What a fabulous hotel. The welcome was lovely and friendly. Room was great. Clean and comfy. The general areas of the hotel are decorated beautifully with lots of little touches that make it feel special. There is parking out front of the hotel but we parked on the road. There are a few great restaurants with a few minutes walk and the owners gave us some great information on others in St Malo. Special mention for the breakfast. It was excellent value, felt very personal and was served in a relaxing environment. They even packed up any of our leftovers for us to take when we asked. Cannot rate this hotel and its owners more highly.

Friendly Welcome

Very friendly welcome, great location. Tight parking but at no charge so that was welcome. A fan in the room would have been nice as it was very warm during the night. Bed was super comfy. Our room was quite small for the price but then it was during August. We would have needed a bigger room if we were staying for longer (which we would like to do). Loads of quality window shopping to be done in St. Malo and some great seafood on offer, so we'll definitely be back :-)

This beautiful hotel, formerly a family home, is owned and run by the loveliest couple. Charming, friendly and welcoming. The property is beautiful and the view from our room included a very full apricot tree, the fruit of which was part of the delicious breakfast we enjoyed in the back garden. Would return here if we are in St. malo again.

Everything about this beautiful small hotel lived up to expectations. From a very warm and friendly welcome to accommodating us with an early breakfast due to a change in ferrydeparture.

Without hesitation, we would stay again and highly recommend the hotel.

The breakfast itself deserves special mention. Not only was the food plentiful and varied, the exacting table setting stood head and shoulders above other hotels stayed in during our trip.

Attention to detail is evident, the hotel is also so clean and at some point we look forward to returning for a longer stay. Thank you both.

Thix us a delightful small hotel in the town of St Malo (as opposed to being in the walled city). It is only about 5 minutes drive to the port, so ideal if you're catching a morning ferry.

Of particular note for the breakfast, it is billed as a continental breakfast. However, that hides the fact that there is an extensive selection of items with an emphasis on homemade products. The quality is first-rate.

We have used this hotel before, when catching the ferry back to the UK in the past and we will almost certainly use it again in the future.

A real gem. On arrival the owner made us very welcome and throughout our stay he was extremely helpful. A nice, quiet, well appointed room and an excellent breakfast.The location is ideal for exploring the area. You can walk to Intra-Muros (The old town) or there is a bus stop nearby. There are also a couple of bikes you can hire from the hotel, which we did. Plenty restaurants nearby to choose from. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. We hope to return in the future.

Beautiful house, great hosts

Beautiful property within easy walking distance of the lovely Saint Servan village, and about 20 mins from St Malo intramuros. Super friendly welcome on arrival and great breakfast following morning with local produce, home baking - and same friendly vibe. Made us fell like house guests rather paying customers. Would definitely stay here again when travelling through St Malo.

Hotel in excellent location to visit St Malo, Dinan and Dinard. Very attractive town house/hotel. Parking but tight entrance. Room immaculate. High quality continental breakfast. Hotel staff delightful and couldnt do enough for you. Highly recommend this hotel. We stayed twice, start and end of our trip around Brittany.

Ideal hotel if you're heading back to the UK on the St. Malo crrosing as only 7 mins drive from the port.

Breakfast is a really good continental, all brought to the table, and they seem very used to serving breakfast slightly early so getting to the ferry on time is easy.

The is parking ar the front of the hotel, but the gates are really tight and it's difficulty to get an angle at them; I found it necessary to reverse out with wing mirrors folded in (E class Merc). If you're concerned about being blocked in or getting in in the first place, there is ample free street parking outside the hotel and, I noticed, guests heading for the ferry had all street parked.

For eating in the evening, your best bet is by the old port (they'll give you a map and suggestions), but it is 1.5 miles exactly; parking down there didn't look good and you probably need to reserve a table on a Sunday evening. The hotel can help you with this.

The staff are charming!

The rooms are good, but can be rather warm even with windows propped wide open; there is no air con.

Having said all that, I would happily use again pre ferry.

Friendly hotel near town centre

The staff here are incredible, a really warm welcome was followed up with excellent advice on things to do and where to eat despite the fact we were only in St Malo for one night.
Breakfast was delicious and again with delightful service.
Our room was a little small (it was the only one available when we booked) but perfectly fine for a short stay and extremely clean.

Perfect for an overnight stay prior to catching the morning ferry from St Malo. We stayed with our 6 month old and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming or friendly (especially the gentleman on check in). Comfortable room, stylish interior and delicious breakfast. We’d stay again!

Lovely rooms near ferry and St Servan restaurants

A great place to stay overnight with limited but good onsite parking. Very friendly owner run place and great atmosphere. A 10 minutes walk to St Servan port and excellent restaurants less busy that St Malo town. 5 minute drive to ferry back to Jersey

We had a lovely stay. Property was nice and quiet, and was clean throughout. Off season stay meant there was some paintwork going on. Nice continental breakfast which was lovely and generous. Best croissants in ages. Coffee and tea maker in room, complementary water. Very comfortable bed. As its a hotel in a large old house, there was some older things and the internet was patchy. Would recommend.

Ecery thing you want in a hotel.

Great hotel with a very friendly welcome. Well equipped, clean rooms with drinks facilities and a comfy bed. We stayed overnight before taking a ferry home. Arrived mid afternoon and took a 30 minute walk down to the Citie and went to a superb fish restaurant on the hotel owner's recommendation Breakfast was the best we had whilst touring France for 3 weeks. I would struggle to find anything to criticise. Highly recommended

This hotel is particularly well located for the travellers catching the early morning ferry from St Malo. However we did not sacrifice enjoyment for practicality. There was a row of restaurants overlooking the bay a short walk from the hotel.

