We were given a room that was clean and functional but the aircon didn’t work - i reported it to reception and was told it was the whole hotel that had an issue - there was nothing that could be done and i was given a small fan. Later in the bar we noticed the aircon was working so i spoke to a different receptionist who advised that it was only our room that was not working! I asked for a different room to be told that was not possible, no other reason - the hotel does not appear to be full at all! Was offered complimentary continental breakfast but after a poor night sleep in a stuffy room on a plastic sheet that gesture feels like we were fobbed off - expensive as well at £151 for the night. Disappointed and wont be back

They were not ready for us and the twin beds had not been sorted. It was gone 7 pm. They’d had a bad day. We settled for the Kingsize bed. Hope to sleep okay. Long drive in the uk tomorrow

France Road Trip (2025)

Before I write this review it's all about perspective...

I wanted to stay in Saint Malo but it's fair to say this is not in Saint Malo centre. It's on more of an industrial estate / shopping centre around 30 minutes by bus from the Saint Malo Train Station (Gare) or the Port with access to the Citadel. (This is reflective in the cost based on the location)

I have rated this hotel average as it's a little dated and needs a refresh.

Breakfast Buffet was adequate and pretty normal for an IBIS hotel.

Transport, bus's run from a stop across the large carpark, and if travelling into the centre this cost needs to be factored. Returning to the hotel by bus can be a little more restrictive in terms of time of last bus and frequency.

Wi-Fi as with each IBIS I visited in this trip worked well as part of the Accor Group.

I generally define hotels by stating if I would choose this hotel again and the answer is NO in this case.

As I was there only 2 nights I would pick somewhere closer to the Port or the Citadel.

City Tax is paid locally at the hotel and is taken upon Check-In.

The hotel does have a lift between floors and a luggage trolly was available in reception for moving bags between car and room. (Handy if on a Road Trip).

Fantastic hotel in quiet location.

Fantastic hotel in a quiet location, staff extremely helpful and available 24/7. Reception area very comfortable with plenty of seating and child friendly area. All areas of the hotel are very clean and pleasant. Plenty of free car parking and close to places to eat and a large supermarket for food and fuel.
The bedroom was immaculate and well furnished with very comfortable king-size bed with TV, kettle and coffee and tea provided. Excellent shower with spotless towels and shampoo etc.
Breakfast was very substantial with a good selection of cooked eggs, bacon and sausage plus cold meat and cheeses, fresh fruit, cereal and several different breads and croissants. Very good coffee and fruit juices.
Would recommend as an overnight stop or a longer stay for a holiday in the Saint Malo area with lots of interesting places to go.

I booked a room with twin beds and a bath, ended up with a double bed and a shower.
Travelled with a dog and had to pay 10 euros extra for the dog which I wasn't aware of when I booked.

Location is excellent and very close to Saint Malo city centre by car. It is a good balance between cost, car park and being close to Saint Malo. It is also good for be based for day trips like Mont Saint Michel and Dinan. The hotel was very clean. All Covid 19 protections were in place. Breakfast was at the standard of Ibis with everything necessary for the day. Staff was really welcoming. And last, there are many shops at walking distance. So, it is something good for the family before you leave.

Checknin was a bit slow as about 3 others arrived at the same time.

Wow, fab views!

If you want to stay in a picturesque, traditional hamlet in Spain this is it. Beautiful landscape and an amazing building. Food was pleasant and the couple who run it are very welcoming. En-suite more of a wet room, taking a shower leaves the loo a bit wet, but overall, we loved it.

This was our last stop-over on our way back to Jersey from a 3 week long road trip to Sweden. The hotel is in a good location, close to the Madeleine Shopping centre and not far from The Grand Aquarium of St Malo.
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was a decent size for three people, including a foldable bed for our son. the bathroom was a decent size too and all was very clean. The breakfast had a good spread and we didn't leave hungry.
Behind the hotel is a Buffalo Grill which serves great food.
Recommend for families that want to take their children to the aquarium.

