Nice location and property. But I specifically booked a room with air conditioning on Expedia. It was spelled out on the room type. I arrived in 35+ C temp and voila no AC - not poorly functioning. Nonexistent. Got no sleep. Windows could only open 3 inches due to installed stops. Staff blamed Expedia. It was extra pleasant lugging bags up narrow stairs in the heat also.

From the photos of the rooms I had seen, I was prepared for a rather boring, average room, so I was very pleasantly surprised when the room turned out to be very stylish and charming. The fabrics were of lovely and of good quality and there were antiques as well as modern touches. The bathroom was spacious and had really nice granite and large porcelain tile. There was a jacuzzi tub which we enjoyed a soak in. We had dinner in the restaurant. It has a fairly simple looking menu, but the mushroom risotto we had was really quite good. Our cocktails were a bit pricey for what they were, I would expect more of a craft cocktail at the price, but they were fine. Our room on the second floor required navigating several twists and sets of stairs of stairs to get to with no lift, but our bags were carried up and down for us so no problem there. The location by the river was quite convenient and away from the crowds and tourist bustle in front of the castle.

Great staff allowed us to check in early. Everyone was kind and polite. Breakfast excellent and staff very attentive and lots of fresh food choices. Beautiful view of Thames River and Bridge. Location is excellent with two minute walk to Castle. If flying in to Heathrow I recommend starting your trip here if you plan to visit Windsor Castle. Great small village feel close by and easy walking. Thanks for a great stay!

The location was perfect for Windsor and Eton! Right along the river and walking distance to everything! The staff was warm, friendly and very attentive. The room was very large for a British hotel and incredibly comfortable. We were very grateful for the air conditioning too! The breakfast was very appreciated, and the restaurant is very bright and clean with views of the river. We were there for a reunion and the restaurant/bar space was perfect for chatting and catching up.

From the moment my friend and I stepped out of the cab till the moment we left I was treated with absolute kindness, and genuine professionalism. The service was amazing, the general manager; Rochelle, was personal, friendly and extremely helpful acquiring taxi for all our adventures. She even helped me get to the garden shop and yarn barn miles away. The room was updated and immaculate, the bathroom was spacious and warm, and the breakfast was tasty. I loved the restaurant for our evening meal as it offered a large variety of yummy foods. Im an older woman with a challenging back and the staff hustled our luggage up the maze of stairs with the speed of an Olympian. 5 stars all the way and I will absolutely be back at the Sir Christopher Wren.

Wouldn’t let us check in on time even though we had called twice and sent two messages. Claimed we were a “no show.” So gave our room away. Instead of being allowed to check in right away had to wait for them to prepare our room. Still no refund with the first night even though the whole purpose was to be able to check right in and n out wait till later. The excuse “we don’t get Expedia, messages was rather stupid. Had no problem taking expedias money.

Booked online. Information indicated rooms in the main property. When we arrived, we were actually in a hotel across the street called Windsor House operated by Christopher Wren. I addressed with desk staff and the only explanation was that it was a Christopher Wren operated property-one of several buildings in the area. No explanation as to why that was not disclosed in the advertisement or the booking. Should have been a much lesser price. Room overlooked an alley or something similar. Besides the walk across for breakfast and check-in and out, parking was offsite - equivalent to a couple of block walk. Overall, I would not stay again

We enjoyed our stay at the Sir Christopher Wren. The only improvement we can recommend is to upgrade the beds. Our bed was on the hard side any not very comfortable. We do want to recognize the front desk representative for going above and beyond helping us make arrangements for transportation to the Eurostar train station in St. Pancras. She was extremely helpful! I can't remember her name but she has a background from Pakistan and should be commended for her help!

I didn’t live the annex building where I felt like my room was in a basement. It had a window but I couldn’t open the blinds since it was street level and people would be able to look into my room from the alley. I also asked for a late checkout out which they charged me 20GBP. Since I had a late check in and was only there for 16 hours, you’d think they would have approved it without charging me. The breakfast and location were good though.

