The lobby was nice and the best thing about the hotel, featuring multiple mathematicians and physicians. (for instance Schrödinger etc.) Green Apples at the reception for free. Check-in was fast and uncomplicated. The bathroom had everything I needed. A plus that was missing would be body lotion. Temperature on the air condition was not possible to be turned below 20 degrees Celsius, or off at all. Water boiler worked. Coffee (powder, 2 different sorts) and tees (black, green, fruit) TV worked fine. CNN & BBC News available. Fridge was empty. Unacceptable. Only one electrical plug socket next to each bed, yet both with two switches next to them, one on each side of the bed controlling the electrical flow for the plug socket that had the big floor lamp plugged into it. Now the confusing thing was exactly this fact combined with the need to pull out the plug of the bed lamps on esch side in order to charge my phone and powerstation. I would not get behind the mystery whether the respective switch for the plug socket on each side was turned on or not.

Not a 3 Star Hotel but it’s Okay

The hotel is just “okay”. It’s a budget friendly hotel that offers a warm place to sleep at night. However, the rooms are a little dirty, the rooms are cramped and dated, and the beds are terribly uncomfortable. The staff is nice and the location is “okay” if you don’t mind walking. It’s nothing special and may be worth spending a little more for more relaxing accommodation.

The location was great, located in the heart of the university district. The bed was large but only one comforter. The pillows were not comfortable and found them very thin and not supportive. The room was a good size. Temperature control in the room was very difficult. Staying on a high floor made it very hot.

Overall the hotel looked rather tired and the lift was in very poor condition. Breakfast buffet was very good, especially I see included some fruit.
View from my balcony was very pleasant. They seemed unable to provide milk for the room or sufficient tea bags

We had a spacious comfort room, with comfortable bed and lovely cotton bedding. The room was at the back of the hotel and very quiet. The breakfast was tasty, with lots of choices. The location is great, in a quiet, safe area with lots of transport links.
Our only criticism was that the carpets and bathroom need updating.

Not worth the money

To be honest, is not worth the money.
Location convenient and walking distance to museums etc (if you like to walk). Service is OK, but keep in mind that your room may not be cleaned by 2 pm every day. We had spider web in the room and in the bathroom and they never vacuumed our room in 4 nights stay.
Also, if you drink the water bottles in the room, you will be charged for it. We were expecting with 95 F at least the water bottles in the room will be free.

Very dated property with an ample($) breakfast. However, rooms were small, dated bathroom, and the mattress was for me, non-existent. Also and this was biggest headache….unless you have a tit-tiny car do NOT park in their($$)underground nightmare. It literally took me 25 minutes to navigate into these “stalls” and at least 35 to get out in the morning. I consider myself a decent driver. The area is near the US & Hungarian embassy. Very safe and quiet.

Great breakfast. The staff were nice. The only problem was that it got to be in the upper 80s two of the nights I was there and there's no AC. With the window open, it was fine, but difficult to fix the drapes to cover the window so I didn't awaken at 5 am!

This is a lovely hotel for solo travelers like me who just want a place to crash and are out for most of the day. It was clean and spacious in the room, and I appreciated the free tea and kettle (I was able to make myself oatmeal for breakfast that way, which helped my budget). The location is very close to the D trolley stops, which I appreciated, although be warned that to get to them, you have to climb or go down a huge staircase (can be difficult with luggage or mobility limitations). I found it also very walkable without transit. There was very little security in the lobby after hours but nothing bad happened and I think there is just less concern for crime in general than in the States. I also appreciated that they arranged an early morning taxi to the airport for me!

Good stay, but I work online, and the internet was weak and erratic. I raised it, but the hotel seems to have only one router. Even on the second floor, reception was poor, so I can’t imagine the upper levels. Otherwise, the hotel was fine, and the breakfast was amazing and worth paying for.

Stayed for 3 nights midweek in February.

Pros:

Great location - plenty of transport links nearby and only 20-25min walk into the city centre.
Pleasant staff - very helpful at check-in/out, the experience was simple and efficient. I was also given an upgrade from a standard room to one which had a balcony.

Middle:

Not very comfortable - the bed was fine, nothing to write home about but you would expect better from a 4 star hotel. Bathroom again fine, but the same applies that you would expect better.
Noise - not strictly the hotel's fault, but as of 8/2/24 there is construction work being done across the street.

Cons:

Needs a refurbishment - the hotel is very dated and this is very evident in the hallways, rooms and elevator.
Heat - the room was very warm considering it was only mid-February (admittedly a warmer February than average, but still I dread to think what it would be like in summer). AC in room did not work and couldn't leave balcony window open due to street noise.
Cleanliness - the room had ants. Included a photo of one found on a towel on the last night (unable to get a good picture of others due to lighting but we found at least a half dozen or so). I subsequently found a review on Google dated a few months prior to my visit and they raised the same issue. Unacceptable really.

Unless I was desperate I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to others.

