The room had terrible sound insulation. I could literally hear conversations in the room next door, as well as every time the guests above me used the shower, bathroom, or ran the water. On top of that, I could hear cleaning staff in the hallways and other noises throughout the day. I stayed 5 nights and didn’t have a single good night’s sleep.

The mattress made things worse. It was extremely uncomfortable, with noticeable indentations on both sides, creating a raised “mountain-like” effect in the middle. And the pillows were a whole different story. One was super thin, paper thin, and the other was too thick!

The room itself was uncomfortably small. There was no space to open my luggage except on the desk, which I had to constantly move things around on whenever I needed the surface. The closet was tiny, and the room lacked basic amenities I would expect from a 4-star hotel, such as an iron and ironing board, hot water kettle, and coffee machine.

I was also surprised by the hotel’s welcome message, which essentially warned guests not to trust the cleaning staff and advised that all valuables be kept in the safe. For a 4-star hotel, this felt very off-putting. Overall, I don’t think the stay was worth the price.

On a positive note, the location is fantastic. There’s a metro station just 5 minutes away, the city center is walkable in 20–25 minutes, and there are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby.

Great (firm, but comfy) bed, good access to fresh/outdoor air, a mini fridge, kettle & nespresso maker (in an 'upgraded' room at least). Quiet area with good access to Metro & tourist spots, so a really nice balance. Walls could be thin when neighbors came back post-bar-hopping but most of the time it was really quiet. Wifi (top floor) was a bit slow. Nice open staircases for use instead of elevator if you wanted to. Breakfast didn't change much daily, but had an extremely wide variety so it wan't a problem (I stayed almost a week for a professional meeting), and they had GF bread if you requested. Addressing an earlier review, the water itself is fine, just a bit of lingering sewer gas occaisionallly (common, not a problem). Overall a really good stay, and I'll definitely re-book the next time I am in Madrid.

The hotel was really nice old world charm and close proximity to shopping for walking, etc. Only draw back was one of the elevators wasn't working and had to drag suitcases up/down flights of stairs which was not ideal. Also breakfast was always cold??

The hotel felt tucked away from high traffic with a park just across the street. Yet it was a convenient walk to so many restaurants and shops. The staff was incredibly helpful and spoke excellent English, which was not common at other locations in Madrid. There were two elevators; however, the elevator that was located on ground level was not working. We had to carry our luggage up a short flight of stairs to the working elevator that could only hold two people with luggage at a time. It is a small hotel, so even being on the seventh floor, the wait wasn't too long for an open elevator. We enjoyed a quick bite and drink at the restaurant, which is so convenient.

Great location, safe and beautiful. My only complaint is the lack of response to questions before arriving at the hotel. I asked about parking 3x and never got a response. I also requested 2 separate beds and got no response, but got a room with 2 beds when we checked in.

The hotel is a very beautiful hotel, unfortunately I did not have a good experience because it seemed that by booking through Expedia I got the worst room in the hotel. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got when I went to front desk and did not have a good response from the lady at the front desk.
I had booked an interior room, which I don't remember seeing in the description, but not only was it an interior room, the view from the window was the fire stairs, and since it was the first floor, I was like in a hole.

The breakfast was great.

Great area, close to the metro and allowed early check in. Only negative was the water pressure, it was fantastic until it wasn’t. I turned the shower on and before I could get in the whole bathroom flooded - note to future guests, do not turn the water on full blast the drain can’t keep up! Went down to the reception to ask for more towels they said they’d send someone up to assist with cleaning up all the water. An hour later no one had showed up to our room; went back to the reception and he noted he wrote my room number down wrong and someone would be up right away… another 45 minutes later with still no one, and by now we just want to go to bed; I went down and asked if I could just have the towels myself to clean it up. The reception apologized and then sent someone up within 5 minutes. That was the only negative experience at the hotel. Other than that, it was great

My main complaint is the quality of soundproofing room to room.
I could hear the next rooms guests talking. Definitely hear their coughing. I knew when they used the toilet.
Other than that it was reasonable value for money. On a quiet square but close to everything.

Hotel was clean, beds comfy, location was good but bit hesitate to go out at night with the kids so ate in hotel or got taxi, no issues in the day.

Breakfast was ok, kids loved the donuts for breakie.

Only issue with the hotel is the lack of soundproofing, I could hear the rooms above and around me having showers etc and we were just unlucky that some of these were in the middle of the night. My kids are sound sleepers so never affected us too much.

Big shout out to the barman he went out his way to make my kids and me feel welcome.

The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the cleaning staff were absolutely the best I’ve encountered anywhere. The location is excellent—just a 2-minute walk to the nearest metro station, making it easy to get around Madrid. It took about 20 to 25 minutes to reach the Prado Museum, and the main shopping streets were also around 20 minutes away on foot. Breakfast was tasty and varied, with fresh options each morning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which really added to the experience. Overall, great value for money and a place I’d definitely stay at again.