The hotel is situated in an excellent location, adjacent Windsor castle sitting on the banks of the Thames. The staff were professional and friendly. The room was ample size and clean. Food was excellent, we enjoyed breakfast and an evening meal. Prices were reasonable given the location. We would recommend and may well make a return visit.

We had a great experience at this Hotel.
We especially appreciated Mohamad, he helped us with our bags on arrival and again on our departure.
We were in Rm 25, and at our age (76 & 84)it was a challenge getting up and down the stairs and would have been impossible with our bags. He was so pleasant through out.
The breakfast provided was wonderful & all service excellent! The Ladies at the front desk also were very helpful and pleasant!

For almost £250 a night, the value of the room (Grand double room which was the most expensive room in the hotel) was absimal. All the necessary amenities were absent from the bathroom - no cotton pads, no cotton buds, no shower cap, no soap bar. Hair dryer was spoilt, I was using it half way to blow dry my hair and sparks came out of the device, and there was no hot air, so I had to dry my hair on the cold setting. Only 1 bottle of Water (for 2 people!) per room on check in. After that it's £3.50 per bottle. The fridge in the Grand double room wasn't working either, to the extent, our milk drink became lumpy because it wasn't cold. Breakfast was not great. Burnt sausages and terrible coffee from the machine. The only reason we stayed at this hotel was because of the proximity to our seminar at Windsor leisure center, otherwise, we would have stayed somewhere else. For the price we paid, many things could have been better.

I’ve stayed at this hotel a few times. The location in Windsor is excellent. Everything is within walking distance. The other times I’ve stayed there, I was in the newer annex building. Those rooms are modern and quiet. This time I stayed in the older main building. The view was lovely, but the room had some quirky things about it. Firstly, the floor boards creaked a lot. When my neighbours walked around, I could hear their floor boards too. They seemed to be awake a lot during the night, waking me up. I could also hear them talking. The room didn’t have a small refrigerator, which I missed. I tried sleeping with the windows open but the noise from outside was disruptive. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and functional but a small stand would have been a good addition to put toiletries on. The breakfast is excellent. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. I will stay there again, but not in the main building.

We had a great time here. The staff was great, eating breakfast by the river was amazing! For travelers, the parking is easy if you arrange it ahead of time. The lot at the train station is a short walk. Arrange it ahead of time with the hotel. They have their own area in there for you to park.

This hotel is close to places to eat and very close to Windsor Castle!

Breakfast was great and included. This is not a suitable property for those with disabilities. I was put on the third floor with no lift. Despite contacting the property and receiving what I thought was assurance of on site disabled parking, I was sent to a car park a fifteen minute walk away.

Positive parts of the stay were friendly staff, great breakfast and location. Negative were room - executive king, in space only. This room was worn and dreary looking, in need of updating and modernisation. I was woken very early to the sound of glass recycling bin being emptied, and you can hear creaking sounds as people walk around in other rooms.

We had a lovely stay and the team were all very friendly. The room was spacious and very clean, with a great shower, but the outlook was not great, and I feel that the view should be described at the booking or room description stage. The Brasserie evening meal was superb and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our breakfast was also in the Brasserie and we were lucky enough to have a table with a river view. The breakfast was pretty good, however the cooked breakfast was luke warm, the fruit selection was lacking and the apple juice was very watery.

Check in was ok, parking in the small Hotel car park was a good idea. Public car parks are expensive. We had an accessible room, which is in an annexe across the road (Pedestrianised), with small cobbled areas. The room was large and well appointed with a good wet room and plenty of grab rails. There was no real view. We did notice some damage on the wardrobe.The bed seemed fine until turning it back and seeing the bottom sheet untucked. A call to reception and a maid came to fix it. We went out and came back to find no duvet or top sheet due to a communication error. Another call to reception and it was fixed. Ate in the Brasserie which was very nice. Not a bad sleep, the room was quiet. But the bed was not completely comfortable. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice, but it probably pays to go early if you want a window seat EG before 8.30 am.

