It was nice that parking was available, however, the number of available spaces was too limited (although they accommodated by supplying a street parking pass, but extremely limited street parking availability late at night). Room was basic but clean. Bathroom extremely tiny. Could not accommodate larger person. Shower has high step-over ledge; anyone with mobility issues will have difficulty.

Courtyard parking for my motorcycle was very convenient. The rooms lack air conditioning and would certainly benefit at least by having a fan. While there is an elevator, many rooms still require climbing stairs either up or down.

Old-school stay on the outskirts of central Munich

I'll start with the staff because this is mostly run by the family. They're very warm and welcoming! Their hospitality deserves special mention in a city as big as Minga/München.

It has the cosy feel of a traditional Bavarian house yet it is really close to Donnersbergerbrücke, a main line S Bahn station to get to Marienplatz, Central station and even the airport direct.

Optional breakfast is a continental buffet with eggs and bacon made to order. Very tasty it was too!

If we come back to Munich we'd stay again! Danke schön!

Good location, about 3 minute walk to the nearest railway station which has direct link to the airport and is also just 2 stops from Munich main rail station. Hotel is a bit dated but is clean, tidy and the staff are great. Breakfast was very good value with plenty of choice on continental and they also cook eggs and bacon to order. Oktoberfest!

My husband and I traveled to Munich for Oktoberfest. We stayed at Hotel Hahn and could not have been more pleased. You have very easy access to the trains which are so easy to use, but we chose to walk everywhere and the location was ideal. The staff was very friendly, the rooms are big enough and comfortable enough, and having the option of breakfast at the hotel was awesome. We would recommend Hotel Hahn to anyone traveling to Munich. Prost!

We stayed for Oktoberfest so paid premium rates. This place was old but clean , rooms pretty small even for Europe but functional. I felt like additional $12 for breakfast or coffee on top of the rate we paid was excessive and so passed. Lots of other hotels we did had breakfast included. Seems like this perk is needed since otherwise the hotel is pretty basic. About a mile walk from the fest but you need to take trains or transit to get anywhere else really. Rooms clean though

Old Hotel in need of renovation

I’m not normally staying in this hotel but many other hotels around were completely booked, this was a super expensive hotel for what is offered. The hotel is in need of desperate love and attention as the rooms are very very outdated. The staff at the reception was the highlight as they were very friendly. I really felt like I was staying with my great grandma... the deco was a bit like this. My room faced that back of the hotel, was expecting a quieter experience but the room has no air conditioning and I’ve had to leave the window open... seems around midnight when the restaurants and bars around close, they think it’s the perfect time to throw all the bottle into the garbage... at 6 am the sun comes through the very light curtains and wakes you up, didn’t find any shutters or heavy blinds to block this light so for me it was a very short sleep. Lastly, when trying to get to work in the morning, I have had to wait 45 mins for a taxi, there is quiet the traffic jam, in the morning and street outside is blocked from 7-9ish with heavy traffic making it not possible to leave. If I hadn’t had to take 2 suitcases for sure I would have cancelled the taxi, and walked the 500meter or so to the train station.

Over all I would have paid around 1/2 the price and the review may have been a little different as that’s around what this hotel is worth, but after this stay, I really felt ripped off by the cost vs the quality of the hotel.

A Bavarian Hideaway on a Busy Commercial Street

While the frontage feels less than inviting, given the unattractiveness of Landbergerstrasse, once you step inside you are immediately transported to a warm, uber-Bavarian (but just on the safe side of cheesy) environment. Between the rooster motif, the charming woodwork, and the perpetual smiles on the faces of the staff, my wife and I never felt less than welcome at Hahn Hotel. We were told to request rooms on the third or fourth floor on the side street and we did, and I think I'd recommend the same... I imagine street level on the front of the building might be a little louder than some would prefer. We felt very removed from the city just three floors up. Despite not being in the heart of things, as Munich is a very small city, we found it rather easy to master the tram/metro system and were able to get back home via the 19 tram even relatively late. And when it's time to take the S-Bahn to the airport, that too is very simple, and the hotel concierge will even recommend whether the 1 or the 8 is having better service that day. Breakfast was lovely: we wrote ahead and were even provided turkey ham, which was so thoughtful, although the farm-fresh scrambled eggs with herbs were the highlight of every breakfast for us. We might try to stay someplace more central during our next stay, but should that be cost-prohibitive, we would DEFINITELY stay again at the Hotel Hahn.