Lovely two nights in Madrid

Staying near Alicante for a month we decided to have a short break in Madrid.
This hotel was in they perfect location. We had arrived in Madrid by train into Chamartin and got the metro L1 to Bilbao, the hotel was a 5 mins walk from there.
Check in was great and the reception staff really friendly and helpful.
Our room was lovely and clean.
The only negative was that the rooms are in no way soundproof! So if you're a light sleeper I would suggest taking some ear plugs.
We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food.
We covered all the main tourist attractions by foot, only using the metro to get to the main station, but the metro was very easy to use.
We found a lovely place to have brunch and also a great place for tapas just 5 mins walk from the hotel - the receptionist gave us a great recommendation.
All in all a fantastic stay for a great rate.

It's not right in the city center but there's metro nearby, but that metro has no escalator or elevator so if you have big luggage, beware you have to climb the stairs. We booked 2 rooms but was quite far apart on the same floor.

Weekend stay in Madrid. The hotel is nicely located, the room was relatively large, clean, and with a comfortable bed. The internet works well. The sound isolation is rather poor, noise from other rooms heard clearly in the morning. Did not have breakfast, although the buffet looked generous.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. My room was on the first floor near the restaurant and elevators (not recommended). No view of the city from my room, but it had large window for natural light. It was a small room with two twin beds just as I asked. It was a bit noisy in the hallway for my preference, but the room had all that I needed. The blackout curtains and decent blow dryer were a plus. Taxi was called by hotel and arrived in minutes. Staff were pleasant and helpful, no hassles. Two small bottles of water were offered in room at arrival but not replenished during my weeklong stay. I didn’t ask for more. Location was close to shops, bakery, small grocery store, cafes and the metro! I felt safe walking alone late at night. If one has younger kids the park across the street is lovely. Great overall! Thank you Gran Conde Duque.

Juan Luis was incredibly helpful and friendly. He was very welcoming from the moment we arrived. He checked us in fast. He greeted us each day we were there. Excellent service. Convenient home base for a week in Madrid

This was a lovely hotel in a very quiet neighborhood - convenient to all the sights of Madrid, but tucked away on a quiet street. My room was small but very clean with a comfortable bed and linens, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there was renovation underway on my floor, making it very noisy during the day. And there was a problem regulating temperature, so my room was always a bit too warm. That said, it was an amazing value and an ideal location. I plan to rebook there on my next visit.

This hotel was beautiful! We are on a 18 day bus tour and this has to be the prettiest hotel and most comfortable. My only complaint is there are not enough glasses for drinking and teeth brushing. Also the coffee machine in the buffet is complicated. But other than that it's great. Perfect location too!

It was a very nice hotel, location and cleanliness where just great. Housekeeping just lovely! Just one of the front desk ladies embarrassed me in front of other costumers. She was not showing discretion at all, she asked him me if the guy I was with was gonna sleep with me, knowing the room reservation was made only for one person, he was my best friend husband who very nicely offered himself to give me a city tour. She made things super awkward. Don’t think they comment was necessary.

Great hotel at a good location. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was excellent with good variety. Only minor complaint was the room was a bit warm. The air conditioner didn’t kick out cold air and the thermostat didn’t work as adjustments to it made no difference. That made it a bit difficult to sleep the first few nights until we started opening the window at night, which helped cool the room significantly. Not sure if the AC issue was just our room or if all of them were like that but otherwise, we had no issues.

This is an older hotel and it shows! The main lobby of the hotel is unique but dated. The rooms were adequate (on the smaller side). Our sheets and pillow cases were dirty and stained. However the cleaning staff is wonderful and friendly and took care of the issue right away.

The check in staff member (a lady) was extremely rude. We reserved two rooms . One queen sized and one room with two separate beds as we were traveling with two teenagers. We were given one room with a queen sized bed and one room with two twin sized beds that were joined together. On check in, this staff member was very clear in informing us there were no other room options. So We contacted Expedia to ask about the cancellation policy. The hotels check in lady was very upset that Expedia contacted her. She called our room to dispute our concerns rather than try to fix them. I brushed it off thinking this was a culture difference in Spain but we rented two other hotels while in Spain and we had nothing but positive experiences. I would never stay here again. Please look elsewhere- this hotel was not cheap and I think there are similar options in the area with less hassle, better adequate representation of their rooms and probably nicer people.

This hotel should get a higher rating from me. However, the room cleaning and service sector spoils our review of the hotel. On our first night at the hotel (6/25), the temperature in Madrid dropped to the mid-50s F . But there were no blankets provided in the room except a bed sheet. We had to cover with some of bath towers and our clothes for the night. The next day, we spoke to the front desk that we needed to add blankets and other items to our room. The young man at the front desk was polite and promised to inform the service team to have everything ready. However, when we returned to hotel in the evening, no blankets and other items were found . We went to the front desk again. The young man called to the service immediately and said the service would send stuffs to our room in half hour. But after two hours nothing happed. We had to talk to the front desk in third time. In the end, the young man serving at the front desk personally brought what we requested to our room. It was really a bad experience for us during this trip. It seems that the hotel service team completely ignores customer's legitimate requests and refuses to do what they are supposed do.
