The hotel is simple but overall good. The problem was that in the middle of the day I was called because apparently there was a leak from my room to the floor downstairs. When I arrived back at the hotel hours after they still haven't resolved the issue and claimed to not have other rooms, so I had to go look for another hotel after a long day of meetings. I asked for them to at least get me somewhere to take a shower and they claimed not to have any options for me.

Warm nights near train station

Hotel was in great location. Near train station. Didnt realize no AC and it was very warm. They did supply a fan and its fine if only one person in room. Windows had to stay open but bus stop and bar downstairs made early night too noisy. Checkin only till 5pm so had to be done electronically via a machine. Difficult for a less techy visitor. Still a good stay. Nice rooms.

I loved the view from the bedroom and overall the room was comfortable. The bathroom was tight and a bit small but we made it work. My main issue is with the reception. The guy at the welcome desk was extremely unwelcoming and unkind. I asked about parking when I overheard him tell another guest it was free. I asked where exactly we were allowed to park for free so I made sure I followed any rules. He looked at me like I was stupid, rolled his eyes and said my question made no sense. Then he said yes, you can park on the street by the hotel for free. So we did what he said we could and found a nice ticket the morning of our departure. Only because of him I will never stay at this location again. He was horrible at his job and very unprofessional.

Really enjoyed my stay, I'd emailed to say I'd be there before check in and they said I could possibly check in early or there was a luggage store. When I arrived my room wasn't available which was to be expected but then there seemed to be a problem as lots of phone calls and the word overbooking was used. Was all resolved (sorry if you were the booking that got moved). Room was lovely, just incredibly warm. Brilliant location, as close enough to the centre but not overwhelmingly so. Public transport is the dream in Vienna. Would absolutely stay here again

Loved the chandelier in my room! Great view of the Votive Church - which is beautiful at night. Floodlit.
Few too many stairs for this old lady - but there is a lift eventually.
Handy having access to a jug for a cuppa.

Disaster in Vienna

I had prepaid the first nite at $ 109 and was informed this was only the price for the first nite, the second and third nite would be $ 140 and $ 139 respectively. When you come, you have to carry your suitcase up 2 flites of stairs, then take an elevator up another flight to the reception and the carry your suitcase up another floor to your tiny, tiny room. The shower is great but the entry to the shower is so small that an slightly overweight person cannot access the shower.

The hotel was in a perfect location for a weekend exploring Vienna. Our flight was delayed and hotel staff were great at communicating with us regarding late check in.
The hotel was right by Votivkirche and the surrounding area had great restaurants and bars. It was also close to a big tram and train station/stop, although you could also walk into the very heart of the city within 15/20 mins.
The hotel was quiet and the room was good for the weekend. The staff were helpful when needed - they were there between 07.00-19.00 and could be contacted via Whatsapp out of hours.
The only issue we faced was that our shower was either really cold or scolding hot and could only get a decent temperature for about 60 seconds at a time.
Would highly recommend this hotel to people looking for weekend breaks in the city.

It’s a pension hotel, one flight of stairs leading up to the lift (around 12 stairs). Very convenient - tram stop about 30m which leads to metro, which is only about 3 mins walk anyway. Excellent room with a double bed and sofa bed.

The property had no air conditioning. I had Expedia call and ask if the property had AC and was told by an agent that they called the hotel and confirmed both rooms I reserved had AC. I got there and no AC.

The staff at check in indicated there is nobody there from 7pm to 9am. What kind of hotel is this? Gave me key to open the front door of the building down at street level.

Room was incredibly small. Could barely move in there. They say the property was updated and if it was, I'd hate to see it previously.

I didn't even stay at the hotel. Even though I prepaid, I went to a different hotel, costing me another 500$ unexpectedly.

DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL. I WOULD NOT EVEN BOOK A ROOM AND GIVE IT TO A HOMELESS GUY FOR A NIGHT IT IS SO BAD.

Great location and very clean rooms! Only a few minute walk from subway station, streetcar stop, cafes and restaurants, grocery store.
It’s an easy walk from Christmas market as well.
I arrived early but they made my room ready before the official check in time- I was able to rest before going out to explore the city. I’m very thankful they accommodated me.