We loved the building style and decoration. Helen who looked after us was an absolute joy, nothing was any trouble so friendly and welcoming. although we had trouble getting the shower to function and the water was only luke war in the morning it didn't matter as the place was an absolute find.

Stylish and enjoyable stay

Welcoming hosts and a pleasant and clean room in a stylish hotel. Has its own parking behind gates. We also enjoyed the optional breakfast. There were some local restaurants or we walked for about 15 mins down to the nearby beach to eat.

Lovely small hotel

This is a very quiet clean elegant hotel. Great location for visiting St Malo, Dinard and further round the Brittany coastline. Very hospitable kind staff. It was a very relaxing place to stay.

The best place to stay

Emmanuel and his wife are wonderful hosts, and the hotel is downright perfect. It's beautiful, in a wonderful area, and there was so much attention to detail. We felt so welcomed. Everything was just wonderful. The hotel was immaculately clean, very stylishly decorated, with luxurious towels, linens, coffee, shower, towel warmer, etc.

Run by the owners who were absolutely charming and very attentive and charming. Hotel had excellent facilities and very clean and well presented. The only thing I can fault them on, and I feel very guilty about even saying this as we had such a great stay. But very personally the breakfast provided was absolutely excellent but I prefer a more savoury type of breakfast. Although very good it consisted of all sweet options of jam and cakes. I would prefer something which also included perhaps cheese, ham and or eggs. As I say this is being really picky but on the whole I would say to everyone to book it. It's lovely, and well done to them and keep up the excellent work.

The perfect hotel

This was our second time visiting this hotel and we definitely be back. The hosts were excellent, couldn't do enough for you. They recommend and booked a long very restaurant for us too.

We slept very well, and the breakfast had lots of lovely local touches.

Lovely Boutique hotel with delicious breakfast

We enjoyed our 1 night stay in very comfortable room. Hotel is in the picturesque Saint Servan district. Nice and quiet. But just round corner from the Solidor Bay. We will be back. The breakfast was delicous.

Beautiful mansion/boarding house transformed

An elegant hotel run by a pleasant, personable, and capable young couple--it was my favorite hotel after traveling three weeks in France. We were given excellent restaurant recommendations, including a small place a block from the hotel at which we dined twice (the best meals we had in France). The hotel breakfast is excellent, with the pastries baked by the owner herself. The husband spoke very good English and was able (and willing) to talk about the area (where he happened to grow up), its history and recent issues. We met some very interesting fellow patrons in the breakfast dining room as well as at dinner, which made the trip even more entertaining. The decor is a combination of old world elegance and sleek contemporary style (lots of fun just to look around and admire it). Also, there were many books available that showed pictures of San Malo from the past (including one of the hotel itself.

Lovely small hotel

This hotel is a beautiful small hotel run by a very nice young couple who take great pride in giving you the best experience possible. I don't know if it is their own business but they certainly behave as though it is. From the handwritten personal welcome note on the bed to their own handmade jams and pastries at breakfast, every care is taken to ensure you are made welcome and looked after. We only stayed 2 nights but were left with an excellent impression for the last 2 nights of our stay in France. The hotel is in a very nice residential district of Saint Malo, just a couple of km from the centre. It could be quite hard to find but we had no problem as we had a sat nav. If I have one criticism of the hotel it is that the rooms are very small. However, we were upgraded and though the room was small, the bed was huge! Highly recommended hotel.

Overnighting in St Malo

Really excellent hotel in a quiet part of Saint Malo. Staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good with top quality pastries and breads with lots of additional choices, served in a very nice salon.
There is no lift so you need to be able to manage stairs. Secure parking is also available but this is limited as the front of the hotel is quite small.

A superb chique hotel.

We only stayed here overnight before a ferry crossing but this one night experience has inspired us to return and spend some time in St. Malo.
The family room is small but well laid out and very comfortable. The hotel has a quiet, luxurious feel. We were late arriving and got lost finding the hotel in the dark. We rang the hotel and they came and met us and we followed them!! Superb customer service.
Lovely breakfast in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Well positioned for small local shops and 1 mile from the old town.
Would recommend highly.

Friendly and elegant

I emailed in advance as I was going to arrive early and wanted to leave my bike at the hotel before going into St Malo; this inquiry was answered promptly and accommodated with grace. I was offered a choice of rooms when I arrived and got a lovely room with balcony and Queen size bed at no extra cost as a single traveller. My bike was tucked up in the garage keeping it secure and dry. The service was excellent and friendly with a lovely breakfast in the morning in the elegant dining room. Could not be a better location for the ferry home and easy access to both St Malo and the lovely suburb of St Servan. Although I used it as a stop off before the trip home, I would definitely use this hotel for a longer stay to visit the surrounding area.

A quiet haven, but close to the main attractions..

We were made so welcome by the owners.. They couldn't do enough for us... The rooms are perfect.. View of the garden in June was spectactular... Roses everywhere... Breakfast with local Breton produce was delicious... Will stay again for one night at end of our tour and already looking forward to it... Stayed in other hotels in st Malo .. But this is by far the best..

Great hotel

The hotel was really beautiful, it was a house in a beautiful area and transformed into a hotel. It is a great spot in saint Malo and close to the citadel. The hotel gives a feeling of comfort because it feels like a home with the classic decoration and friendly staff. The breakfast is basic. Staying in the Ascott hotel definitely added to our experience.
