There was no airconditioning and it was stifling hot in the room. I was able to open the window a bit, which indeed had a special latch attached, but it still felt uncomfortable. There were no curtains. I also find the disposable cups not suitable. One indeed leaked just after one drink. It all is just the bear minimum. A poor cousin from next door B&B.

Don't stay here- try the B&B Hotel next door

Lizard in the room, no electricity throughout the night and in the morning which meant showering in the dark (at least the lack of light concealed the hairs in the bathroom which we had seen the day before!). No one in reception, no breakfast available, and no response to messages to the hotel to seek to resolve. There were a lot of grumpy customers leaving the hotel in the morning and not one single person from the hotel staff to be found anywhere.

Usual mass accommodation hotel, however to our shock, the room was big, clean and the bed was massive. Reception were very helpful, with a bowl of jelly sweets on the counter. A couple of bars and restaurants within a short walk. Plenty of free parking.

Convenient for 1 night stop over on way to St Malo ferry but in a rather scruffy commercial complex. Basic facilities in room, bed was comfy enough, bathroom dated and could do with an update. Shower over bath difficult to access if you're not very agile ! 1 tea bag between 2 people - a bit stingy - and paper cups to drink it out of ! Unsecure wifi kept dropping out in bedroom, TV had a spell of pixilating. But cheap, so you get what you pay for !

The rooms are not like in the pictures. Not sure who wrote previous reviews. There were bugs and the mattresses where old where you can feel the springs. We reserved two rooms for the weekend because if the reviews. We left early in the morning after no sleep due to mattress and smell. We went to another hotel which was way better. Manager refused to issue any help or refund. It took Expedia 4 days before they could speak with manager and he stated that we did not complain which we did to staff at reception. No staff overnight so we had to wait. Very disappointing. Wish we could upload pictures here. But we will on google. Terrible stay.

5 minutes from the Hotel there are 2 good restaurants - one an excellent Italian restaurant , the other a magical creperie The Campanile has an excellent buffet breakfast the night we were there there was no evening food possibly because they had a large coach party.

Unfortunately the air conditioning did not work but made a loud noise all night even when switched off. This noise kept me awake until 3.30am and finally I got to sleep with tissue paper in my ears and the spare pillow over my ears. Appalling stay!

Recommended for quick overnight

Basic but perfectly suitable for a quick overnight stay. The doors do bang a bit when they close like any fire safety door and beds are on firm side but for the price excellent. We slept made a cup of tea and showered and we’re off on the road. Recommended

Area around the hotel looks a bit unexciting but in fact a very nice little village within easy walking distance. Good creperie on the main street, home cooking, local produce reasonable price.

Have stayed in a Campanile hotel before in Bruges that was fine. This one is a bit tired the main building is fine the room blocks and rooms themselves do need some refurbishment. Sanitary ware and taps seem to have been replaced recently but basin was badly cracked.
Carpet did not look good and exterior definitely needed major decoration.
Otherwise staff helpful and friendly meals quite good room size and beds all OK

Room was clean and tidy. Bed a bit hard but OK. Twin room but only one extra pillow? Why? Advertised tea & coffee facilities but only two coffee sachets, one tea bag and the two little milk containers were out of date and had turned. Having just driven from Bordeaux it was pretty disappointing not to have a cup of coffee at least. Having said all that I slept well, the air con was effective and we got the ferry first thing no problem. As an overnight stay it was acceptable but a bit of a disappointment considering it was not a cheap hotel. Probably won't stay again.

Perfect stopover on a journey

Although not usually in the picturesque corner of town , Campanille Hotels are reliably clean and comfortable and do not smell of stale cigarettes. They are perfect for a stopver on a long drive through France. I sleep well !
Although I do not need it myself I was pleased to see there was facilities for disabled guests. Parking, ramps into the restaurant, ground floor rooms and a seat in the shower.

