Nice cosy hostel where the staff were friendly in a good location within walking distance of the central station and old town.
Found it to be very good value for money- make sure to read the details of the hostel as you do have to make your own bed up and hire towels separately in case those things are an issue for you.
Found the room to be very quiet, clean, with a comfortable bed and was a good temperature. Lockers are a bit on the small side to fit a suitcase/larger bag but as there's plenty of floor space you can pop these out of the way.
Attached bathroom was clean and showers were good- plenty of hot water and space for clothes etc. There is only 1 toilet which is inside one of the 2 shower rooms attached to the room but there is also another toilet just down the corridor and plenty of sink space so didn't cause any issues for us even with all the bunks occupied.
Enjoyed the sauna and appreciated the map of the hostel given when checking in which made finding my room a lot easier.
Decent wifi throughout too.
I think there was also free pasta available but didn't personally try this.
Would definitely stay again and recommend.

I booked a private room for 2 guests. And I would not recommend it to anyone.

Pro: on Normalm district so it is close to most major attractions.

Cons: the property is not worth the price they are charging, and here is why -
1. There are no lifts or ramps on the property making it inconvinient to carry your luggage.
2. There are codes for every entrance which keeps changing instead of a card system.
3. Rooms are extremely small with
A. no ventilation
B. very dimly lit
C. No mirror to get ready
4. Although room details mentions bathroom, they are all common.
5. All showers are in basement and half of them are out of order.
6. Toilets don't have paper towels. Only an unhygienic cloth towel.
7. Showers don't have hooks to hang clothes or shelves to keep toiletries. Also, there is no shower gel or shampoo.
8. Stoves are switched off after 10 pm so you can't cook after that.
9. You have to remove shoes outside but they don't provide you bathroom slippers to wear on property.
10. Lastly, the luggage room is in basement which has narrow circular staircase and heavy doors making it dangerous to move luggage.

Nice and clean room, with a clean and nice common rooms. Funky old building, and reception was super helpful.

Just be aware they charge for sheets on-top of the room rate (30SEK) that's payable when you arrive.

They could have some more toilets and showers, but it's not a massive issue.

Delightful hostel with friendly staff- clean rooms, nice common area- walking distance to central station, near bus route and shopping areas. Reception opens at 9 am in case you arrive as we did on an early train - so just had to chill a bit. Lots of friendly guests - would stay there again

The accommodation was fairly comfortable, however checking out was made a bit difficult when the keycode changed the day i was leaving and was a little effort trying to leave. The doors can be noisy aswell as when people are leaving and entering when trying to sleep along with metal bed frames whwre you can hear every time somebody is turning over. The accommodation is catered for large amount of travellers, so would recommend if you're with a group or up for socialising.

I can't really find the right words at the moment. I have been travelling and staying in hostels around the world for over 15 years. I have never experienced negative and sarcasm from any hostel front of house reception staff before. I don't fully understand why this hostel gets such good ratings and reviews. There are only a couple of good things that I can say. Its walking distance from the train station and old town and the cleaning staff are friendly and are trying there best to keep an old run down building clean.
The hostel is a maze of corridors and levels. The hostel gives you a map of the hostel which is useless. Its the hardest place to navigate through. You have to feel sorry for the guests who are stuck in the rooms located in the basement. There is no natural light or fresh air.
The hostel has so many heavy doors which requires you to enter a different access code for most of them. It seems to be a complete waste of time. I don't understand the heavy security. The bathrooms and toilets could do with an upgrade.
Overall its a disappointing place of accommodation to stay when visiting Sweden.
I did meet some very friendly and switched on travelers staying there which made me feel like staying for the 2 nights that I'd paid for. Otherwise I probably would have left the hostel early.
The hostel definitely needs a heavier local Swedish staff presence.
Stay around the corner at the Generator hostel.

The hostel was clean, safe, and in a very convenient location for both walking and public transportation.

My biggest complaint was that the check in process could have been smoother. I personally didn’t have issues, but one of my roommates checked in at 10pm and didn’t have linens. By the time he was able get in touch with staff & get linens, it was 11:30pm and him trying to put his sheets on his bed was a big disturbance to everyone in the room. Many people who checked in at night were confused and had trouble finding things.

