Overall, pretty good stay. Pretty close to things...walking distance was nice. The room was ok but the bathroom was not clean when I arrived, but they did it when I asked. I don't think any cleaning happened during my week long stay unless I asked, which was ok for me. As others have mentioned, the pillows are laughable. Bring your own! I'd recommend it for budget travel, though!

The hotel is rather tired, showing its age, but the bathroom and bedding are clean, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. No luxury, but good value for money. I had no problem finding a free parking space for my car (it was Sunday). It's a short walk to the center (15 minutes).

The key cards didn’t work after we left the room - every time. The staff admitted this was a regular problem. We had to pay to store our cases at the reception as we got there too early to check in (only €1 each - into the ‘tip’ jar - but it’s the principle). Our room was large but very tired, lots of scruffy furniture although only 3 hangers in the wardrobe (more were eventually provided). Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was good.

Wouldn’t let me check out late, my room had a really weird bed, only had one pillow and one single sized duvet for a double or might have even been king size bed, feel like it’s abit out of the way of the old quarter centre, walking to the palace or cathedral was 30/40 minutes and about 15 in a car.

Dated but everything was layout nicely in the room. The pillows, however were not comply at all. Located in a quiet area just out of the city center. 4 mins walk to the tram stop, 12 mins walk to the metro station. Recommend - great value for the money you pay.

Hotel Strudelhof firstly, great location, 20mins walking distance into the old city tourist area. Tube station and tram bus services closer. Quiet area with supermarkets, bars and restaurants to hand. Which was needed.
The hotel in my opinion is tired and run down. Rooms need an overhaul, air conditioning is not effective and was needed as temps reached over 30 c during our stay.
Yes the rooms were equipped with tea and coffee facilities, but not replenished each day.
The bathrooms were clean and fresh towels each morning.
Unfortunately the bar/bistro was closed down and has been for a while which was disappointing. It is now a bag storage area … there is a vending machine in foyer.
The roof top terrace is a small unwelcoming balcony area , as is the garden picnic area, a space near the breakfast room at back of hotel where smokers can go.
The breakfast buffet was fair, fresh fruits , breads and continental meats , cheeses and a hot selection.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful, Uve, Marina and Robert.
We booked transfer to and from the airport through the hotel…. Uber is cheaper!
We enjoyed our Vienna trip but hotel didn’t live upto our expectations.

Very odd and disappointing experience. We were initially told we'd been transferred to their sister hotel because the Strudlhof's was full, and that it was the same spec, but the room was half the size and run down.

We then returned to the main hotel, after a long faff transferring our luggage from the sister car park, and were put in a 5th floor suite room - which seemed generous until we realised the AC was broken (in hot weather). They couldn't fix and offered no compensation.

Reception staff were odd. One refused to tell us his name. Our request to extend our stay by a night at the same rate we'd booked was refused, we were told we'd have to rebook and move rooms. Then on the final day the supervisor picked a pointless argument about checkout times many hours after we'd already checked out.

I showed up and was told there was a \"small problem.\" The \"small problem is that there was no room for me, despite my reservation!! They sent me to another hotel & didn't even offer to get me a taxi or anything. I had to walk there, dragging all my luggage. I was late for a ticketed event as a result of this nonsense. Absolutely ridiculous. Guy at the front desk couldn't have been less helpful. Don't stay with these people!!

Hotel Strudlhof was a great find! First and foremost, it was CLEAN! In fact, it was spotless! My room was very large, far bigger than average, and it had an amazing amount of storage space. The beds were very comfortable, although the pillows were rather flat.

Breakfast was generous, varied and delicious. It was served in a lovely restaurant.

I was totally charmed by the beautiful neighborhood. It was very quiet but lively. Several restaurants and shops were within easy walking distance.

All in all, this hotel is a winner!

this property was wonderful to stay at. The rooms are excellent and comfortable. The breakfast's were by far the best on our whole trip. The staff were extremely helpful with our questions.
Our only small complaint was finding the property and parking the car. This was eventually completed.
Parking was expensive.
We would recommend and stay here again.

Hotel was nice and in a very good location. Excellent staff, our flight was delayed and checked in around 1am. Even though it was 1am the desk was manned and again excellent service from the staff.

Room was a good size, had a separate toilet and bathroom. As requested we had two separate single beds. Only negative was the rooms did not have air con, this would have been ok however the temperature outside was hot and each of our rooms had a vent which was pumping out hot air above the mini-bar/fridge. The temperature was bearable but not very comfortable.

Car parking was available, €20 per day/night which I deemed expensive (but was in central
Vienna). The car park was small, cars not always parking in the spaces hence very tight.

Property not bad. The reason for the lower rating was: room was so hot and not possible to let fresh air in. Coffee making facility in the room not good unless you like green tea or a sachet of black coffee! No milk or fruit/black tea in the room. Reception was absolutely no help nor did she try to get a milk sachet or alternative tea.

The location of this hotel is great! Easy to take the tram to downtown!

The staff is not kind and friendly but very cold in the approach; also they don't have a proper knowledge of the english language. Check out is at 11am and they are not flexible even if there is availability. All the other **** hotels have check out at 12 but always open to allow a late check out in case of availability. They are not open to help and assist you about this matter: they just allowed a check out at 12 and at 12.02 when I was going down they called me in the room.
The room was spacious but the hotel is very old, it has to be renovated! There was strong noise from outside since the window was damaged and not perfectly fitting with the wall.