Accommodation is very good and very clean, with free wifi. However, the food in the restaurant is ok, but overpriced. Over 21 Euros for a steak is excessive. Meals of the day are about 16 Euros. Still a lot for what you get.

We would have preferred the hotel to have been closer into St Malo but it had a good supermarket close by and we were able to reach the ferry port within 20 mins.

A nice stopping point out of the centre of St Malo

This hotel is in a very nice location near to a large local supermarket with self service buffet in less than 3 mins driving distance due to busy road and a Gormet Wok in walking distance which is an all you can eat Chinese buffet for 17 Euros.

We were led to believe that the hotel was on one level due to info on the web site. We were with a dog and found the people above csme in late and seemed to walk around constantly for s long time which we could hear and unsettling our dog. The television volume went off at 11pm and nothing we could do could get any volume back. Not impressed. The bed was very hard snd the pillows which there were not enough of were very uncomfortable. The worst nights dleep i have had in a hotel.

Our ferry was delayed, so when we landed at St malo we tried to phone the hotel; it was just before 2300hrs. There was no reply except to say that the hotel was closed and then went to advertising blurb. We arrived at the hotel and tried to phone again. Unfortunately as we had booked through Hotels.com we didn't have a Camponile confirmation number so couldn't proceed with the automated system! So we went to the adjacent Premierclasse hotel to book with them. Their service was second to none!
In the morning, I tried to convey my predicament to to lady manager at the Camponile but to no avail. She was unsympathetic and not prepared to understand or appreciate the situation; certainly not conducive to good Camponile relations!
So, although we have stayed here on many occasions, the managements attitude has sorely put us off!

We were catching a ferry from St Malo to Portsmouth, so wished to stay overnight beforehand after a busy visit to family. The room was excellent with a good bathroom and extremely comfortable beds. After a short walk around the retail centre, where there was Sunday opening, we had a meal in the hotel restaurant which was enjoyable with good choices and prompt service.

Shopping trip in St. Malo

A shopping trip! Hotel in pleasant area only problem the noise of traffic but we knew the position of hotel when we booked. Safe parking was our main concern. We only had one buffet meal as we did not feel value for money ! We would however stay again. The bed rather hard but bedding beautifully white. Staff very welcoming.

Nice, but..........

used this hotel as a stop over after arriving on a ferry. Easy to get to.
Poor phone reception in rooms resulted in a few people outside making calls. Not too quietly either! Wi Fi worked well in the room though.
Walls are very thin and could easily hear what was going on in adjacent rooms.
Bed was really comfortable for me as it had a hard mattress.
I didn't use the restaurant facilities so cannot comment.

Perfect for an overnight stay with a bicycle

I needed a hotel within easy cycling distance of the ferry port the next morning and somewhere I could keep the bike secure. I had a little difficulty finding the hotel but once there I was well taken care of. The room was convenient and clean but the wifi was a bit unreliable. Food in the restaurant and the service were first class. The staff were most helpful in guiding me to the centre of St Malo the next morning.

The notice on the reception door indicated that the reception was open from 6am, which was the time I needed to check out, but no one was there by 6.10am, so I called the out of hours number and was informed that the reception would be open at 6.30am.

Lovely modern hotel just outside St Malo.

We used this Hotel as a stop over, prior to getting the Ferry to Jersey the following morning. To be honest, we weren't expecting too much for the price we paid, but were pleasantly surprised by the standards and facilities on offer. Quite a big room, with TV, comfortable bed, Air Con, kettle with tea and coffee, generous storeage, modern and clean. We would have stayed for breakfast in the large restaurant area, but had to be on the road early the next day.
All in all, we will definitely be back, and spend more time there. A brilliant Hotel for the money.

Close to the St Malo Ferry

Very convenient for the St Malo ferry. It only takes 15 minutes to get to the car ferry terminal. Hotel is on a commercial estate where there are several other budget hotels right next door. The only sight negative is that it is close to a busy main road with quite a lot of traffic noise.A real positive is that there is a wonderful Chinese restaurant in walking distance. The hotel provided a very wide selection of nice things to eat for breakfast.