Another one of my roommates checked in during the day, was explicitly told to come to that particular room and was given an access code for that room, and had settled in for a few hours before a staff member abruptly came in and asked if everyone there was in the right room. They realized they had assigned her to the wrong room, and made her collect all her things and move to a different room. The staff told her “It happens so no worries. It’s not your fault” as if she had done something wrong, and didn’t bother apologizing at all for the mistake he clearly made or for the disturbance it caused her. My roommate was too nice to complain but I was pretty displeased by the service.

Last thing I would say is that it’s not a quiet place. Things are noisy on the street and within the hostel. The walls were VERY thin. Didn’t bother me much but it certainly bothered some other people there.

I arrived after hours, although the booking said the desk was open until midnight. I hadn’t received an email with check in stipulations, so I ended up going to another hostel. When I arrived the next morning, the staff were excellent and took care of me right away, securing my refund as well. Take care when booking in this part of the world, as a 24 hour staff is not the norm. This site did not provide my email to the hostel, so the disconnect caused the issue. Still a great hostel with lots of character and outstanding staff. Thank you!

Do NOT waste your money and safty on this place.

Terrible place. DO NOT STAY HERE.
Problems:
1. Dirty - it doesn't look THAT bad. But every single pillow, mattress and cover is FULL of dust. I know because after choking from the ones in my room i actually looked around for a bed to sleep at, hoping the ones at the common area get cleaned.
I dont have dust allergy but if you have asthma you might actually choke.
2. Overly soft mattress - I learned that in Sweden most mattress are on the softer side but the ones in the room weren't suitable for sleeping on. My friend and I are in our 20s while writing this and we both woke up with back pain.
3. Safty Hazzard - so after the entrance you need to take your shoes off. But it's too cold so you must wear socks BUT, most floors are covered with an easy to clean flooring which is rather slippery. The first time i managed to balance myself. Second, i tumbled on some stairs and there are no railings, so i didn't have anything to catch.
4. Too expensive for such an abysmal place.
5. The bar next to them which they recommend and work with is just as bad just in different way.

The good:
1. Close and easy to get to from the central station.

I don't usually review hotels/hostels but this place deserves one. If you are doubting where to stay in Stockholm please look no further and stay here. I met the best people in this hostel and absolutely loved my whole experience. Maybe I was only lucky but either way the hostel was great and the restaurant next door is perfect, we all got a discount for meatballs and two beers which was super handy. The courtyard was connected with the mentioned restaurant and on my first night there was some program and a bit of live music happening, so indeed the discounted beer was well appreciated ;). Rooms and the areas were clean, maybe only the bathrooms could do with a bit more clean but it was nothing major. Staff also very nice and responded very quickly to my emails with some extra info. This was my first hostel experience ever and to be fair it will be very hard to beat it, the bar was set pretty high. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Cosy hotel, great location

This hostel was one of the better ones that I have come accross in Europe. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the staff. Everything is code access which meant not having to worry about losing a key or swipe card. There are lots of funky areas to hang out, a spacious and well equipt communal kitchen and the coolest part is that they have saunas! They also have lots of activities on offer and a supply of free pasta in the kitchen. There is a restaurant next door where you can get one discounted beer per guest. They offer free hire of ice skates which was cool. We stayed in the private room. It is in the basement so a little dark but it's nice and cosy. Bathroom was a bit cramped but shower heated quickly. Only a 10min walk from central station and that was in snow. Within walking distance to Gamla Stan however, also easy to take the metro from central station. They offer free coffee for guests after 11am. There are two parks accross the road which would be gorgeous to hang out in during summer. I thought this was a great value hostel in Stockholm.

Simply The Best!

I couldn't recommended city backpackers hostel enough, staying here will help to bring the city alive. The location is perfect, this place is wonderful, clean, the staff are excellent, the facilities are perfect and at least in my experience the guest were fabulous. I travel alone and was nervous about staying in hostels, this was one of the first I stayed in and I was spoilt with my experience, it's certainly one of the best. So if you're considering it, jump right in you won't regret.

At first the guy told me front desk was coming at 1am, thats an hour after. So i waited and forgot about the time because wifi was so fast. Then I left my luggage to go around the City. When I came back everything was ready. I didnt know that I was sharing 6 other bed space with guys but found out it turns good because they were quiet and everyone respects their privacy. I was just not used to sharing rooms with guys, I guess thats backpacking goodies experienced. I recommend this pleace. Highly.