This is a good property for people on a budget. Small, clean, excellent breakfast buffet, a little far from town though. You have to take a tram or the metro to go back and forth to most attractions. All in all a good stay.

The hotel exceeded all expectations. The photos on the website somehow do not do justice, so it was a very positive and unexpected surprise how modern, tip top condition it is with very spacious rooms and very helpful cortesous staff. Only very small comment is that the toilet brushes are overdue replacement. The metal part looks brand new, but the brush itself is in a very bad condition and soaked up in dirty water from the container. Something that is overlooked as not immediately visible in the otherwise perfect conditions and cleaniness. Really appreciated that upon request we received a kettle and a thermometer too. Thanks for the stay! Would use the hotel again if visiting Vienna

The room was fine but the bistro/bar was not really staffed. Throughout a 5 day visit, I had to go find someone to tend the bar. The only food choices were a cheese sandwich or a mini pizza.

Good hotel within walking distance of buses, underground and sites. No tea/coffee facilities in room but a kettle/cups were provided when we asked for them. The only issue we had with the room was the temperature. It was too hot and we couldn’t adjust the heating. Left the window open all the time.

Staff were friendly- however duvet and pillows where rubbish- did ask for duvet to be changed as stuffing was clumped together- nothing happened.

Hotel is onthe other side of the city centre from Central Station - very close to the Freud Museum and next door to the Lichtenstein Palace. Great hotel, wonderful friendly staff, and a roof terrace with a great view across the city. Easy access to public transport and 15 minutes from the Museum Quarter.
Great size rooms, very clean, perfect for a break.
Throroughly recommended - it was my first visit to Vienna, and when I return I'll go back to the hotel again.

Far too hot and no room keys!

We tried all we could to turn the heating down, even had the window open and still the radiator/ fridge was making the room unbearable to the point we were drinking over a litre each on a night and still waking up with dry mouth. Also the fact we had to go to reception every time we wanted to get into or room as they had no working room keys was an inconvenience!

Having lived in Vienna...

For three years, my husband and I went back to see friends and the Christmas markets with our little girl.

We know the area and the hotel was what we needed. The breakfast was good. Staff attentive and it was somewhere comfy to sleep.

Not easily accessible for strollers but if you don't mind an extra 5 mins walk you will be ok!

Would recommend.

The rooms here are comfortable and I had a good stay, however it was not perfect. The hotel restaurant only opens for breakfast and lunch (you have to reserve lunch in advance), and there was insufficient information in the rooms or the hotel foyer about good dinner options. Also the rooms do not have tea/coffee making facilities which is only a minor issue, sure, but you would expect a 4-star hotel to have kettles in the rooms.

The location of the hotel is quite convenient for the city centre - you can take the 40A bus or the D tram from just a few hundred metres from the hotel. The hotel is set back from any main roads, which means it is nice and quiet!

Overall I wasn't displeased with my stay, but nor was I wildly impressed - I think I could have found slightly better value for money elsewhere.

I did enjoy my stay a lot. The room was clean, tidy and spacious. The desk is much better than other places I have stayed. The bathroom was beautiful with a big tub and a wall-to-wall mirror. However, the pillows were substandard and did not inflate at all. It was impossible to use it for sitting against the wall (e.g. for reading and watching TV). The staff was really friendly and warm and made me feel welcome.

Great spot for a Layover

Had a 10 hour layover and this was a great location to see the city for a wonderful price! Lots of great restaurants and pubs in the area. Very clean and well taken care of rooms. Also, the staff was so friendly and adorable!

Thoroughly Recommended Hotel

We were staying in the hotel for a friend's wedding and had a lovely, peaceful stay. Great location in a quieter area, but plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Only 10 mins max on the tram from all the Central tourist sights on Vienna. The reception staff were friendly and extremely helpful. In short, would thoroughly recommend and will definitely stay here again should I return to Vienna (which I hope we will)

We were very pleased with our stay here - the room was large, bright and airy. The location is about 20mins walk from the centre but the trams are easy to use and take minutes. The breakfast was excellent - good choice and good quality. Would have no hesitation recommending.

Stay away from this hotel if you are on budget trip. Rooms are good and very clean. But the hotel is located bit far from the public transportation and this may create lot of problems if you are traveling with kids. Nothing is free in this hotel not even the water. A bottle of water in the room cost you 5 € even though the tap water in Vienna is safe to drink.Hotel must define properly what the mini bar is. Breakfast costs 16€, so I did not tried the breakfast.

Just \"DON'T\"

Neither Katharina or Nicol at the front desk had any knowledge of the area and Katharina was truly rude. When we requested a room on a higher floor to get some quiet, she flat-out lied that the hotel was full. The pillows contained no more than a dozen feathers so you had to fold them up like you were making puff pastry to stave off a stiff neck, and on the third night the weak AC just gave up. When we were leaving the hotel they tried to charge us for the very mediocre breakfast buffets that had been included in our reservation.

Wonderful Hotel in a secluded location.

Thanks to the students nearby I was able to find the hotel. Apparently the stairs are famous. Everything about my stay was perfect. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast amazing! It's easy to get into the city and in a very nice neighborhood.

Very good hotel close to city and transport links

When booking, I chose this hotel mainly on price but wanted something that was modern, clean and comfortable. It certainly scored on those points and its proximity to the city (20 min walk) and local transport (bus 2 mins, tram 5 mins, metro 10 mins) made it an ideal place to stay. The only down mark I'd give is that the restaurant didn't serve evening meals (why open at lunchtime??) and there was no coffee available without ordering one at the bar.
