be sure to take water taxi #1 here. We were misguided by water taxi staff and had to pull our heavy luggage .7 miles, over at least 5 stairs!

The description said the hotel was a ten minute walk to the airport. I couldn't imagine how that could be true. But it took five minutes to get into the airport and another five minutes to get to the terminal. Unbelievable. It took longer to get to the boat into Venice than to walk from the hotel. Only issue for me was there was no elevator

I normally don't review hotels, as most are fine. But Ca' Gottardi was exceptional. The location was perfect. The room was fabulous. But what made my stay here particularly wonderful was the service. I arrived 2 hours early and was allowed to check in. When checking out, I departed almost an hour before breakfast was served and the staff had prepared breakfast for my family of 4. I highly recommend this hotel. Incredible.

A great find in Venice in a central location with exceptionally attentive staff and an \"Old World\" feel. We loved our four nights at this hotel for many reasons, including the hospitality (quickly addressing any issues, providing coffee and bar service in addition to breakfast, ordering a water taxi, etc.), the amazing location (walkable to both the train station and San Marco, on a pretty canal, quiet at night), the sumptuous décor (we had a massive Venetian chandelier in our Jr. Suite), and the comfort (great shower with body jets, comfy beds, quiet air conditioning that works!). The service was top notch. Fabio and Sorina were outstanding. Always very friendly and helpful. They provided excellent restaurant recommendations. Also very accommodating for our breakfast time. Couple small things that could be better, 1) the AC was not very cold but it seems it may be normal for Venice, 2) the shower drain was slow and pooled a bit of water. Our stay here in early July 2022 was perfect. The staff was amazingly helpful and kind; the included breakfast was a great start to each of our days; and the location was super (we walked from the main train station with luggage upon arrival, and walked to the Alilaguna Airport Water Taxi port upon departure, both 10 to 15 minutes walk in different directions). The rooms are air conditioned which was an unexpected bonus for us! Finally, the mint and cherry water refreshments offered in the lobby each day were one of the many things I will remember about Venice. Definitely recommend this great hotel!

Convenient location and wonderful staff

The staff were all amazing- all were super friendly and helpful. Location was easy to get around to all areas of Venice - via walking or boat. There are 2 grocery stores nearby and a gondola spot. Also, make sure to try the restaurants recommended by the hotel staff- we tried 3 of them and loved them all.

Extremely Kind Staff

A wonderful little place. Beautifully decorated, very clean, and in a great location. They had the most wonderful staff who was genuine, warm, and kind. I arrived in the late afternoon and the very kind man working the front desk upgraded my room for free! I really enjoyed the room and the AC. The hotel is located in a nice little area with lots of food and drink options. A very posh and safe option for someone traveling alone. I travel to Venice often and have usually been loyal to another hotel which happened to be full this weekend. I am incredibly glad I stumbled on this place as I really enjoyed my stay here. This will be my new go to for Venice in the summer time and will be most certainly coming back in all other seasons. Will be back again and again.

Great location & beautiful rooms. It was easy to get to from the water taxi. Breakfast was nice. I stayed in annexed building. I wasn’t a fan of the walk up the stairs after walking all day,but I survived.
