Parking was easy, safe and not expensive. Perfect location as close to nearby shops, park and seafront but still quiet. The staff were excellent and there was a good choice at breakfast. I would highly recommend Mount Stuart for a decent, clean and affordable place to stay.

Car park is a joke. On entry to the establishment there a man in his slippers drinking tea (we think) on the step. Couldn't find our booking. Room was cold, damp and run down. Falling to pieces.

The room was very basic.
There were bleach stains on the bedding, pink stains on the bathroom floor and the toilet seat was yellow.
We had a room for 3 adults. We were only provided with 2 cups, the beds advertised were 3 singles but it was a double and a bunk bed.
It was ok just for somewhere to sleep but if you wanted to use for a longer stay i wouldn't recommend
Parking is bad. Too many cars parked in a small space. You are advised to leave keys so if you are blocking someone in they will move your car!
It is a really good location for town and Bournemouth International centre. About a 6 minute walk

The room was clean and linen was good. I liked the biscuits that were provided in the room. Unfortunately the bed was really uncomfortable and the hot water was only available at a set time so I had a cold shower.
The room was not serviced during the day which meant consumables were not replenished. The room door also did not fit the frame very well with a large gap at the bottom it is questionable if this is compliant as a fire door. Breakfast was basic and served from 9am which is too late for many and not really worth waiting for.
I left early as could not face another night.
Staff were pleasant, but next time I’ll try a travel lodge or similar as it’s better for value and comfort.

Needs a lot of TLC

The \"hotel\" is locted in a nice and quiet area, 5-8 minutes from the beach however this doesn't make the place better at all. The \"hotel\" which I wouldn't call it as a hotel at all didn't clean our room, on the second day I asked them to empty the bins and at least to hoover and tidy up, when we returned, nothing was done. There was rearly anyone available at the reception if we needed to speak to someone. We had to ask for toilet paper as it wasn't replenished at all. The beds were so uncomfortable caused back pain to myself and to my partner as well. They didn't have cooked food for the breakfast,only the really basic,bland stuff like bread, butter,jam, apple,banana, yoghurt, summer fruit, cereal etc.
We had to ask for tea or for coffee, there was no dusplay for these, no an industial coffee machine.
Also, the place need some serious repair,upgrade, tlc and the paint were coming off of the wall, the toilet seat had some nasty stains, the towel rail was so rusty, the shower cabin's tile were moving and not sealed. The room was really noisy, we heared everything from next door and from the main entrance. However the workers were kind and nice people but the Management should do courses how to run a hospitality place if they want to call themself as a hotel, should give the proper basic services that a hotel offers.
Bournemouth is a beautiful place, we had a really good time and planning to return back but I would not recommend this place to anyone not even for a night sleep.

No device at all had to wait until 3.00 to get in to the building, sorry did nt hear the door must have been down stairs. Room was smelly, not in a good state, bathroom was filthy and scruffy with someone’s poo still around the bowel. Supposed to there for 4 night left the next morning not a sign of anyone around. Found another hotel cheaper which was excellent

Carpet area by radiator was wet, toilet flusher kept getting stuck and you can’t reach the facility Guy most of the time and never anyone at reception, had to use the outside toilet for 2 days, safe to say I am never returning there, you even have to pay for car park untop all the poor service

Staff absolutely amazing. 5/5 for politeness and attiveness. Condition of property in need of a good overhaul. The room I stayed in had water mark around the light fitting, paint peeling from skirting boards, marks on curtain. Not enough hangers or storage space.

Very friendly staff. Food tasty. Good location. Room for improvement.
Please accept the following as constructive criticism:
Front door locked. Door bell rung twice with no reply. I phoned the hotel to try to gain access, but no-one was available to take the call and a message couldn't be left. I knocked the door and someone opened it.
Not so clean. Dirty toilet brush holder in bathroom. About an inch of dirty yellow/brown liquid sitting holder! The rooms could do with a spring-clean. The entrance porch needs cleaning and a coat of paint.
Mattress had a big dip in the middle.
The hot-tub costs £180 for 3 hours and 7 days advance warning is needed.
Hot water only available at certain times.
I would have discussed the above at the hotel if someone had been in reception during check-out time.