Amazing Hostel

Everyone is friendly, even the staffs are very willing to help. Free coffee and tea after 11am. Nice place to just chill after a day walking around. Free pasta in the kitchen and lots of fridge space. Sauna at 19:00 for the ladies. Anyone looking to do laundry, it'll cost SEK 50. 10-15mins walk from city centre and many restaurants within walking distance. No shoes allowed in hostel. Hostel entrance and room entrance via code so it's safe.

We enjoyed our stay at City Backpackers - a friendly & social hostel with activities arranged to help you meet others. We did the city bike tour and would def recommend. We had breakfast on one of the days - muesli, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and a roll. We paid 65 SEK which is a lot but not unusual compared to Stockholm prices - it's a fairly pricey city! Immaculately kept hostel and there is a restaurant next door which offers discounted food for hostel guests - the food is good! Love the no shoe indoors policy as keeps the hostel clean & homely :).

My first time staying in a hostel. The room was nice, with large windows. The kitchen had everything that was needed for cooking using hobs and had free pasta. Lots of toilets available and a sauna even. A couple of showers needed updating but they are doing this - and in my opinion fine shower rooms, even the joint ones; warm and powerful. Many spaces to chill out including the common room, kitchen, reception, outside and sofa area near the ground floor bedrooms. Renting a bicycle was affordable and a great activity for an afternoon - highly recommend! Everybody was friendly and I would recommend this nearby the city centre hostel.

My friend and I visited Stockholm for the first time and our stay at City Backpackers was just okay. We reserved a private room with shared bathroom. When we arrived we were shown to our room by one of the staff and upon opening the door, realized our room hadn't been cleaned. We were left to wait in the common area for a few minutes while the room was cleaned. The room itself was tiny with one bunkbed (that squeaked with any sort of movement) and one wooden chair. The worst part- the windows had boards over them. No natural light came in, so was pitch black when the lights were off. This is something that should be disclosed when booking or even checking in, but wasn't. When we requested to be moved we were told the place was fully booked.
Other than our room issues, the hostel served its purpose. The neighborhood was very central, an easy walk to Central Station and Gamla Stan. Good cafes and restaurants in the area. The Thursday night Swedish meatball making event was a fun way to mix and mingle with the other guests, and was vegetarian-friendly. Overall not a bad experience, but will probably stay somewhere else next time I visit Stockholm.

Nice Hostel with relaxed ambiance, slight mix up with the room meaning i didnt have an en suite which was annoying, also the room was loud as there was some sort of fan / heather constantly on, luckily didnt bother me too much.

Nice hostel and place to stay. Would recommend going to Central Badet, a spa about 5 minute walk from the hostel, expensive but well worth the money.

This is an excellent hostel. I was warmly greeted by the recptionist who had a friendly, positive attitude. The staff were also helpful in giving directions, tips etc. a great ambience with a nice bunch of people staying at the hostel. Free pasta for those on a budge.
The hostel has all the facilities you'd need, is clean and in a central location.

Warn Down but Acceptable Budget Accommodations

City Backpackers Hostel was acceptable but the place definitely needs some TLC. Things in general, especially the bathrooms, appear warn down. The bathrooms were sometimes out of soap or toilet paper and were definitely not cleaned very well. The bunk beds are from the famous Swedish big box flat-pack furniture store, so you will have to expect creaking and shaking every time you or your bunk mate moves or shifts in bed. The room I stayed in was quite large, but the acoustics meant the snoring of a roommate would reverberate throughout -- so keep ear plugs handy. The kitchen facilities were handy, though you can expect many (especially on weekends) pasta makers using the kitchen during dinnertime. I'm glad to say, without equivocation, that the Wi-Fi worked great. The location, as has been stated, is ideal for walking to some nearby districts and sites, for catching buses and for getting to Central Station. Most importantly, the price was right in an expensive city. If you don't mind putting up with some irritations, then you might find City Backpackers Hostel an acceptable place to stay, too.

Highly recommended budget accommodation

Stayed at City Backpackers Hostel for one night as part of my weekend trip to Sweden. The hostel is conveniently located less than 10 minutes away from Stockholm central station, and is within walking distance of shopping areas and Gamla Stan, the old town.