Room was very nice and modern. Beds were comfy apart from the fact that the two twin beds used to make the double kept sliding apart. Everything was quiet and clean. Hotel was a bit confusing to find as it’s described as being on the first floor of the building but is actually on about the 4th floor. It was in a perfect spot for us, walking distance to the main sites. Would stay here again.

The hotel is in a good location. The tram stop is just down the street, but it’s easier to walk to the old town city center, even though it’s a bit of a walk. The hotel is located on part of an upper floor of an apartment building. You walk up about half a flight of stairs, then you can take the elevator up. You need a key to enter the hotel (if the front desk is closed, it is not open 24 hours). There are some rooms on this floor, and more rooms upstairs, where you’ll need to climb the beautiful staircase. My room was small, but efficient. Nice remodeled bathroom. Pretty decor in the bedroom.

As others have said, the great advantage of this hotel is its central location, within walking distance of the main city centre sites. We booked 4 rooms which were of varying sizes and facilities. They were basic but all were clean, had good bathrooms and comfortable beds. The breakfast room has no windows and is rather gloomy but looked like good value.

Great value for money

Stayed here for two nights (room only) and found everthing to be good for the price you pay. The hotel is within a few minutes walk of the city centre and 5 minutes from the metro, so is easy to get to from the airport. Good Wi-fi in the room too. Would definitely stay her again.

It's a great location to the hot spots, but the reception is closed at 7pm. Those who will do late check-in after 7pm is required to make special arrangement with the hotel in advance. The main door of the entrance building will be locked after 7pm, including the hotel main door too. Overall is Good.

The hotel was very nice. We were able to check in a little early and get settled. There is no air conditioning so the room did get rather warm. Fans were provided but didn't help much. The room was beautiful and very clean. The location was close to the metro and it was easy to get around the city. The staff was very helpful and let us keep our luggage there even after checkout so we didn't have to carry it around the city. We had a very pleasant experience.

Only problem that we had it was our arriving time was about 8-9 pm. In this time reception and hotel's door was closed. And if accidently visit of one of guests that help us to open the door and contact with reception. We didn't pay attention on the advice inform the reception earlier if your arrived time is after 8 pm!!!
Commonly the hotel is very good in all aspects !

Very good location. If you arrive after 7pm you have to call the reception to check you in. Despite my emailing them well in advance that I will be arriving late. My mobile was powered off, so had to ask a stranger for help. Another issue I wish to bring to notice is that on the booking websites they show no pictures of single room which could help a person to get an idea if the single room is suitable or not. So when I first saw the single room I was dissapointed. Apart from this, great staff service, Clean and comfortable.

Perfect location for Christmas markets.

Stayed for three nights, hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful - kettle, extra pillow - nothing was too much trouble.
The room was quite small but cosy and very comfortable. Bathroom very clean and lovely powerful, hot shower.
Within walking distance of all the Christmas markets but easy to get to the tram if you prefer.
The hotel reception is on the third floor of the building, the lift doesn't go right to the ground floor so not accessible for guests with walking difficulties.
Fantastic stay, would definitely return.

Images of rooms are not the same rooms

The images shown on expedia for the Standard Single Room are of a different room. The room is about half the size of the image and the bed is half as big as the photos show. The photos also show a bathtub and the description of the room says there is an option for a bathtub. I requested a bathtub it was the reason I selected this hotel. I also emailed the hotel a week before about the bathtub request. I never got a reply.

When i arriving at the hotel I and asked about the bathtub I was told that none of the Standard Single Rooms had bathtubs. After seeing my room and seeing that it was a different room and asked reception about this and was told expeida put up the same images for every room (not true different room had different images) it could be true that Expeida put the wrong image up and the wrong description of the room stating it had a bathtub. Reception didn't care about any of this or try to fix it, all they did was say everything was Expeida fault and were very unapologetic for everything.

After 45 minutes on the phone with expidea that gave me a voucher for saving on a future booking. So they made it right, but I would never say at this place again.