We needed 1 night in Munich in order to catch an early train out the next morning and there was not much inventory to choose from at a reasonable price. This is not a glamorous property but met our needs. The rooms were small and bathrooms smaller. But it was clean and on a tram line. The staff was very helpful.

The room was very large and clean and ample car parking even with a late arrival. However the staff was the main reason we would go back. They were friendly, welcoming and willing to help provide directions and recommendations. We only know a few German phrases but the staff were fluent in English and again were extremely helpful.

Cute & Bavarian - but not handy for city centre

Myself & my boyfriend stayed here for 2 nights recently. The hotel is so quaint and lovely and very Bavarian (although at 6'3 he was too tall for the bed). Rooms are very vintage, but authentic. The service was friendly and there's free car park at the rear of the hotel (limit spaces and is a real squeeze to get in and out of, but free nonetheless).

Only issue is it's rather far out of the city centre - 45 mins walk, or 11 euros in a taxi. The closest train station is Munich central, but that's still a 20/25 min walk away which would feel a lot longer dragging suitcases.

There is an excellent beerkeller nearby - Augustinerbrau. Less touristy than the large Hofbrauhouse and really friendly staff & locals!

Great bargain but the tram line is being rebuilt

Great value in Munich. Clean rooms and facilities and great staff. If you are driving, parking is either on the street or in their spots on the side of the hotel. They give you a parking pass which you place on the dashboard and allows you to park on the street near the hotel without cost.
However, public transportation is a problem because the tram in front of the hotel is undergoing major rework and will not run again for months. The nearest subway or \"S Bahn station is out in the middle of the bridge that spans all the tracks heading to the Huptbanhof. It is not a pretty walk and tough to do if it raining. We

Adorable hotel

This is a traditional German hotel, which is both good and bad, depending on your expectations. You won't find miniature bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. in the bathrooms, big fluffy towels, robes, and slippers, huge feather pillows, air conditioning... leave these expectations in the states. What you will find is a quaint hotel with traditional décor, clean rooms, and super friendly staff. Free parking (amazing!) and free WiFi, breakfast available for 10 euro, and a small bar with a tap of Augustiner beer always at the ready. Everything you need, nothing you don't. I would definitely stay here again. *Not handicap accessible

Nice hotel, basic but functional

Nice hotel close to tram stops and S-bahn (suburban train) routes, so very easy to get around and the reception sell tickets. Hotel was a little dated in terms of decor and lots of creaky floorboards, but it was extremely clean and well kept and bathroom was modern. Staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English and were very helpful regarding travelling around the city, and reception in open 24/7. One issue was that I could only get WiFi in one place in the hotel (the bar) but plenty of places in Munich have free WiFi so it's not a huge issue. Overall a very nice hotel, fairly basic but a good base for exploring the city.

Good value and close to town

Nice small hotel, located only a 10mins tram ride from the heart of Munich (tram 19/20). Trams come every 5-10mins. Decorated with charming old furniture and lots of pictures/statues of Roosters (it's in the name: Hahn).

Nice little bar and adequate breakfast options in the restaurant. Very friendly young staff.
When you check in, ask for a room with good wifi connection, if you are in one of the further rooms with weaker signal, you may find it easier to sit in the brightly lit bar to work on your laptop.
We managed to park in the hotel car park. Limited space so may be tricky if checking in during high season. We had no problem with car park space as this time of the year.

Terrible night at an old hotel

Do NOT stay here! This is an old hotel with poorly-insulated rooms, squeaky floors and old, dated furniture: wooden bed, desk and chair. After checking in late at night, I had slept in the cold room for a few hours when, much to my surprise, another guest entered my room using his key. NOTE: I had locked the door before retiring.
I had paid Cdn$91 plus tax, after a deep discount from the list price of over Cdn$500/night. It makes me wonder how can this hotel dare to set such a high list price, then try to attract potential guests with a so-called deep discount price? I would never go back to this hotel. Neither should you.

