I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in this lovely Grand Hotel. All the staff were very courteous and attentive, looking after my every need. I can recommend the restaurant and the location is ideal, very close to the beach and within walking distance of the old town, Intra Muros.

A gem in Saint Malo

Stayed here on a recent visit to Saint Malo. 50 metres from the promenade in a lovely quarter of the beach front properties. Lovely French hotel with swimming pool and spa. Food is deliciously good and reasonably priced. Staff are excellent and extremely pleasant on arrival and throughout our stay. One of the best 4 star hotels we have stayed in.

Lovely hotel and wonderful room, but!!!!

Lovely hotel and a wonderfully comfortable room. It was just let down by a few things. The reception staff were excellent and welcoming, they managed to find us some parking space event though other guest's bad parking had filled the small car park. They also made sure we knew about street closures the next day, due to an event, so we could plan out journey. The stay was just let down by a couple of issues. The bar staff and some of the waiting staff didn't seem to be fully training. Our meal in the restaurant was disappointing, the starters were excellent, but our mains we over cooked, both the vegetables and the fish, not what you expect at these prices. When the Chef came around the tables we pointed this our, he was dismissive and uninterested.

The hotel is situated one street back from the beach and close to St Malo (30 minute walk). It is a little tired and in need of some tlc. Driving to the hotel is complicated by one way systems and parking is a problem. We had to park on the street in a very narrow space as the small carpark was full. The staff helped us park and were generally helpful. We didn't use the pool but it looked good, we didn't use the restaurant either.

Not a 4* hotel

In our honest opinion this is not a 4* hotel. Our room was dated and the bathroom was like stepping back in time 40 or 50 years.
The bed is one you can control the angle of the head or feet. One side didn't work, and the other side the controller had exposed wires, very dangerous.
If you are taller than 5ft7 then the separate toilet will be difficult to use as it is tiny.
Upon leaving they tried to charge us for 2 breakfast of 16€ each, which we had not opted in for.
Quite angry with the deception and how I used my rewards to stay here. If I had know better we would have paid the extra 40€ and stayed at the 5* hotel opposite.

Fabulous bit of luxury a great find

Amazing find. Safe parking, beautiful rooms excellent customer service. To top it off we were to tired from driving to go into St Malo so we ate at their restaurant. What a delight relaxing in the lounge prior to eating. Fabulous extensive menu with outstanding delicious food on the plate all served with knowledge and a smile.
The hotels location is near the Esplanade in a very quiet street. Beautiful old building with chic appeal in decor. Great indoor heated swimming pool available, we didn’t have time to use it.
Highly recommend this hotel. We will be back.

Made to feel very unwelcome in the restaurant.
Ordered two starters, only one arrived

Don't stay if you need to park your car!

I was staying on my way to the ferry port so all I required was simple clean comfortable accommodation with parking for my car. I got the accomodation but the parking at the hotel is inadequate for its size and due to poor arrangements and trying to fit too many cars into too small a space, my car was scratched. Because it was not on the highway and the hotel will not accept responsibility I am left with a repair bill . Not Happy!

Lovely hotel - outstanding facilities

The hotel itself is a bit dated in terms of decor and furnishings but it is clean, pleasant and they went out of their way with the facilities - outstanding! E.g. in the room... Nespresso machine, electric shutters... only thing missing which was a bit odd was no minibar/milk for said Nespresso... but we had a great stay. The staff were extremely helpful, we were travelling with a young baby and although the car park was full they let us park right outside for the night - a godsend for reloading all the baggage. We would definitely stay next time we are in st Malo - plus brilliant location!

The bed was two thin mattresses on a frame that supposedly moved up in position. The mattresses moved around all night. Not great for a couple or singles as there was only one set of sheets.

The indoor pool was viewed by everyone eating breakfast. Not a great design! Dinner was nice, hotel secure, staff wonderful.

Great Location

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is an ideal location about 20 minute walk from the old town along the boardwalk overlooking the ocean. Free car parking was a bonus and the hotel is situated near Mont St Michel which is a 40 minute drive.
The rooms were a bit tired looking but quite large and comfortable. The staff were all friendly and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

need to improve on the staff service

Went to this hotel with my parents for a night.
Staff service was insufficient, need to hire more peoples... for whatever need or question i need to seek for an attendant somewhere...like ordering a drink...
room Phone was unplugged.
Breakfast ok
Hotel set on a quiet area and out of the city, rate for a taxi to drop in city center is around 10 euros.
Overall ok, but won't recommend it and won't be back, especially for this price.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The room was wonderful. The only negative point was the staff. Although they were friendly, they were very busy and had to wait to see someone. We gave up on having a meal or even a drink at the hotel as nobody was there to take our order.