The best thing about this property is the staff. They were wonderful. They helped us get settled, helped up plan our sightseeing activities, and helped use get to the airport. In fact, the woman at the front desk personally helped us get a cab and waited with us outside the front door until we had a cab. Then she made sure that the cabbie agreed to a reasonable price. The physical property is not a 4-star level but it is comfortable and clean, and the room was quite large. The location is very convenient, and the price represents real value.

Six nights at a University of Vienna conference, very convenient to all city attractions and transportation hub. Ask for a room overlooking the city, not on the air-shaft. Only quibble: must climb 5-6 stairs to get to the elevator to hotel and no elevator between 1st and second floors. Otherwise an excellent well-priced choice.

Small room but worth it!

When first arriving, I was surprised at how small the room was! But then I realised I was in Vienna to see Vienna, not spend it in a hotel room. I was impressed with how clean the room was. The bathroom was small, but served its function. AC would have been nice, but the fan provided was enough to keep me cool. Although I had a room on the main street, the windows blocked out all of the noise. Breakfast was the standard European fare of bread, meats, cheeses, some fruit cup style fruit and yogurt. Fresh fruit would have been nice, but otherwise it was good. It's also a short 5 minute walk from the metro station. This hotel was a pleasant surprise given the location to the city centre, cleanliness and cost. I would definitely stay here again.

Metro system so simple and cheap location of hotel is not a big issue in Vienna. However this hotel is located such that a good walker can get most places on foot. My room was 3 floors up with no lift. Could be an issue for some. Reception was empty early in morning and not so late in evening. You had a key to let yourself in building and into the hotel which occupied only part of the building. Blackout curtains covered only half of big windows in room which meant very bright early in morning and late afternoon. Room was large and bed very comfortable. Good bathrrom. TV had no English channels despite saying satellite channels. Traffic noise almost non existent with windows shut at this time of year. Not sure in summer with no a/c. Overall though content with stay but next time would explore other options at the price.

The stay was fantastic but the room didn't have a view and the bathroom curtain was just small enough that water got EVERYWHERE. Other than that, we were very pleased. Walking up to the hotel entrance was bulky with our luggage, but there is an elevator up one flight.

The room was big and comfortable.An entrance door had a slightly slamming issues due to an air flow from the corridor, but it didn't cause a major disturbance.
Hotel is located in a good place , not far from the center.It was really quite and warm .

We were greeted by a very friendly man who worked at the front desk. He was extremely nice, funny, and helpful. He provided wonderful recommendations about places to check out and restaurants to visit. The hotel was in fine shape and our room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The location was walking distance to the subway, which can take you around the entire city. The hotel is a bit further away from the historical buildings, but still very walkable (15-20 mins). My only complaint is that it was a bit difficult to find for the first time since the sign for the hotel was not terribly easy to see from the busy street. This was one of the best hotels we visited on our 2 week travel in Europe. I highly recommend!

Excellent all round: within a short walk of the historic core, a few minutes from a transport hub (metro, bus, tram), clean, well-appointed (deep firm mattress, crisp white linen, modern bathroom with efficient shower, clothes closet with a few hangers but many shelves, full-length mirror, desk and chair, television, small safe, reliable free wi-fi), friendly staff. A few restaurants in the immediate vicinity, many more amenities nearer and within the metro station (bakeries, fast food, convenience stores, cash points). Bear in mind: this is a European pension, not an American midwestern motel = the rooms are a decent size and very comfortable for the price and location.

Good to know: the nearest metro station is Schottentor on U-Bahn line U2; the exit marked 'Universität' (at the rear of the northbound train) leads to an exit at street level directly onto Währinger Straße, after which the pension is straight ahead, on the same side of the street as the metro exit. The inconspicuous street entrance is shared with various offices, (at time of writing) next to a cinema and a shop called Frog. There is a lift to the pension entrance on the first floor, but a few stairs between that and the street door. Also, this is Hotel Pension Baron am Schottentor, not to be confused with Pension Schottentor in Hörlgasse, very nearby.

