We stayed in the family suite- it was lovely and had so many floor to ceiling windows. It was nicely layes out with a table/chair as well as a desk and a couch. The suite was very clean. The kids liked the drinks in the mini fridge that were included in our stay. There is a really good Italian restaurant that is a 2 minute walk away and the bakery across the street had amazing pain au chocolats….maybe the best we had our entire time in France. Parking is underground but there was lots of street parking that was free for the night (then it became pay parking at 9am). We would certainly return.

This is a convenient hotel very close to the train station and car rental area. The room was clean and had a nice shower. It was an easy10 minute walk into the town of St Malo. We had breakfast in a nice small cafe across from the train station.

I was really disappointed with my stay here. When we checked in, we were given a 'superior room' on the first floor, overlooking the main road. The hotel was not busy at all, with many rooms available so I asked if we could change to a room on a higher floor or not overlooking the road. I was told this was not possible immediately in a very curt manner. Although the room was very clean, it did not look like the rooms advertised on here and was very lacking in any kind of character. The corridor we were on smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The area where the hotel is located is not nice, a 20 minute walk outside the ramparts and near industrial buildings and the train station. Other small things bothered me given it was a four star hotel: there were two of us yet we were given just one small water for the room to share. There was a kettle with mugs for tea and coffee but the mugs, made of plastic, were completely stained and brown inside, not what I would expect from a hotel of this calibre. This all seem like easy things to fix and could have been very much improved by the staff being more accommodating and keen to please guests. I would not come back.

We booked for 4 nights. The hotel was great, well placed, very clean, friendly staff. The room was soundproofed, we didn’t hear others in the hotel (but when we asked, we found out the hotel was almost fully booked). The bed was a bit too hard for our taste, but might suit others. We also booked a paid parking place in the garage (accessible 24/7), but there is a paid parking on the road as well, just in front of the hotel. Safety measures due to Covid-19 were well respected. We would definitely return and recommend to others.

The hotel was accommodating in that they stored our luggage since we had arrived during early morning. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only issue was the drain in the shower. Seemed that the drain was not able to let water pass in time for more water from the shower, hence the water would pool in the shower.

A little out of the way from the old town, with little to do locally, the hotel is modern and we'll equipped. Good service e, clean rooms and all we needed for our short stay. However, the price per night was, in my opinion, a good 15% dearer than we would have thought reasonable, and an eye watering €14 per person for breakfast was simply taking the p***. Had the hotel been in or next to the main attractions of the area then the prices may have been justified, but it wasn't and so this place did not offer value for money. Nonetheless, a pleasant enough stay.

St Malo Hotel Balmoral (Mercure) reasonable stay

The stay was good but with certain points that need to be clarified to future guests. The double bed was very comfortable but is on the small side for people one of whom is over 6 foot tall & weighing over 15 stone (110KG) . There was ample pressure and hot water in the shower. The kettle in the room was a nice surprise for a French hotel but meagre rations of milks and coffee although hotel reception supply more on request. The breakfast spread was OK to fair for continental breakfast although the hot bacon was not crispy and swimming in fat (had it been microwaved?) and the scrambled egg was like yellow set porridge and needed a lot of seasoning to bring it to life. Coffee, juices, pastries and toast bread were good and plentiful. The hotel is across an open windy square from the main train station and convenient for buses going either to the Intra-Muros part of St Malo or to the Madeleine shopping centre. If it is cold or windy or wet, the walk to Intra Muros is a bleak 15 to 20 minutes. On busy weekends (such as 12 and 13 November with the 11 Nov Armistice Day public holiday, parking is not easy. The hotel parking is in a garage below the hotel and worth the EUR 10 per day as 3 hours on a street meter is the same price.

Great stay in the Mercure hotel, check in was easy ,the room spotless, and very comfortable, all the front desk staff very helpful, and breakfast was very nice. Underground secure parking available. Visit the old town ,which is only a short walk from the hotel, for excellent food ,drinks ,shopping and atmosphere. Will definitely be returning

Nice place tpo stay when in St Malo.

We enjoyed our stay in St Malo. The location was quite a hike from where you want to be, though (about 1 mile). This would definitely be a problem for people with mobility issues. We were located right by the train station, though, so it would be convenient for train travelers. I don't like paying for parking, but they probably charge for it because space is quite limited.

The short weekend stay at the Best Western Balmoral was very pleasant.

The hotel is situated in a very central and convenient location of St Malo. The hotel have a small underground car park and the charge for 1 day is 10€.

The room was very comfortable, clean and well maintained, also we found the staff to be very friendly.

I highly recommend this hotel.

Handy stop-over

Needed to spend 1 night before catching the train to Paris. The hotel is very convenient to the train station. The receptionist was welcoming (she recognised my husband who has stayed before)and the bed comfortable. The pillows were harder than we like them. One drawback - only minimal tea and coffee with milk sachets, all in a fiddly drawer on top of the desk. We didn't ask for more as we got fresh provisions from
the Petit Casino a short walk away.
We would stay here again as it meets most needs.

Centrally placed and only a 5 minute drive to the Ferry Port. The Hotel is very modern and very clean but lacks any character. The staff are very friendly, polite and efficient. If you need an evening meal you will have to dine out. Local facilities are at hand but for really excellent atmosphere, restaurant choice and scenery go to St Malo Old Town which is 20 minute walk. Parking costs 10 euros per night on site but well worth it as it is secure.

Thought I knew where this hotel was having been to St.Malo several times before. However a quick visit to the Tourist Info Office soo revealed it's location an easy 15 walk from the City walls adjacent to the Railway Ztation. After long and restless night on the ferry the hotel staff allowed us use of the room at 1100 after it had been cleaned which was greatly appreciated for us to rest and shower. Hotel staff spoke excellent English and could not have been more helpful to us. Breakfast was very acceptable and 'all you an eat\" which pleased my hungry son!!. Lkvy fresh breads and a very good selection of fruits etc. Compared to a ferry breakfast we had the morning before it was I was in a different league.we enquired about transport links and as rail station close by 3

different buses serve the hotel adjacent area and whilst not used to get back to the ferry port could have been. Room dry well appointed and comfortable. Very good value for money and will 7se this hotel again without question.

We always stay at the Balmoral when we are in St.Malo and are normally very satisfied. However this year we were disappointed with the room (406). It was poorly designed , elongated with difficult access to the separated toilet at night from the right side of the bed. It was not up to the standard we had experienced previously.