Great staff but lacking attention to detail

The staff at the hotel couldn't have been better. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful, however the overall condition of the hotel was disappointing. Our room was dark and the lighting provided inadequate. The car park is reached through a very narrow road with cars parked on one side, leaving JUST enough room for a car to pass.....or maybe not as three of them had scratches down the side! After the first night we parked outside the hotel. But most disappointing were the gardens, which just looked unloved. With just a little effort they could have been lovely, as indeed they are shown on the web site! The outside space could & should be the crowning glory of this hotel.

Brief overnight stay

We stayed at the hotel for one night prior to a very early start to catch an early morning ferry. We therefore had little time to use the hotel's facilities but it was in an ideal location for our needs. The hotel has free parking but spaces are limited due to the small parking area at this town centre hotel. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist and overall found the hotel to be very good.

Discourteous and Non-Grand Experience

After just writing a too long review, hotels.com rules require me to keep this under 1500 characters. So I deleted my long and detailed description of this very Non Grand Hotel and am reducing this review to shorter text. In just a few words, I can easily say, DO NOT stay at this hotel. Other than super friendly and helpful evening desk clerks (one female, one male) this place had so many things wrong with it that my original write-up just did not fit here. From the bed, to the carpet to the bidet, you don't wanna stay here!

Arrived just before 4 pm - to be told room not ready - to go away and come back in 30 mins. (Confirmation suggested check in from 2 pm).

Paid 130 gbp for superior room and given standard room

All in all very disappointed - for the same money we could have had s sea view room on the front...

Will not stay again and not recommend to a friend.

Very nice hotel. Receptionist was very friendly and enthusiastic on arrival, lovely setting, didn't get to try the restaurant but bar service was very good. Room was very comfortable, individually adjustable beds were a nice surprise! Bit of a walk from the old town, but very well placed for the beach.

Hotel staff very friendly. Hotel 5 mins from the sea, 15/20min walk from the heart of the old town. Parking for car (we had one) free but limited. Initially we had no hot drinking facilities in the room, however on the last day a coffee maker appeared. Used the restaurant however food a bit hit and miss, some excellent courses, with others not so good! Overall you would struggle to get better for the price.

The Hotel was lovely, the pool was great (my little boy who loves to swim would have spent most of his time in there given the chance, especially with the amazing jets!!) I recommend this hotel

We were given a very comfortable double room on second floor with view to front of hotel. Did not take breakfast as price seemed very high at 14 euro each. Took advantage of boulangerie at end of road instead. No adverse comments whatsoever other than that. Had one lunch and one dinner in restaurant and food excellent on each occasion. All hotel staff very helpful. On site car parking limited but would not advise using car if going into St. Malo as bus service good and can be walked (about half hour).

THe hotel was excellent in relation to service, food and the pool. Service in the restaurant was particularly good - attentive but not obtrusive. The one drawback for us was that the chairs in the salon were too low and too soft for elderly people with bad backs. A few harder chairs and some firm cushions would make a big difference.

Quirky large once grand hotel now run like a huge family guest house. Not a lot of parking space for such a large hotel but rooms clean and well maintained although ours had a separate WC in the entrance lobby with no basin which was a pain.

Interesting little dog permanently perched on the reception desk.

All the staff at this hotel were wonderful, but we had dinner on Christmas Eve at the hotel and it was awful, we have never had such terrible food in France before, the Brekfast was not to good either for a four star hotel, I usually do not complain on these sites as most of the hotels we visit in France have been fine but the food on this occassion made me want to write something

Not quite up to the \"Grand\" billing

There's nothing terribly wrong with this hotel, but there are some things worth noting about it. In our case we had booked a double bed and that's not what we got -- even after they moved us to another room upstairs because the first one was frankly unpleasant. The hotel is NOT on the water despite their website showing many pretty pictures of the water and Saint Malo. It is close to the beach but not on it and frankly the immediate area is a bit of a wasteland. Breakfast is of course 13 euros a person and there is no alternative nearby unless you walk or drive 1.3 kilometers to the town. For the same money I suspect there are a bunch of 3 stars which are closer to the town and are on the water.

beautiful hotel within walking distance (20/25 minutes) of the walled town. Breakfast was good but a bit expensive. Restaurant likewise. It also lacked warmth and ambiance. however there were a number of very good restaurants very nearby.
The swimming pool was great as were the lounge and garden areas. However, less of the canned music would be better!!
The room we had was very comfortable with adjustable beds which were very comfortable. A beautiful place to stay with welcoming and helpful staff. we certainly hope to return.