Wonderfully my room had a large door leading to a private balcony. No window. So no air unless the door was open. No latch was provided to prevent it from being wide open. Not very safe.
The mattress had some sort of thick foam rubber topping. This made it feel as though there was a permenant electric blanket on high all night. No air and too hot. Not the usual experience at an Ibis hotel.

The beds were very comfortable and clean and the room was nice and warm.
However.....
The satellite signal for the English tv channels was useless, the signal kept breaking up making it virtually impossible to watch the tv.
The room could have been cleaner, the floor and skirting boards were dusty.
When I woke up the next day I found that the power to the sockets had been turned off since they were fitting new hairdryers in the unoccupied rooms. I found this quite irritating since I needed to charge my phone. I received no notification or apology for the inconvenience.
My last stay here I gave this place top marks and was looking forward to going back, unfortunately the standards seem to have dropped.

Perfect for our needs - we were getting the ferry the next morning and wanted somewhere reasonably priced to stay. This Ibis hotel ticked the boxes. Well placed for the ferry port , clean room , pleasant staff , good price. would definitely recommend . Had a meal at the buffalo grill attached to the hotel - really good.

We've used this hotel a number of times. For the money it's perfectly acceptable. Rooms and clean and comfortable (with air con). Staff and bar area are nice. Not had the breakfast, but have no reason to assume this wouldn't be ok. Very close to the hyper market (across the car park) if you want to shop. It's a reasonably priced hotel, so perhaps the area is not that special - but we don't expect the Ritz for that money! Decent deck area to sit out and have a drink when weather is nice. One thing missing is tea/coffee making facilities in the room, other than that no complaints. Will continue to stay here.

Not a pleasant experience

This stay was stopover en route to car ferry for trip to UK.
Generally this is a budget hotel well priced and ideal location for the port. What also appealed to us was the on site restaurant.
On arrival and at check in (Mid afternoon) we requested a table for dinner that evening and was told the restaurant was fully booked and that we should return to reception at 6pm to see if we could be accommodated.

This we did and waited while the manager checked in a couple who had just arrived, who where offered a table for dinner??.

When we presented ourselves as requested we where told yet again that the restaurant was fully booked when I pointed out the injustice the manager treated us with contempt and offered us our dinner sat in the reception area which was a joke.

We had to drive into St Malo for dinner while people who had arrived after us had a pleasant evening in the hotel.

Never Again!! we will not stay with this Ibis in St Malo again

Nice trendy hotel, close to shopping mall and larger shops. Nice room, good shower (hot and good pressure), no bath, hair dryer, free parking, great family room with small pull out bed for child that folds back to a desk when not needed. Room was a bit on the small side as it had a large king size bed but still very nice. Air conditioning was great!

Fab modern hotel with great food

Clean, modern hotel. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Room clean. A bit small cause of the extra bed but that can't be helped. Food was fabulous, had a beautifully cooked steak at dinner.

Only used for one night - but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and how good the hotel was for the money!
Very good value - right next door to hypermarket if you need it - and only a few mins away from the channel ferry back to Jersey
Rooms on small side - but very clean and tidy - bed was comfy though
Has a bar and a small restaurant too (limited choice though - but useful)
Overall pretty impressed - will use again for sure - especially for that price!