Good Location

Glad I took some time locating this hotel it was well worth it. Regular direct tram connection every 5-10 minutes and only three stops from Hauptbahnhoff. (Central Station) 10-15 mins walk to the Tollwood site and 10 mins walk (two tram stops) to the Augustiner Keller which has a great atmosphere and good well priced food and beer all served quickly. The hotel was clean and the public areas in traditional style but bright and appealing. Our room and beds very comfortable suited our requirements perfectly. The only negative is the traffic noise when the window is open to allow fresh air into the room. Would rate this hotel 9 out of 10. and would certainly reccomend. The Christmas markets in Munich were lovely but a day trip to Nurenberg was definately worth a day trip too.

Very Nice Hotel

The hotel room was small but very comfortable. Street noise was easily eliminated by closing the window. It requires public transportation or taxi from the Hauptbahnhof (central train station), but the neighborhood was decent. Public transportation in Munich is easy and reasonable and I recommend using it to get to sites such as the fussgangenplatz (pedestrian only shopping and tourist area), and Lindenhof Schloss.

Hotel is on a main road with direct tram line to the city, I got a room at the rear of the building on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet no problems sleeping. Single room was larger than most I have stayed at in Germany, bed was a bit low down but comfortable, good shower. I did not try the food so cannot comment on it.

If you are looking for a hotel as a base for a short visit to the city at a reasonable price this is a good pick. Whilst the amenities are limited to a bar it was clean and the staff were friendly and happy to help. Breakfast was good value with both cold and cooked to order selections. The only thing to be aware of for light sleepers is that it is on a main road and can be noisy with the windows open.

Pleasant, rooster-themed, B&B-style hotel, close to main train station (Hauptbahnhof) and old city center by tram (block away) or S-bahn (5 min walk). Delicious and generous German breakfast (coffee, juice, bread, jam, cold cuts, cheese, fruit, eggs) in pleasant dining room - well worth additional charge. Front bar has Augustiner on tap and other wine/liquor. Very nice, English-speaking staff. Was able to buy postcard postage from front desk and have them place in mail. We were able to have full bathroom in our room. 24-hour front desk. Prompt responses to pre-visit e-mails. Hotel was able to let us in our room before check-in time.

The Hahn hotel is just outside the city centre but right on a street car line. The staff are English speaking and very accommodating. Breakfast is not free but parking is. Oktoberfest Hotel- close enough & far away enough

We stayed at the Hahn Hotel during the first week of Oktoberfest 2013. It's a quaint hotel with knotty pine accents. The hotel offers limited on site parking which was a treat as Germany is not parking friendly. The hotel is on a rather busy street but we couldn't hear any street noise from our room. We were located about 3/4 of a mile form the Oktoberfest grounds. We choose to walk each day instead of take the local transportation. The hotel was bit dated and the rooms are rather small. You won't spend much time there, so it was fine. The bed was comfortable. The server in the restaurant had minimal English speaking skills and communicating my egg order took a second person to translate. Eggs in Eastern Europe are served two ways: scrambled \"wet\" or fried hard on the bottom and runny on top. They were served that way everywhere we went. I ordered my eggs scrambled with herb and I was trying to communicate that I wanted them scrambled \"dry\". They turned out fine. The little bar in the hotel is a nice spot to hang out for a beer or a coffee.

Good value for the price

We stayed here during Oktoberfest. It was a short walk to the train station which took us anywhere we needed to be. Staff was friendly, and all of them spoke english. This was one of the more affordable hotels in Munich, and the beds/pillows weren't as comfortable as a 5 star hotel, but you get what you pay for. All in all I would absolutely stay here again during Oktoberfest... If I came at a different time of year, I would probably stay closer to downtown.

Hahn Hotel was in a good spot close to trains and trams to get to different places in Munich. You can get tickets at front desk. Rooms were clean with nice showers! Good for a short city break

This hotel was of good condition and was very good for a short city break. It was within 20-25 minutes walking distance. The staff were excellent and the breakfasts were very good. Ask for a room at the side as it will be quieter and there will be less traffic noise. The hotel has a small car park which is free.