Not the cleanest of toilets / rooms and very cold eventhough heating was on.
But good sized rooms and good breakfast the next day.
Not the most modern but you get what you pay for.
Stayed for 1 night for an event at the BIC and so was suitable for that.

First room smelt really badly of cigerette smoke, they did move us but then tried to put our friends in that room. Our new room had not been vacumed, there was litter and hair all over the carpet so we had to get them to vacume it. The rooms were very cold, the mattress was way to soft and uncomfortable and every time we moved the metal bedframe squeeked so we got little sleep. We were there with a school party and one of the kids rooms found a bra and nickers in their room. The breakfast was nice although there were 2 school parties and we got told off for not coming in at different times even though we didnt know there were 2 parties and they did! All in all not somewhere we would ever stay again or recomend to anyone.

Pros- It was good value for money, good location, with everything I needed for my stay including a hot breakfast each day.
Cons- breakfast was 9am -10am would be nice for earlier option. When I arrived the towels and coffee facilities were still wet- clean but wet, 1 cup still had soap suds in it.

Very poor communication with hotel. Trying to call them several times in morning to find out if they are fully operational due to storm darragh even contacted expedia to be told by their agent that can not contact them as there is no reply. Finally after several tries landline phone answered and lady in reception told me hotel is open. I have explained that we will not travel to Bournemouth as it is to danger can we possibly change our stay for different date to be told that someone will call me later to discuss it. Few hours waiting no call so i have rang them again and have been reassured that someone will call me after 6pm guess what no call whatsoever.

Everything was wonderful! Got there two hours before check-in and the front desk was kind enough to hold all our bags until check-in. When we came back after a night of walking around London, our beds were already in our room. Great service great location great for the price for four people.

For a 2 star hotel this was a perfectly adequate room and overall stay at a fair price. Comfortable bed with clean bed linen and towels. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but bizarrely no spoon to stir my morning coffee. Otherwise a functional yet comfortable room showing some signs of ageing.

Just had an overnight stay as on route to another destination. Greeting was friendly although I had to find phone number through website to ring as couldn't get answer at the closed door. Comfortable bed and adequate facilities - good shower. Disappointed the spa bath was out of commission, but explained why. Lovely breakfast and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again, hopefully for a longer visit next time to take in the benefits of the area, as ideally located.

Room 5..Disappointing stay with 4 children. No heating in the room,Which the owners would have known before we got there. This is not acceptable for February. 2 heaters were provided after I requested after the first night but shouldn’t have had to do this. There is a kettle in the room but no suitable place to plug it in safely. There is mould around the outside wall.
Perfect location just let down in other areas.

Was unable to re access the building late at night.
Had to try and wake up guests to gain access to the building as they didn’t provide a code.
Parking is awful and likely you’ll get blocked in so careful if you’ve got an early start.
Other than that it was good and free breakfast was nice .. perfect spot .

The Mount Stewart's in a great location, just off a reasonably busy Bournemouth street with plenty of life but just far enough off that it was pretty quiet & really peaceful most of the time
Room's on the ground floor so no dealing with stairs or lifts, always appreciated
When i said i'd be out before breakfast each day they offered to make me something to take with me
Keycards worked well.
Everything in the room worked well
I had a very enjoyable stay

Beautiful property, well looked after and decorated beautifully and colour contrast is throughout. Breakfast was cooked to perfection no issues. Was greeted by a lovely man at reception made you feel really welcomed.

Only down side could of done with extra pillows, dirty cup was found in the cupboard and there was no fridge but other than that overal perfect stay and would stay again for sure!!

Excellent breakfast, but some issues. Breakfast was very good, full English,cereals, juice etc. Fast service too. Reception manned up to 9pm, and no help after. I needed more milk at 8.45pm and no response when I rang the bell by the unattended desk. Our room was outside the building and had some issues. There were automated air fresheners in our rather tired-looking room and toilet, but neither worked. Maybe originally put there to overcome smell from drains, but unfortunately this unpleasant smell was frequently noticeable. Bed OK, but metal frame needed bolts tightening as it made a frightful noise whenever you moved! Could not report things to reception as no one there when I tried. I tried ringing, but got a message back saying no one was available, and I could not leave a message!