Hotel too close to motorway and so noisy

The hotel was difficult to find as there where major roadworks on the exit and had deviations extending our journey time, not the hotels fault granted, but as we had booked six months in advance and they had our email address would have been nice to have had a heads up.The hotel is so close to the motorway, literally running alongside behind a hedge ,that the traffic noise was constant until the early hours.
The room itself was fine but the standard of cleanliness in the bathroom wasn't very good.The floor was filthy and hadn't been mopped so that when you stood on the bathmat with wet feet from out of the shower the dirt literally came through the mat .They didn't even have a loo brush which surprised us, and had just about enough toilet roll left on the roll to see us through an overnight stop.!! Yes, we could have asked for more, but we expect better from a major hotel chain.
The restaurant was bad value for the money and wouldn't recommend to anyone.The help yourself buffet was both poor and lacking in choice.On the plus side their is a major supermarket chain on the complex nearby, who do provide good value meals until 8pm.
The staff where very nice and helpful.

A Bed for the Night

Small room but most suitable for short stopover - I was catching a morning ferry and only 15 minutes away from port on straightforward route into St Malo.

Bathroom modern, bright and above all very clean. Efficient check in and out.

Motel was one of three purpose built stopover motels along road - One could have been disturbed by the continuous noise of parking vehicles throughout the early hours.

But for value I would recommend it for what it is..............a bed for the night

clean comfortable room, you can here the traffic in room but no problem. it is near the main road to Rrennes. due to the late docking of the ferry we arrived at the hotel at 10.30 it was difficult to locate as the hotel is set alongside other hotels. phone ahead to hotel if ferry is late as reception closes at 11pm

Excellent place to stay before the ferry home

We were very happy with our room but the highlight of our stay was the excellent restaurant both for an evening meal and breakfast. The staff, particularly Manu were very accommodating and helpful. Brilliant!

Great hotel but....

Hotel room was perfect. Sadly we did not enjoy our meal in the restaurant. My steak, at 14 euros was extremely tough, my wife's salmon not particularly good. we had stayed at the Campanile at St Herblain Nantes the previous evening where the meals were superb. It was a shame to be disappointed at the St Jouan de Gueret restaurant

overnight stay prior to catching morning ferry

This hotel was ideal for our requirements, it was clean and comfortable. It offered everything we needed. Our room was ready for us eventhough we arrived early. The only slight downside was that it was close to a busy road.Overall however I would rate this hotel as very good and very good value for money.

St Malo Campinile Hotel

Hotel was very modern, immaculate room and free wifi, restaurant was very good and secure car park, locked after 11.00pm with access code if needed after hours. Very local to ferry port and large intermarche close by. Will use again when around St Malo area.

Great Hotel positioned only 15 mins from ferry terminal, we arrived at 1 am, arranged collection of key out of hours from automated machine through very friendly staff who spoke perfect English. The room was clean, modern with a very confy bed. We made coffee in the take away cups provided in the rooms and left first thing, the rooms are motel style so the door of the room goes straight to the car park, very easy for luggage.........overall fantastic!

We have used this hotel as an overnight stay for the last 4/5 years before embarking on the early morning Brittany Ferry to Portsmouth, mainly for its closeness to St Malo. We were really inpressed this year as the room we stayed in had been given a makeover. There was a modern, fully tiled walk-in shower room complete with dual shower and the layout of the room had changed slightly making it feel it was larger than it actually was. The wardrobe area had been painted a bright lime green (corporate colours?) which took a bit of getting used to but it did actually brighten up the room. My only winge was that there was only one chair which was wooden and it would have been nice to sit in something comfortable that didn't move - we had just had a long journey from Southern Brittany and a soft, comfy chair or two would have rounded off a pleasant overnight stay.