Wonderful small hotel in Munich

The Hahn Hotel is full of olde worlde charm. Well located, not too far from the station, trams to all attractions. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely room. Rooms are not large, but large enough. some signs of age, but that adds to the overall charm. Eateries not far away. great breakfast. I loved this small hotel.

Delightful European pension.

A well-run, well-maintained pension, not grand by American standards, but charming, immaculate, comfortable and beautifully run. Easy walking distance from Donnersbergerbrücke train station, two stops from Central Station (Hauptbahnhof). Safe neighborhood.

Good value hotel for a short break

Close to the S bahn for those coming by train from the airport. Would not suggest it is walkable to the centre (especially in the hot weather we had) but it is a short tram ride from the stop close to the hotel. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful, the bar looks as if it has recently been refurbished. The twin rooms are good for those sharing as the beds are well spaced unlike many twins where they almost touch. Breakfast was 9 euros and includes a cooked element as well as the normal 'continental' elements.

The only draw back was that it is situated on a main road and can be noisy with the windows open.

We (a group of 4) would certainly use it again.

GOOD FAMILY HOTEL NEAR PUBLIC TRANSPORT.

EVERYTHING WAS GREAT FOR US. BUT, AS USA PEOPLE, WE ARE USED TO A/C AND ARRIVED DURING 90F DAYS AND 70F NIGHTS. SO A BIT HOT FOR US WITH NO A/C. WE ALSO HAD TO GET USED TO BEING ON A MAJOR TRAFFIC STREET WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN. BUT, THE OWNERS ARE VERY ATTENTIVE AND HELPFUL AND IT WAS A GOOD OVERALL EXPERIENCE FOR US.

Great place, nice people!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Munich and our 7-night stay at Hotel Hahn. I am a 50-something and my daughter, who was celebrating her graduation with this trip, is 21. We weren't looking for expensive luxury right downtown, but an economical, authentically German, family-run hotel experience a short train ride from everything. We completely found what we were looking for in Hotel Hahn. Hotel was very clean, owners were very helpful in everything from directions and translations to locating a charger for my phone! We were sad to leave as we sat in their pub the last night enjoying beer and peanuts with other patrons. Our room was small and breakfast is somewhat expensive, but very good. We would definitely return.

The Hahn Hotel

This is a nice family run hotel, so the staff is especially nice and considerate to your needs. There are not many thrills and parking is not the best. Although, there is parking listed on the website, the street parking is crowded and there is limited parking in the back of the hotel. There are no extra frills here unless you are willing to pay for it. That is something else about traveling in this area, you pay for everything, ketchup, parking, internet and service.

The rooms were very small. The shower was difficult to move around in. It states free parking, but spots were very limited. They did give me a permit to park on the street, which was nice, but it took over 20 minutes to find a parking spot.

Good value in Munich

Stayed for 2 nights in early May, 2013 while on a stop through Munich. There was a large meeting in Munich at the time and most hotels doubled their prices; the Hahn was reasonable by comparison. Great location downtown with easy access to trams and train station. Hotel rooms small, but clean and functional. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast room and bar/coffee shop. Try to stay in a room at the back of the hotel off the main street if possible. Would stay here again during a future visit to Munich. This is a small, family run hotel with lots of charm.

The staff are welcoming and helpful, even at very late arrival. Parking and Internet included, very good! The room overlooking the backyard are quiet. Its an old family hotel, and reasonable priced.

Cute, small, old-fashioned B&B

The room, and hotel staff, are decorated/dressed in traditional Bavarian style. The room was tiny but clean. Good, safe neighborhood, super easy to get on the highway to the Munich airport. Only downside is the elevators only go up part way and you half to carry your bags up a half flight of stairs and they're very creaky. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Some very limited parking available in their private lot; luckily I was able to get a spot.

Good location for public transportation

Good location in terms of proximity to the S-Bahn and only 3 stops from Marienplatz. The tram stop is within a block. It was great for our needs. It is a busy area with lots of traffic so you may notice some street noise. Price is great