Good place for a night stop

This hotel is ideal for a night stopover before travelling onwards. The room was small and a bit cramped, but very clean. The bed was large and comfortable with good quality bed linen. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Parking easy and plentiful next to the hotel. The food in the restaurant was OK and the menu was styled to suit most needs, even if you just wanted one course rather than a full meal. A couple of strange things. We both paid the same price for our meals, but I chose the entree buffet and my husband chose the plat de hour entree which was terrine de poisson. while he was served with a small slice of the terrine on a plate, yet I was able to take exactly the same terrine from the buffet, but larger, and then also have the choice of all the other items on the buffet as well. (Lucky me :)) The buffet choice was varied and tasty by the way. One other small thing. The website advertised the price for a dog overnight as being 8 euros but we were charged 10. No big deal, but just a bit odd. Breakfast buffet good and varied. Finally, the hotel can be a bit difficult to find as it is in a commercial zone on the edge of St Malo and once in the zone there are no signs to direct you to the hotel. However, I would stop there again. Very convenient for stopping before catching the early morning ferries. Only about ten minutes drive from the hotel to the check in.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay just for the one night in Saint Malo then I would recommend this hotel. It is simple but very pleasant, clean and conveinant. It is only 5-10 min drive from the ferry and right near the aquarium, which is well worth visit, as well as quite a few other shops.

Nice well stocked breakfast buffet although it has increased in price to €9.50 (was €8), but still worth it to fill up before you start the day. Hotel is out from centre of St Malo but easy to get to the walled part of town, either by bus which stops near by or by car.

We only needed a place for the night, so a bit out of town didn't matter.
It is located in a shopping area, outside town. In our case it was a good thing as town of St. Malo was covered in fog, but at the hotel we could sit outside in the sun. Drive in to town is about 5 minutes.

Located a few kilometres outside St Malo, this hotel is ideal for a stop-off on the way back to the cross-channel ferry. Conveniently-situated just off the main road into St Malo, the Ibis easy to find and situated in a retail park. It's only a few minutes' drive to the Intra-muros where there are loads of restaurants, although the hotel has a decent enough restaurant itself. Rooms are clean, comfortable (we had a double with an extra bed, but there was still enough room); staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is nicely-furnished.

Enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The gentleman on reception in the evening was very pleasant and helpful.
All the reception staff were helpful.
I did request a ground floor room but was allocated a room on the first floor. Ground floor would have been better.

Ideal for Night Before Ferry Journey

The hotel was clean and modern, the staff were friendly and helpful. There is ample parking and the hotel has free Wi-Fi. It is also next to a hypermarket for last minute shopping and petrol. The rooms are quite small and there are no tea/coffee making facilities but for us, that was not a problem. This was our third stay and we will use again whenever we are sailing from St Malo.

Good Location and Great Service

Convenient to Motorway, Easily found and Public Transport running regularily (100yds approx to bus stop)., Used bus to City Attractions no need to use the car. Supermarket and Shopping Centre beside Bus Stop. Hotel Staff very helpful with local information and maps. Very clean rooms, comfortable bed, restaurant excellent with good selection on the menu.

Bad receptionist

Hotel was OK. Room was clean but very small for 3 people. When we arrived receptionist (man) was quite rude and unhelpful. Worst point about this hotel. Our room was not ready and we were sent away without any explanation.Later on others receptionists (ladies) were very good and friendly.

Two Contrasting Stays

We stayed on the Monday night and also the Thursday night. We always choose this hotel for its location, convenience and price. Had we stayed just on the Monday night for the first time we would not have returned! The menu choice as restricted - we wanted the Duck, but they had run out. I chose the buffet, but there were no serving utensils, and the both the prawns and salmon had seen better days!. My wife chose lamb \"from the market\" which was tasty, but accompanied by a separate dish of bland noodles - a strange combination. During the night, as the air temperature fell, so our room developed a smell of animals (probably a dog) - presumably the air freshner had run out. Why are animals allowed in any room at this hotel? Could they not provide specific rooms for those guests who feel they have to take their animals with them? We did comment on our disappointment, but all the receptionist said was \"sorry\". On the Thursday, however, everything was much better - fuller menu and better organised. No smell of animals during the night! Breakfast was ok but nobody seemed to be supervising and monitoring food levels. They run out of a particular bread and their excellent torte. We had to request these items and wait for nearly 15 minutes for them to be heated/warmed up.

Convenient for business trips or passing by

Not that far from the center, but outside of the outrageously expensive \"inside the city wall\" area. Hotel is clean, recent, and reasonably priced.