A relaxing overnight stop

Very comfortable hotel with friendly staff and excellent facilities - including a very pleasant swimming pool. Good size bedroom complete with electric adjustable bed.
Pleasant restaurant giving reasonable value menus (although when we were there - late November, the menu choice was very narrow).
Good location, just one block from the sea front, but a 20 minute walk into St. Malo (but along the sea shore).

We arrived at the hotel and were delightfully greeted by a beautiful woman from Lyon who worked at reception. She was extremely polite and courteous. While car parking was a bit tight, the lady at reception assured us that on street car parking was very safe and we had no problems. Breakfast was fresh, with a great selection.

La chambre n'était pas ultra propre, joint de baignoire plein de moisissures, odeur de \"remontée d'égouts\" dans les toilettes et la salle de bain. Le lit dur comme du bois ! Sinon les plus la piscine est belle, l'eau est malheureusement plutôt froide...le p'tit déjeuner est sympa heureusement pour 17 euros tout de même ! L'emplacement n'est pas idéal si on n'est pas véhiculé, il faut aimé marcher pour rejoindre intra muros !

J'ai séjourné 3 nuits au grand hôtel de Courtoisville (20, 21 et 22/08/2020) dans le cadre de vacances en Bretagne Nord.
Mon avis reste très mitigé sur l'hôtel et les prestations en général.
En effet, bien que je dirai que l'hôtel porte bien son nom avec un personnel très courtois et avenant, cela s'arrête un peu là.
J'ai en effet été déçu de la qualité de prestation qui n'est pas en lien avec le tarif et les photos et descriptifs annoncés.
Un des gros points négatifs réside dans la publicité mensongère du parking : seule 1 10aine de places pour tout l'hôtel, c'est à celui qui se garera le 1er et ne quittera pas sa place, vous obligeant à tournoyer dans les environs pour trouver une place en extérieur.
Ma chambre était suffocante alors que nous avions très largement dépassé la période de forte chaleur et le climatiseur fourni dans la pièce était bruyant et inefficace.
On ne m'a pas redonné de savons et shampoing après ma 1ère nuit et j'ai du redemander une serviette car elle m'avait été retirée sans être remplacée.
La piscine est vieillissante et pas à l'image de la photo (je m'en étais fait une meilleure idée).
Le petit déjeuner à 17€ est hors de prix, si encore le buffet était à la hauteur
En comparaison, j'ai eu l'occasion de séjourner dans d'autres établissements des environs les nuits suivantes pour de meilleures prestations au tarif moindre !
Au bilan, un hôtel certes correct mais à la qualité et aux prestations qui sont loin d'être au RdV des tarifs appliqués

Excellent séjour

Hôtel charmant qui est idéalement situé pour la découverte de Saint Malo intra-muros via le bord de mer et ses plages.
Le côté spacieux et confortable de la chambre avec son balcon, nous a permis de passer un agréable séjour dans un environnement très calme.

Vieille salle de bain année 80
Pas de mini bar ni de réfrigérateur en chambre pour un 4 étoiles !!
Petit déjeuner trop « COVID » donc très sommaire
Pas de commande particulière avant 09 h00
Heure d’arrivée en cuisine pour les œufs au plat il faudra attendre 😜

Un bel hôtel, très bien placé et confortable

Un très bon accueil du personnel, souriant et serviable.
Notre chambre était assez petite, mais bien claire et calme (les portes-fenêtres donnaient sur la cour intérieure - parking). La literie très confortable (avec réglage électrique), café à disposition tous les jours, ménage bien fait. La salle de bain correcte, mais un peu vieillotte.
La présence d'une piscine a été un vrai plus. Un hôtel à recommander pour un petit séjour.

Chambre bien ,piscine moyen, resto ok

Literie mal adaptee par rapport au sommier electrique. Cuvette wc avec calcaire pas de brosse 🙁. Pas de commande pour volet roulant. Mais lit electrique pratique. Menage dans chambre a peaufiner mais tres calme 😉 Restaurant au top. Attention pour maintenir la qualite de service.