Very helpful staff, good location

The hotel is within walking distance of all the central sights, and the Schottentor U-Bahn station is close. Very helpful staff, especially the receptionist who recommended the best nearby supermarket to stock up on certain food items not available in the country I was traveling to (he even helped with my bags). The wifi worked, which strangely was not the case in my two prior hotels in Vienna.

The hotel is located near cafes, restaurants and metro station. The hotel is newly renovated. The only thing that we didn't like was the fact that there is no A/C in the room (I think this is typical in Austria and other European countries). This is the nicest 3 star hotel we have ever been to in Europe. The staff are very accommodating. They gave us an extra fan when they found out we had a toddler with us. Although this happens often in Germany, the entrance is closed, if you arrive after 19:00. They offer a key in the locker, but you need to call them to get the number to open it. It would be nicer, when they leave a notice beforehand thru email.

Più che un hotel è un affittacamere.
Hanno preso camere in un bel palazzo antico ed elegante e l'hanno trasformate in camere di hotel.
La camera era molto grande incluso il bagno, ma un hotel non può avere la reception aperta con personale in presenza solo dalle 10 alle 19.
Il secondo e il terzo giorno hanno pulito la camera ma non hanno cambiato i teli nonostante il secondo giorno l'avevo richiesti.
Molto disponibile e gentile Maria la ragazza russa alla reception

Otel koum olarak güzel bir yerde ancak oldukça eski ve içerdeki merdivenler ve banyo kapısı gıcırtılı. Hafif uykusu olanlar içğn sorun olabilir

Zimmer klein, aber sauber, riecht allerdings fürchterlich nach Zigarettenrauch, obwohl das wohl ein Nichtraucher-Zimmer ist. Fenster direkt oberhalb einer sehr befahrenen Straße schlechte bis keine Isolierung der Fenster-> durchgehend lauter sehr störender Lärm.

The room category I booked on hotels.com does not exist (Standard individual), I just got a single bed instead of a double bed. The pictures were also wrong. I didnt get an invoice, even tho I asked for it a day before booking. The room didnt have air condition. Price/Value-ratio really bad.

Personnel trying to be helpful though, not their fault.

Super Lage in stilvollem Zimmer

Sehr gut gelegen: der Ring ist nur 100m entfernt - ebenso U-Bahn und Straßenbahn.
Alt(ehrwürdig) aber gepflegt.
Sehr freundlicher, kompetenter und motivierter Receptionist.
Ein Kühlschrank ist vorhanden.
Parken preiswert in der Liechtensteinstraße 4 (300m) für 10 Euro anstelle von der Votif-Tiefgarage (25 €, wenn man Vouchers im Hotel kauft).
Gewöhnungsnedürftig sind die Stufen rauf zum Bad/WC; ist halt dem Alter der Anlage geschuldet.

(+) Das Hotel ist relativ zentral gelegen, zu Fuss kommt man schnell zu verschiedenen schönen Orten, das Zimmer war für den Preis gross, unser Zimmer hatte ein Balkon mit Blick auf die Strasse, jedoch hat sehr wahrscheinlich kein anderes Zimmer einen solchen Balkon, kleine Take-Aways sehr nahe.
(-) Leider wird kein Frühstück angeboten, das Zimmer war nicht besonders sauber, der Fön war noch voller Haare, Staub und Spinnennetze waren vorhanden, die Dusche stank etwas, in der Nacht ist es oft laut wegen der Strassenbahn.

Einziger Nachteil: Aufzug erst im 1. Stock im Gebäude. Im Hotel kein Aufzug, aber die Mitarbeiter haben uns geholfen.

Zwei Etagen in einem alten Wiener Haus sind das Hotel. Die Einrichtung ist plüschig gediegen, aber gemütlich. Das Personal ist nett und zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer lag zur Hauptstrasse, daher bei geöffneten Fenstern etwas laut (Straßenbahn, Pub gegenüber). Wenn man nicht gerade Luxus erwartet, ist es eine absolute Empfehlung, da recht zentral gelegen.
