Lovely location despite the rain . Staff lovely and room very clean with nice views . Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom .Difficult to control the heating in the bedroom however .Nice bar area and great breakfast . Had dinner in the restaurant . This is such a stunning property! Even though you’re a quick drive from Heathrow, you feel a world away. The birds chirping, the river flowing, the beauty around the property and Bray is all incredible. I went for many long walks as a solo female traveler, including after dark once on accident, and felt incredibly safe. Can’t wait to come back!

We recently stayed at Sundial Cottage at Monkey Island Estate, and it was absolutely fantastic. The cottage itself is a beautiful three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath retreat with a spacious garden — truly perfect for a peaceful getaway.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the staff were incredible. Their warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness reminded us of how hotels used to be 25 years ago. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and every interaction was pleasant, making our stay feel truly special.
A delightful bonus was discovering that the cottage was originally owned by Sylvia Anderson, co-creator of Thunderbirds. That show was a favourite of mine as a child, so staying there added an unexpected and wonderful bit of nostalgia.
The hotel’s restaurant and bar were lovely, offering a relaxing atmosphere and great service, and the surrounding grounds were beautiful — ideal for unwinding or exploring.
We stayed for six nights while visiting family and had a wonderful time from start to finish. We will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel. Shame about the noise of the motorway next to it. For the price you would expect it to be quiter. Noise ok if you had a party there. Lovely location for a wedding.

Lovely hotel in a unique, peaceful location. Well placed for visits to one of the restaurants in Bray, although still a little far to walk. The rooms in the hotel are nice, but very small. The showers really good and the soft drinks in the mini bar are free which was a nice touch.

I booked the room that was available on Expedia, a Barn room, but upon arrival was ‘upgraded’ to the main accommodation block.
It’s worth remembering that the Barn is on the main car park, so worth consideration as to whether a booking suits your needs.
Main block accommodation, for those who can’t nab, or afford the Wedgwood suite, is tight for space, my room measuring a cosy 12m3 while housing a desk, bed and shower room; even solo, I felt cramped.
I didn’t eat at the onsite restaurant or drink at the Monkey Bar, but the building housing them looked pleasant and the island itself, even in a wintry setting, is a draw card.
Parking is easy and the smooth trundle for wheelie bags is about 200m to your room; that was even an easy hike for my rucksack!
Overall, lovely setting, small rooms and really fast to the airport…and probably enough character to keep you out of Heathrow’s Hotel Row.

We went for a drink in the bar late afternoon on a Sat. The staff were fantastic but as it was very quiet and no atmosphere we ended up going to a local pub instead which was great.

Fabulous!!!! Beautiful setting, very picturesque. We went for a temple room, it was on the ground floor with views of the garden. Extremely comfortable bed, spotlessly clean. Staff were really delightful and helpful. Our only gripe is the breakfast…. £40 plus 12.5 service charge is extortionate

The hotel room was clean abit on the small side. We were lucky to get an upgrade which I am thankful for. The only two issues were the food at the bar was not great also you have to pay additional tax which I have never seen at any other hotel I have stayed at. The hotel also had an incentive that they offer £20 towards food and drink which was not honoured which left a sour taste when leaving the hotel. Unfortunately it’s not the £20 that is an issue it’s the principle of it.

A short 1 night trip away the beautiful grounds of this hotel took our breathe away, we really felt we were in the middle of the countryside and the lovely river flowing around only added to this. Our room in the main section was a little small BUT modern, all recently refurbed with underfloor bathroom heating and a lovely comfortable bed and absolutely perfect for our short trip - any more than 3 nights and you'd probably run out of space. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, exceeded my expectations - would definitely visit again when in the area.

Superb overnight stay. We were upgraded from the barns to the main island. First room had a very squeaky bed so we were moved without question. Room was small but beautifully appointed. Comfortable bed with luxurious bedding. Delicious mini buns welcoming us in the room. Well stocked complimentary fridge.
Grounds are spectacular even in winter - lots of seating areas which must be wonderful in summer. Hope to return!

I have to say the restaurant was very pricy for what you get- and at that price I personally think you shouldn’t have to pay for bread and a bottle of water- but that’s just my two-cents. Otherwise, awesome stay!

Stunning setting as you enter across a bridge, then faced with beautiful white buildings, canal boat spa, greenery with squirrels and ducks everywhere. Very peaceful. We celebrated a 60th Birthday with a Lady's weekend in the Sundial Cottage - we were able to spend the whole weekend together without having to separate until we were ready to retire - we all had our own rooms ensuite. The common areas were comfortable and the private garden was lovely. The massages were wonderful. I look forward to returning. Thank you!

It felt like we were mis-sold a tiny and overpriced room in the converted barn, thinking we were getting a country estate experience in the common areas. There is just one small and stuffy lounge in the main building, and the lady sitting outside it was grumpy and surprised we even asked about common areas. Such a massive disappointment.
Also, the rubbish bin had not been emptied after the previous guests, including a dirty cotton stick on the carpet.

Such a beautiful hidden gem! So glad we booked this for an impromptu weekend away. It’s tucked away in Bray village so it’s very quaint. Beds really comfortable. We also received a complimentary upgrade on the day which was a sweet surprise. Rooms were on the smaller side but honestly not even an issue if it’s just for a night or two. Staff very friendly. Grounds were so peaceful to explore. Wonderful in the sunny weather!

1- No EV charging available, which in this day and age is a bit of a no-no.
2- Rooms are on the small side, admittedly you will only be sleeping there, but still !
3- Terrace rooms with river view, you hardly get to see the river because of overgrown bushes.
4- The Lounge with complimentary water, Tea & Coffee is a welcome surprise.
5- Did see a few cobwebs, on the bridge and also on some of the lamps etc. I am sure this can be kept clean.

Wonderful 40th Surprise!!!
This was booked for my wife's 40th as as I wanted somewhere with a wow factor and Monkey Island delivered. We were very fortunate with the weather, enjoying the beautiful grounds in the sunshine with boats gently drifting past. When we crossed the bridge to the island the feeling of calm and relaxation washed over us.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful, on speaking to the manager found them all to be a pretty new team. This didn't come across in the service we received (other than one small case of uncertainty) they were all busy looking after guests. There was a kitchen garden, smokehouse and bee hives which weren't in use down to the staffing at the moment so look forward to returning again and seeing this in full swing. given the impact Covid has had on the industry I am glad that this wonderful place is being looked after so well while they build a team that will continue to raise the standards and bring back all aspects of this historic and beautiful place.

For how much they charge the rooms were small and tired looking. The grounds were covered in geese poo making it hard to walk around. Lovely setting, but a refurbishment of the hotel is badly required if they want to charge the premium price point.

We liked the beautiful grounds, and the Egyptian geese that live there - but don't step in their poo, which is everywhere! The shower was one of the best I have ever tried. But the accommodation block is 150m from the Food & Beverage area, which could be a problem if there's inclement weather. VERY VERY small rooms - only 18\" of room around the bed before you hit the wall! And expensive for what the property is, both on the room rate, and the £33.75 per person full English breakfast!