You get what you pay for!!!!!!!!.
Booked last minute so limited choices of accommodation unless you pay £££££. Bournemouth is expensive to stay in anyway.
Yes it generally needs a lot of TLC, carpets, general cleanliness, sticky tables, congealed sauce on tops of sauce bottles (sauce bottles are Heinz bottles but years old - labels show it - where staff just ‘top up’ the bottle with cheaper sauces). Asked girl to clean the congealed sauce off the top - then sat at a different table the second morning & it was exactly the same with those sauce bottles (a place for bugs to breed) Basics!!!! Our attic room was ok - but hot with no fan available.
Breakfast - asked twice about the fried eggs - hard, not nice sausage, cereals tasted cheap & stale. Noticed that they had topped up the Weetabix tub -so had that second morning - ok.
Smoking area right outside breakfast room - so smoke was coming in eating area.
Run on a budget as everything is cheap. As I said - you get what you pay for. Not done a B&B for many years & will not do again. Sticking to Premier Inns in future

Very dated, uncomfortable, was here for 2 nights, mattress need replacing, tired and dirty and very dated rooms, couldn’t open windows but was provided a fan. Bar was only open 1 night out of 2 and we had to find a member of staff to ask when is it open. Considering this hotel wasn’t cheap to stay for 2 nights for the 4 of us, I wouldn’t recommend sorry

I stayed for 3 nights . The shower drainage hole overflows with water when taking a shower meaning the water is overflowing and taking ages to drain . No one came to clean the rooms or bathroom even though I said please clean the toilets no need to change the bed sheets as we had bought our own . The metal bed made a lot of noise when sleeping .

It was written on the notice board breakfast times for the weekends finishes at 1030 and I doubled checked with reception to confirm it . On the morning of Saturday at 10 the door is shut only to be told breakfast on Saturday finishes at 10am . I wasn't too pleased but they said it had changed and no longer at 10.30 on Saturdays just on Sundays it's at 10.30.

So therefore I had to go out and pay for my breakfast which was further cost to me. I did complain to reception in the evening who was apologetic.

The location is perfect for the beach and restaurants surrounding areas not much walking distance. The hotel could do with better staff especially kitchen and a upgrade to the rooms it is a bit outdated.

Now that I know the area I seen a premier inn nearby and travelogue I will pay that bit extra for better comfort .

We are a family of 5 and all stayed in the same room with a double, single and bunk beds. We had an issue with one of our keys not working, but this was sorted quickly.

If you're going to be out and about during the day, it's a great base and has all the basics you need. The breakfast was also great!

Location wise, this was spot on. A 5min walk to the beach and pier in one direction and likewise, the same time to reach all the main shops in the other direction. Get comfy shoes on though as there's a LOT of hills about.

All in all the whole family enjoyed our stay and would go again.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The room was spacious. We had 5 people in the room and we had room for all of us and our bags with no issue. Beds were comfy for my kids but I do prefer a harder mattress but this is not a negative for the hotel just my preference. The hotel is in a great location. The area is busy so it feels safe and literally 10min walk to the pier. Would defo book again. There was no parking for our car but I had already paid up at the pier and left my car there. So peak times just be aware you might not get space but there is a few parking locations around.

Good hotel to use as a base

In looking at previous reviews, there was a real mix of ratings so I was a little concerned.
I’ll be honest in that we booked the hotel to use as a base for the weekend to enjoy the local Christmas activities. The hotel was a little “tired” in places and as a 2 star in has “no frills” but it was ideal for what we wanted.
We had a heater in our room but our friends didn’t and they did find it a little cold as the weekend temp was quite low.
The rooms are basic but clean and beds were comfy.
The breakfast was freshly cooked and was of reasonable quality.
I would recommend this hotel as a place to sleep if you’re spending the majority of the time out and about but if you’re wanting to relax in the room and enjoy little “extras” then you’ll be disappointed.

This was one of the worst holidays for me. Specially in this hotel, my door key wasn’t working probably when I said to them they don’t even bother and there was a man who looks like a manager for the hotel was very rude and very aggressive. No idea how they run this business only thing was breakfast was good and the young boys and girls were very friendly. I will advice everyone not to book your holidays in this place.