They turned off the air conditioner since September. The room was very hot. We decided to open the windows at night but there were noises in the street all night long. There's also a construction happening right in front of the hotel. Very early in the morning the construction workers start with the noises. The bathroom has mold all over. The hand soap was totally empty, they gave us some samples to use so they could \"replace it\" next day but it never happened. One of the days they even turned the water off because they had something going on. I do NOT recommend this hotel at all.

A friend and I were there for a short break. I was attending a wedding in the countryside and my friend was in Vienna for the first time. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet road in a good part of the city a d was as comfortable as we needed. Sorry not to have had longer there.

The good: Checkin/out was easy and the elevator had a nice light up ceiling. The bad: most uncomfortable mattress (springs), pillows seemed homemade with cotton balls, dated room stank upon arrival. The duvet covers were clean but not closed properly so you can see the stained/discolored duvet within, which is the only bedding provided. The shower took HOURS to drain just 2-3 inches of water so you had the stand in it for your whole shower. You get to choose between using a/c which sounds like crickets screaming OR go without and be over heated and hear everything from the other rooms/hallway noise. Construction right across the street and noise early and late. Even for a very tired traveler this place is not worth it.

Seems like the property has not had an upgrade since the 1970's. The carpet is old and stinks. The beds do not come to your knees. You sleep on a boxspring and an old mattress very low off the floor. Never did they once change the sheets unless we asked. No microwave in the room. There was no iron for clothing or an ironing board. When they removed the trash they would leave some inadvertently. Breakfast was provided for an additional $14 Euros but was not worth the money. Went to bakery shops around the corner with a better selection for less money. The blackout curtains had multiple spots which allowed light to come through. The beds were 2 twin beds pushed together to make one with a seam in the middle that one would fall into. The pillows are clumps of cotton zipped within a pillowcase and terribly uncomfortable.

Elevators are between floors so you always have a small flight of stairs but didn't bother me.

The property is in reasonable condition with great breakfast spread. The room was standard and clean but the shower did not drain properly in glacial pace and the AC did not work. Thankfully it wasn’t summer otherwise unpleasant. The location is neither close nor far from the City Centre, and although accessible by public transport it can be a bit tricky with several changes of mode of transportation. It’s in the university area and a stone throw away from the American Embassy so it’s quiet and safe. All up it was a pleasant stay.

We booked Hôtel Boltzmann because it had AC in rooms, which was our top 1 “need to have” for our trip.
Turns out AC “broke” the first night.. and for “fix” in the morning .to “break” again same time the next night.
Manager if hotel didn’t apologize and never called or returns any of our call/email.
Poor little girl at the desk tried her best to accommodate us the first night.

We were very disappointed with this hotel and how it was managed.

We do not recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to sleep in cool room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Boltzmann. Our receptionist, Julija was very helpful and friendly. We were able to check in s little earlier which was great. It is about 25 minutes walk to Vienna center or you can get the tram. The room was nice and clean.

The hotel staff is really great. The area is fairly close (10-15 minute walk) to the U-Bahn and tram station. A few good restaurants nearby. My only complaint: the pillows are incredibly thin.

Okay for a short stay

The location of the hotel was good for a short visit to Vienna. The room was on the top floor and was very hot. There was aircon in the room which was so noisy that i had headache after both nights of sleep and was also set to 26 c centrally I think, given putting the setup to 22 and maximum fan achieved nothing. The beds were quite uncomfortable also, there was no coffee or complimentary water in the room, which i would have expected for the price

Opens the door to the City

Hotel Boltzmann is perfect for exploring Vienna. A Tram stop just around the corner at Spitalgasse opens up the door to the whole City. The Hotel itself was Pleasant clean and friendly. Easy to use safe, comfortable bed and good local amenities. The staff were very helpful during our stay. I would recommend using there transfer to and from the Hotel. The Breakfast was tasty and there was lots of choice. Overall a quiet area with just enough noise to make it feel normal. We had to take a cab during our stay due to weather, the Hotel ordered it for us and it was very cheap...I would not hesitate to stay at this Hotel again. Thank you

Not conviently located - only stayed there because it was the meeting point for a group hiking trip. Wanted a few things washed but they forgot it and didn't mention it until I inquired if to was completed - 24 hrs later. They offered a drink in the bar as an apology but we had plans.

Quiet comfortable Hotel in a quiet side street.

A comfortable hotel. Room clean and airy. Staff friendly and approachable, nothing seemed to be a problem. Breakfast buffet laid out well and of a high standard, continuous topping up by staff. Hotel situated in a side street but close to transportation systems of Vienna so less than half an hour from the main attractions. Ideal for business trips or quiet holiday Base. Would say not suitable for a family of young children.

The Boltzmann is located in a good area with easy access to the underground and walking distance to restaurants. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, with the front desk personnel all speaking English. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide selection of choices. Gluten Free bread was available upon request which was a very pleasant surprise. We would definitely stay here again.