The hostel itself was really comfortable and had a homey, cozy atmosphere. Bathroom and toilet facilities were shared but were kept really clean. Reception was friendly and helpful.

If your after some excellent Swedish design for a low cost and great atmosphere, then you've come to the right place. Centrally located and minutes away from the Central Bus station and the shops, this is such an amazing place with a great atmosphere. They have special events during the week too for the stayers like Swedish movie nights every night.haha No wonder it's always booked. Oddly a Swedish hostel thing, free uncooked pasta to go around. Just bring your own sauce. I liked how there were numerous private bathrooms for use, a sauna at alllocated times (so Swedish), a luggage area to store your bags just in case you are leaving Stockholm way after check-out, this is a must book. I was lucky to have a very quiet group in my dorm sans the snoring and everyone was so polite during my stay. There are pirvate sockets and a lamp shade in most beds too for your use. Free WiFi which is always a major plus and numerous computers for use. Just book and come!!!

Smidigt hostel

Spenderade väldigt lite tid på hostel, men tyckte det var ett fint och smidigt ställe för en övernattning!

Roommates are very friendly and helpful.

I didn’t go to the sauna in the night but I tried this next morning. And then I was afraid that it was not warm and hot there.

Något som störde inne i sovsalen var att dörren till toalett och dusch störde pga att den gnisslade... Så den behöver smörjas.. annars var allt ok..
Tror det var rum Sandhamn.

Great atmosphere

Really great place to stay, affordable and with a nice atmosphere. A lot of young and social people. The only downside is that it can get a somewhat noisy in the evening, even though its supposed to be quiet by 11.

Freundliches Personal, jedoch Frühstück nicht vor 10 Uhr bereit. Schade finde ich auch, dass rund die Hälfte der Zimmer um UG sind und somit keine Fenster haben (Küche und grösserer Aufenthaltsraum auch im UG). Schliessfächer im Zimmer sind klein. Es hat aber im UG noch grössere. Ansonsten sauber und praktisch.

Mycket fin hostel

Det bästa hostel jag varit på hittills. Gratis bastu, gratis matartiklar, 10+ toaletter, 4st imac med tillgång till internet, tysta rum.

Våningssängen jag sov i var dock hemsk knarrande.

コスパ抜群！

ストックホルムセントラル駅から徒歩で行ける距離にあり、またDrottninggatanも近いので、飲食やショッピングには困らない位置にあり、アクセスが良い。
12人部屋に宿泊したが、比較的静かであり、部屋にはパスコードがないと入れないシステムになっているのでセキュリティもしっかりしている。
トイレやシャワーの数も多く、また個室なので、安心して利用できる。
ただ１点、ドミトリーのほとんどは地下にあり、少し急な階段を降りなければならない。スーツケースなどの重たい荷物は移動が不便なので注意が必要である。
毎回ホテルや個室を利用しているが、久しぶりにドミトリーに宿泊した。１泊のみで、あまり宿泊者と関わることはなかったが、コスパの良い宿であった。

位置好，地方乾淨企理。旅舍経常有活动安排，每週有一次免费晚餐。厨房裡分房間雪櫃，有免费食品，員工親切。入住非常滿意，性價比高。

I only wanted to sleep somewhere when I was in Stockholm but I ended up felling in love with this place. The location was great, people were really nice and the hostel was so cute. I highly recommend this place! ❤️

Perushyvä, siisti hostelli todella keskeisellä paikalla. Yövyin katutasossa sijaitsevassa yksityishuoneessa, jonne ei kantautunut juurikaan melua huoneen ulkopuolelta. Wc-tilat olivat siistit.

One of the best hostels Ive ever been in

A nice \"hip\" youth hostel. Very clean, very modern with a big kitchen and a nice common area with planty places to sit and lay.

The room was quite nice and clean, with big lockers. No windows, but some glass bricks in the ceiling and a very good ventilation. Enough bathrooms and toilets everywhere, very clean again.

The hostel is quite big, but you get a little \"map\" when checking in and accurate directions to your room. Not noisy at all, slept very well. 2 sockets at every bed.

Free coffee and tea all day, and very nice and helpful staff.

Distance from the main station walkable in about 10 minutes

Would recommend, and would visit again.