Clean room, excellent breakfast bar and all-day menu, lovely view from the brasserie on to the Thames. Also, very convenient to train, Castle, restaurants and shops.
Disappointed to have a room with a poor window view on to a narrow passage way. A couple of other minor irritations could be resolved through calls to reception/maintenance staff.
I’d stay there again, but would stipulate room preferences.

We enjoyed our stay. It is an older hotel. Lots of narrow stairs to traverse up and down as you make your way back to your room. The bed was large and comfortable. There was no airflow in the room except from opening the windows. We were able to check in three hours early but had to pay 50 pounds.

We were staying after going to rugby at twickenham, so didn’t check in till the evening. Not very warm and welcoming on arrival,
Room was clean however kettle had mould which we had to request to be swapped, water leaked through shower screen so floor was soaking wet, basin drain has partial blockage very slow to drain. Aircon controls requested key card in slot by door, no slot by door.
All of the above we likely would have probably not cared about previously excluding kettle but as the room is adjacent to a street and few doors down from a kebab shop which we didn’t know until moments before checking in that evening at 8/8.30pm. It was really noisy, cars parked outside playing really loud music so much that someone else shouted out to them to turn it down but using a few selective profanities! Loud customers walking right outside the front of the room. Even with closed windows it was really loud. Just had awful nights sleep as a result. Would advise that anyone staying requests a room not at the front of the building
Good selection at breakfast though.

The only downside to the hotel is the lack of parking. Whilst you can pre-book reserved parking at the railway station it's a 5 minute walk away, so not ideal with luggage, particularly if it's raining. However, that won't put me off staying again as everything else about it is wonderful! Our room, which was an executive king size, was lovely and big and the bed was very comfortable and much bigger than our king size bed!
The breakfast is self service and has a wide variety of pastries and cooked breakfast and even has a pancake maker, which I didn't try but I might next time!
We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was very nice, with a good choice.
The views of the river from the restaurant are lovely.
We stayed because we were going to Windsor races and you can't get any closer to the promenade to catch the boat to the races!
We also managed to get a last minute booking to go the Theatre Royal, which is a couple of minutes walk away.
The hotel really is in a perfect position!
All I would say is that if you struggle with stairs, make sure that you ask for a room on the level, or in their courtyard building rather than the main building. The main building doesn't have lifts (it's listed) and the stairs are windy. I will do that next time we go because my knees will thank me!
We have stayed at two other hotels in Windsor, but I think that we will be staying here from now on. I don't think that it can be beaten for comfort, food and it's position.

This hotel is well-located, just around the corner from Windsor Castle, one block from a major train station and just a few blocks from the second major train station. Rooms are spread out over several buildings on the same quiet dead-end street (the end of the street is the Eton bridge). My room was tiny but cute and comfy. The staff was fine but not super warm and friendly. Breakfast was fine, not great. The hotel while I was there was full of businessmen there for several conferences, so the restaurant was always pretty loud and rowdy.

When I book a hotel, I hope to stay in the hotel, not be plonked into an outbuilding across the street and definitely not in one that was freezing cold and opens directly onto the outside. It's a bit mad to have to put your coat on to go to breakfast. Imagine if I wanted to go to the spa!

When I mentioned how cold the room was, I was told 'oh, don't worry, it will heat up in 30 mins, the aircon is tempermental so don't ask too much from it too soon!'. Erm, thanks for that! After asking, someone kindly bought a radiator.

Three more quick things.

1) Aircon was then (really) noisy all night long! Lots of gurgling and throttled noises.

2) Breakfast location was fabulous, overlooking the river. Breakfast content was pretty poor: packet cereal, typhoo tea and powdered scrambled eggs etc. Didn't quite match the grand location.

3) No heating in bathroom really. As my room was basically over an entrance of a stables or garage, floor was stone cold.
